Maanathe: Here’s a new song from Oru Kuttanadan Blog

Mammootty starrer Oru Kuttanadan Blog which was set for Onam release was postponed due to the floods that wreaked havoc in the state. The movie is now set to hit screens this month. The makers have released a new song today in social medias. Titled ‘Maanathe’, this beautiful track is rendered by Vijay Yesudas and Mridula Warrier. Rafeeq Ahamed has penned the lyrics and debutant Sreenath Shivashankaran has composed the song.

Oru Kuttanadan Blog marks the directorial debut of scriptwriter Sethu. Touted to be a feel-good fun entertainer, the movie looks promising from the trailer and promos. Set in the village of Krishnapuram, the movie Mammootty playing the role of Hari, a big-brother like figure. Anu Sithara, Raai Laxmi and Shamna Kasim play the three female leads.

Sunny Wayne, Jacob Gregory, Shaheen Siddique, Vivek Gopan, Sanju Sivaram and Jude Anthany Joseph, Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vineeth Kumar, Lalu Alex, Thesni Khan, Nandan Unni and Sohan Seenulal comprise the huge supporting cast.

Oru Kuttanadan Blog is being produced by Murali Dharan and Santha Murali under the banner of Anantha Vision.

On occasion of third anniversary of the release of Thani Oruvan, director Mohan Raja officially announced a sequel for the film. Thani Oruvan, released in 2015, had Arvind Swami, Jayam Ravi and Nayanthara in the lead roles. The sequel will once again have Jayam Ravi in the lead, but it is still not known if other actors including Arvind Swamy and Nayanthara will be retained.

Thani Oruvan 2 would be Jayam Ravi’s 25th film, and he along with his brother Raja will be trying to make it a special one. The brothers have previously worked together in several films. In fact, Mohan Raja was the one who launched Ravi through his film Jayam, which was also his directorial debut.

Later, they teamed up for films like M Kumaran Son Of Mahalakshmi, Unnakum Ennakum, Thillalangadi and Santosh Subramaniam. Their last outing together was Thani Oruvan. All the aforementioned films were commercially successful with Thani Oruvan garnering unanimous acclaim.

Jayam Ravi has action thriller ‘Adanga Maru’, and the epic film ‘Sangamithra’ in his kitty. He has also signed for a movie with director Ahmed of ‘Manithan’ fame.

Prithviraj’s Aadujeevitham to hit screens only in 2020

It has been a long time dream of ace filmmaker Blessy to make a movie based on Benyamin’s award winning novel Aadujeevitham. After years of discussions, things fell in place earlier this year. Prithviraj and Amala Paul were signed to play the lead roles in the movie. A brief first schedule was held in March and ever since then the team has been on a break. The latest we hear is that the movie will be releasing only by 2020.

Director Blessy himself said this in a recent interview. According to him, the movie demands to be shot in various seasons in multiple foreign locations. The makers are investing more time in pre-production as they cannot afford any mistake due to the huge budget involved. It has been planned as one of the most expensive films ever made in Malayalam cinema.

Aadujeevitham is an ambitious project planned on a very big scale. It tells the story of an abused migrant worker in Saudi Arabia. Najeeb, the protagonist, gets stranded in the middle of deserts. The lone man undergoes different experiences from seclusion, emotional conflicts and survival struggles. Prithviraj plays the lead character of Najeeb. The actor will have to undergo drastic physical changes as the character demands it. He has now put on a few kilos so as to get a distinct look when he sheds weight for the latter half of the movie.

The makers have planned to shoot the movie in various schedules through the time span of which Prithviraj will be undergoing multiple physical transformations. Veteran Bollywood cinematographer KU Mohanan, Oscar winners AR Rahman and Resul Pookutty are part of the movie’s technical team.

Rajinikanth is currently shooting for his upcoming movie with director Karthik Subbaraj. Sun Pictures is producing this high profile project that boasts of a huge star cast. Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Trisha, Simran, Bobby Simha and Megha Akash are playing major roles in the movie.

Nawazuddin Siddqui, who is unarguably one of the finest actors in Indian cinema, is making his debut in South cinema with this movie (tentatively titled as Thalaivar 165). The actor took to social media to post a photo of him rehearsing his lines ahead of shoot. He captioned it as,

With a reply tweet, director Karthik Subbaraj welcomed Nawazuddin Siddiqui to Tamil cinema. While Vijay Sethupathi is said to be playing the antagonist, there is still no lead about the nature of Nawazuddin’s character. It will be really exciting to see three incredibly talented actors like Rajinikanth, Vijay Sethupathi and Nawazzduin together on screen.

This yet-to-be titled movie’s technical crew includes National award winning cinematographer Tirru, composer Anirudh Ravichander and action choreographer Peter Hein. Title and first look are expected to be unveiled very soon.

Shyamprasad is rated as one of Malayalam cinema’s finest filmmakers ever. A winner of multiple national awards, the ace director has carved a niche for himself with his movies that mostly explore human psyche and the various dynamics in relationships. His last film ‘Hey Jude’ told the story of a person with Asperger syndrome and his relationship with a girl having bipolar disorder. The movie won a lot of critical appreciation and was an average grosser at the box office.

Shyamaprasad’s next film will also be discussing a very intricate subject. The movie is based on Sarah Joseph’s novel, Aalohari Aanandam. Set in a large Christian household, Aalohari Anandam dissects different faces of man-woman relationships, as well as sexual orientation. Its story deals with the homosexuality of a married woman and its impact in her life and society.

Big news is that Shyamaprasad is planning to cast Mammootty in the lead for the big screen adaptation of Aalohari Anandam. The director himself revealed this in a recent interview. Initial discussions are already on and they are planning to go on floors by October or November. Mammootty and Shyamaprasad have previously worked together in ‘Ore Kadal’, a widely acclaimed film that went on to be screened at numerous international film festivals, including IFFI Indian Panorama. Expectations will be huge when the actor-director duo reunite after a long gap.

This upcoming movie with Mammootty will be produced by Shyamaprasad’s son Vishnu, who owns a Mumbai based advertising agency. An official announcement with full details regarding the title, entire cast and crew is expected to be made very soon.

Extraordinary response for Chekka Chivantha Vaanam trailer!

Ace filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is one of the most anticipated Tamil films of the year. The movie boasts of a stellar star cast comprising of Arvind Swamy, Arun Vijay, Simbu, Vijay Sethupathi, Jyothika, Aditi Rao Hydari, Aishwarya Rajesh, Prakash Raj and Jayasudha. Official trailer of the movie was released couple of days back (August 24). As of now, the trailer has clocked a whopping 5.3 million views in YouTube. The response in social medias so far has been excellent with the star studded cast being the major selling point.

Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (CCV) is a gangster story with sibling rivalry at its core. Prakash Raj plays Senapathi, an influential don while Arvind Swamy, Arun Vijay and Simbu play his three sons – Varadhan, Thyagu and Ethi respectively. Vijay Sethupathi as Rasool plays the role of a police officer. From the trailer, we can make out that each character has grey shades to it.

Mani Ratnam has retained his regular set of technicians for this movie. Santhosh Sivan cranks the camera and Sreekar Prasad is handling the edits. Maestro AR Rahman is composing the music. Lyca Productions is producing the movie on a first copy basis along with Mani Ratnam’s home banner Madras Talkies. The movie is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on September 28.

Vijay-Murugadoss team’s upcoming movie Sarkar is getting ready for a grand release this Diwali. Shoot for the movie has almost been wrapped up with only a few portions remaining. Post-production works are currently progressing and the makers are also set to kick-start the promotions. A big announcement was made recently by the makers – the movie’s audio will be launched on October 2.

After the blockbuster success of Mersal, AR Rahman is once again composing for a Vijay film and expectations are naturally on the higher side. As per reports, the makers, Sun Pictures, are planning to have a grand audio launch event with live performance by the maestro himself.

Sarkar is a political thriller that has Vijay playing the role of a multi millionaire. Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead in the movie while Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar is also there in a crucial role. Pala Karuppaiah, Radha Ravi, Livingston, Yogi Babu, Prem and many others are also part of the movie’s supporting cast.

In the technical side, Malayali cinematographer Girish Gangadharan cranks the camera and multiple National award Sreekar Prasad handles. Sun Pictures is making their comeback to production by funding this big ticket film.

Super excited to shoot for The Zoya Factor with Dulquer Salmaan: Sonam Kapoor

Dulquer Salmaan, whose Hindi debut, Karwaan, got released earlier this month, is getting ready to start shooting for his next Bollywood film. Titled as The Zoya Factor, the movie is based on Anuja Chauhan’s 2008 best seller novel of the same name. Dulquer and Sonam Kapoor play the lead roles in the movie. Abhishek Sharma, who has helmed movies like The Shaukeens and Tere Bin Laden, will be directing this movie.

As shoot for the movie is set to commence, Sonam Kapoor has tweeted about how excited she is about working with Dulquer Salmaan. Her tweet reads,

In an earlier interview, Sonam revealed that she had watched a few of Dulquer’s movies and rates him quite high as an actor.

She is quoted saying, “Dulquer is really cute and such a good actor. I have seen his film Okay Kanmani and he was fabulous in that. I really liked him in that movie. I haven’t started prepping with Dulquer. It’s starting in August so I am looking forward to working with him. We will start in August or September.”

Zoya Factor, the novel is centred around Zoya Singh Solanki, a PR executive. Zoya was born on the exact moment when Indian cricket team had lifted the 1983 World Cup. Zoya is considered as a lucky charm by the Indian team and media. While everyone consider her lucky, team’s captain Nikhil Khoda and Zoya are always at loggerheads. The former doesn’t believe in luck and relies on performance. Zoya keeps clashing with the Indian skipper, and what follows is a love-hate relationship.

Sonam Kapoor will be playing the role of Zoya while Dulquer Salmaan essyas captain Nikhil Khoda’s role in the movie. Reportedly, Dulquer is taking up basic circket coaching prior to play his part. Fox Star Studios and Adlabs Films are jointly funding the movie which is scheduled as an April release, next year.

Mammootty set to join team Madura Raja!

After a brief halt following the unprecedented floods that rocked Kerala, Malayalam film industry is limping back to its usual self. Shooting for various movies have resumed and ones supposed to hit screens for Onam are being rescheduled. Megastar Mammootty will be joining the sets of Madura Raja on Monday.

Madura Raja, which is a spin-off of Mammootty’s character from his blockbuster film, Pokkiri Raja, is being directed by Vysakh. Udhayakrishna, who last teamed up with Vysakh for the mega blockbuster Pulimurugan, is scripting Madura Raja as well. The movie touted to be the most expensive project in Mammootty’s career, is bankrolled by debutant producer Nelson Ipe.

Madura Raja has a massive star cast which includes three leading heroines – Anusree, Shamna Kasim and Mahima Nambiar. Popular Tamil actor Jai is also playing a prominent role in the movie. Telugu actor Jagapathi Babu, Nedumudi Venu, RK Suresh, Vijayaraghavan, Salim Kumar, Aju Varghese, Dharmajan Blogatty, Biju Kuttan, Siddique, Kailas, Bala, Manikuttan, Noby and many others are part of the cast.

In the technical side, the same team from Pulimurugan have been retained. Cinematographer Shaji Kumar, composer Gopi Sundar and editor John Kutty form the crew. Fight sequences will be choreographed by Peter Hein. Vysakh is planning Madura Raja as a more racy and technically advanced movie than Pokkiri Raja. The movie is scheduled as a summer release next year.

According to government reports, around 380 people have already lost their lives and properties worth over Rs 20,000 crores have been destroyed.During the initial phase itself, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan raised awareness about the gravity of the disaster by requesting everyone to contribute generously towards the distress relief fund.

Celebrities across the country have pitched in their contributions to rebuild the state of Kerala. Bollywood stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Karan Johar, Varun Dhawan, Hrithik Roshan, Shahid Kapoor, Jacqueline Fernandez, Swara Bhaskar, Alia Bhatt and Anushka Sharma, among others tweeted in support for Kerala and its people.
