Rajeev Pillai postpones his wedding to help those affected in the floods

The Kerala Floods is one of those rare instances were celebrities and commoners came together for a cause. Stars didn’t care about the continuous rains, neck-deep water or soiling themselves while being involved in the rescue and rehabilitation works. Malayali actors like Tovino Thomas, Indrajith|Sukumaran, Poornima Indrajith, Parvathy, Remya Nambeesan, Rima Kallingal, Asif Ali, Jayasurya, Balu Varghese, Sunny Wayne, Aju Varghese and Vijay Babu were actively involved in the relief operations.

Actor Rajeev Pillai went a step higher by postponing his wedding to get involved in relief activities for flood victims. The doctor-turned-actor hails from Nannoor in Thiruvalla, where many parts were under water. Though his house was not affected, Rajeev decided to postpone his wedding to join the rescue mission. The actor was supposed to marry Ajitha, an engineering graduate, on the 17th of this month.

A photo of Rajeev helping in the rescue works was shared by actress Richa Chadda, his co-star in the Shakeela biopic. Richa’s post reads,

“My friend and costar in #Shakeela, @rajeev_govinda_pillai postponed his wedding, which was to happen three days ago, in order to help out in rescue efforts in his hometown of Nannoor, Kerala. They made rafts, carried boats by road to the low lying areas, made good use of all the muscle. Bravo! PS- apart from obvious resourceful-ness, helpfulness, I think this is when fitness comes in handy. When you’re strong, agile, you can be of use in adverse conditions. The young men and the fishermen in this town worked till late in the night to save people from the rising water.”
