Prithviraj to play a police officer’s role in Lucifer!

Shoot for Mohanlal’s upcoming movie Lucifer is currently progressing. The movie which marks the directorial debut of actor Prithviraj is scripted by Murali Gopy. Touted to be a political thriller, the movie has a huge star cast. Indrajith, Vivek Oberoi, Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Fazil and ‘Queen’ fame Saniya Iyappan are confirmed to be part of the movie.

Latest buzz is that Prithviraj, besides calling the shots, is also playing an extended role in the movie. It is speculated that the actor will be seen in a police officer’s role in Lucifer. Prithviraj was recently seen sporting a new look that resembles a cop’s getup. His new look has further fueled the speculations. Fans of both Prithviraj and Mohanlal are already excited about this latest buzz. If it turns out to be true, it will be the first time the two stars will be coming together on screen.

Lucifer, according to the makers, is a mass entertainer. Mohanlal is reportedly playing a politician’s role in the movie. The superstar is seen sporting a salt and pepper hairstyle and a full-white look in the movie’s location stills. After wrapping up the first schedule in Idukki, the team will be shifting to Trivandrum, where a month long shoot has been planned.

Biju Menon’s Padayottam is gearing up to hit screens this month. The movie directed by debutant Rafeek Ibrahim is publicised as a serious comedy. First song from the movie was released today in social medias. The song titled Mele Mele is sung by Antony Tharakan and composed by Prashanth Pillai. BK Harinarayan has penned the lyrics.

Earlier, the fun filled trailer of Padayottam had garnered great response from viewers in social medias. The movie has Biju Menon playing the role of Chenkal Raju, a pucca-gangster based in the Chenkal Choola region in Trivandrum. The actor is seen sporting a rugged mass look in the movie. Padayottam has a huge supporting cast which includes Dileesh Pothan, Saiju Kurup, Anu Sithara, Lijo Jose Pellissery, Basil Joseph, Sudhi Koppa and Harish Kanaran.

Padayottam is scripted jointly by newcomers Arun AR and Ajai Rahul. According to the makers, the movie is a serious-comedy on the lines of Delhi Belly and Jigarthanda. Satheesh Kurup is the cinematographer and Prashanth Pillai is handling the music department. Sophia Paul is producing the movie under the banner of Weekend Blockbusters.

Then trailer of Oru Kuttanadan Blog was released least day through Mammootty’s official Facebook page. The movie which marks the directorial debut of scenarist Sethu is touted to be a rural based fun entertainer. From the trailer, the movie looks like a rural drama with all entertaining elements that families seek during this festival season.

Oru Kuttanadan Blog scripted by Sethu is a set in a village named Krishnapuram. Mammootty plays the role of Hari, a big-brother like figure who is fondly called as Hari ettan in the locality. Promising young actors like Jacob Gregory, Shaheen Siddique, Vivek Gopan, Sanju Sivaram and Jude Anthany Joseph play his close acquaintances.

The movie is narrated interestingly through various episodes of a blog. Sunny Wayne plays the blogger’s role in the movie. Anu Sithara, Raai Laxmi and Shamna Kasim play the three female leads. Nedumudi Venu, Siddique, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vineeth Kumar, Lalu Alex, Thesni Khan, Nandan Unni and Sohan Seenulal are also part of the supporting cast.

Oru Kuttanadan Blog is being produced by Murali Dharan and Santha Murali under the banner of Anantha Vision.

As informed earlier by the makers, the first character introduction poster from ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’ (CCV) has been released. The poster features Arvind Swamy in an intense and fierce look. He plays the role of Varadan, who from the get-up looks like a thug. This Mani Ratnam directorial has a stellar star comprising of Arvind Swamy, Vijay Sethupathi, Simbu, Arun Vijay, Aditi Rao Hydari, Jyothika and Aishwarya Rajesh.

Character introduction posters of other actors are also expected to be unveiled shortly. Chekka Chivantha Vaanam is said to be a socio-political drama. Social drama has always been Mani Ratnam’s forte, as he has proven with films like Aayudha Ezhuthu (remade as Yuvaa in Hindi) and Kannathil Muthamittal.

Reportedly, CCV discusses about industrial pollution and the environmental hazards associated with it. The director gave hints of the same with an intriguing first look poster which had industrial chimneys in the background. The movie is also getting a Telugu version, which has been titled as Nawab.

Mani Ratnam has retained his regular set of technicians for this movie. Santhosh Sivan cranks the camera and Sreekar Prasad is handling the edits. Maestro AR Rahman is composing the music. Lyca Productions is producing the movie on a first copy basis along with Mani Ratnam’s home banner Madras Talkies. Recently, the makers had announced that the movie will hit screens worldwide on September 28. A grand audio launch is also being planned to be held on the first week of September.

The phenomenal success of Pulimurugan inspired several Malayali filmmakers to plan projects on big scale. Odiyan was one such project that got announced a few months after the release of Pulimurugan. National award winner Harikrishnan scripted the movie based on the not-much-explored lives of Odiyans, whose stories and myths are popular in Kerala’s folklore. The movie marks the feature-film directorial debut of ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon.

Odiyan is a big project that demanded hardwork and efforts from a lot of people. And according to director Shrikumar Menon, everyone from the actors to spot boys have given their best for Odiyan. In a recent interview, he was all praise for his team who have helped him to turn his vision to reality. The movie was shot for 123 days in multiple schedules from August 2018 to April this year.

The long wait for Odiyan’s release is coming to an end this October. The movie, which is currently in the post-production phase, is unarguably one of the most awaited Malayalam movies in recent years. According to the makers, Odiyan is a mass entertainer with elements of fantasy and magical realism. Mohanlal, Prakash Raj and Manju Warrier play the major roles in the movie. The cast also includes Manoj Joshi, Narain, Innocent, Kailas, Sana Althaf, Siddique and Nandu.

Odiyan’s technical crew includes comprises of DOP Shaji Kumar, editor Johnkutty, action choreographer Peter Hein, art director Prashanth Madhav and composers M Jayachandran and Sam CS (background score). The movie is scheduled for a grand release on October 11. It is expected to be released in around 400 screens in Kerala alone.

The Zoya Factor: Dulquer Salmaan’s new Hindi film set to go on floors

Dulquer Salmaan’s Hindi debut, Karwaan got released on August 3. The movie also starring Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar in lead roles has got good response from the critics and continues to do well in theatres. Meanwhile, Dulquer is getting ready to start shooting for his next Hindi film, The Zoya Factor. The movie which has him paired with Sonam Kapoor is the big screen adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s 2008 best seller novel of the same name.

The Zoya Factor is slated to go on floors from the end of this month. Abhishek Sharma, who has helmed movies like The Shaukeens and Tere Bin Laden, will be directing this movie. Zoya Factor, the novel is centred around Zoya Singh Solanki, a PR executive. Zoya was born on the exact moment when Indian cricket team had lifted the 1983 World Cup. She is considered as a lucky charm by the Indian team and media. While everyone consider her lucky, team’s captain Nikhil Khoda and Zoya are always at loggerheads as the former doesn’t believe in luck but relies on performance. Zoya keeps clashing with the Indian skipper, and what follows is a love-hate relationship.

While Sonam Kapoor plays the role of Zoya, Dulquer Salmaan will be essaying captain Nikhil Khoda’s role in the movie. Reportedly, Dulquer is taking up basic circket coaching prior for playing the skipper’s role. More details about the other cast and technical crew are expected to be announced shortly. Fox Star Studios and Adlabs Films are jointly funding the movie which is scheduled as an April 2019 release.

Mohanlal, Mammootty and Dulquer Salmaan donate Rs 50 lakhs to Disaster Relief Fund

Kerala is going through a terrible phase as torrential rains have wreaked havoc in several parts of the state. According to the government reports, this is the worst floods in the history of Kerala. Rescue and rehabilitation efforts are still continuing with combined efforts by thousands of people. The state’s Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had requested people to contribute generously to help better the situation.

Following his request, various political parties, businessmen and celebrities have donated to the Cheif Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund (CMDRF). Malayalam cinema’s top stars, Mohanlal, Mammootty and Dulquer Salmaan have together contributed a sum Rs 50 lakhs to the relief fund. While Mohanlal donated Rs 25 lakhs, Dulquer contributed 10 and Mammootty donated 15. Mammootty personally handed over the cheque to Ernakulam Cheif Minister Mohammed Y Safirulla.

Actors like Jayasurya, Suriya, Karthi, Kamal Haasan, Vijay Deverakonda, Anupama Parameswaran and Tamil cinema actors body (Nadigar Sangam) had also contributed generously to help the thousands of Keralites affected in the floods. Tovino Thomas, Manju Warrier, Prithviraj, Jayaram, Amala Paul, Vinayakan, Navya Nair and Asha Sharath have issued appeal on their social media pages to support the people affected by the floods.

The Kerala government has announced that a sum of Rs 4 lakh each would be would be provided to kin of the deceased and families who had lost their houses in the floods. A sum of Rs 10 lakh each, which includes Rs 6 lakh for purchasing land and Rs 4 lakh for constructing house, will be provided from those families who had lost their properties in landslides and floods.

Rosshan Andrrews to make his Hindi debut with the remake one of his superhit films!

Rosshan Andrrews is a highly revered filmmaker in Malayalam cinema circles. The director is well known for his films like Udayananu Tharam, Evidam Swargamanu, Mumbai Police and How Old Are You. His highly anticipated period-flick Kayamkulam Kochunni is gearing up to hit screens. The movie starring Nivin Pauly and Mohanlal ib major roles, is scripted by Bobby and Sanjay with whom Rosshan has collaborated for multiple projects.

Rossshan’s immediate next after Kayamkulam Kochunni will be in Hindi. The director himself revealed this in a recent interview. Though he refused to divulge more details, he confirmed that his B-Town entry will be with the remake of one of his own hit films. Cinephiles are eagerly awaiting to know which film he is planning to remake.

Earlier, Rosshan had remade his film ‘How Old Are You’ in Tamil as ’36 Vayathinile’. Jyothika reprised the role played by Manju Warrier in the original. Recently, there were reports about Vidya Balan playing the lead role in its Hindi remake, only to be dismissed by the director as baseless. So, it remains to be seen which among his films will be getting a Hindi version.

Rosshan also has two projects coming up in. One of them is a real-life inspired cop-story written by Bobby-Sanjay and the other is an ambitious project, ‘The Pirates of Diego Garcia’, with Nivin Pauly.

As we had reported earlier, Nivin Pauly is teaming up with Haneef Adeni of ‘The Great Father’ fame for a big budget thriller film. The movie titled as Mikhael is funded by Anto Joseph Film Company. Haneef Adeni, who last wore the writer’s hat for the superhit Abrahaminte Santhathikal, has scripted Mikhael as a family drama cum thriller.

As per latest reports, Mikhael also has actor Unni Mukundan in a prominent role. Nivin is said to be playing the role of a family man in the movie while details about Unni’s character have not yet been revealed. Fans are already excited to watch the two actors together on-screen. Nivin and Unni had previously shared screen space in Vikramdithyan, where the former essayed a cameo role

Mikhael comes with the tagline ‘Guardian Angel’. The movie has been planned to be shot across India and in a few foreign locations. JD Chakravarthi, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajon and KPAC Lalitha are confirmed to be parr of the cast. Recently, the makers had also conducted an audition for aspring actors between the age group of 19 and 23.

Mikhael is all set to start rolling from August 22. The first schedule in Ernakulam will last for 10 days before shifting to Kozhikode.

Last day, Peter Hein celebrated his birthday on the sets of Thalaivar 165 with Rajinikanth, director Karthik Subbaraj and the whole crew. Photos from the birthday bash were shared by Hein in his official social handle. He has also written a note thanking all those who wished hin on his special day. The note reads,

I just wanted to take a moment and say “thank you” to everyone for all of the birthday wishes. It means a lot to me that you all took time from your busy lives to wish me a happy birthday. I feel very blessed to have each and every one of you as my fans and well wishers
Love you all. (sic)

Peter Hein, one of India’s leading action choreographers, has worked in several projects like Magadheera, Ravanan, Enthiran, Baahubali etc. He currently has multiple projects in his kitty, across various languages. In Malayalam, he is choreographing the stunts in Pranav Mohanlal’s Irupathiyonnam Noottanadu and Mammootty’s Madura Raja. He is also in talks for big projects like Sangamithra, Maamankam, Marthandavarma, Kaaliyan, Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham and Randamoozham.
