Asif Ali’s next titled ‘Kakshi Amminipilla’

Asif Ali, of late has been very choosy with his films and they have have paid off more often than not. The actor has committed for a new film titled Kakshi Amminipilla. Debutant Binjith is directing this movie which is set to go on floors from August 20 in Thalassery. A newcomer will be paired with Asif Ali in this movie. More details regarding the other cast and crew members are expected to be announced shortly.

Asif Ali is currently shooting for ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’. The movie marks his third outing with director Jis Joy after ‘Bicycle Thieves’ and last year’s superhit ‘Sunday Holiday’. This upcoming movie has Aishwarya Lekshmi of ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ and ‘Mayaanadhi’ fame playing the female lead. It is a romantic entertainer featuring Asif as an engineering graduate and Aishwarya as a MBA student. Siddique, Renji Panicker, Shanthi Krishna and KPAC Lalitha, Balu Varghese, Arjun Ashokan and Aju Varghese are also part of the movie.

Asif Ali also has two films gearing up for release – Mandaram and Iblis. Mandaram directed by debutant Vijesh Vijay is a coming-of-age film. Asif appears in multiple looks in the movie as the story traces the different stages of his life. His other upcoming film, Iblis is directed by Rohit VS of ‘Adventures of Omanakuttan’ fame. Madonna Sebastian plays the female lead in the movie which is said to be a musical fantasy entertainer.

After Sarkar, Vijay most likely to reunite with Atlee!

Vijay and Atlee form one of the most successful actor-director combos in Tamil cinema. They have worked together in two films Theri (2016) and Mersal (2017). Both the movies were huge commercial hits, especially Mersal which emerged as one of the highest grossing South Indian films of last year. For a while now, there have been rumors about the duo teaming up for a third time.

Latest reports suggest that Atlee and Vijay have zeroed in on a subject and Kalapathi S Aghoram of AGS Entertainment have shown interest in producing the movie. Apart from Atlee, directors like Mohan Raja and H Vinoth were also in line for directing Vijay 63. The official announcement regarding Vijay’s next is expected to be made in the coming days.

Vijay is currently shooting for Sarkar, his upcoming movie directed by AR Murugadoss. 80% of shoot have already been completed. The makers are planning to wrap up the entire shoot by August. The movie touted to be a political thriller has Vijay playing the role of a multi-millionare. Keerthy Suresh plays the female lead while Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar, Radha Ravi and Pala Karuppaiah are also there in crucial roles. AR Rahman is scoring the music for the movie.

Sarkar funded by Sun Pictures is slated for a grand Diwali release, this November.

Jeethu Joseph’s debut Hindi film wrapped up; Starts works for his next with Kalidas Jayaram!

As we had reported earlier, Jeethu Jospeh is making his Bollywood debut with a thriller film starring Emraan Hashmi, Rishi Kapoor and Vedhika in the lead roles. The film repeatedly titled as ‘The Body’ is the remake of Spanish flick, ‘El Cuerpo’. The movie was recently wrapped up after just 39 days of shoot. It is being produced by Sunil Kheterpal and will be presented by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.

Jeethu Joseph is now back to his home turf, Malayalam cinema, where he has started works for his next with Kalidas Jayaram. Last day, the director released a casting call through his Facebook page for the female lead’s part. Aspiring female actors from the age group of 18-24 are asked to send their unedited photos along with a one-minute long video showcasing their talent to casting4vintagefilms@gmail.com.

This is Kalidas Jayaram’s second film as a lead actor in Malayalam after Poomaram. Though his debut film didn’t fare as expected in the box office, it earned critical appreciation and his performance was noted. The actor has also committed for a Tamil film with Alphonse Puthren of ‘Premam’ fame.

Dhanush’s Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta nearing completion!

Gautham Menon’s Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta (ENPT) has been in the making for over a year now. The movie touted to be a romantic-thriller has Dhanush and Megha Akash in the lead roles. ENPT actually went on floors in 2016 but got stalled midway as both the director and Dhanush got busy with other commitments. The movie’s final schedule was started earlier this week in Chennai.

Gautham Menon shared a photo of him with Dhanush and Sasikumar from the movie’s sets. Sasikumar is playing a brief but crucial role in the movie. Reports suggest that he will be seen as Dhanush’s brother but the makers have not yet confirmed it. This is the first time Sasikumar and Gautham Menon are working together. While the former is known for his rural and rustic style of acting, Gautham Menon has only done films set in the urban milieu. So it will be will be interesting to see how things work out in ENPT. The movie also has ‘Baahubali’ star Rana Daggubatti and Sunaina in brief cameo roles.

ENPT is eagerly awaited by the audience thanks to the hype created by its chartbuster songs. Darbuka Siva of ‘Kidaari’ fame is handling the music department. A couple of tracks from the movie – Maruvarthai and Visiri – have turned out to be sensational hits. Cinematography is by Jomon T John and Manoj Paramahamsa. Director Gautham Menon himself has produced the movie in association with Escape Artists Motion Pictures. It is expected to hit screens by the end of this year.

Kunchacko Boban is one of the most busiest actors in Malayalam film industry. He has already had four releases this year – Diwanjimoola Grand Prix, Shikkari Shambu, Kuttanadan Marpappa, Panchavarnathatha – and has a handful of other films in his kitty. The actor is currently shooting in Kochi for Johny Johny Yes Appa.

G Marthandan is directing this movie and Joji Thomas of ‘Vellimoonga’ fame is scripting it. The movie already has Anu Sithara as one of the female leads and latest to join the team is Mamta Mohandas. The actress reportedly has a very crucial role to play in the movie. It is her second outing with Kunchacko after Race, which was released back in 2011.

Director Marthandan is known for his films like Deivathinte Swantham Cleetus, Acha Din and Pavada. Johny Johny is also expected to be on similar lines. According to Kunchacko Boban, Johny Johny Yes Appa will be an out and out fun filled entertainer. Anu Sithara, Kalabhavan Shajon, Vijayaraghavan and Geeta are also playing major roles in the movie.

Shaan Rahman has been roped in to handle the music department for Johny Johny Yes Appa. Vaishaka Rajan is producing the movie under the banner of Vaishaka Films. Kunchacko Boban also has Mangalyam Thanthunanena and a film each with debutant Bilahari (Allu Ramendran) and Lal Jose.

Debutant Prasobh Vijayan is directing this movie which has a bunch of newcomers in the lead roles. Lilli was censored recently with a clean A certificate. The censor board officials certified the movie with A as it is loaded with some extremely raw and violent moments, a kind which is not generally seen in Malayalam cinema. The movie’s teaser, released in April, was met with stellar response from the viewers as it promised to be a hard-hitting thriller.

Last day, the shoot for Fahadh Faasil’s upcoming movie with Sathyan Anthikad commenced with a customary switch on ceremony. The movie titled as ‘Njan Prakashan’ is scripted by Sreenivasan. Sathyan Anthikad and Sreenivasan have delivered many memorable films in the past and they are now reuniting after a 16-year-long gap. Sethu Mannarkad of Full Moon Cinema is producing this upcoming movie.

Njan Prakashan is said to be a typical Sreenivasan style satire. The movie has Fahadh Faasil playing the role of Prakashan, a typical Malayali youth. Nikhila Vimal, noted for her performance in films like Love 24×7 and Aravindante Athidhikal, has been paired with Fahadh. Sreenivasan is also essaying a crucial role in the movie.

Fahadh and Sathyan Anthikkad are teaming up after a five year long gap. Their earlier film, Oru Indian Pranayakatha was a box office hit. They will be looking forward to repeat the success this time as well. S Kumar, a regular in Sathyan Anthikad films will be wielding the camera and Shaan Rahman has been signed as the composer. Kochi and Palakkad are finalized as the major locations.

Fahadh Faasil meanwhile has Varathan gearing up for release next month. The movie directed by Amal Neerad is eagerly awaited by the Malayali audience. Fahadh also has Aanenkilum Allenkilum, Anwar Rasheed’s Trance and the Tamil film Super Deluxe coming up.

Lucifer is a political thriller: Prithviraj Sukumaran

Prithviraj is currently basking in the overwhelming audience response for his recently released ‘Koode’. After a series of duds, Koode seems to have got Prithviraj back to winning ways and his performance is also getting appreciation from all corners. Meanwhile, the actor is also getting ready to start shooting for his directorial debut, Lucifer starring Mohanlal in the lead. The movie is set to go on floors from this 16th.

Ever since the project was announced, there have been all sorts of rumors and loose talks about its genre. Prithviraj, in a recent interview to Film Companion, confirmed that Lucifer has politics as its backdrop. Murali Gopy, known for penning films like Left Right Left and Ee Adutha Kaalath, has scripted Lucifer. It has been a long while since Mohanlal has done a political film, so the excitement level is high among the fans.

Prithviraj had earlier hinted that Lucifer like all other Murali Gopy scripts, will be an intense film that demands strong performances from the actors. He is hoping to make Lucifer as a film which is worthy of Mohanlal as an actor and a star. Vivek Oberoi and Indrajith have already been confirmed in the movie’s cast. Tovino Thomas, Murali Gopy, Manju Warrier and ‘Queen’ fame Saniya Iyappan are also rumoured to be part of Lucifer but the makers are yet to give an official word.

In the technical crew, Sujith Vaassudev will be cranking the camera and Deepak Dev has been signed as the music director. Antony Perumbavoor is producing the movie under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. Kuttikanam, Vandiperiyar, Trivandrum and Mumbai have been finalized as the major locations.

Vijay Sethupathi starrer Junga is gearing up to hit screens on the 27th of this month. The movie also marks the actor’s debut outing as a producer. Gokul is directing this movie which is touted be a fun filled entertainer. ‘Vanamagan’ fame Sayyeshaa is paired opposite Vijay Sethupathi while Malayali actress Madonna Sebastian is also there in a crucial role in this movie.

Junga is Madonna’s third film with Vijay Setupathi after starring alongside him in ‘Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum’ and ‘Kavan’. Their on-screen chemistry in both the movies were well appreciated. In a recent press meet held as part of Junga promotions, Madonna was all praise of Vijay Sethupathi.

She is quoted saying, “Vijay is like family to me. He is one of the finest actors I’ve ever come across. He made it so much easier for me than it would have been. I finished shooting for the movie in around 10-11 days but that is when I got into the groove of it. I missed the shooting from then. Since then I have been asking director Gokul about the release and its finally coming to screens this month.”

Junga is Vijay Setupathi’s second film with Gokul after the comic caper Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara (IAB). Junga is said to be a rom-com entertainer, which according to the makers, will be a lot more quirkier and interesting than the duo’s previous outing, IAB. Vijay Sethupathi plays a don in the movie which is majorly set in Paris.

Shoot for Dulquer Salmaan’s Oru Yamandan Premakadha (OYP) is currently processing in Kochi. The movie, which marks the actor’s comeback to Malayalam cinema after a year long gap, is being directed by debutant BC Noufal. Bibin George and Vishnu Unnikrishnan have jointly scripted the movie.

Just like the writer duo’s previous films, Amar Akbar Anthony and Kattapanayile Rithwik Roshan, OYP is also said to be a mass comedy entertainer. The multi-talented Nadirshah who composed music for the aforementioned two films is handling the music department in OYP as well. Last day, he recorded a song with Vineeth Sreenivasan for the movie. This is said to be a typical Nadirshah style song with fast beats and quirky lyrics. BK Harinarayanan has penned the lyrics.

Oru Yemandan Premakadha has Dulquer playing the role of a local painter. The story is reportedly set in the Fort Kochi and Mattanchery region, a terrain explored numerous times in Malayalam cinema. But the audience can expect to see an unseen fun side of Dulquer in this movie. Besides scripting, Vishnu and Bibin are also playing crucial roles in the movie. The makers have planned to cast a newbie as Dulquer’s heroine. Soubin Shahir, Ramesh Pisharody, Nandini and Salim Kumar are also part of the supporting cast.
