Vysakh pins high hopes on his upcoming movie with Nivin Pauly!

After delivering the all-time blockbuster ‘Pulimurugan’, director Vyskah has been on a break for nearly two years now. He is now getting ready to start shooting for Raja 2, his upcoming movie with megastar Mammootty. The movie, which is a spin-off on the character Raja from ‘Pokkiriraja’, is slated to go on floors this coming July. After completing the first schedule of Raja 2, Vysakh will start works for his upcoming movie with young star Nivin Pauly.

Udhayakrishna has scripted this movie, which is an action-romantic film set in the backdrop of a campus. Vysakh has pinned high hopes on this movie as this is the first time an actor from the younger generation is doing a full on mass action flick. According to the makers, it will be a perfect family entertainer with equal dose of action, humour and romance. This yet-to-be titled movie will start rolling from September. Vaishaka Rajan will be producing the movie under the banner of Vaishaka Films.

Nivin Pauly meanhwile is recovering from an injury he suffered during the shoot of Kayamkulam Kochunni. He is expected to join the team soon for the final schedule which is planned in Sri Lanka. After the completion of Kayamkulam Kochunni, he will start shooting for Dhyan Sreenivasan’s directorial debut, Love Action Drama, which has him sharing screen space with Nayanthara. More details about his next with Vysakh are expected to be announced in the coming days.

As we already know, director Arun Gopy, of ‘Ramaleela’ fame is teaming up with Pranav Mohanlal for his next. Tomichan Mulakupadam is producing the movie under his banner Mulakupadam Films. This upcoming movie is said to be a romantic-action entertainer.

If reports are to be believed, this yet-to-be titled movie will start rolling from June in Vagamon. Apparently, the makers are planning to wrap up the shoot by November to ensure a grand release for this year’s Christmas season.

Expectations are high among the audience since both Arun Gopy and Pranav have started off their careers with blockbuster hits; Ramaleela and Aadhi, respectively. Pre-production works for their upcoming movie including location scouting and casting process is still progressing.

The makers are currently on the look for a suitable girl from the age group of 18-24 to play Pranav’s pair in the movie. The first round of auditions was held in Dubai last month and second round is scheduled to be held in Kochi on April 21.

Official announcement of the movie’s title and details regarding the full cast and crew is expected to be made very soon.

Mohanlal finishes his portions for Kayamkulam Kochunni

As we already know, Mohanlal is playing the role of Ithikkara Pakki in the Nivin Pauly starrer Kayamkulam Kochunni. Roshan Andrews is directing this movie and the National award winning writer duo Bobby and Sanjay have scripted it. Last day, the director took to his social media to inform that Mohanlal has finished his portions for the movie. Roshan also uploaded a stunning still of Mohanlal as Ithikkara Pakki.

Mohanlal’s new avatar with his trimmed physique and styling instantly reminds one of a Gladiator or Maximus. Kayamkulam Kochunni promises to be an absolute treat for his fans. The movie is based on the life of legendary highwayman Kochunni, who was active in 19th century in the Travancore region. Nivin Pauly plays Kochunni’s role in the movie.

As per the makers, Mohanlal as Ithikara Pakki makes his appearance at a very crucial juncture in the story and has around 40 minutes screen time. Ithikara Pakki is known to be the first legendary Robin Hood of Kerala; he and Kochunni were contemporaries. It was Pakki who started the unique style of robbing, which was later continued by Kochunni. Combination scenes between Mohanlal and Nivin Pauly would be the movie’s major highlight.

Kayamkulam Kochunni also stars Priya Anand, Sunny Wayne, Babu Antony and Kannada actress Priyanka Thimmesh. The team will soon be heading to Sri Lanka for the final schedule. Gokulam Gopalan of Sri Gokulam Films is producing this big budget movie.

Mammootty’s Uncle is an eagerly awaited movie, getting ready for release. Actor Joy Mathew has scripted this movie, which marks the directorial debut of Gireesh Damodar, a former associate of Ranjith and Padmakumar. As informed earlier by us, the official trailer of Uncle was released today evening in social medias.

Uncle is Joy Mathew’s second outing as a scriptwriter after the critically acclaimed ‘Shutter’. Just like his previous movie, Uncle also looks like a socially relevant film. It is the story of a teeange girl and her father’s friend. CIA fame Karthika Muraleedharan and Mammootty play these two lead roles in the movie.

Apparently, the core plot is set in the journey of Mammootty’s character Krishnakumar aka KK from Ooty to Kozhikode. KK, a Mumbai based businessman, is accompanied by his friend’s daugther in this trip. It is about an unusual situation a middle class family is made to face. The social and political setting of Kerala is of much prominence in the movie.

Mammootty will be seen in a different role altogether in the movie. He is sporting a salt and pepper bearded look for his character, which is said to be a grey shaded one. Expectations are high for this movie among the audience, including the fans and commoners, as Mammootty is playing such a performance-oriented character after a long while.

Uncle also stars Joy Mathew, Asha Sharath, Ganapathi, Vinay Forrt, Suresh Krishna, Kailash, KPAC Lalitha and Muthumani in supporting roles. Its technical crew includes veteran cinematographer Azhagappan, composer Bijibal and editor Shameer Muhammed.

Joy Mathew and Sajai Sebastian are jointly funding the movie under their banners of Abra Films International and SJ Films. Reports suggest that Uncle will hit screens on April 27 but an official word is still awaited.

National award winner Suraj Venjaramoodu’s next outing as a lead actor, ‘Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri’, is gearing up for release. The movie directed by Jean Markose of ‘Angels’ fame has Suraj playing the lead role of Kuttanpilla, a senior police constable. Joselet Joseph has scripted this movie as a family drama. The movie’s recently released trailer is getting good response from the viewers in social medias.

The 1 minute 38 second trailer is intriguing with some good dose of realistic family drama. Suraj plays the role of Plachottil Kuttan Pillai, a 58-year-old police constable. The plot is centred around a series of events that occur in Kuttan Pillai’s house when his relatives – his children, their spouses and extended family – converge at his humble home to attend the annual Shiva Rathri festival.

Biju Sopanam of ‘Uppum Mulakum’ fame and Srinda play a couple in the movie. Mithun Ramesh, Srikant Murali, Kochu Preman, Poojappura Radhakrishnan, Rajesh Manarkad and James Eliyas are also part of the supporting cast. Fazil Nazer has handled the cinematography and Shibish K Chandran is in charge of the edits. The movie marks the debut of playback singer Sayanora Philip as a music director. The ‘Chakku Pattu’ composed by Sayanora has already emerged as a hit.

Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri is produced by Raji Nandakumar under the banner of Alanghat Productions.

Malayali: Shaan Rahman to compose for Sathyan Anthikad’s next with Fahadh Faasil

As reported by us earlier, the evergreen combo of Sathyan Anthikad and Sreenivasan are making after sixteen long years. Their upcoming movie titled as ‘Malayali’ has the extremely talented Fahadh Faasil in the lead role. Sethu Mannarkad of Full Moon Cinema will be producing the movie, which is set to go on floors from the first week of July.

From the title Malayali, we presume that the movie will be a typical Sreenivasan style satire that discusses about the socio-political issues that an average Malayali is facing currently. In the technical crew, the makers have signed cinematographer S Kumar and music director Shaan Rahman.

Sathyan Anthikad has mostly worked with senior musicians like Ilayaraja and Vidyasagar. This is his first outing with a young composer like Shaan Rahman and it promises to be a refreshing change. Shaan is among the most wanted composers in Mollywood right now. Although Shaan has worked with directors like Ranjith and Lal Jose, most of his collaboration have been with young filmmakers.

Of late, some his tracks like ‘Jimikki Kammal’ (Velipadinte Pusthakam) and ‘Manikyamalaraya’ (Oru Adaar Love) have went on to become sensational hits. He has his kitty full with films like My Story, Chanakya Thantram, Love Action Drama, Aravindante Athidhikal, 9 etc coming up.

‘Lady superstar’ Nayanthara is as busy as ever with a handful of projects in multiple languages. As per latest reports, the pretty actress has committed for a new project in Malayalam. She has been signed to play the lead in a female-oriented movie titled ‘Kottayam Qurbana’. Kerala State Award winner Unni R is scripting this movie which will be directed by debutant Mahesh Vettiyar.

Of late, Nayanthara has mostly taken up movies with strong female characters and Kottayam Qurbana also promises to be one. The plot set in Kottayam is centred around the lead character, played by Nayanthara. Along with her, a leading actor from Malayalam will also be there in a crucial role.

Director Mahesh Vettiyar has years of expected in the ad film and animation industry. He will be trying to make a mark with his first film itself. Unni R has proven his mettle as a writer with movies like 5 Sundarikal (segment Kullante Bharya), Munnariyippu and Charlie. For his upcoming movie with such a big star like Nayanthara, expectations will certainly be on the higher side.

Kottayam Qurbana will be produced under the banner of Full On Studios. Ace cinematographer Madhu Neelakantan will be cranking the camera and last year’s State award winner Appu Bhattathiri will be editing the movie. More details regarding the supporting cast and when the movie goes on floors have not yet been announced.

Nayanthara is currently busy shooting for the magnum opus Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy in which she is sharing screen space with superstars like Chiranjeevi and Amitabh Bachchan. After that she is expected to join the sets of Dhyan Sreenivasan’s directorial debut Love Action Drama, in which she will be acting alongside Nivin Pauly for the first time. Kolaiyuthir Kaalam, Imaikkaa Nodigal and Kolamaavu Kokila are her upcoming movies in Tamil.

Promising young filmmaker John Paul George, who made an impressive debut with ‘Guppy’ announced his second film on Vishu Day (April 15). Titled as ‘Ambili’, this upcoming movie has Soubin Shahir in the lead role. Nazriya Nazim’s younger brother Naveen Nazim is making his acting debut with this movie. Another newcomer Tanvi Ram is also playing a major role in the movie.

The movie’s title along with the first look poster was unveiled last day by the director through his official Facebook page. Ambili is said to be a road drama which has been planned to be shot in various states across the country.

Saran Velayudhan, a noted cinematographer in the ad film industry, will be cranking the camera for this movie. Vishnu Vijay, who won the Kerala State award for background music for his work in Guppy, has been retained for Ambili. Kiran Das of ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ fame will be handling the edits.

Mukesh R Mehta, AV Anoop and CV Sarathy are jointly producing Ambili under the banner of E4 Entertainment. Interestingly, Guppy was also produced by the same banner. Ambili will start rolling soon and is slated to hit screens by the end of this year.

Last evening, on the occasion of Vishu, the first look poster of Mammootty’s much awaited movie ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’ was released in social medias. The first look featuring a Mammootty has taken social medias by storm as it continues to trend virally. Haneef Adeni of ‘The Great Father’ fame has scripted this movie, touted to be a cop-action thriller. Shaji Padoor, a veteran associate director who has been in the industry for over two decades, is making his directorial debut with this movie.

Abrahaminte Santhathikal has Mammootty playing the role of a police assistant superintendent Derick Abraham. The movie promises to be a stylish one, on the lines of ‘The Great Father’. Young promising actir Anson Paul, noted for his roles in Solo, Aadu 2 and Oozham, is playing a crucial role as Mammootty’s brother in the movie.

Kaniha, Siddique, Kalabhavan Shajon and newbie Maria John are part of the movie’s supporting cast. The technical crew comprises of cinematographer Alby Antony, composer Gopi Sunder and editor Mahesh Narayanan, who turned a director last year with the widely acclaimed ‘Take Off’.

Recently, the satellite rights of Abrahaminte Santhathikal was bagged by market leader Surya TV for a huge price. The exact amount has yet not been disclosed but it is said to be one of the highest ever for a Mammootty starrer. Joby George is producing the movie under the banner of Goodwill Entertainment.

Asianet bags Love Action Drama satellite rights for record price!

As we had reported earlier, actor Dhyan Sreenivasan is turning a director with a fun entertainer starring Nivin Pauly and Nayanthara. The movie titled ‘Love Action Drama’ (LAD) was initially planned is set to go on floors by May. Actor Aju Varghese is venturing into production by funding this movie jointly with Vishak Subramaniam under the banner of Funtastic Films.

Market leader Asianet has acquired the satellite rights of the movie even before the commencement of shoot. Reportedly, they have bagged the rights for a record price. They also have included a clause by which the rates will go higher if the movie runs for more than 25 days in 30 centres. That speaks volumes about the kind of expectations surrounding this movie. Nivin and Nayanthara teaming up for the first time is one of the major attractions of LAD.

Dhyan himself has scripted this movie, which is actually a modern day take on the yesteryear hit film ‘Vadakkunokkiyanthram’, directed by his father Sreenivasan. Interestingly, the lead characters in LAD are also named as Dineshan and Shobha. Following the announcement of the title and character names, it was speculated that the movie will be a spoof.

However, Dhyan has clarified that it is not a spoof but a romantic comedy. Nivin Pauly’s character will have a few similarities to Dineshan of Vadakkunokkiyanthram, but there will be no other resemblance. Aju Varghese and Urvashi will also be seen in prominent roles in the movie. Nivin will be losing weight before LAD goes on floors as character demands a youthful look.
