Lilli: E4 Entertainment’s next after the super hit Sudani From Nigeria

E4 Entertainment is one of the most popular production houses in Mollywood, well known for backing small films. They last distributed debutant Zakariya’s ‘Sudani From Nigeria’ which is garnering rave reviews from all corners. The movie starring Soubin Shahir, African actor Samuel Robinson and a bunch of newcomers has already emerged as a successful affair at the box office.

Meanwhile, E4 Entertainment has launched a new initiative, E4 Experiment, with the aim of introducing young talents to the industry. Debutant Prasobh Vijayan’s Lilli is the maiden film to come under this banner. Last day, on the occasion of Easter, the makers officially released the movie’s first look poster.

It is an intriguing first look poster featuring a bruised Samyukhtha, the lead actress. Samyuktha, Aryan Menon and Kannan Nair are probably the only known faces in Lilli. Actors like Dhanesh Anand, Sajin Cherukayil and Kevin Jose are making their debut with this movie.

Earlier, the makers had released an highly impressive motion poster which got good response and fetched over eight lakh views in Facebook alone. It is a remarkable achievement considering the fact that the movie does not boast of any big names. Lilli’s technical crew comprises of debutant cinematographer Sreeraj Raveendran, composer Sushin Shyam and last year’s State award winning editor Appu Bhattathiri.

Lilli is gearing up to hit screens this coming July.

Sam CS thrilled to compose background score for Odiyan!

Sam CS is currently one of the most wanted composers in Tamil cinema. He shot to fame with his stellar work in the Pushkar-Gayatri directorial Vikram Vedha. Soon after the release of the movie, he got plenty of offers, including from Bollywood for background score. But Sam didn’t take up any as he believed in contributing as a wholesome package for a movie.

However, when the offer for Mohanlal’s Odiyan came, he couldn’t refuse it. He was intrigued by the premise and the fact that he could use ancient ethnic Kerala musical instruments to compose for the movie. The Shrikumar Menon directorial has a theme that has rarely been experimented in Indian cinema. It is a mass-fantasy entertainer with a mix of action, romance and magical realism.

Odiyan, scripted by National award winner Harikrishnan is primarily about ‘odividya’, a kind of black magic. People who practice it are called ‘odiyans’. Odiyans lived in mediveal Kerala and this movie is set in three different timelines from pre-electricty days in the 1950s to 2000.

For Odiyan’s background score, Sam has used many ethnic instruments including a 6 feet long bamboo instrument to compose a piece. Interestingly, there was only woman who could play it and she was brought in to set tunes for a particular score. Sam’s ‘Odi.. Odi.. Odiyan’ score in the movie’s teaser has already become a hit among the fans.

Meanwhile, shoot for Odiyan is nearing completion. Entire shoot has been planned to be wrapped up by the end of April and is expected to release this year itself. The movie is produced by Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas.

Sayoojya Das Swasala – Abrid Shine introduces a new female composer to Malayalam cinema!

Abrid Shine’s latest release Poomaram continues to get good response from the audience. Even if there are mixed reactions about the movie’s unconventional treatment and its storytelling pattern, one thing that has been getting unanimously positive reviews is its music. The director had hired the services of about ten different composers and they have all given their best possible output for the movie.

Abrid Shine has introduced a bunch of talented youngsters through Poomaram and one among them is Sayoojya Das Swasala. This 24-year-old has composed a lovely song in the movie, lyrics for which was penned by BK Harinarayanan. Karthik, one of South India’s leading playback singers has rendered this beautiful track, titled ‘Oru Mamarathinte Nerukil’.

As part of finding new talents for his movie, director Abrid Shine had visited the Kerala University to meet the inter-university level winners. Sayoojya was the South Zone winner then and that’s how she got to meet the director. Impressed by her works, Abrid Shine roped in Sayoojya to compose a song for the movie. Ever since the release of Poomaram, Sayoojya has been getting a lot of appreciation for her composition. She looks up to Abrid Shine as her godfather and owes all her success to him.

Sayoojya, a post graduate from the famous Swathi Thirunal Music College, is now following the path of Indian female music composers like Usha Khanna, Bhavathirini, AR Raihana, Neha Nair and Sayanora to turn an independent music director. She has been getting some offers post Poomaram and might take up one soon.

We, at Onlookers Media, wish Sayoojya all success for her future endeavours.

Actor Joy Mathew has scripted this movie, which marks the directorial debut of Gireesh Damodar, a former associate of Ranjith and Padmakumar. As informed last day by us, the official first look poster of the movie has been released by the makers in social medias.

Uncle is Joy Mathew’s second outing as a scriptwriter after the widely acclaimed ‘Shutter’. Just like his previous movie, Uncle is also said to be a socially relevant film. It is the story of a 17-year-old girl and her dad’s friend. Reportedly, the plot is set in the journey of Mammootty’s character Krishnakumar aka KK from Ooty to Kozhikode. He is accompanied by his friend’s daugther in the trip. It is about an unusual situation a middle class family is made to face. The social and political setting of Kerala is of much prominence in the movie.

Mammootty will be seen in a different role altogether in the movie. He is sporting a salt and pepper bearded look for his character, which is said to be a performance oriented one. Tovino Thomas to sport two different looks for Dhanush’s Maari 2

Tovino Thomas is one actor who is willing to put in that extra bit of effort to get into the skin of a character. He tries to sport different looks to avoid repetition and we can see that change quite evidently in all his recent movies. Tovino is continuing the same for his first straight Tamil movie Maari 2, in which will be appearing in two different looks.

Maari 2 has Tovino playing the villain opposite Dhanush. He has already shot for a day for the movie and will be resuming shoot very soon. Balaji Mohan, who helmed the first part, is directing the sequel as well. Sai Pallavi, Varalaxmi Sarath Kumar and Krishna will also be seen in major role in Maari 2.

Tovino’s casting came as a big surprise but director Balaji Mohan had clear plans while roping him in. Even though the first part, Maari, was not a big hit, it had a wide reach. So the director collected feedback on what went wrong in the movie. While scripting, he took all that into consideration, and first designed the antagonist. The script was later developed from him. As it shaped up, the role demanded an intense actor and that’s how they signed Tovino Thomas. It will be interesting to see the face-off between Dhanush and Tovino.

Tovino is currently awaiting the release of Theevandi, directed by debutant Fellini TP. The movie has him playing yet another different character – a rustic chain smoker. August Cinema is funding this movie slated to hit screens by the end of April. Tovino also has Abiyude Katha Anuvinteyum, Oru Kuprasidha Payyan and Maradona coming up this year.

If reports are to be believed, Keerthy Suresh is being considered for the role of YSR’s daughter in the movie. The makers have already got the approval from YSR’s family members for the biopic. Keerthy enjoys popularity among the Telugu audience and the makers are keen to sign her for the movie. The actress is yet to give her nod as her dates are blocked due to the ongoing TNFPC strike. According to director Mahi Raghav, Yatra is an event-based film which primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s three-month-long padayatra in 2003. The padayatra was a defining moment in his career which transformed him into a people’s leader. Yatra will be produced jointly by Vijay Chilla and Shashi Devi under the banner of 70mm Entertainments.
