Audio launch of Fahadh Faasil’s Carbon to be held tomorrow!

Fahadh Faasil’s Carbon is one of the most awaited Malayalam movies of 2018. It is a very exciting film as it has some big names associated with it. KU Mohanan, who has wielded the camera several Hindi films is making his Malayalam debut with Carbon. Multiple national award winning director-composer Vishal Bhardwaj is handling the music department and director Venu’s wife Beena Paul, who is also a National award winner, is editing the movie. The recently released trailer has heightened the expectations among the audience.

The audio launch of Carbon will be held tomorrow (December 29) at Lulu Mall, Kochi. Lead actor Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya Nazim, director Venu ISC, editor Beena Paul, cinematographer KU Mohanan, music director Vishal Bhardwaj and his wife will be present at the launch event.

In Carbon, Fahadh Faasil is playing the role of Sibi, a rustic youth from Kottayam. It is said to be a very challenging character and our sources close to the unit inform that Fahadh has given yet another spectacular performance. So, that is another reason to wait for this movie. The highly talented Mamta Mohandas plays the female lead.

The movie also has a big supporting cast which includes Soubin Shahir, Sharafudheen, Manikandan Achari, Dileesh Pothan, Ashokan, Lena, Spadikam George, Nedumudi Venu, Vijayaraghavan, Kochu Preman and ‘Guppy’ fame Master Chethan Lal among others.

Carbon is being produced jointly by Sibi Thottapuram and Navis Xaviour under the banner of Poetry Film House. An official announcement about the movie’s release date is expected to be made very soon.

Sunny Leone, who is popular for her glitzy roles, recently decided that she will not be doing any glamour roles or item songs hereafter. Following that, the actress had signed her maiden South Indian project. Sunny will be seen as a warrior queen in an upcoming period flick to be directed by Telugu filmmaker VC Vadivudaiyan.

The makers unveiled the movie’s title last day in Sunny Leone’s presence. This period flick has been titled as Veeramadevi. One can’t help but notice the title’s similarity to Anushka Shetty’s Rudramadevi, which is also an epic period film.

Veermadevi is a VFX heavy project and the makers are planning it on a huge scale. Sunny Leone will be undergoing training in horse riding and sword fights for playing the warrior queen’s role. Veteran actor Nasser and Telugu actor Navadeep will also be seen in prominent roles in the movie.

Ponse Stephen is producing this big budget movie, which is slated to go on floors in January. The makers have roped in the technicians who have worked with 2.0 and Baahubali for the CG works. It is being planned as a trilingual in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. The movie will be shot across Kerala, Chennai and Hyderabad.

Priyadarshan is remaking last year’s super hit Malayalam movie Maheshinte Prathikaram in Tamil. Udhayinidhi Stalin is playing the lead role in this movie titled as ‘Nimir’. Malayali actresses Namitha Pramod and Parvati Nair will be seen as the two female leads.

Recently, superstar Mohanlal had watched the movie in a special screening organized by the makers. After the show, Mohanlal had praised Udhayinidhi Stalin for his realistic performance. Incidentally, the first look poster of Nimir was also unveiled by the superstar. Here it is worth a mention that Mohanlal is a big fan of the original film, Maheshinte Prathikaram as he himself has said this through his Facebook page.

Maheshinte Prathikaram is unarguably one of the finest Malayalam movies to have released in the last decade or so. Directed by Dileesh Pothan and scripted by Syam Pushkaran, the movie had Fahadh Faasil in the titular role. Apart from becoming a big commercial success, it went on to win numerous accolades including a couple of National Awards as well.

For Nimir, Priyadarshan has slightly tweaked the original script by giving more prominence to humour so as to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience. Actor Samuthirakani is penning the dialogues and he is also playing the villain role in the movie. MS Bhaskar, director Mahendran and Karunakaran are also part of the supporting cast.

Priyadarshan has retained most of his technicians from ‘Oppam’ for this upcoming movie also. NK Ekambaram is the cinematographer and MS Ayyappan Nair is editing the movie. Darbuka Siva and Ajaneesh Loknath is handling the music department. Santhosh T Kuruvilla of Moonshot Entertainment is producing this movie, which is being planned to hit screens on January 26.

Vikram’s Sketch all set for a Pongal release in January!

It has been over a year since Chiyaan Vikram has had a release. His last film to hit screens was Irumugan, which was released back in September 2016. His upcoming movie Sketch is all set for release this coming Pongal holidays in January. The star’s fans are highly excited about the film, which is a complete mass entertainer. The actor sports a handsome look in this new bearded avatar.

Sketch is written and directed by Vijay Chander of Vaalu fame. The movie promises to be an action packed mass entertainer. Tamannah Bhatia plays the female lead, marking her first film with Vikram.

Sketch is a regular commercial pot-boiler set in North Chennai. Veteran actor Radha Ravi, Soori, Priyanka, Malayalam actors Baburaj, Hareesh Perady, Sriman, Ravi Kishan and RK Suresh are also part of the cast. SS Thaman is handling the music department and M Sukumar has taken care of the cinematography.

Director Vijay Chander’s debut movie Vaalu with Simbu and Hansika Motwani in the lead roles, was a failure both critically and commercially. The director will be trying to make up for Vaalu’s debacle with this upcoming Vikram starrer.

Sketch will be facing a stiff competition as Suriya’s Thaana Serntha Koottam, Kalakalappu and Aravind Swamy’s Bhaskar The Rascal are also slated for Pongal release. Sketch is produced by Kalaipuli S Thaanu, who has funded movies like Kabali and Theri.

Pranav Mohanlal’s much awaited debut film as a lead actor Aadhi is gearing up to hit screens early next year. Directed by Jeethu Joseph, Aadhi is said to be an action thriller. The movie’s official trailer was released last Thursday (December 21). Even after almost a week since its release, the trailer is still trending at the number one position in YouTube.

Aadhi’s trailer is a typical Jeethu Joseph style one with no loud music or flashy cuts. A very simple trailer that gives a sneak-peak to the protagonist Aadhi’s life. Pranav Mohanlal plays Adithya Mohan aka Aadhi in the movie. He is an aspiring musician living with his parents in Kochi. Things take a turn once he lands in Bangalore.

Lena and Siddique play Pranav’s parents in the movie. Noted Telugu actor Jagpathi Babu, who was last seen in Malayalam in Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan, is the villain in Aadhi. Anusree, Sharafudheen, Aditi Ravi, Sijoy Varghese, Siju Wilson, Nobi, Tony Luke and Krishna Shankar form the supporting cast.

Pranav’s performance in the fight sequences is said to be the movie’s major highlight. Prior to the movie’s shoot, he had undergone training in Parkour for a few months in Bangkok as his character in the movie demanded such traits. Foreign stunt masters were flown in to choreograph the stylish Parkour scenes.

Satheesh Kurup is cranking the camera and Ayoob Khan is in charge of the edits. Interestingly, Pranav has also penned and lent his voice for an English retro track in the movie. Anil Johnson, a regular in Jeethu Joseph films, is handling the music department in Aadhi as well.

Antony Perumbavoor is producing this movie under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. The makers are eyeing a Republic Day release in January but an official confirmation regarding the same has not yet been made.

The character introduction teaser of Party was released last night via YouTube. It is a fun teaser that instantly reminds one of Goa, with an island setting, casinos and night life.

Party has a stellar star cast led by Malayalam actor Jayaram, Sathyaraj, Jai, Shiva, Shaam, Nivetha Pethuraj, Sampath, Naseer, Ramya Krishnan, Sanchitha Shetty and Regina Cassandra. Jayaram rocks the teaser in his stylish grey bearded avatar. He plays Rajashekhara Pandian aka RSP and it looks like he has a very solid role in the movie.

Jayaram has previously worked with director Venkat Prabhu in Saroja, which was released back in 2008 He played an antagonist in the movie. Venkat Prabhu is a director who very well knows the pulse of the Tamil audience and he is popular for churning out commercial entertainers. After the widely acclaimed Shutter, actor Joy Mathew is scripting Uncle which stars Mammootty in the lead. Gireesh Damodar, a former associate of Ranjith and Padmakumar, is making his directorial debut with this movie. Shoot has already been completed and is currently in the post-production stage.

Uncle is the story of a 17-year-old girl and her dad’s friend, whom she fondly calls uncle. It is about an unusual situation a family is made to face. Like Joy Mathew’s Shutter, the social and political setting of Kerala is of much prominence in Uncle as well.

Mammootty will be seen in a different role altogether in the movie. He is sporting a slat and pepper bearded look for his character, which offers him a lot of scope for performance. Talks are abuzz that Mammootty is playing a grey shaded role in the movie. It will be refreshing since the actor has not done such a role in a long while. His negative acts in films like Paleri Manikyam and Vidhyean are still etched in the memories of the Malayali audience.

Karthika Muraleedharan, who made her debut earlier this year with Dulquer Salmaan’s Comrade In America (CIA), is playing a pivotal role in Uncle. The movie also stars Joy Mathew, Asha Sharath, Vinay Forrt, Suresh Krishna, Kailash, Sheela and Muthumani in supporting roles.

After Mersal, Atlee in talks for a Prabhas film!

Director Atlee is currently on a high after delivering the all-time blockbuster Mersal with Vijay. The movie is nearing the 100 day mark in theaters and is still being screened in a few centers in Tamil Nadu. It has already emerged as an industrial hit by entering the elite Rs 250 crore club. If reports are to be believed Atlee is currently in talks with ‘Baahubali’ star Prabhas for his next film.

Reportedly, Atlee approached Prabhas through Mersal’s co-writer KV Vijayendra Prasad, who has also scripted the Baahuabli franchise. Prabhas has shown interest in the Atlee’s subject after being impressed with the director’s previous films like Theri and Mersal. There is still no official confirmation about the project materializing as talks are still in the early stages.

With the blockbuster success of his all three films – Raja Rani, Theri, Mersal – Atlee has established himself as one of the leading filmmakers in Tamil cinema currently. A former associate of ace filmmaker Shankar, Atlee is known for his ability to helm big commercial films.

Meanwhile, Prabhas is busy shooting for Saaho directed by Sujeeth. It is a big budget film which has a plethora of actors from industries across the country. Bollywood diva Shraddha Kapoor is playing the female lead. Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mandira Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Tamil actor Arun Vijay, Lal and Tinnu Anand are playing prominent roles in the movie.

Following the phenomenal success of Baahubali, Prabhas has become a nationwide sensation. To cash in on his huge popularity, the makers are planning to release Saaho as a trilingual in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati are jointly funding this film under the banner of UV Creations. The movie is expected to hit screens by the end of next year.
