High expectations for Mammootty’s upcoming releases!

Megastar Mammootty has had mixed 2018 so far with two failures and one big blockbuster. While his Puthan Panam and Pullikkaran Staraa tanked at the box office, The Great Father minted big bucks and emerged as the star’s highest grosser in recent years. For the upcoming season, Mammootty has a list of exciting films down the line. Let’s take a look at some of the most expected films among them.

Masterpiece

Masterpiece is easily the most anticipated among the Christmas releases in Malayalam. Directed by Ajai Vasudev of Rajadhiraja fame, Masterpiece is a complete mass entertainer set in the backdrop of a campus. It is writer Udhayakrishna’s next film after the historic success of Pulimurugan and hence expectations are naturally on the higher side. Mammootty plays the role of a professor in this film which also stars Unni Mukundan, Gokul Suresh, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Mahima Nambiar, Poonam Bajwa and Mukesh in major roles.

Streetlights

Not much is known about this film except the fact that it is a stylish crime thriller. Cinematographer Shamdat is making his directorial debut with this movie, which features the megastar as an investigating officer. Shot simultaneously as a bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam, the movie is also being dubbed in Telugu. The technical crew mostly comprises of youngsters and that is likely to offer a lot of freshness to the overall product. Like his fans, Mammootty has also pinned high expectations on this project, which is evident from the fact that he is producing it in all three languages. It is scheduled for a January release.

Uncle

Mammootty after a while is playing a role of age role and that sends out a very positive vibe about this movie. Scripted by actor Joy Mathew, this movie marks the directorial debut of Gireesh Damodar. Like Joy Mathew’s Shutter, Uncle also has a socially relevant subject. It is centered around a 17 year old girl and her father’s friend. As per reports, Mammootty has got a performance oriented role in this film, so the audience are eagerly waiting for this one.

Peranbu

There is an eternal wait for this film from both the Tamil and Malayali cinephiles. Directed by National award winner Ram, this movie marks the return of Mammootty to Tamil cinema after a long gap. It has been widely reported that Mammootty has given a sterling perfomance in the movie which has the potential to several top awards. Transgender model Anjali Ameer is playing a major role in this movie. Peranbu is also being dubbed in Malayalam.

Parole

Mammootty is currently working on this film. Sharrath Sandith, a noted ad filmmaker is directing this movie. It is said to be based on some real life incidents and Mammootty plays the role of a convict. From what we hear, his role in Parole is a very complex one with a lot of scope for performance. The movie is being made with high secrecy which has further piques the curiosity of the audience.

Overall if you see, Mammootty has a mix of both mass entertainers and some subject heavy films. Besides the aforementioned ones, the megastar is also doing some mega projects like Kunjali Marakkar and Mamankam. So, some exciting times ahead for all the fans out there

Vijay Sethupathi donates Rs 49.70 lakhs for educational development in Tamil Nadu!

Vijay Sethupathi is one of the very few Tamil actors who is rarely seen in advertisements. The actor recently signed a deal with the ‘Anil Product’ group for endorsement. Known for his generosity, Vijay Sethupathi has donated a whopping sum of Rs 49.70 lakhs for the development of educational institutions in the state of Tamil Nadu.

Vijay Sethupathi is donating the money in memory of medical aspirant Anitha, who recently committed suicide after her longtime dream to become doctor was shattered due to the controversial NEET exam. In a press statement, the actor has clearly given a break down of how he is donating the money.

Ariyalur, the district to which late Anitha belonged, is one of the state’s most backward districts in terms of education. To provide better education in Ariyalur district, Vijay Sethupathi is donating donate Rs 5000 each to 774 anganwadis (Rs 38,70,000). He is also donating give Rs 50,000 each to the 21 blind and deaf schools in Tamil Nadu (Rs 10,50,000). Along with this another Rs 50,000 is offered to the government aided Helen Keller school for the deaf in Ariyalur district.

This is a truly noble gesture by the actor, who is one of the most revered in the industry. Rightly called ‘Makkal Selvan’, Vijay Sethupathi has raised his voice in all the social and political issues in the society.

Mammootty’s Masterpiece is slated for a grand Christmas release. Fans are highly excited about the release of this mass entertainer directed by Ajai Vasudev. Udhayakrishna, fresh from the historic success of Pulimurugan, is scripting this movie. It is a campus thriller in which Mammootty plays the role of a professor.

Apart from Mammootty, Masterpiece also a host of supporting actors. Unni Mukundan plays a significant role as a police officer. Unni, who was notably absent from the first look posters, has now got an individual character introduction poster. He is playing the role of inspector John Thekkan in the movie.

Along with Unni, Tamil actress Varalakshmi Sarathkumar is also said to be donning the khakis in Masterpiece. The supporting cast alsk includes Gokul Suresh, Mahima Nambiar, Poonam Bajwa, Maqbool Salmaan, Mukesh, Kailas, Kalabhavan Shajon, Santhosh Pandit, Salim Kumar and many others.

Masterpiece looks like a complete mass entertainer with all necessary commercial elements. Reportedly, there are six power-packed action sequences in the movie which each of them choreographed in different style. The team is putting in the best of their efforts to ensure that it turns out to be an absolute treat for all the fans. A final patch up shoot will be held once Mammootty is free from his other commitments.

Royal Cinemas owned by CH Muhammed is producing this movie. It is set for a wide release on December 21.

2017 has been a great year for Biju Menon. The veteran actor has had four releases till now – Rakshadhikari Baiju, Lakshyam, Sherlock Toms and Lavakusha. Rakshadhikari Baiju was a superhit success while Lakshyam and Sherlock Toms were average grosser. The actor has a slew of projects lined up for the coming season.

He recently signed for a film with director G Prajith. A former associate of Vineeth Sreenivasan, Prajith made his debut in 2015 with the superhit Nivin Pauly starrer Oru Vadakkan Selfie. He also remade the movie in Telugu as Meda Meedha Abbayi.

Biju Menon’s next with G Prajith is being scripted by journalist-turned-scenarist Sajeev Pazhoor. He has scripted films like Swapanam and Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum. The latter, released earlier this year, won great acclaim and is widely rated as one of the best films in recent years. Sajeev is also scripting for a film with Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead, which is to be directed by B Unnikrishnan.

Our sources within the industry inform that this upcoming Biju Menon starrer will be a gripping realistic film with good scope for performance. More details regarding the other cast and crew members is expected to be made official soon.

Biju Menon recently finished shooting for Rosapoo, directed by Vinu Joseph, a former associate of Rajeev Ravi. After the completion of Rosapoo, he will be joining the sets of Pramod Mohan’s debut film titled as Orayiram Kinakkalal.

Within a month of its release, Vijay’s Mersal has emerged to an all-time blockbuster status. The Atlee directorial was released on October 17, Diwali day, and soon went on a record breaking spree. The movie recently stormed into the elite Rs 200 crore club from its earnings worldwide. With the Telugu version Adirindhi releasing last day to excellent response, the figures are only going up.

Vijay, who is well known for his benevolence, has donated a sum of Rs 15 lakhs to the South Indian film dancers union. A very kind hearted gesture by the star to fund the union. It has a become a habit of sorts for Vijay to help an union or organization after every film release. He also gifts gold chains and coins to his crew members after the completion of shoot.

Vijay recently hosted a posh success party for his Mersal team. The party was attended by almost all the technicians of Mersal. Director Atlee, composer AR Rahman, cinematographer GK Vishnu, editor Ruben, lyricist Vivek and art director T Muthuraj were all present for the party.

Vijay is currently working on the process trying new style and get-ups for his upcoming movie with AR Murugadoss. The film is slated to go on floors by January next year. The movie marks Vijay’s third time association with the ace filmmaker after the blockbuster success of Thuppakki and Kaththi.

Expectations are sky-high among the audience when the duo are teaming up for the third time. An official announcement with details regarding the cast and crew members is expected to be made very soon.

Iraiva: Check out this beautiful track from Sivakarthikeyan-Nayanathra starrer Velaikaaran!

Velaikaaran is a highly anticipated Tamil movie as it has some big names both in the cast as well as the crew. Directed by Mohan Raja, Velaikaaran has a dream star cast comprising of Sivakarthikeyan, Fahadh Faasil, Nayanthara and Sneha in major roles. The movie is gearing up for a Christmas release.

Hotshot composer Anirudh Ravichander is handling the music department in Velaikaaran. The super special lyric video of his single ‘Iraiva+ Uyire’ was released last day by the makers via Sony India’s YouTube channel. Singers Anirudh and Jonita Gandhi feature in the video.

Penned by Viveka, the song brings out two emotions – life and love. This track does sound like two songs merged into one. The mp3 version of the song has already become a hit and is topping the music charts currently.

Earlier, the first single ‘Karuthavellam Kaleejam’ from Velaikaaran went on to become a viral success across all platforms. The local ‘kuthu’ number struck a chord with the listeners as several fan made videos were seen trending in social medias.

Anirudh has a wonderful track record with Sivakarthikeyan and naturally expectations are high for the Velaikaaran album. This is also the first time that he is working with director Mohan Raja. The movie’s audio launch is likely to be held this month.

Like the director’s previous film Thani Oruvan, Velaikkaran is also touted to be commercial entertainer with a very relevant social message in it. The movie has an big supporting cast which includes Prakash Raj, Vijay Vasanth, Thambi Ramiah, RJ Balaji, Rohini and Sathish in supporting roles.

RD Raja’s 24AM Studios is producing this movie. It is slated to hit screens worldwide on December 22.

Mohanlal is currently on a break after a grueling month long schedule of his upcoming movie Odiyan. The superstar is in the process of shedding down his weight before the film’s final schedule starts next year. In the meanwhile, Mohanlal will be working with Bollywood filmmaker Ajoy Varma for a thriller movie.

Mohanlal announced the project last month through his Facebook page. The makers have now released a casting call for male, female and child actors. They are on look for talented actors from Mumbai as the movie’s plot is set in there. Ajoy Varma, a former associate of Gopal Varma and Rajiv Anchal, is making his Malayalam debut with this upcoming movie. He has previously directed a Hindi movie titled SRK. His debut film in Malayalam, which is yet-to-be-titled, is scripted by newcomer Saju Thomas.

As per reports, Meena and Trisha will be seen as the female leads in the movie. Veteran actor Prakash Raj has also been roped in to play a prominent role in the Ajoy Varma film. Apparently, Mohanlal is very excited about this project as he squeezed dates for the movie in between his busy schedule. Mumbai, Pune, Sri Lanka and Thailand have been finalized as the major locations.

This big budget movie is being produced by Santhosh T Kuruvilla’s Moonshot Entertainment and co-produced by John Thomas and Mibu Jose Nettikadan. The makers are planning to start the shoot in December and release it for May next year.

Suraj Venjaramoodu is in that phase of his career where he is getting to play author backed characters. After playing lead roles in films like Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum, Varnyathil Ashanka and the upcoming Kuttan Pillayude Sivarathri, Suraj has bagged yet another one.

As per reports, Suraj will be seen as the lead in B Unnikrishnan’s next film. The movie is being scripted by Sajeev Pazhoor of Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum fame. Reportedly, this movie is based on the BJP government’s demonetisation move and the subsequent events that followed after it was implemented.

The government’s sudden decision to ban higher denomination notes of 500 and 1000 notes had large scale impact in the common man’s daily life. Several movies have already been made based on demonetization and Unnikrishnan’s film is the latest one. The movie is said to be titled as ‘Indiyaye Kandethal’. An official confirmation regarding the same is still awaited.

B Unnikrishnan’s last release was Villain, a crime thriller starring superstar Mohanlal, Vishal and Manju Warrier in major roles. Releasing on October 27, the movie opened to mixed reviews from the critics and commoners. Despite that the movie has managed to hold steady at the box office.

Shoot wrapped up for Pranav Mohanlal’s Aadhi!

After shooting continuously for over three months in Kochi, Bangalore and Hyderabad, Pranav Mohanlal’s Aadhi has finally been wrapped up. Director Jeethu Joseph took to his official Facebook handle to inform about the pack up of Aadhi. Malayalis across the world are eagerly looking forward to this movie as Pranav Mohanlal after years of speculation is finally making his debut as a lead actor.

Aadhi is an action thriller in which Pranav plays the role of an aspiring musician. His character is a typical urban youth who is into music and dance. The recently released first look poster had Pranav performing a Parkour like stunt on a high rise building. Prior to the movie’s shoot, Pranav underwent Parkour training in Bangkok for a few months as his character in the movie demanded such trait.

Parkour is a form of acrobatic physical training that involves crossing obstacles by running, climbing, jumping, rolling and swinging. As we had reported earlier, Parkour scenes will be one of the major highlights in Aadhi. Some highly stylish action sequences in the movie have been choreographed by foreign stunt masters.

Interestingly, Pranav has also penned and lent his voice for an English retro track in the movie. Anil Johnson, a regular in Jeethu Joseph films, is handling the music department in Aadhi as well. He will be recording Pranav’s song once the youngster returns back from Hyderabad.

Aadhi has a strong supporting cast which includes a good mix of veteran and young actors. Noted Telugu actor Jagpathi Babu, who was last seen in Malayalam in Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan, will be seen as the baddie in Aadhi. Anusree, Alamara fame Aditi Ravi, Lena, Siju Wilson, Krishna Shankar, Sharafudheen, Tony Luke, Siddique and Nobi are also part of the movie.

Satheesh Kurup is cranking the camera and Ayoob Khan is in charge of the edits. Antony Perumbavoor is producing this movie under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. The movie is said to be eyeing a Republic Day release but an official announcement has not yet been made.
