Mammootty to star in ace filmmaker Ranjith’s Bilathikadha!

We had recently reported about Ranjith roping in youngsters Niranj and Anu Sithara to play the lead roles in his next. The movie titled as Bilathikadha is scripted by Sethu. There were reports about a superstar also being a part of the cast and the latest we hear is that Mammootty will be doing a guest appearance in the film.

Mammootty and Ranjith have worked together in several films and share a very close bonding. Some of their movies like Kaiyyoppu, Paleri Manikyam: Oru Pathirakolapathakathinte Katha and Pranchiyettan and the Saint were widely acclaimed. The director’s last film Puthan Panam also had Mammootty in the lead.

In Bilathikadha, the megastar will be doing a small yet crucial role. The supporting cast includes actors like Kalabhavan Shajon, Suresh Krishna, Kaniha Dileesh Pothan and Kottayan Nazeer among others. The movie is scripted by noted scenarist Sethu. Incidentally, this is only the third time that Ranjith will be directing a movie for which he has not written the script. This upcoming movie will be shot completely in London. Prashanth Nair will be cranking the camera and Sandeep will be handling the edits.

Bilathikadha is being produced by Maha Subair under the banner of Varnachitra Big Screen.

Vijay Sethupathi was initially approached to play a prominent role in 1971 Beyond Borders!

Vijay Sethupathi is unarguably one of the most talented actors in South Indian cinema. The actor has been making waves with his works in Kollywood. Unlike his contemporaries, Vijay Sethupathi is not tied down by the baggage of expectations. He has showcased his versatile acting skills by being part of many quality films.

The actor has often expressed his admiration for Malayalam cinema and it’s artists. In a recent interview to an UAE based media group, the actor was asked whether he has any plans to act in a Malayalam movie. Vijay Sethupathi then made a very interesting revelation. He was initially approached to play a crucial role in Major Ravi’s war drama 1971 Beyond Borders. He could not do the movie then due to his date issues and other prior commitments.

We presume that Vijay Sethupathi was offered the role of the Tamil soldier which was eventually done by Allu Sirish. The movie was based on the 1971 war fought between India and Pakistan. Mohanlal, Bollywood actor and Allu Sirish played the major roles. Despite coming in with high expectations, the movie ended up as a disappointing affair at the box office.

In the interview, Vijay Sethupathi assured that he will be doing a Malayalam when the right time and project comes. The busy actor currently has around six to seven projects in his kitty. He is presently shooting for Seethakathi, directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan. Gokul’s Junga, C Prem Kumar’s 96 and Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Super Deluxe are some of the projects in the pipeline. He is also part of a couple of multistarrers films – the multilingual Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy and Mani Ratnam’s next.

Tovino’s Tharangam gearing up for release amidst high expectations

With a string of successful outings, Tovino Thomas has established himself as one of the most bankable actors in Mollywood. Following the superhit Godha, Tovino is now awaiting the release of his latest movie Tharangam. The movie is touted to be a black comedy and is all set to hit big screens on September 29 as a Pooja release.

Tharangam, directed by debutant Dominic Arun stars Tovino as a policeman for the second time in his career after Ezra. Newcomer Santhy Balachandran is paired opposite him in this movie. Tovino is playing the role of sub inspector Padmanabhan. He is always accompanied by Balu Varghese’s character Joy, also a policeman. Both of them are suspended from the force for being part of an unauthorised mission that lead to the death of a police officer.

From the trailer, we presume the movie to be a fun filled entertainer with elements of suspense. Director Dominic Arun has jointly scripted the movie along with Anil Narayanan. One of the major attractive features of Tharanagam is the production house under which it is being made.

Tamil actor Dhanush’s own banner Wunderbar Studios is making their entry to Mollywood by funding this movie. They have previously produced some acclaimed films like Kakka Muttai, Visaranai, Naanum Rowdy Dhaan etc. The involvement of Wunderbar Studios has naturally enhanced the expecations for Tharangam.

The movie also stars debutante Neha Iyer, Manoj K Jayan, Dileesh Pothen, Vijayaraghavan, Alencier Ley Lopez, Saiju Kurup, Sijoy Varghese and Shammi Thilakan in supporting roles. Deepak D Menon has cranked the camera and Sreenath S in charge of the edits.

Six stunning action sequences in Mammootty’s Masterpiece

Rajadhiraja fame Ajai Vasudev had earlier informed that his upcoming movie Masterpiece with Mammootty in the lead will be a mass thriller with a campus backdrop. True to the claim, the team have been shooting some power packed action sequences featuring Mammootty. Recently, the director revealed that the movie has six rivetinv action blocks with each of them choreographed in different style.

Unni Mukundan, who is playing a major role in the movie, is very excited about Masterpiece. In a recent international with his followers via Facebook live, the young star said that Masterpiece will be a complete treat for Mammootty fans as they will get to see the action avatar of Megastar here.

Recently, Anal Arasu had choreographed an action block where Mammootty had to fight with around 30 stuntmen. This sequence is said to be one of the major highlights of the film. The team is putting in the best of their efforts to ensure that it turns out to be an absolute treat for the fans.

Masterpiece, written by Udhayakrishna features Mammootty as a college professor. He is playing the role of professor Edward Livingston aka Eddy. The movie has a ensemble star cast which includes Gokul Suresh, Mahima Nambiar, Poonam Bajwa, Maqbool Salmaan, Mukesh, Kalabhavan Shajon, Santhosh Pandit and Salim Kumar among others.

Vinod Ilampally is handling the camera while Deepak Dev is composing the music. Royal Cinemas owned by CH Muhammed is producing this movie. Masterpiece is slated for a grand release this coming November.
