While some are happily sharing the pirated copies of Godha, there are things that we all should know!
After a lot of postponing, Kunjiramayanam fame Basil Joseph’s Godha was finally released on May 19. The movie opened to excellent reports from all the centers with critics and common praising the movie alike. Godha starring Tovino Thomas, Punjabi actress Wamiqa Gabbi and Renji Panicker in the lead roles is a full on entertainer with wrestling as the backdrop. The movie is bankrolled by AV Anoop, CV Sarathy and Mukesh R Mehta under the banner of E4Entertainment.
Even though the movie continues to get great response from most centers, the makers have found themselves in a spot of bother. Some anti-socials have uploaded the pirated prints of Godha in Torrent websites. The fact that the pirated copies have been uploaded after just three days of it’s release is very alarming.
Godha is a movie made on a big scale without a big star, even though Tovino is climbing up the ranks. Unlike Basil Joseph’s debut work Kunjiramayanam, Godha was a script that demanded to be made on a wider canvas with a hefty budget. The producers were willing to invest the amount trusting the ability of a group of youngsters.
Apart from Shaan Rahman, most of the technical crew members have still not established themselves. So it was indeed a big risk from the producers’s side. The team delivered and the movie is getting great response but piracy is something that is out of their reach.
Piracy is a very alarming issue which is plaguing film industries across the world. Months of efforts and hard work of hundreds of people are blown away by spreading the pirated copies. Over the last two years, Malayali audience have shown the interest to watch movies from theaters. The success rates of Malayalam movies in the last two years is a testimony to that.
People have started to realize that cinema should be enjoyed in a theatrical ambience with good picture and sound quality. Despite that there are a few who are still supporting piracy. And what is even more weird is the way they publicize it by posting it on social media pages.
Any movie is a result of continuous hard work and perseverance of hundreds of people and Godha is no different. The lead actors had to undergo rigorous physical training in body building and take formal classes in wrestling. The whole crew endured all the pain and sleepless nights to bring out a quality product, the results of which can be seen in theaters. We request you all not to disregard their hard work by supporting piracy.
