Binu Pappu, the police officer in Sakhavu is late actor Kuthiravattam Pappu’s son

Nivin Pauly starrer Sakhavu was released yesterday (April 15) to great response from the audience. Critics have also rated this political drama as a good watch despite having it’s share of flaws.

The movie, directed by Sidhartha Siva features Nivin in a dual role as Krishna Kumar and Sakhavu Krishnan. The plot is about how Sakhavu Krishnan’s life brings a positive change in Krishna Kumar, an opportunistic new gen politician.

The movie stars a host of supporting actors in Aishwarya Rajesh, Aparna Gopinath, Maniyanpilla Raju, VK Prakash, Binu Pappu Sudheesh, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Sreenivasan, Baiju, Gayathri Suresh and many others. One of the most notable performances among them was that of Binu Pappu’s.

Sakhavu Krishnan’s story is initally narrated through Binu Pappu’s character Prabhakaran. It is a solid character that has shades of grey. SI Prabhakaran is initally against Sakhavu Krishnan and his party. At a particular point, he undergoes a transformation to turn a good person. He later becomes a very close friend of Sakhavu Krishnan and stands by him in all adversities.

Binu Pappu, is the son of late actor Kuthiravattam Pappu. He has previously played a breif role in Aashiq Abu’s Rani Padmini. His performance in Sakhavu is praiseworthy and has grabbed quite a few eyeballs. His voice modulation and change in body language in the two timelines is indeed commendable.

With Sakhavu, Binu Pappan has proven his skills as an actor. If cast in meaty roles in the future, he will certainly be an asset to the Malayalam film industry.

“It’s not that nothing good came my way”, Mohanlal about his absence from Bollywood

Mohanlal, unarguably one of the country’s best actors, has displayed his incredible skills as an actor in his 35 year long career. But most of his works were limited within the boundaries of Malayalam cinema. Despite being such a big superstar, he has acted in only a handful of other language movies.

One of the most memorable roles in his illustrious career is Veerapalli Srinivasan IPS in Ram Gopal Varma’s Company, which was also his debut movie in Bollywood. The movie also starred Ajay Devgn and Vivek Oberoi, a debutant then, in major roles.

Company, released in 2003, was a movie about the gang wars and the Mumbai underworld. It was the second installment in Ram Gopal Varma’s gangster trilogy. The movie was a sensational success winning several awards in the regional and international level.

Recently, Company celebrated it’s 15 years anniversary and Mohanlal had a brief interview with Hindustan Times on the occasion. During the interview, Mohanlal was quizzed about why he didn’t feature in many Bollywood movies after giving such a successful movie like Company. The actor said that his work commitments in Malayalam kept him busy but added that he is still very eager to star in a Bollywood movie.

In the interview, he is quoted saying,
There is no particular reason as such. It is not that I kept away or that nothing good came through in the form of a ‘ right script’ . Non- availability of my dates was one reason . I was unable to give a commitment. I’m very eager to work and be part of a wider screen, let’s hope something good comes my way where it is win -win situation for both.

Post the success of Company, it took another five years for Mohanlal to star in a Hindi movie. He played a major role along with Amitabh Bachchan in the 2007 movie Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag. In 2012, he made a cameo appearance in Tezz directed by Priyadarshan.

Aadujeevitham is not shelved, affirms Prithviraj

Recently there were reports about Prithviraj’s dream project Aadujeevitham with director Blessy being dropped as the actor could not allocate dates in between his busy schedule. These reports spread like wild fire across social medias forcing director Blessy to come out with a statement that the project is indeed on.

Now, Prithviraj himself has assured that the movie is definitely happening while dismissing the reports as completely baseless. The actor, who is currently shooting for his upcoming movie Adam Joan in Scotland, is planning to starting work on Aadujeevitham by the end of next year, in multiple schedules. In between the schedules he will be concentrating on his much awaited directorial debut Lucifer starring Mohanlal in the lead.

Prithviraj updated a Facebook post which reads,

I am shooting in Scotland for Adam Joan at the moment. Happened to read online that my dream film with Blessy “Aadujeevitham” has been shelved as I couldn’t allot dates for it. This is totally baseless and untrue. From Nov 1st 2017 to March 31st 2019, I have allotted dates in phases for this complicated yet dream role, as the film is shot in schedules through the time span of which I have to go through multiple physical transformations. I’m sure you would have guessed what I plan to do in between these schedules..it starts with ‘L’ ?!The script has come out amazingly well and we have assembled a team of world-class technicians for the film. I had met Blessy just 10 days ago and finalised all specifics regarding the shoot plan. I have no clue from where such news is coming from.
Happy Easter and a belated Happy Vishu! Cheers,
Prithvi! ?

Blessy’s Aadujeevitham is based on writer Benyamin’s famous novel of the same name. It is an award winning novel which has won several accolades including the prestigious Kerala Sahitya Akademi award in the year 2009. It is about the life of an abused migrant worker in Saudi Arabia. Prithviraj will be playing the lead role of Najeeb Mohammed from the novel.

Blessy is planning to make the feature film as a multilingual in three languages, Malayalam,Tamil and Hindi. The movie will be produced by GM Film Company.

Sakhavu: Nivin Pauly’s career best performance

The man with the midas touch, Nivin Pauly has had his first release of the year. His much awaited political drama Sakhavu hit screens yesterday (April 15). The movie, directed by National award winner Sidhartha Siva features Nivin in a dual role as Krishna Kumar and Sakhavu Krishnan.

Despite being the most successful among the new generation of actors, Nivin has often been criticised for playing roles within his safe zone. Through Sakhavu, he has given a befitting reply to all his critics.

Nivin Pauly has been getting appreciation from all corners for his performance in the movie. Critics and auidence have unanimously rated it as his career best performance. His roles Krishna Kumar and Sakhavu Krishnan were at two extremes. While the former is a representative of the current gen crooked politicians, Sakhavu Krishnan is what a real communist is. He is a resolute and compassionate comrade willing to go to any extent for the well being of his fellow humans.

Both the characters demanded two different body languages. Nivin was at his usual self as Krishna Kumar, carrying a lazy carefree attitude and cracking jokes with his sidekick Mahesh, played by Althaf. Krishna Kumar was more of a cakewalk for Nivin.

But Sakhavu Krishnan showcased a completely unseen side of Nivin Pauly. The actor carries a contrasting style of body language for that character. He has an aura of a well- read and valiant comrade. Towards the latter half of the movie, he is seen as an aged man with a side paralyzed after suffering a stroke. Nivin looks very convincing in this part and a good share of credits for that should go to the prosthetics team. The actor is terrific as the paralyzed- yet-determined Sakhavu Krishnan. It is not the type of role that one normally associates with Nivin Pauly, but he has come out in flying colours. He has proven his ability to pull off such challenging roles.

Sidhartha Siva also deserves a big round of applause for having the courage to cast Nivin in such a role thus giving a much needed image makeover for the actor. With plum projects like Geetu Mohandas’ Moothon and Shyamaprasad’s Hey Jude lined up, we are looking forward to more from this wonderful actor.

Mammootty starrer The Great Father has successfully entered it’s third week of theatrical run. The movie was released on March 30 to extraordinary response from the audience, registering a new record in the Kerala box office for the initial day collections.

Mammootty’s stylish looks and mass appeal did wonders for the movie. He played the role of David Ninan in this revenge drama, directed by newbie Haneef Adeni.

The movie was a product of unprecedented hype. Prior to the release, there were reports about Mammootty performing a risky stunt sequence for the climax portions. Actor Arya, also one of the producers of the movie, was the first to spill beans about the climax stunt. He was amazed by Mammootty’s dedication and energy to perform stuns at this age without any body doubles.

The movie’s climax features an one on one fist fight between Mammootty and the masked serial killer. The team have now released a making video of how the fight sequence was canned. The 65 year old actor is seen jumping and flying with ropes tied to his body. It is incredible that a veteran actor is willing to go to any extent to perfect the scene.

Here is the making video of The Great Father climax stunt sequence.

Vineeth Sreenivasan, Nivin’s mentor and guru who introduced him through Malarvadi Arts Club praised the actor’s performance and director’s brilliance lately. Vineeth found the movie very interesting and nostalgic.

Vineeth Sreenivasan posted on his Facebook account,

For the past 7 years, what I had seen behind the camera the most was Nivin’s face. He was there with me for my 4 directorial ventures. Maybe because of familiarity, instead of seeing him as a character I always used to see him. But what I spotted in the second half of Sakhavu was just Sakhavu Krishnan. The brilliance Siddharth Shiva had used for the role is much appreciated. Sakhavu Krishnan had given me faces to remember: Chaand Pasha Bhai, who taught me Mappilapattu; Comrade Krishna Pilla, whom I had read about through books and articles; Paattyam Gopalettan, who was the heartthrob of our native; many sincere comrades who had been there with me until teenage. Sakhavu is not just a good film, it also gives a nostalgic feel. It is a must watch for many who walks under the label ‘Sakhavu’. Thank you Siddharth! Nivin.. I’m proud and respect you!

Sakhavu features Nivin in a dual role as Krishnakumar and comrade Krishnan. Both the characters are set in different timelines and hence the actor is seen in two different looks. The actor has been getting a lot of appreciation for his performance as Sakhavu Krishnan, which as of now is the most challenging role in his career.

Aparna Gopinath, Aishwarya Rajesh and Gayathri Suresh have essayed the female leads. Sreenivasan, Prem Kumar, VK Prakash, Sudheesh, Althaf, Santhosh Keezhattoor and many others are also part of the cast. Acclaimed Kollywood cinematographer George C Williams has cranked the camera while music department is handled by Prashanth Pillai. B Rakesh has produced the movie under the banner Universal Cinema.

Dulquer Salmaan’s CIA aka Comrade In America is one of the most awaited Malayalam movies of the year. The movie, directed by Amal Neerad, is all set for a massive release next month.

The hype surrounding CIA is humongous and it is majorly due to the teaming up of Amal Neerad and Dulquer Salmaan. The two have previously worked together in Kullante Bharya, a shortfilm in the anthology 5 Sundharikal. But that movie was very unlike Amal Neerad’s regular flicks that are known for being stylish and unique with the treatment.

From the teaser and tidbits from sources close to the unit of CIA, we can assure you that the movie will be a complete mass entertainer with equal doses of romance, heroism and action.

Dulquer Salmaan fans are waiting with bated breath for a trademark Amal Neerad film. His touch of stylish filmmaking will be the major highlight in CIA. Kerala Box Office : 1971 Beyond Borders Collection Report 5 Days

Kerala Box Office : 1971 Beyond Borders Collection Report 5 Days

Mohanlal – Major Ravi team’s latest outing 1971 Beyond Borders was released on April 7. The movie had a massive release in 405 screens all over India, marking the biggest ever for a Malayalam movie.

1971 Beyond Borders, fourth installment in the Major Mahadevan series had Mohanlal in a dual role. The movie was opened mostly to lukewarm response from the audience. Critics rated the movie with mixed to negative reviews.

All that has reflected on the box office collections. The movie has managed to gross only 5.5 crores from it’s 5 days theatrical run. This is a below average opening considering the fact that Mohanlal’s previous three releases raked in huge numbers at the box office. The movie, released during the Vishu season, has to compete with several biggies like The Great Father, Puthan Panam, Sakhavu and even Take Off. The next few weeks are crucial for 1971 Beyond Borders as the summer holidays are also coming to an end.

The film, based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war was made as a big budget movie with a huge star cast. The director had roped in several actors from other industries like Allu Sirish, Arunoday Singh, Srushti Dange and Priyanka Agarwal to give it a pan Indian appeal.

Unlike Mohanlal’s last few movies, the makers of 1971 Beyond Borders had not invested much on the promotional side and hence the hype was very minimal. Also the fact that Major Ravi- Mohanlal team’s last few movies were failures also worked against this movie. It is produced by Haneef Muhammed under the banner Red Rose Creations.
