Aashirvad Cinemas to produce five movies in the next two years

Aashirvad Cinemas is one of the most leading production houses in Mollywood. Almost all the prestigious and big budget movies of Mohanlal, in the past decade, have been produced by Aashirvad Cinemas.

Mohanlal’s trusted aide and close associate Antony Perumbavoor is managing the company. Recently, the team arranged a press meet in connection with the first discussion of their much awaited movie Lucifer. Prithviraj Sukumaran is turning to a filmmaker with this Mohanlal starrer, written by Murali Gopy. Lucifer is expected to go on floors by May next year.

During the press meet, Antony Perumbavoor revealed that Aashirvad Cinemas will be funding five movies, including Lucifer, in the next two years. A big budget fantasy movie Odiyan, Pranav Mohanlal- Jeethu Joseph movie, Mohanlal- Lal Jose movie, Mohanlal- Shaji Kailas- Renji Panicker movie and Lucifer are the five films that will be bank rolled by Aashirvad Cinemas.

First to go on floors will be Odiyan, directed by popular ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon. He will also be directing the ambitious Randamoozham. Odiyan is written by National award winner Harikrishnan and shoot for the movie is scheduled to kick-start on May 25. It is touted to be the most expensive movie ever made in Malayalam cinema.

Reports about Pranav Mohanlal’s debut film as a lead actor with Jeethu Joseph has been doing the rounds for sometime now. The director recently clarified that the movie will start rolling in June this year.

After a lot of speculations, Lal Jose will be finally making a movie with Mohanlal in the lead. The director on several occasions has gone on record expressing his desire to work with Mohanlal and the project is all set to kick start next year.

Another exciting project is the teaming up of Mohanlal, Shaji Kailas and Renji Panicker. Mohanlal and Shaji Kailas have scripted some huge blockbusters in the past. Similarly, Renji Panicker and Shaji Kailas also have a successful track record. The trio will be working together for the first time and naturally expectations will be on the higher side.

So that makes it an exciting two years for Aashirvad Cinemas. All the above mentioned movies have the potential to set the cash registers ringing in the box office.

A new feat for Mohanlal’s 1971 Beyond Borders

Mohanlal’s next release 1971 Beyond Borders is gearing up for a grand release on April 7. Telugu version of the movie, titled as 1971 Baratha Sarihaddu is also releasing on the same day.

This is Mohanlal’s fifth movie with director Major Ravi and fourth in the Major Mahadevan series. The actor will be seen in a dual role, as Mahadevan and his father Sahadevan. The movie is based on the 1971 Indo-Pak war.

The team have already released a motion poster, teaser, trailer and two song videos, all in regular intervals. According to latest reports, 1971 Beyond Borders will feature specially designed virtual reality (VR) experiences, making it the first ever for a Malayalam movie.

Mohanlal himself confirmed the news through a post in his official Facebook page which reads,

“1971 Beyond Borders pushes the boundaries yet again and becomes the first Malayalam Movie to have specially designed Virtual Reality experiences. “VR Trailer Reaction” of 1971 Beyond Borders is releasing today at 5:00 PM IST. Get your VR headsets ready!”

1971 Beyond Borders is made as a pan Indian movie with a huge star cast. Telugu actor Allu Sirish, Arunoday Singh, Srushti Dange, Priyanka Agarwal and Zoya Zayed Khan, Sudheer Karamana, Renji Panicker, Saiju Kurup, Krishnakumar, Devan and many other actors will be seen in supporting roles.

Sujith Vassudev has handled the cinematography. Songs in the movie are composed by three music directors— Najim Arshad, Siddharth Vipin, and Rahul Subramanian. Background score is handled by Gopi Sunder.

This big budget movie is produced by Haneef Muhammed under the banner Red Rose Creations.

We had earlier reported that veteran filmmaker Siddique will be remaking his blockbuster movie Bhaskar the Rascal in Tamil. Aravind Swamy and Amala Paul are playing the lead roles in the movie.

Shoot for the movie has kick started today in Kochi with the customary pooja ceremony. Amala Paul, Aravind Swamy and Ramesh Khanna were present for the Pooja.

Bhaskar The Rascal, released in 2015 was a blockbuster success. Megastar Mammootty and Nayanthara essayed the lead roles in the movie.

The story revolves around a handsome young widower who is impatient and quick-tempered and what happens when a single mother comes into his life. Mammootty played the title role while Nayanthara essayed the single mother’s character. Sanoop Santhosh and Baby Anikha were seen as their kids in the movie.

Director Siddique has tweaked the plot slightly to appeal to the sensibilities of the Tamil audience. The children of the protagonists in the Tamil version are more younger. Actress Meena’s daughter, Baby Nainika, who won the audience’s hearts as Vijay’s naughty kid in Theri, will be seen as Amala Paul’s daughter in the movie.

Siddique has also roped in Sanjay Dutt to play the lead role in the Hindi version of Bhaskar The Rascal.

Anu Sithara who grabbed the attention of the audience with her performance in Happy Wedding, now has some exciting movies in her kitty. She will be next seen in Ranjith Sankar’s Ramante Edenthottam, Achayans and Jayasurya’s Captain.

Anu, a self confessed fan of Mammootty, in a recent interview confessed that she is a big fan of Megastar Mammootty. Anu considers herself very lucky to have seen Mammootty in person.

In Ramante Edenthottam, Kunchacko Boban plays a 40 year old Ram Menon. He owns a 500 acre resort that has no access to internet or mobile phones. Anu Sithara will be seen as Malini, his romantic interest. Shoot for the movie has already been completed and is expected to hit screens next month.

Anu will soon start shooting for debutant Prajesh Sen’s Captain. The movie is a biopic on footballer VP Sathyan’s life and Jayasurya is playing the lead role. Anu will be seen as Anitha Sathyan, the footballer’s wife in the movie.

It is a solid character that will have lot of scope for performance. The movie will be narrated through her perspective. It will not just be centred around the game of football but will also showcase how relationships influenced Sathyan’s life.

Captain will be Anu Sithara’s second movie with Jayasurya. She had recently shared screen space with him in director Siddique’s comedy entertainer Fukri.

Nivin Pauly is all set for his first release of the year. His highly anticipated political drama, Sakhavu is gearing up to hits screens this Vishu season on April 15. According to our sources close to the team, the movie will have a massive release in Kerala.

Sakhavu is directed by National award winner Sidharth Siva. The movie will have Nivin in the role of Krishnakumar, a communist supporter. The movie’s trailer revealed that Nivin will be seen in dual roles in the movie, as Krishnakumar and comrade Krishnan. Apparently, the latter’s portions are set in the 70s-80s timeline and the actor is sporting a different look for that role.

The makers of Sakhavu will be inspired by the humongous success of Tovino Thomas’s latest release Oru Mexican Aparatha. Also, Nivin is riding on the back of a string of blockbusters. That further heightens the expectations for Sakhavu.

Nivin Pauly had earlier informed that it will be an intense movie that will stay etched with the audience for a long time. It will not be just another political drama but will have equal doses of humour, romance and machismo.

Aparna Gopinath, Gayathri Suresh and Kollywood actress Aishwarya Rajesh are playing the female leads. Sreenivasan, Maniyan Pillai Raju, Joju George and many others are also part of the cast.

The movie’s audio launch function will be held tomorrow in Kochi. Prashanth Pillai, who has been receiving a lot of appreciation for his work in Angamaly Diaries, is handling the music department in Sakhavu.

Kollywood cinematographer George C Williams, who has wielded the camera in movies like Theri, Kaththi and Raja Rani is the DOP. B Rakesh has produced the movie under the banner Universal Cinema.

The makers of Mammootty’s upcoming release Puthan Panam sprang a surprise by releasing the movie’s teaser without any sort of hype. While Mammootty fans were celebrating the success of The Great Father, Puthan Panam teaser came in like an icing on the cake.

Apparently, the makers have used a new marketing strategy to release the teaser. Usually, a teaser or a trailer is released via the movie’s official Facebook page or the star’s page. However, the makers of Puthan Panam chose to attempt a different but an effective method.

They sent the teaser to all major medias who released it in social medias as their own count thus reaching it a wider audience. And the results are there to be seen as the teaser has been trending virally in social media pages.

At a time when the fans and netizens are visibly obsessed with the trailer views and likes count, it is indeed a commendable attempt by the makers of Puthan Panam to try something new. Ultimately, it all comes down the popularising the movie to get a good theatrical run.

Puthan Panam has a positive hype surrounding it and it’s mainly due to the all time favourite, Mammootty- Ranjith combo. The movie will be a different take on the director’s National award winning movie Indian Rupee. It will discuss about the current financial situation and explore in detail about the black money circulation in the country.

The movie stars Ineya and Sheelu Abraham as the female leads. Kollywood cinematographer Om Prakash is welding the camera while Shaan Rahman has composed the songs in the movie.

Puthan Panam is produced by 3 Color Cinemas, a new production house jointly owned by Abraham Mathew, director Ranjith and actor Arun Narayanan.

Renowned editor Mahesh Narayanan’s directorial debut Take Off is continuing it’s successful run in all the release centres. The movie starring Parvathy Menon, Kunchako Boban, Fahadh Faasil and Asif Ali in major roles, was opened to extraordinary reports right from the first day of release.

According to latest reports from trade sources, Take Off has grossed Rs 6.7 crores from it’s seven days theatrical run in Kerala. The movie was released at a risk of Rs 5 crores and hence a big final gross is necessary for the movie to meet the safe zone. With the Vishu season fast approaching and some biggies lined up for release, Take Off will have to hold one end steadily to meet the desired box office results.

Take Off was in the news prior to the release itself as it was made as a tribute to late filmmaker Rajesh Pillai. The movie was funded by Anto Joseph and Shebin Becker in association with Rajesh Pillai Films. Mekha Rajesh Pillai is the executive producer of the movie.

Take Off was rated as landmark movie Malayalam cinema. The visuals, setting and the total magnitude of the film was completely different from what we get to see in Malayalam movies.

The movie movie is inspired from real life incidents that happened in 2014 when a group of Malayali nurses were trapped in the Tikrit region in Iraq during the ISIS attacks in 2014. Take Off is a fictionalized account of the same. It is jointly written by Mahesh Narayanan and PV Shaji Kumar.

Director Aneesh Anwar’s upcoming movie Basheerinte Premalekhanam is gearing up for release. The movie starring Farhaan Faasil and Mariyamukku fame Sana Althaf in the lead roles is touted to be a romantic comedy.

A new romantic track, Laila Laila was released recently in the official YouTube channel of Muzik 24×7. The team had earlier released three songs, Penne Penne, Pranyamanithu and TV Kandikkna, through YouTube.

Like the previous songs, Laila Laila is also getting great response from the audience. The song features Kammattipaadam fame Manikandan R Achari and Ranjini Jose in it.

Manikandan R Achari, who won the Kerala State Film Award for second best actor, is seen an entirely different role in Basheerinte Premalekhanam. He is seen as a love smitten young man in the song. Laila Laila has definitely caught the attention of the audience.

This breezy romantic track is sung by Salih Haneef. Vishnu Mohan Sithara has composed the song for which the lyrics are written by Shinto Koodapattu.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam is written by Shinod Sivam, Bipin K Paulose and Shamseer Ahamed. Cinematography is handled by Sanjay Harris, a 20 year old. Incidentally, he is the youngest cameraman in the history of Malayalam cinema.

Veteran actors Madhu and Sheela are essaying pivotal characters in the movie. Nedumudi Venu, Joy Mathew, Harish Kanaran, Aju Varghese, Shanavas, Suraj Harris, Sreejith Ravi, Sohan Seenulal, Sunil Sugatha, Manikandan, Asha Aravind and Sivaji Guruvayoor are playing supporting roles in the movie.

Basheerinte Premalekhanam is produced by P M Harris and Mohammed Althaf under the banner Fort Entertainment.

Antony Perumbavoor today made an exciting revelation at the Lucifer team’s press meet. Aashirvad Cinemas will be funding five movies in the next two years and one among them will be a Mohanlal- Shaji Kailas- Renji Panicker movie.

The track record of Mohanlal- Shaji Kailas team is an enviable one with some mega blockbusters like Narasimham, Aaram Thamburan and Baba Kalyani. But their last few movies like Alibhai and Red Chillies could not taste the desired commercial success.

Renji Panicker- Shaji Kailas team is without any doubt one of the most favourite writer- director combos of all time. They have scripted many blockbusters, most of them starring Suresh Gopi and Mammootty in the lead roles. This will be the first time they will be working on a Mohanlal starrer and that has certainly heightened the expectations.

One of the leading directors of Mollywood during the 90s and early 2000s, Shaji Kailas is now keeping a very low profile. He is riding on a string of failures and this Mohanlal starrer will be his golden opportunity to hit the jackpot.

Renji Panicker meanwhile has taken a break from scripting and is currently focusing on his acting. The celebrated writer will be itching to get back to his favorite zone and script a powerful mass entertainer.
