I drove the tank for real in 1971 Beyond Borders : Mohanlal

Mohanlal- Major Ravi team’s 1971 Beyond Borders is all set to hit screens on April 7. Telugu version of the movie, titled as 1971 Baratha Sarihaddu is also releasing on the same day. The movie is based on the 1971 Indo- Pak war. Mohanlal is playing a dual role in the movie, as Colonel Mahadevan and his father Sahadevan, who fought for the country in the 1971 war front.

1971 Beyond Borders is said to be the first Indian movie that will feature extensive tank fights. The team endured adverse conditions in the deserts of Rajasthan to shoot these sequences. Telugu actor Allu Sirish is reportedly playing a battle tank driver in the movie.

Mohanlal is someone who has always been game for doing risky and adventurous things if it’s necessary for the character he plays. On that lines, Mohanlal has now gone one step forward to drive a real battle tank for one of the scenes in 1971 Beyond Borders.

Mohanlal himself revealed this bit of information during an interview with Times Of India.
I have been shown driving a lot of vehicles and even piloting an aircraft in my films, but for Beyond Borders, I drove the tank for real in one of the scenes. And I don’t think there’s anyone in Malayalam cinema who has done that. But that’s where the thrill is; when you are the first one doing it”, said the actor.

1971 Beyond Borders is a multistarrer featuring several actors from other industries. Arunoday Singh, Asha Sarath, Srushti Dange, Priyanka Agarwal, Zoya Zayed Khan, Sudheer Karamana, Renji Panicker, Saiju Kurup and many other actors will be seen in supporting roles.

Sujith Vassudev has handled the camera for the movie. Songs are composed by three music directors— Najim Arshad, Siddharth Vipin, and Rahul Subramanian. Background score is handled by Gopi Sunder. This big budget movie is produced by Haneef Mohammed under the banner Red Rose Creations.

Telugu actor Srikanth joins Mohanlal’s Villain

Shoot for Mohanlal- B Unnikrishnan team’s upcoming movie Villain is fast progressing. The team recently completed the first leg of shooting in Trivandrum and they will be soon moving to Vagamon.

Telugu actor Srikanth recently joined the sets of Villain. Mohanlal, B Unnikrishnan and the team gave a grand welcome to Srikanth, who will be making his Malayalam debut through this movie.

Srikanth is a popular actor in the Telugu film industry who has starred in several blockbusters like Shankar Dada M.B.B.S, Lucky, Sarrainodu etc. There is still no information about Srikanth’s role in Villain.

Mohanlal is playing the role of Mathew Manjooran, an ex-cop and he is seen sporting a salt and pepper bearded look for the movie. The actor had shed a few kilos before the commencement of shoot as his character demanded a trimmer look. Manju Warrier is playing his wife’s role in the movie.

Villain also stars Tamil actor Vishal, Hansika Motwani and Raashi Khanna, all of whom will be making their debut in Mollywood. Villain will be a stylish crime thriller, shot completely in 8K resolution.

Manoj Paramahamsa known for his works in movies like Nanban and Vinnai Thandi Varuvaya, is the DOP. The movie will have much significance to special effects also. An international company from Poland have been roped in to handle the same. Peter Hein has been roped in to choreograph the stunts along with Stunt Silva. Music for the movie composed by Oppam fame 4 Musics.

Rockline Venkatesh who has produced movies like Lingaa and Bhajrangi Bhaijaan, is funding this big budget movie.

Kasaba heroine Varalaxmi Sarathkumar will be next seen in Jayaram’s Aakasha Mittayee

Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who made her debut in Malayalam through Mammootty starrer Kasaba, has bagged her next. She is playing the female lead in actor/director Samuthirakani’s debut directorial Aakasha Mittayee.

The movie starring Jayaram in the lead role is the official remake of Samuthirakani’s Tamil movie Appa in which he had also played the lead role. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar will be seen as Jayaram’s wife in the film, which has started rolling in Kochi on March 25.

Samuthirakani’s Appa was a socially relevant movie about the importance of education and the role of parents in providing the right kind of education to their children. The director has tweaked the storyline slightly according to the sensibilities of the Malayali audience.

Kalabhavan Shajon will be reprising Tambi Ramaiah’s role from the original. Samuthirakani earlier in an interview had said that the story, which is about the role of a father in a child’s life, has an universal appeal. So he wanted to make it in as many languages as possible.

After more than an year, Fahadh Faasil has finally returned back to big screen. Though he appears in a brief role in the recently released Take Off, he has garnered widespread appreciation for his performance in the movie. Undoubtedly, the most talented Malayali actor of this generation, Fahadh has carved a niche for himself in the industry, a space that only he belongs to.

Last year, his only release Maheshinte Prathikaram turned into a huge success and is rated as one of the top three Malayalam movies of the year. The movie was both critically and commercially acclaimed. Fittingly, the movie won the Kerala State Award for the most popular movie of the year 2016.

His statement from the interview is trending virally in social medias, with many praising the actor for being blatantly honest and for acknowledging Vinayakan without any such starry airs.

Fahadh Faasil and Vinayakan have earlier acted together in movies like Iyobinte Pusthakam and 5 Sundharikal. They are also playing college mates turned friends in director Rafi’s upcoming comedy entertainer Role Models.

Simbu to compose music for Vijay 62?

Popular Tamil actor Simbu has worn quite a few hats in his decade long tryst with movies. Like his father T Rajender, he has also tried his hand in direction, screenwriting, playback singing, lyric writing and music direction.

According to latest reports from Kollywood, Simbu is being considered to compose music for Ilayathalapathy Vijay’s next after his ongoing movie with director Atlee.

The movie, tentatively titled as Vijay 62, will mark the third time joining of the Thuppaki duo of AR Murugadoss and Vijay. This yet to be titled movie will be funded by Lyca Productions who were also the producers of the duo’s earlier outing Kaththi.

Reports about Simbu composing music for the movie has been doing the rounds in social media pages, but there is still no official confirmation regarding the same.
Simbu is also scoring the music for Santhanam’s upcoming film Sakka Podu Podu Raja.

Vijay, meanwhile is busy shooting for his next with Theri director Atlee. The actor is reportedly playing a triple role in this movie which features Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Nithya Menen and Kajal Agarwal as the female leads.

The star studded cast also includes SJ Suryah, Sathyaraj, Vadivelu, Sathyan and Kovai Sarala. KV Vijayendra Prasad who has scripted big budget blockbusters like Baahubali and Bhajrangi Bhaijaan has written the screenplay for the movie. A R Rahman is the music director for this movie funded by Sri Thenandal Films.

Prithviraj’s character poster from Tiyaan released

The team of Tiyaan, an upcoming multistarrer, has released the latest new character poster from the movie. The poster features Prithviraj’s character Aslan Mohammed. Interestingly, Prithviraj is seen in two looks in the poster, one as an angry young man and the other as middle aged man sporting a grey beard.

Prithviraj has pinned high expectations on this movie as he himself had revealed it several times during media interactions. The actor has also shared the new poster in Facebook page and along with it he has written,

Tiyaan is directed by debutant Jiyen Krishnakumar. The movie is said to be a socio-political drama set majorly in North India. Apart from these three lead actors, the movie features a host of other supporting actors including Shine Tom Chacko, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Prakash Bare, Rahul Madhav, Alok Jain, Paris Lakshmi, Padmapriya and Ananya.

Tiyaan is produced by Haneef Ahmed under his banner Red Rose Creations. It is a big budget movie made estimated to be made on a budget of over Rs 20 crores. The movie is scheduled to hit screens for Eid this year.
