Once the most sought after young heroes in Bollywood, Vivek Oberoi has of late been very selective. He is currently working in Kollywood star Ajith’s upcoming movie, tentatively titled as Thala 57, directed by Siruthai Siva.

Vivek Oberoi made his debut movie through acclaimed film Ram Gopal Varma’s Company. Mollywood superstar Mohanlal played a pivotal role in this movie. The actor shared his experience working with Mohanlal in a recent interview.

He said, “Mohanlal is my lucky mascot. He was very supportive in my debut movie, Company in which I shared screen space with him. He is one of the best actors in the country. I have experienced how well he supports a newcomer. Only he can do that.”

Company released in 2002 was the second film in the Indian Gangster trilogy, and a sequel to the blockbuster Satya.
The movie received universal critical acclaim and is considered as one of the best crime thrillers in Indian cinema. Mohanlal’s performance as the investigative officer Veerapalli Srinivasan, was highly appreciated by the critics. Vivek Oberoi also won the Filmfare award for best debutant for his performance in Company.

Vivek Oberoi added that he will do a Malayalam film once he gets a good offer. The actor also said that he recently watched Vellimoonga and enjoyed it very much, but he regretted for not being able to watch Mohanlal’s biggest blockbuster Pulimurugan.

Vineeth Sreenivasan plays an aspiring filmmaker in his next

The multifaceted Vineeth Sreenivasan who has been successfully juggling between direction, acting, singing and even producing has bagged his next role as a lead hero.

He will be seen as the character Alby in the upcoming movie directed by Payyans fame Leo Thaddeus. Vineeth Sreenivasan will play the son of a priest, whose family wishes him to follow the religious path like his father. But he wants to pursue a career film making and joins as an associate director.

The movie is a realistic family drama, revolving around the romance and aspirations of Alby, an young man hailing from Muvattupuzha-Kothamangalam area. Renji Panicker is playing his father, a Jacobite priest in the movie. Rajisha Vijayan who won the Malayali audience hearts through an endearing performance in her debut movie Anuraga Karikkin Vellam is playing the female lead in this movie. Both Vineeth Sreenivasan and Rajisha Vijayan play lovers turned married-couple in the film.

Vijay Babu and Anusree play their neighbours in the movie. Lal, Murali Gopy, Lalu Alex and Harish Kanaaran are also part of the cast. The movie will go on floors on February 24 in Kochi.

Vineeth Sreenivasan is meanwhile waiting the release of his upcoming movie Aby directed by debutant Srikant Murali, a former associate of Priyadarshan. The movie written by Santhosh Echikkanam has Vineeth playing the titular role as an young man who wishes to build an aircraft out of his love for flying. Trailer for the movie was recently released in YouTube.

Iqbal Kuttippuram about the similarities in Jomonte Suvisheshangal and Jacobinte Swargarajyam

Dulquer Salmaan’s latest outing Jomonte Suvisheshangal was released on January 20. This family entertainer directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad generally garnered positive reviews but many people pointed out the lack of novelty in the plot. The movie had striking resemblance to last year’s superhit movie Jacobinte Swargarajyam directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan.

Scriptwriter of Jomonte Suvisheshangal, Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram recently opened up about the similarities in the two movies. He is a popular writer who was scripted superhit movies like Niram, 4 The People, Arabikatha, Diamond Necklace, Vikramadithyan, Oru Indian Pranayakatha etc.

He said, “The basic plot of both the movies are the same but that doesn’t mean that Jomonte Suvisheshangal is copied from Jacobinte Swargarajyam. I had finished the scripting when Jacobinte Swargarajyam was released last year. We were about to start the shoot for our movie when Jacobinte Swargarajyam released. I went to see Vineeth Sreenivasan, who is a very close friend of mine. We talked about the similarities in the plots, but he supported me to move forward with the project. Both the movies are entirely different and apart from that this story can happen in any family.”

Both the movies dealt with a rich businessman who loses all his properties at one point and how his son stands up for the family and win back all that is lost. While Nivin Pauly played the son’s role in Jacobinte Swargarajyam it was Dulquer in Jomonte Suvisheshangal. Likewise Mukesh’s character was similar to that of Renji Panicker’s from Jacobinte Swargarajyam.

Vineeth Sreenivasan recently appreciated Jomonte Suvisheshangal through a status update in his official Facebook page. He praised the chemistry between the lead actors- Mukesh and Dulquer Salmaan, and also the background score by Vidyasagar.

National Anthem issue: Mob attack Sangh Parivar members for abusing a family

The Supreme Court’s directive to mandatorily play national anthem in theatres were received with mixed response among the citizens across the country. There have been many incidents of physical and verbal assaulting in many parts of our country.

Recently one such incident happened in Sandhya theatre Balussery, Kozhikode. A family were verbally abused by Sangh Parivar members after the woman could not stand up as her kid was sleeping in her lap. The accused men abused and threatened the family throughout the movie. They even tried to manhandle the family when they came out of the theatre but luckily the locals intervened and attacked the accused men.

Recently director Kamal was in news after he was involved in a controversy surrounding the arrest of IFFK delegates for not standing up during the national anthem in theatres. The director who is also the Chairman of the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy questioned the reason for police to enter the cinema halls without informing the organizers. BJP members staged protests in front of his house.

The party’s State general secretary AN Radhakrishnan even asked the director to move out of the country.

Thomas Issac supports Mohanlal in demonetisation issue

Superstar Mohanlal was criticised severely by many people for supporting the demonetisation move by the central government through his blog. Mohanlal has been receiving a lot of flak for making some controversial remarks in his blog. The actor had compared people standing in queues in liquor shops, theatres and in religious centres to those who are sweating it out at the long queues for withdrawing their money from banks and ATMs.

Finance minister Thomas Issac recently supported Mohanlal for being vocal being about his opinion. He said it was pathetic to see the actor facing so much backlash for expressing his opinions through his blog. He added that Mohanlal is someone who has no political inclinations and that his opinions should be respected. People may have different stands about Mohanlal’s blog but he should not be criticised for that.

Thomas Issac said that he has a different opinion on the demonetisation issue but then the opposing views should be safe respectfully. The minister also added that we will get to see more powerful characters of Mohanlal on screen. Like others he is also waiting to see Mohanlal as Bheemasenan in MT Vasudevan Nair’s epic movie Randamoozham.

Mohanlal’s blog supporting demonetisation was criticised severely in the cyberspace. Politicians like VD Satheesan, Swaraj and MM Mani had criticised Mohanlal for his stand in the issue without understanding the hardships faced by the common men of the country.

Dulquer Salmaan’s latest release Jomonte Suvisheshangal directed by veteran filmmaker Sathyan Anthikad was released on January 20. This family entertainer written by Dr Iqbal Kuttippuram is going strong in the box office without any dip in collections during the weekend .

According to trustworthy trade sources, Jomonte Suvisheshangal has grossed Rs 8.11 crore from its 4 days theatrical run in Kerala with a net of Rs 6.55 crores and a share of Rs 3.83 crores.

Jomonte Suvisheshangal deals with an endearing father-son relationship. Veteran actor Mukesh has played Dulquer Salmaan’s father in this movie. The chemistry both these actors have been widely appreciated by the audience.

Angamaly Diaries first look poster released

The first look poster of Lijo Jose Pellissery’s upcoming movie Angamaly Diaries was released today. The makers have been promoting the movie with a tagline “katta local”.

The intriguing poster features a host of characters and pigs all seen running around. Official trailer for the movie was released yesterday evening and has been trending ever since then in social media pages.

The movie starring mostly newcomers is written by popular actor Chemban Vinod Jose. From the trailer we can make out that it is a story about a group of thugs in Angamaly. It is learnt that the movie is inspired from some real life incidents that has happened in Angamaly. Debutant Antony Varghese has played the lead role in this movie.

Girish Gangadharan has handled the cinematography while Shameer Muhammed is the editor. Prashanth Pillai has composed the music in Angamaly Diaries. The movie is produced by Vijay Babu under the banner of Friday Film House.

The actress later learnt that Mammootty himself had suggested her name to director Ram to cast her as the heroine in the Malayalam – Tamil bilingual film Peranbu. Mammootty himself told her about how she was chosen for the role. He saw her in an interview and suggested her name to the Peranbu team for the role.

On working with Mammootty, she said, “It was a superb learning experience for me as a budding artist. I was literally afraid when I first saw him. But, it was very comfortable working with him since he helped me through all possible ways.”

Anjali Ameer said that Mammootty had a very cool attitude when she first him in the sets. Her gave her the much needed confidence to do well. Her first shot was scheduled with him after five or six days from their first meeting. They did a rehearsal and after that he said ‘Yes, perform just like this, you don’t have to change anything.’ That boosted Anjali’s confidence a lot.

Peranbu is directed by national award winning filmmaker Ram. The movie is being made as bilingual in Tamil and Malayalam. Kerala Box Office : Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol Collection Report – 3 Days

Mohanlal’s latest outing Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol released on Friday has been getting excellent response from the audience. The movie was opened to good reports from the critics and the box office numbers soon picked up.

As per unofficial reports, from the first three days, the movie has grossed Rs 8.72 crores in Kerala with Rs 7.03 crores as net and with a share of Rs 4.11 crores.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol directed by Vellimoonga fame Jibu Jacob was released amidst high expectations. It was Mohanlal’s first release of the year after the blockbuster 2016. Last year he had 4 releases in two languages. Three of them were huge blockbusters with Pulimurugan and Janatha Garage entering the 100 crore club. The former was the first from Mollywood to enter the club.

Meena’s pairing up with Mohanlal once again after Drishyam also heightened the expectations. Meena played Mohanlal’s wife in the movie while Jacobinte Swargarajyam fame Aima Rose Sebastian and Sanoop Santhosh have essayed their kids characters.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is written by M Sindhuraj based on the popular short story Pranayopanishath by James VJ.

Sofia Paul has produced this movie under the banner Weekend Blockbusters. The movie is expected to continue it’s successful theatrical run in the coming weeks thanks to the good word of mouth.

The trailer for maverick filmmaker Lijo Jose Pellissery’s upcoming movie Angamaly Diaries was released in YouTube yesterday evening. It has been trending ever since then in social media pages.

The movie starring newcomers is written by popular actor Chemban Vinod Jose. From the trailer we can make out that it is a story about a group of thugs in Angamaly. Itnis learnt that the movie is inspired from some real life incidents that has happened in Angamaly.

Newcomer Antony Varghese has played the lead role in this movie. The actor is seen sporting different looks and we believe that it shows a coming of age story. He is someone to look out for in the future.
