There are reports from many parts of the state about auto and taxi drivers trying to attack cab drivers from private firms like Ola and Uber. The auto drivers have strictly opposed these cab drivers for operating near their stands.

Popular playback singer Sayanora Philip had to undergo such a horrific incident in Ernakulam today. She shared the experience with her followers using the Facebook Live option.

Sayanora was travelling from Kannur to Ernakulam in the Malabar Express. She reached the Ernakulam North station early morning at around 3.30 AM.

Normally she hires some taxi drivers from the station itself who charge way too much for a small distance, so this time around she checked for an Uber cab online.

The driver, Hameed was waiting for Sayanora at the station entrance. After she boarded the cab, a group of auto drivers pulled out Hameed and they soon engaged in a scuffle. They arrogated Sayanora to get out of the car.

The auto drivers claimed that private cab drivers should not enter the railway station premises and besieged both of them. The issue was settled only after Sayanora shouted at them.

The singer through the video, said that it was a terrifying experience for a woman travelling alone at night. She requested the officials to look into the matter for enabling safety to women passengers who travel alone. Sayanora was of the popular opinion that Uber was much more affordable and safer than autos or other taxis.

This issue between auto drivers and Ola/Uber cab drivers have been a long standing issue that needs a immediate settlement before things turn worse.

Recently, some sketches of Mohanlal with a tonsured head and a twirled moustache were trending virally in social media pages. Initially it was rumoured that this was Mohanlal’s new look for the upcoming movie Benz Vasu.

But director Prajith refuted it saying they were just some fan made posters. Soon specualtions were rife that the posters were for the sequel of Mohanlal’s yesteryear blockbuster Rajavinte Makan.

Director of Rajavinte Makan, Thambi Kannanthanam has also dismissed it after he noticed some reports ins social media pages claiming that the photos were from Rajavinte Makan sequel.

But he also added that the plans for a sequel is still on the cards. He said, discussions are under progress and that he cannot reveal more as it is still in the early stages.

According to some sources, the sequel will also feature Suresh Gopi in a pivotal role. He also starred in the first part along with other reigning stars of that time like Ambika, Ratheesh etc.

Rajavinte Makan released back in 1986 had Mohanlal playing the role of an underworld don Vincent Gomez. The film enjoys a cult status in the Malayalam film industry.

Mohanlal was crowned as a superstar after his terrific performance as Vincent Gomez in the movie. The dialogues in the movie are popular among the youths even today.

As of now Mohanlal has only two projects in hand, Major Ravi’s war drama 1971 : Beyond Borders and B Unnikrishnan’s untitled big budget movie.

The first schedule for Major Ravi’s movie was completed recently. The actor is yet to start filming for B Unnikrishnan’s film in which he is playing an ex-cop.

Mohanlal’s next release is Munthirivallikalal Thalirkkumbol directed by Jibu Jacob.

We had earlier reported that the second schedule of Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming movie with director Amal Neerad is progressing in America.

The first schedule of this yet to be titled movie was completed in September in Kottayam, Pala and surrounding areas. The first look poster for the movie was released on Dulquer’s birthday. It was revealed that he will playing the character Aji Mathew in the movie.

The movie comes with the tagline “some heroes are real”. It is believed that the movie is inspired from a real life event about a youth from Kottayam who lands in America. The movie’s script writer Shibin Francis hails from Pala. He is staying in the US for the past 10 years. Shibin has previously scripted Prithviraj Sukumaran’s super hit movie Paavada that was released earlier this year.

Earlier in the week, we had reported that the Amal Neerad-Dulquer Salmaan will have some international artists as part of the cast for the overseas schedule. Hollywood stunt choreographer Mark Cavary was seen along with Dulquer Salmaan and other foreign artists in some location stills released by the team in Facebook. Dulquer is sporting a rugged look with a beard for this schedule.

Debutante Karthika Muraleedharan, John Vijay, Jinu Joseph are also part of the cast for this schedule.

Gopi Sunder is composing the music for the movie which is also produced by Amal Neerad under his banner Amal Neerad Productions.

Mohanlal again owns the number 2255 but this time as the registration number for his brand new Toyota Land Cruiser. The car is registered in the name of his close associate, Antony Perumbavoor’s name.

Director Kamal has been facing the wrath of the Yuva Morcha activists after he questioned the police’s action of entering the cinema halls to arrest the delegates, before informing the organisers.

Six delegates were arrested during the ongoing IFFK 2016, after they did not stand up while the national anthem was played. Kerala State Chalachitra Academy Chairman, director Kamal questioned the haste on the part of the police for arresting the delegates.

He said that the National Anthem should be respected and people must stand up when it is played. But it is unfortunate that viewers have to stand up very time they are watching a movie.

This statement from the director did not go down well with the Yuva Morcha activists and they staged a protest outside his house. The activists raised slogans against Kamal and burned his effigy. They sang the national anthem in front of his house and asked him to go to Pakistan.

The veteran director has now responded to the protests against him. He said, “I am not sure why they are targeting me. They are protesting in front of my house claiming that I disrespected the national anthem.

They are singing the national anthem in roads as a sign of showing their protest against. Is that how a national anthem should be respected?. They should have a look into themselves before turning against me. Neither me nor the Chalacthira Academy have said a word against the national anthem.

In fact we are asking everyone to sing the anthem through slides and voice-overs in English and Malayalam. The DGP also directed us to do the same. I said that the police should have asked for our permission before entering the cinema halls. When police just enter like that into a theatre, it can turn ugly and create a scene.

That is why I questioned it. I did not make any statements against the national anthem, then why are they protesting against me. They are asking me to go to Pakistan. Earlier also they have said the same to many people. What are they going to do in this country by sending us all to Pakistan.”

He also added, “There is a seperate jury for selecting the Malayalam movies to be screened in the festival. Around 170 movies of the total 185 movies to be screened, do not have a censor certificate.

One such movie was Ka Bodyscapes. The movie was screened only after the honourable court’s order. It is the ministry who gave the permission. I cannot just decide whether to screen a movie or not just because I am the Chairman.”

Director Kamal has been getting support from many people for his stand in the issue. Netizens are have been debating over the issue for the past few days now after the Supreme court ordered that national anthem should be made compulsory in theatres.

Malayalam cinema’s biggest blockbuster Pulimurugan is reaching the 75 day mark. The movie very recently entered the 150 crore club.

Ever since the release of the movie on October 7, it has been creating waves at the box office. After the initial response itself, trade experts had predicted that Pulimurugan will surely beat all the pre existing collection records in Mollywood.

Pulimurugan is the only movie from Mollywood to enter the 100 crore club. It is now among the top 5 biggest blockbusters in South Indian cinema for this year. With the massive success of the movie in Kerala, Pulimurugan had record release in overseas centres like Europe and GCC.

The Telugu version of the movie, Manyam Puli was released on December 2 to great reviews fromm the audience and the critics. According to Tollywood media reports, the movie has stunned the trade experts with its collections and has now been declared a superhit.

Director Kannan Thamarakulam has already pulled a casting coup of sorts for his upcoming directorial Achayans. The movie stars Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Unni Mukundan, Amala Paul, Sshivada, Anu Sithara, Sanju Sivaram and Adil Ibrahim playing the major characters.

Latest addition to the list is South Indian actress, Suja Varunee. The actress will be see playing the role of a cop in the movie. Her character is named Panchami, who is charge of an investigation in the movie.

The actress was last seen in Kollywood movies Pencil and Kidaari. Suja Varunne’s last appearance in a Malayalam Movie was in Black Daliya back in 2009.

The actress was part of the celebrity badminton league earlier this year. The team spotted her there offered a role in the movie.

She shares major portions of her screen time with veteran actor Prakash Raj, who is also making a comeback in Mollywood after a long gap.

Actors like Siddique, Manianpillai Raju, Saju Navodaya, Ramesh Pisharody and Dharmajan are also part of the cast. MLA PC George is also playing an interesting character in the movie.

The movie’s shoot is currently going on in Wagamon. Kochi, Kuttikanam, Theni and Hyderabad are the other major locations for the movie.

We had earlier reported that model turned actress Priyanka Agarwal will be essaying a pivotal character in Major Ravi- Mohanlal team’s latest outing 1971: Beyond Borders. Now we hear that the actress will be playing the role of a 65 year ol mother in the movie.

This is her debut movie and it looks like she has bagged a plum role. She will be will be sporting two looks for the movie, one as a 65-year-old and the other as her younger self.

The actress will be seen playing the character of Pakistani Lieutenant Colonel Rana Sharif’s wife. Bollywood actor Arunoday Singh is playing her husband’s character.

In a recent interview, the actress said that her character will have limited screentime but will create a great impact. She also added that though her role was limited, it had ample scope for performance.

1971: Beyond Borders is based on the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. The movie is a multi starrer also featuring Tollywood actor Allu Sirish playing an important character of an Army tank commander. Nikki Galrani is playing her love interest in the movie.

Major Ravi has planned this movie as a big budget one. The first schedule of the movie has already been completed in the deserts of Rajasthan. Kashmir and Palakkad are the other major locations. Some portions will also be canned in Uganda.

Sujith Vassudev is the cinematographer while Rahul Subramaniam and Sidharth Vipin will be handling the music department for this movie.

Kalabhavan Shajon entered the film industry through his performance in mimicry stages. But slowly the actor started getting good character roles with ample scope to show his acting abilities. It was his performance as constable Sahadevan in Mohanlal’s Drishyam that explored a completely different side of the actor. His performance as the character with grey shades was widely appreciated.
