Fahadh Faasil’s upcoming movie Role Models is currently under progress in Goa. This commercial entertainer is directed by Rafi.

Role Models stars Namitha Pramod, Srinda, Vinayakan, Vinay Forrt, Sharafudheen, Renji Panicker, Seetha and many other supporting actors.

Srinda is reportedly playing the role of Fahadh Faasil’s girlfriend in the movie. Her character, Christy is a tomboyish girl who is fierce and gets into fights with everyone quite often.

The actress in a recent interview said that, Christy is an exciting character with many peculiar mannerisms. She is very trendy and wears a scarf in her wrist in almost all the scenes.

Srinda shot to fame with her character, Susheela in Nivin Pauly’s sports drama 1983. She later did supporting roles in many movies, notables ones in films like Kunjiramayanam, Manglish, Amar Akbar Anthony, Two Countries etc.

The actress is all excited for her upcoming release, Munthirivallikalal Thalirkkumbol where she is sharing screen space with Mohanlal for the first time in her career. She is playing the character of Anoop Menon’s wife, a homemaker in the movie.

Fahadh Faasil currently busy with his new project Thondimuthalum Driksakshyum after Maheshinte Prathikaram team joining once again, Srindaa and Fahadh had also acted previous in Annayum Rassolumm directed by Rajeev Ravi.

Manyam Puli becomes a super hit

Pulimurugan’s Telugu version Manyam Puli was released last week. The movie was released on a large scale, in around 350 theatres. This is by far the biggest for a dubbed movie.

Upon release, the film was met with tremendous response from the Tollywood audience. Critics and the common audience praised the movie unanimously for the execution of a man vs wild concept.

Leading medias from Telugu industry have given a thumbs up for Manyam Puli. According to reports from trade sources, Manyam Puli has got a massive opening raking in around 5 crores from initial day box office collections.

The success of Mohanlal’s previous releases, Manamantha and Janatha Garage have made him popular among the Telugu especially the latter in which he played the lead with young superstar Jr NTR.

Mohanlal now enjoys a big fan base among the Tollywood audience. His terrific performance in the stunt sequences choreographed by Peter Hein are widely appreciated.

It is expected that the movie will continue its good theatrical run for the coming days till the Christmas releases hit the screens.

Meanwhile, Oppam’s Telugu version Kanupapa is also gearing up for release. The success of Manyam Puli has clearly inspired the makers of Oppam to release a dubbed version. Kanupapa is scheduled to related on December 30th.

Popular editor Mahesh Narayanan is coming up with his debut directorial venture and the flick is in the final stages of its filming and the title of the movie will be launched on the 7th December, Wednesday along with its first look poster.

The film has stars like Fahad Fazil, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali and Parvathy in it and it has been produced by Anto Joseph and Shebin Bucker under the banner of Rajesh Pillai Films. Mahesh Narayanan himself had written the screenplay of this movie.

The first look poster and title launch of the movie will be at 4.30 PM on Wednesday evening. This big budget movie has been filmed at locations like Iraq, Dubai, Hyderabad and Kochi. Fahad Fazil is playing an Indian Diplomat in this flick and Kunchacko Boban and Parvathy plays nurses who is working at a hospital in Iraq.

The flick has been based on the real life incident that happened during the war between Iraq Forces and ISIS in the year 2014. During that time, some Indian nurses were trapped in Tikrit and India has to conduct an evacuation program to save them from there. The flick is based on that incident as per report.

The movie will hit the screens by next year summer hopefully and it is indeed a much awaited movie here in Mollywood now.

Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan, the Nadirsha directorial movie starred by fresh face Vishnu Unnikrishnan and produced by popular actor Dileep, is emerging as another blockbuster of this year in Mollywood. This movie hit the screens on the 18th of November this year and got great word of mouth from the very first show itself.

Now, it has been making big money at box office and just like Nadirsha’s first film named Amar Akbar Anthony, this one too turned out to be a money spinner.

As per the latest collection report that is coming in from the trade pandits in our industry, this flick had earned around 11.40 crore from its 14 days run here in Kerala. The Kerala share of the film had crossed 5.5 crore and as a low budget movie, it had already entered the profit zone from its theatre share alone.

Reports says that the UAE/GCC collection of the movie is around 4 crore and the worldwide total gross of the movie is around 16 crore as well. It is still having decent business here in Kerala and expected gross over 15 crore from Kerala alone before the Christmas releases takes away screens from it.

The screenplay of this movie has been written by Vishnu Unnikrishnan-Bibin George duo who wrote Amar Akbar Anthony as well last year.

Megastar Mammootty’s Thoppil Joppan was released on October 7 during the Pooja holidays. The movie was directed by Johny Antony and written by Nishad Koya.

There were many specualtions and reports about the collections of the movie. Some reports in Wikipedia suggested that Thoppil Joppan had made a business of over 50 crores.

But according to our sources, Thoppil Joppan was a failure at the box office incurring a loss of about 2 crores for the producer. Our sources also inform that some of the crew members have not yet received their payment. When contacted, the producer is not even attending phone calls. They have asked, “why is the producer not responding to our calls if the movie had made big business as they claim”.

Thoppil Joppan was released alongside Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan. Within the industry, there were generally talks that Pulimurugan might flop at the box office. So apparently, the makers of Thoppil Joppan took a gamble and released their movie alongside the biggie.

But the move backfired as Pulimurugan was welcomed with great initial response and soon started breaking box office records. Whereas, Thoppil Joppan was an usual run of a mill kind movie where the only saving grace was Mammootty’s performance. Theatre counts were reduced after a week and the movie had to end up as a flop, both critically and commercially.

Thoppil Joppan was produced by Noushad Alathur under the banner Grande Film Corporation.

Ever since October 7th, the day on which Mohanlal starrer movie named Pulimurugan had graced the screens here in Kerala, Mollywood box office is not looking the same. Some unbelievable numbers are added in to the box office history of Mollywood and once again it was Mohanlal who made it possible for Mollywood.

That is why people call him the Complete Actor and the biggest ever star who graced Mollywood. He is ruling this industry without any challenge from any other actors here and now he is one of the Kings of South Indian Cinema.

After becoming the first ever Malayalam movie to gross 100 crore from theatres and also the first ever movie to have 30000+ shows from A Class theatres in Kerala, Puli Murugan had created another magical milestone. It had become the first ever Movie to gross over 4 crore from the multiplexes of Ernakulam on its 60th day.

No other Malayalam movies had never even touched the 3 crore mark from there and that makes Pulimurugan record very special. The second highest grosser from there is a Hollywood movie named Jungle Book which had earned around 3.72 crore from its lifetime run.

The second best Malayalam grosser from there is, Jacobinte Swargarajyam, which had earned only 2.95 crore from its life time run.

Will the poor response in IFFI, Goa affect Veeram in theatres?

Veeram directed by National award winning filmmaker Jayaraj is a much expected movie. The film was in the news for its massive budget and the international crew.

It is currently the most expensive movie ever made in Malayalam cinema with a budget of around 35 crores.

Bollywood actor Kunal Kapoor is playing the lead in this epic historical drama. Veeram is the fifth installment in director Jayaraj’s Navarasa series. It is adapted from legendary poet Shakespear’s classic work Macbeth.

The movie was recently screened in the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) held at Goa. The movie was met with response from the packed audience who watched the movie.

Many of them criticised the poor VFX works and the other technical aspects of the movie. Critics pointed out that the movie lacked the quality of a movie with international standards, which the makers had claimed.

Now, the movie will be screened at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) held at Thiruvananthapuram. The negative word of mouth has already soured down the expectation levels.

We will have to wait for the response from the audience in IFFK. If the critics pan the movie, it will be a big set back for the makers because that will have a major impact when the movie releases in theatres.

So naturally it will be very difficult to reap profits out of the theatres because of the huge budget involved.

Veteran South Indian actress Radhika Sarathkumar is also make her comeback to Mollywood, after a gap of 23 years through thus movie.

The actress was last seen in Mollywood in the movie Arthana, released way back in 1993.

Reportedly, Radhika will play Dileep’s mother in the movie. It is a very strong character and she will be one of the two female leads in the movie.

Radhika of late has been acting in a lot of mother roles. She played Dhanush’s mother in Thanga Magan, Vijay’s mother in Theri and Vijay Sethupathy’s mom in Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.

Dileep is playing the character of Ramanunni, a MLA in the movie. But apparently, this film will not be similar to his movies like Lion and Nadodi Menon, where be played a political leader. This movie is scripted by Sachi.

Shooting will happen in Kochi, Trivandrum, Maharashtra, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Thailand. The film wil go on floors on Decemeber 9 and is scheduled to release for Vishu next year.

The movie is titled as Pokkiri Simon, Oru Kaduththa Aaraadhakan.

The actor himself made the announcement through Facebook live from Sree Vishak theatre, Trivandrum.

He was in the city to watch the re-release of the blockbuster movie with Vijay fans. The actor was accompanied by director Jijo Antony, scriptwriter K Ampady, producer Krishnan Sethukumar.

Sunny Wayne along with the other crew members watched the movie with Vijay fans. After the movie he said, the atmosphere was electrifying and he hoped that the same energy will reflect on their movie as well.

Director Jijo Antony said that the movie will focus on the energy, angst, pain, laughter, actions and pain in the life of a hard core fan.

It will be an out and out colorful entertainer. Krishnan Sethukumar is producing this movie under the banner Srivari Films.

It is a known fact that Vijay enjoys the largest popularity for an actor from outside the state. Most of his movies have a huge release on par with the superstars of the state.

Recently, the distribution rights of his upcoming movie Bairavaa was bought for a record amount. So, a movie about the life of a hard core Vijay fan will be relatable to many youngsters in the state.

Jijo Antony made his debut through Konthayum Poonulum starring Kunchacko Boban in the lead. The movie was both a critical and commercial failure.
