Rathivilaasam song from Aanandam released

Aanandam directed by debutant Ganesh Raj is running successfully in all the centres. The song Rathivilasam from the movie was released today.

The song stars Nivin Pauly enjoying himself in a foam party in a pub. Nivin Pauly played a guest role in the movie as Akshay’s brother. New comer Thomas played the role of Akshay in the movie.

Aanandam is a movie about a group of students studying in an engineering college who are on a trip as part of their Industrial Visit. Seven newcomers played the lead roles in the movie.

Sachin Warrier composed the music while Anend C Chandran handled the cinematography. Vineeth Sreenivasan entered production through Aanandam. He produced the movie along with Vinod Shornur under the banner of Habit of Life and Cast n Crew.

Midhun Manuel Thomas-Sunny Wayne’s next movie titled as Alamara

Young filmmaker Midhun Manuel Thomas has announced his next project. The movie is titled as Alamara. Sunny Wayne will be playing the lead role in the movie.

Midhun Manuel Thomas’ last movie was Ann Maria Kalippilanu again starring Sunny Wayne and Deiva Thirumagal fame Sara Arjun in the lead. The movie had a decent run in theatres.

Young Megastar Dulquer Salmaan played a guest role in the movie. Ann Maria Kalipilanu did average business and the movie has now been dubbed in Telugu as Pilla Rakshai.

Midhun Manuel Thomas made his entry to the industry writing the story and screenplay for Om Shanti Oshana starring Nivin Pauly and Nazriya Nazim. The movie was a super hit in the box office.

He debuted as a director through the comedy entertainer Aadu Oru Bheegara Jeeviyanu. The movie was a box office disaster even though it enjoyed wide popularity once the DVDs were released. A sequel for Aadu Oru Bheegara Jeeviyanu was also announced by the makers Friday Film House.

His latest movie Alamara will also star Aju Varghese, Renji Panicker, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Indrans, Sudhi Koppa playing important roles.

John Manthrikkal is writing the screenplay for debutant Mahesh Gopal’s story. Cinematography is handled by Satheesh Kurup while Sooraj S Kurup is composing the music for the film. Lijo Paul will be the editor for the movie.

Alamara will be produced under the banner of Full On Studios.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil enters the 100 crore club

Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has now officially entered 100 crore club in India. The movie had earlier collected over 200 cores globally.

This is the first time a Karan Johar movie is minting collections of over 100 crores from India itself. The movie was marred by many controversies prior to the release.

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Fawad Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the lead roles.

Many social and political groups threatened to block the release of the movie citing the presence of Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in the star cast. They had urged filmmakers not to include Pakistani artists in movies after the Uri attacks.

Also there were many controversies surrounding the steamy scenes between Ranbir Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the movie.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil has successfully earned Rs. 102 crore approximately so far in India.

Incidentally this is the first time a movie starring Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is entering the 100 crore club. This is Ranbir Kapoor’s third film after ‘Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani’ and ‘Barfi’.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil is Anushka’s second film this year which entered the 100 crore club after ‘Sultan’ where she played the female lead opposite Salman Khan.

Ae Dil Hai Mushkil was a romantic entertainer that was released on October 28th to generally positive reviews by the critics and the common audience.

Back to back blockbusters, Mohanlal increases his remuneration

Mohanlal has been riding high on the success of his back to back blockbusters. The actor has delivered three blockbusters in two languages of which two of them have entered the elite 100 crore club.

Now with the massive success of his movies, the actor has increased his remuneration. Mohanlal was paid 3.5 crores for a movie in Malayalam. It is now learnt that he has increased his pay to 4 crores.

For other language movies he is reportedly charging a whopping amount of 8 crores.

His last three releases Janatha Garage, Oppam and Pulimurugan are all blockbusters. Janatha Garage in Telugu, had grossed over 100 crores while Oppam is still running in some theatres after crossing the 60 crore mark.

Pulimurugan became the first Malayalam movie to enter the 100 crore club. The movie is continuing its terrific run and is expected to do an overall business of over 150 crores worldwide.

He is currently shooting for Major Ravi’s big budget movie 1971 : Beyond Borders. Other than he has officially signed for Prithviraj’s directorial debut Lucifer written by Murali Gopy.

Mohanlal’s next release will be Munthiri Vallikalal Thalirkkumbol directed by Vellimoonga fame Jibu Jacob which is scheduled for a Christmas release.

Two Malayalam movies have been postponed due to the demonetizing move undertaken by the central government.

Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan directed by Nadirshah and Dhyan Sreenivasan’s Ore Mugham are the two movies that were postponed. Both the movies were scheduled to release on Friday.

Theatre owners fear that audience count will be very less because of the unavailability of 100 rupee notes. Also returning back the change will also be a headache in the cash counters.

People generally have started to become vary of spending more money because there is still no official word about when new notes will br available.

Producers have also decided to release the movies only after the current situation gets over.

Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan is a comedy entertainer starring Vishu Unnikrishnan in the lead. The movie is produced by actor Dileep and Dr Zachariah Thomas.

Ore Mugham is a campus based crime thriller directed by debutant Sajith Jaganathan. The movie also stars Aju Varghese, Deepak Parambol, Prayaga Martin, Chemban Vinod and Gayathri Suresh in other important roles. Jayalal Menon and Anil Biswas are producing the movie under the banner Backwater Studio.

The central government’s move to illegalize the 500 and 1000 rupee notes have affected the collections of Malayalam cinema’s biggest blockbuster Pulimurugan.

Producer Tomichan Mulakupadam has said that not even a single penny of the profit from the movie has reached him directly. He has welcomed the Indian government’s decision to illegalize the 500 and 1000 rupee notes. But he also added that this move has affected the collections of Pulimurugan badly.

Pulimurugan recently became the first Malayalam movie to enter the 100 crore club. The movie continued its terrific run even after a month of its release. Last weekend also witnessed houseful shows in almost all the theatres in Kerala. But collections have dipped very low in the last two days.

Pulimurugan is doing great business overseas also. In the Middle East region, the movie is running to packed theatres in most centres. Same is the case in European countries like UK and Germany.

Pulimurugan is expected to continue its amazing run once the new notes are circulated as usual. Trade experts have indicated that Pulimurugan will do a worldwide business of over 150 crores.

Actor/director Pratap Pothen who was set to direct Dulquer Salmaan in a movie titled Love in Anjengo written by Anjali Menon, had earlier dropped the project.

He had went on record that Anjali Menon’s script was the reason behind him dropping the project.

In a recent interview, Prathap Pothen clarified more about why he backed out of the project and regarding his controversial Facebook posts.

Prathap Pothen says, “I told Dulquer Salmaan that the screenpaly written by Anjali Menon had nothing to turn into a feature film. I was very impressed by Dulquer’s acting in Charlie. I am still ready to do a movie with him. I have been out of the Malayalam industry for almost 10 years now. So when I am planning a new project, I will not be announcing it any time soon. I have already lost around one year because of Anjali Menon’s project.”

Regarding his Facebook posts, the actor said most people do not fully read the post or understand it. They simply jump into conclusions.

“Many people have accused me for writing against Mammootty. Why should I talk bad about him? He is my junior in the industry and has even worked in my brother’s movie. I told he is the world’s best actor. I am not doing a movie with Mammootty”, said Prathap Pothen.

“Social media is a platform to raise one’s opinions and thoughts. If someone abuses my children then I will surely use swear words against them. There is a general notion among people that Prathap Pothen is insane and he takes drugs. I will not able to prove myself to each and everyone”, concluded Prathap Pothen.

Oppam, the Mohanlal starrer which released on the 8th September this year, as an Onam release in Mollywood had become one of the all-time blockbusters in Malayalam cinema history.

It was Suresh Kumar who found the application and posted it. I went for the audition, did all that they asked me to do and got the part. I have been doing the same for the past 16 years. Only God knows how I survived in the industry.”
