Kabali got 223 crores even before its release !

Kabali got 223 crores even before its release !

Tamil superstar Rajinikanth starrer Kabali will grace the screens all over the world on this coming Friday, July 22. This Pa Ranjith directed movie is now the most anticipated movie in India and it is setting records at every step before its release. Kalaipuli S Thanu, the popular producer in Kollywood had bankrolled this gangster flick under the banner of V creations and reports says that this movie is made using a budget around 110 crore.

As per the latest reports, Kabali had already got rupees 223 crore from its distribution rights and other rights and it is a record in Indian Cinema that a movie had touched the magical 200 crore mark even before its release. The film will release around 60 countries all around the globe and will hit more than 5000 screens as well. From India alone it will get 4000 screens. The distribution rights of the film is sold for huge prices and that is how it minted rupees 223 crores even before the release.

Jazz Cinemas had bought the Tamil Nadu distribution rights of the movie for a whopping 68 crores. Shanmugha Films bought the Andhra rights for 32 crores and from these two states itself Kabali had got 100 crores as distribution rights. Kerala (7.5- Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas-Maxlab), North India (15.5- Fox Star India), Malaysia (10- Malik Stream corporation), USA-Canada (8.5- cine Galaxy) etc are the main distribution areas and rights.

Other overseas markets had contributed rupees 16.5 crore rupees and the Satellite and music rights fetched rupees 40 crore for the flick. Jaya TV and Think Music grabbed the Satellite and music rights respectively. The flick got around 10-15 crore by selling some other rights as well. Thus it had already crossed the 200 crore mark and that is why Rajinikanth is been called the real Super Star in Indian Cinema.

Vijay 60: Malayalam actor Vijayaraghavan to share screen space with Vijay

Popular Mollywood actor Vijayaraghavan is all set to share screen space with none other than Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay and he will be playing a Malayali character as well in this movie. It will in the Bharathan directorial movie which had already started filming. The film is not titled yet and Mollywood actress Keerthy Suresh is playing the female lead in it.

Vijayaraghavan is playing the father character of an engineering student and the film revolves around the investigation of the murder of that student, says Vijayaraghavan. He said that there are restrictions to reveal more about the plot.

He is acting in Tamil after 20 years and his first Tamil film was the Tamil remake of his Malayalam Super Hit Ramji Rao Speaking. Fazil had directed it in Tamil. According to Vijayaraghavan, people who are working in Tamil film industry, is very much updated about all other film industries in South India and they gives ultimate respect to artists from other industries. Vijayaraghavan says that we have to learn from them.

Bharathan had earlier directed Azhakiya Tamil Magan with Vijay in the lead and there were some reports coming in that Vijay may be playing dual role in this flick. The film will release on pongal next year. VVijayaraghavan’s upcoming movies will be Adoor Gopalakrishnan-Dileep movie Pinneyum and Murali Gopi-Dileep movie Kumarasambhavam . He said that he loved the character he played in Ranjith’s Leela recently.

After Anarkali, Prithviraj-Sachi team to unite again

After Anarkali, which was his maiden directorial venture which released last year, writer Sachi is planning his next directorial venture with Prithviraj. Prithviraj and Biju Menon had played the lead roles in Anarkali, which become a hit in box office. Now, he is planning his second movie as a director and it will be a period movie which will be shot in a big canvas, says the director.

The project is still in its discussion stage as the writer/director is in talks with Gokulam Gopalan regarding the production of this flick under Gokulam Movies. The film will depict the period post 1950’s and will need a lot of time to complete it.

The film will be shot in Sri Lanka and UK and the female leads in this movie will be a Sinhalese actress and an actress from English. The screenplay of this movie will be written by Suresh Babu who had earlier wrote the Mega Hit Mohanlal film Shikkar, says Sachi to the Media. Sachi himself had wrote the screenplay of his first film Anrakkli.

Apart from this project there are reports that Mohanlal had given his dates for Sachi. Sachi will be writing two screenplays more. One for Dileep-Arun Gopi project in which Dileep plays a young MLA and another one for Prithvi Raj- Sreenivasan project which will be directed by Lal.

In all sense, Anuraga Karikkin Vellam has become the movie of this season here in Mollywood. The flick had got great response from the audience and the rush in theaters are increasing day by day. The film had got almost 16 extra screens in its second week and at many centers uncontrollable crowd is coming to watch the movie. Even though the film had made only a slow start at box office, now it is picking up pace.

In 10 days of its run here in Kerala, the movie had raked in 5.21 crore. The first week figure of the movie is around 4 crore and from 3 days after that, it had got more than 1 crore. From Ernakulam multiplexes, the film had raked in more than 60 lakhs from 10 days.

In Perumbavoor Ashirvad Theater, the film is on the way to set record in Houseful show count, as the film had set a string of continuous houseful shows there. The theater staffs said that the evening shows are getting great crowd and the movie will be in for a long run there. At many centers in Kerala, this is the situation.

Debutant Khalid Rahman had conceived this movie based on the screenplay written by Naveen Bhaskar. Asif Ali had made a terrific comeback to success track with this film and Biju Menon also needs special mention. The female lead in this movie named Rajisha Vijayan is becoming a sensation here in Kerala as well just like Sai Pallavi, Madonna Sebastian and Aparnna Balamurali had become, in the recent past.

This will be directed by master director Lal and it will be scripted by noted writer Sachi, who had made his debut as a director last year with Anarkkali starred by Prithviraj and Biju Menon.

It was a box office success as well. This upcoming movie is titled as Driving License as of now and the highlight of this movie will be the uniting of Prithviraj-Sreenivasan combo on screen.

Sachi, the writer of this film said that it will be a comedy movie which will utilize both Prithviraj and Sreenivasan as actors. He said that Prithviraj-Sreenivasan combo is going to be amazing and both will have equal importance in the story. He is sure that their onscreen chemistry will be stunning and there will ample scope for performance for both these actors. There will be a lot of humor in this movie, says Sachi.

Sachi is now penning down a Dileep movie which will be directed by a newcomer named Arun Gopi. Lal will have a Jayasurya movie next year and he committed to do a Mohanlal movie as well as per reports. He will act in Nivin Pauly-Althaf movie and also in Honey Bee 2 by his son Jean Paul.

Dulquer Salmaan movie named Charlie directed by Martin Prakatt and scripted by Martin and Unni R is still making news here in Mollywood. The movie which released in last year December had become a blockbuster success here in Mollywood and it had won great critical appreciation as well. The film had won 8 honours in the State Film Awards including the best actor award for Dulquer Salmaan and best actress award for Parvathy who played the female lead in this movie. Martin Prakkatt and Unni R also won awards.

Gopi Sundar had won the best music director award for his songs in Charlie and the best cinematographer award was won by Jomon T john for his beautiful visuals in Charlie.

Martin Prakatt had won best director award and also shared the best screen writer award with Unni R for this movie. Best singer award went to Vijay Yesudas and best comedian award was won by Joju George. Divya S Menon had won best female singer award.

Popular actor Dileep is coming forward with a project to help 1000 poor families in Kerala by making houses for them. It will be a project worth 55 crore rupees and he will make this project go forward with the help of GP charitable trust in Aluva and Kerala Action Force. He said that what happened to Jisha in Perumbavoor, who had raped brutally and murdered, had inspired him to come up with this plan. If Jisha had a safe shelter, that brutal thing would not have been happened with her. So, he wants to find out such families who does not have a proper shelter and make houses for them.

Many other associations in Kerala also will co-operate with Dileep in making this project a reality and Dileep said that the houses will be named as Surakshitha Bhavanam. The making of 6 houses will start soon and Dileep fans association and Kerala action force will find out people who are living in poor conditions and will check if they are eligible to come under this project.

Dileep said that even though he do not wanted to make his charity work public, he is making this public in order to make people aware of such a project and if they can also come up with their help in realizing this project, it will be great. He said that anyone who has 2 cent of land in their possession can apply to get a home under this project. Widows will get more consideration in this project and he said that 5.5 Lakhs expected to be the cost of making a single home.
