Mohanlal distributes Rajinikanth’s Kabali in 250 centres in Kerala

Tamil Superstar Rajinikanth’s latest movie, Kabali is gearing up for release this month. The movie is touted to be released in around 5000 theatres all over the globe. In Kerala, Superstar Mohanlal’s Aashiravad Max Lab who bagged the distribution rights is preparing to release the movie in around 250 centres. 6000 shows are estimated for this biggie in Kerala with 6 shows on daily basis.

One of the owners of Aashiravad Cinemas-Max Lab, Antony Perumbavoor believes that movies like Kabali release only rarely and there was tough competition for gaining the distribution rights for Kabali release. Antony Perumbavoor tells that there was huge bargaining over the outright prices and finally the amount was settled for 8.5 crores. So obviously the risk involved is also very high to break even the whopping amount.

But the distributors believe that the star power and mass appeal of Superstar Rajinikanth can overcome all the odds and emerge as one of the biggest blockbusters in South Indian cinema. After directing critically and commercially acclaimed films like Attakathi and Madras, Pa Ranjith is writing and directing this much awaited movie.

Kabali is a gangster flick centred around a Malaysian don Kabaleeswaran. Music is by Santosh Narayanan and the tracks are already a big hit with the song Neruppu da topping all the charts. Radhika Apte, Dinesh, Kalaiarasan, Kishore,Dhansika,John Vijay and others play supporting roles in this movie produced by Kalaipuli.S.Thanu under his banner V Creations.

Kerala Box Office : Kasaba set a new weekend record in Mollywood

Mammootty starrer Kasaba is continuing to break records here in Mollywood and it had set a new record last day. The 4 day collection of the film is out and from 4 days it had grossed 7.36 crores from Kerala alone. The flick had got an extra day on its first weekend as it was a Thursday release and because of that it had set a weekend record here in Mollywood breaking the records of movies like Mohanlal starrer Loham, Nivin Pauly starrer Premam and Dulquer Salmaan Starrer movie Kali.

Loham had got a total figure around 6.2 crore (4 days) and Premam also got near 4.85 cr (3 days) from its first weekend . Kali starred by Dulquer Salmaan crossed 4.29 crore mark in just 2 days as well.

The pre-release hype and anticipation level had contributed to this earth shattering opening got by this movie and the genre also helped it. A mass masala movie aimed at fans and they received it well with both hands. The year 2016 has come to a mid-point as 6 months has been gone by. The half yearly box office reports from Kollywood has come and it suggests that Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay starrer Theri is the only movie that acquired a blockbuster status in Tamil Nadu. It had collected 50 crore producer’s share from Tamil Nadu alone. The film had done well in Kerala and Karnataka as well.

The Telugu version of the movie also done great and the Hindi channel rights of the movie had fetched 6 crore. Nithin Renji Panicker, the son of Renji Panicker had made a great debut in Mollywood with the movie Kasaba starring Mammootty. Nithin Renji Panicker had scripted and conceived this movie and provided a mass masala action thriller for the fans of the mega star to celebrate their super star. Oppam trailer will be released along with Kabali in theaters ?

A report is doing its round in Mollywood industry which says that Mohanlal-Priyadarshan team’s movie Oppam’s trailer will be released in theaters along with Kollywood superstar Rajinikanth’s movie Kabali. Even though there is no confirmation regarding this news, chances are there for it.

Because the Kerala distribution rights of the movie Kabali has been bought by Aashirvad Cinemas owned by Mohanlal and Antony Perumbavoor. Maxlab, the distribution wing of Ashirvad will distribute the movie all around Kerala in more than 200 screens. Oppam is also the home production of Mohanlal under the banner of Aashirvad. So, there are chances that the teaser or trailer of the film may be attached to the movie Kabali in theaters here.

Prithviraj or Nivin Pauly to play the lead in Parvathy directorial movie ?

Some rumors are doing its round in social media platforms related to Parvathy and her debut as a film maker here in Mollywood. Unconfirmed reports says that Parvathy is going to make her debut as a director here and oung superstar Prithviraj or Nivin Pauly to play the lead in that movie.

Mammootty movie titled Kasaba which graced the screens in Kerala the next day after the auspicious Eid day, is showing steady business at Kerala box office. This Nithin Renji Panicker movie had earned a record breaking figure on its first day by collecting a figure of 2.48 crore. On its second day it witnessed a big drop as it had got around 1.49 crore and there was a drop of almost 1 crore from its first day gross.
