Mohanlal-Sibi Malayil team uniting again ?

Mohanlal and Sibi Malayil, an actor-director pair who had given us some evergreen classic films earlier is all set to unite again and if the reports coming in are true, then we may see a film from this combo next year. Producer Santhosh Kottayi (Laila O Laila fame) had posted a photo on his Facebook profile which he took from Hyderabad during a meeting with Mohanlal where director Sibi Malayil also present with them. Mohanlal is at Hyderabad now for the final schedule of Janata Garage, his Telugu film with Jr. NTR.

Few weeks back, Onlookers Media had published an article related to the impact this pair had in Mollywood and how relevant was their movies in M-Town. We also mentioned about the need of such films from this combination again to bring back the quality once we had in Mollywood. People still expect great films from this combo and when it comes to Sibi Malayil, audience here believes that he is one among a few who can make movies which can bring the best out of Mohanlal as an actor.

What we can make out from the Facebook post of Santhosh Kottayi is that, Mohanlal-Sibi Malayil combination may come again very soon and it will be produced by Santhosh Kottayi under his production banner of Finecut Entertainments. Let’s wait for the official announcement of the project.

Kasaba, this Nithin Reniji Panicker directorial and scripted action thriller is all set to grace the screens here in Kerala on this coming July 7 and it will come as the Eid release in Mollywood. The film has Mega Star Mammootty playing the lead role in it along with Kollywood actress Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar and Kannada actress Neha Saxena.

This big budget action thriller will be a mass masala entertainer and will have all the elements for the fans of Mammootty to enjoy in theatres. Rahul Raj, the music director of this film says that Kasaba will make the audience excited and thrilled as it has lot of mass elements in it for them. He says that many people may be waiting for Rajinikanth’s Kabali, but he is waiting for Mammootty’s Kasaba.

Mammootty playing a cop in this movie and his character name is Rajan Zakariah who is a Circle Inspector of Police. He had to go for an investigation near a place in the Kerala- Karnataka boarder and the problems he faces there forms the crux of the plot as per reports. As per reports the film will have lots of twists and turns in the story line which will make the audience stunned.

Ozhivu Divasathe Kali Review

Ozhivu Divasathe Kali is one of the major releases here in Mollywood today and it is directed by Sanal Kumar Sasidharan. He wrote the screenplay of this movie as well based on the short story written by noted writer Unni R with the same title. The flick had attracted the attention from the audience when it had won the Kerala State Film award for the best film of 2015. It had also won many prestigious awards at various popular film festivals in India and appreciation from eminent personalities from cinema and literature also helped the film to get the attention. But it had hit the screens only because of Ashiq Abu, who came forward to distribute the movie when the team behind the film was desperate for a distributor who supports good films without considering whether the movie has a popular star in it or not.

The flick revolves around five men or more precisely five middle aged men who plans a booze-party on a holiday during an election time. For that they goes to a guest house in a forest. They wants to get some fun and relaxation there. But as time pass by each of them begins to express the wilderness that is hidden in them. So, they decides to play a game which they were used to play when they were children. Dharmapalan, Vinayan, Ashokan, Dasan and Thirumeni were the 5 friends who engages in the game.

This is not just a film but an experience to say in one word. Because it was made in such a realistic manner that we often forget that it is a movie that filmed using a camera. We just feels that a real incident is going on in front of our eyes and the dialogues and performance of the artists were so natural and convincing. The highlight of this film is its second half or post interval part. The whole second half was completed in a single shot and the flick ends with a stunning climax literally.

Sanal Kumar Sasidharan who had earlier made Oral Pokkam and won great appreciation once again showed the craftsmanship he has with this film. The screenplay was fabulous and 100% realistic and the making was also good considering the way they made it and the small budget they had. There is no artificiality at all in the narration and it is the success of its director. The film not just has entertainment in it, but also has many things which makes you think about different issues in our life and society. The screenplay had touched upon issues like Politics, Caste, Religion, Sex etc and told how people in our society manipulates all these to attain selfish goals.

The film focuses on the insufficient nature of our democracy and also our legal system through a satirical manner. It also shows the plight of low caste women who forced to serve under dominating males and it showcases how they fight it out standing there. The effect of alcohol on an individual also comes as a topic in this movie through the changes that occurs to each of the characters in this movie while they were having drinks. Their dialogues and actions changes drastically at many points and silly arguments makes way for bigger problems as well. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan had nailed it this time.

Performance from all the artists were very good. Gireesh Nair, Baiju Naito, Pradeep Kumar, Sreedhar Ganeshan, Arun Narayanan, Nisthar Sett, Reju Pillai, Abhija Sivakala etc were the artists who acted in this movie. Baiju Naito’s performance as Dasan needs a special mention as he had done a really great job in the film. The flick does not have songs and very little background music. Only the last part has some background score and Basil Joseph had done it neatly. Indrajith had cranked the camera and it was decent too. Appu N Bhattathiri edited the flick which is around 106 minutes of length.

In Total, Ozhivu Divasathe Kali is a great experience on Celluloid and it can be termed as a never seen before movie experience. A Much better performance on the technical side may have enhanced the effect of the film. Still, the film is a really enjoyable as well as eye opening experience for the viewers.

Lens Movie Review

Lens is one of the feature films that released today in Mollywood. It is a bi-lingual movie came from a team of newcomers. People not really aware that there is a film coming named Lens in Mollywood and suddenly it got all the attention from the film lovers here, when director Lal Jose had took up the responsibility of distributing this film under his production and distribution banner named LJ Films. The film is directed by debutant Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan and the flick had got all the more attention when eminent film personalities like Vineeth Sreenivasan and Tamil director Vetrimaran spoke highly about the movie. The flick had released in selected screens all over Kerala today thanks to Lal Jose who came forward to support the movie after watching it.

The plot of the film revolves around an interaction between two strangers through internet and the plot takes a turn when that interaction became a kind of hostage drama literally. Aravind is the name of the protagonist and he is a married young man, He is very active in social media and interested in cyber sex more than a physical relationship with his wife. He becomes friends with strangers through online means and once he gets a request to watch the live video of suicide from one of his online friends. The story moves forward from there as thriller and also in a realistic manner.

Jayaprakash Radhakrishnan had just made a brilliant film and we can say that Lens is one of the best thrillers released here in Mollywood recently. The screenplay is fabulous and it follows the path of a Psycho thriller at many places. The narration of the plot is in such a way that it will hold you at the edge of your seats till the very end of the movie. There are no songs in this movie which actually helped the cause as the film did not lag at any parts. Cinematography was very good and it really enhanced the effect of the movie on the spectator. Background scoring was also nice and editing could have been better. The director had followed a completely different path to narrate the plot and he told it by breaking all conventional rules in cinema, through which thrillers had been told before. The sound design of the movie has been fantastic as well.

Director Jayaprakash himself played the lead character named Aravind and he had done a very good job as an actor as well. Many new faces had acted in it and no one let the film down as all of then gave decent performances. Specially, the actor who had played the character named Yohan had done exceedingly well.

Lens is a film that will give you a haunting feel and a thrilling experience. At the same time it gives a message to our society and young generation particularly. The internet addict or porn addict young men in our society making things worse for them and the whole society. This film tells us about the traps that are waiting for us in digital media and also how it makes us fell in those traps even if we think that we are protected from it. Lens is a small film, but it has something big in it and never miss it.

Udta Punjab Review

Udta Punjab is the new release from Bollywood this week and have to say the film is one of the most anticipated film of this year. But all those anticipation had come from some negative issues that affected this movie directed by Abhishek Chaubey and produced by Anurag Kashyap. At first Censor Board of Film Certification in India had banned this film from screening and suggested 89 cuts from the film along with a change in its title. They said that this film insults the state Punjab. But people from all around India come out by reacting strongly against this attittude by censor board and even the Mumbai High Court slammed the CBFC.

At last they surrendered and certified the film with an Adults Only Certificate. But the next day, the censor copy of the film had leaked and came on internet. Now, the flick has released all over among all this problems. Shahid Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor playing the lead role in this film.

The plot of the film deals with the drug cartel that running in the state of Punjab. Four characters takes the center stage in the plot. A rock star played by Shahid Kapoor, a migrant labourer played by Alia Bhatt, a doctor by Kareena Kapoor and a police man by Diljit Singh. All these four characters are connected with one thing as they are fighting the menace of drugs in their life in their own manner. Tommy played by Shahid Kapoor is rock star who is a drug addict. He caught up in a legal issue realizes the effect of his drug use and the songs he created encouraging drug use among the youth of Punjab, while he was in Jail.

Diljit Singh played the character of a police officer who used to take bribes from drug dealers. But when his own brother becomes a drug addict, he realizes the negative side of it and comes forward to find out the source by helping the doctor character played by Kareena Kapoor who is an active fighter against drug use in the society. Alia Bhatt’s character is a migrant labourer who becomes the pray of forced prostitution when she tries to sell drugs which came in her hand accidentally.

We have to say Udta Punjab is amazing in one word. Abhishek Chaubey had created a magic on celluloid with his tight screenplay and great directorial skill. Sudip Sharma who co-written the film deserves applause as well. The film is a realistic portrayal of life and also an emotional journey of the lead characters. But the director had presented such a serious subject in an entertaining manner which go really well with the audience.

Even though the film has lot of abusive dialogues used in it, it is needed for the perfection of the plot and situations in the story. The film is hilarious at many parts and the performance level artists is awesome in this movie. The story gives equal importance to all major characters and presented the effect of drugs in their life with all its intensity.

Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were stunning and Kareena Kapoor, Diljit Singh etc were also superb in this film. This may be the career best from Shahid Kapoor as he lived as Tommy in this movie. Alia Bhatt has been fantastic as well as she had played the girl from Bihar with ease and in the emotional scenes, she was splendid. The camera work from Rajeev Ravi was amazing and the locations were also fabulous. Music by Amit Trivedi and background scoring by Benedict Taylor really blend with the atmosphere in the film and the editing set the film on a great pace as well which will never make you yawn inside the theater even for one moment.

A man died of heart attack while watching Conjuring 2

James Van directorial Hollywood horror thriller named Conjuring 2 already become a worldwide super success amassing great reports from all over. People is of the opinion that Conjuring 2 is one of the scariest horror films they ever saw and many people says that it is way better than its first part. Now a sad news is coming from Tamil Nadu that a man there died of heart attack while watching the film there.

The incident happened at Thiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu. Conjuring 2 was screening there at a theater named Balasubramaniayar theater and one of the audience who was watching the film from there died while watching the movie. The man is not recognized by anyone till now as his identity remains unknown as of now. He said to be of the age around 60 years.

He felt chest pain while watching the movie and died at the spot says the eye witnesses. He is an Andhra Native as per reports and he is living in an Asram at Thiruvannamalai. Even though he was taken to hospital after he fainted down with chest pain, he was dead when the ambulance reached the hospital. Police had started investigation to know his identity.

The film had relaesed all over Indian in almost 900 screens and running to packed houses now.

Yesterday Kerala Police had at last captured the one who had brutally raped and murdered Jisha. Media celebrated that news with all its importance and social media too reacted in an intence manner. The murderer of Jisha is an Assam native named Ami Ul Islam. But Police did not given his picture to media as there are some more legal procedure to be completed before presenting him in the court. The interrogation is still going on and some sceientific tests results yet to come as well.

But a photo now is spreading in social media saying that it is the picture of Jisha’s murderer. In fact it is a youngster’s photo who is a native of Alappuzha district in Kerala and his name is Jackson. He is from Pathirappally, Alappuzha and somebody had uploaded his photo saying that it is the image of Jisha’s murderer.

Social media waiting for something related to this case and they unknowingly spread it as usual. But now this innocent youngster is on the verge of suicide and his family, friends etc requests everyone not to spread his photo and destroy his life.

Earlier when a sketch of the suspect was released by Police, another youngster named Thaslik was harrased like this by social media by spreading his photo saying that it is the one of Jisha’s murderer. Later he come out and requested everyone not to spoil his life. Now, Jackson become the victim of the same issue. The real murderer was arrested from Thrissur-Palakkad boarder.

Nithin Renji Panicker, son of popular writer, director and actor Renji Panicker, is all set to make his debut here in Mollywood as his first film named Kasaba is ready for an Eid release here in Kerala. The film starring Mammootty in the lead will hit the screens here on July 7 and it will be a Mass masala action thriller from Nithin Renji Panicker. Nithin Renji Panicker had written the screenplay of this film.

Nithin Renji Panicker said earlier that no one have to come to the screens to watch Kasaba expecting a Renji Panicker kind of movie. Kasaba will be different from that as the central character played by Mammootty named CI Rajan Zakariah will be a unique character. Nithin Renji Panicker told to media recently that he has been influenced by many films, which came from writers and directors whom he loves. According to Nithin he has been influenced a lot by Mohanlal starrer Shaji Kailas movie Narasimham and Suresh Gopi starrer Joshiey film named Lelam. Narasimham was scripted by Renjith and Lelam was scripted by his father Renji Panicker.

Nithin Renji Panicker said that he loved Mammootty films like Arappatta Kettiya Gramathil by Padma Rajan and Sangham by Joshiey as well. Nithin Renji Panicker says he was influenced by the situations and dialogue pattern written by his father and at the same time tried to create his own style as well. When he watched Lelam, he felt that it was the best movie in India at that time. That much was the impact of that film on him.

Nithin Renji Panicker don’t believes in the notion that old films and the pattern they followed has no relevance at all now. So, he begun the filming of Kasaba by remembering all the earlier film makers and writers who influenced him in some way or other.

August Cinemas owned by Prithviraj, director/cinematographer Santhosh Sivan, Shaji Nadeshan and actor Arya will produce this movie, which is planning to start filming in the last week of July. Earlier there were reports that this film is titled as My Dad David. But as of now, the team behind the film not yet fixed any title for this movie.

Prithvi Raj reportedly had given 15 days for this movie for filming his part.
