Akashvani Malayalam Movie Review

Akashvani is one of the two releases that graced the silver screens of Mollywood on this Friday and it is indeed an anticipated release as it came with a notion that actress Kavya Madhavan, who is one of the most popular actress of aAll-time in Mollywood, is making a comeback after a lay off. The male lead in this film is Vijay Babu and he is playing yet another hero role after the great appreciation he got through the lead character in Neena directed by Lal Jose last year. The film was directed by Khais Millen who is a debutant and written by Vinod Jaya Kumar. The producer of this film is Praveen Arackal and he had produced this film under the banner of Royal Splendour Creations.

The film tells us the story of a husband and wife named Akash and Vani played by Vijay Babu and Kavya Madhavan respectively. Both are having family problems because they don’t get much time to spend with each other as they are busy with their respective jobs. Akash is a popular builder and Vani is working a Television Channel as well. So the movie moves forward with their efforts to resolve the issues. But some events follows and the films shows us what those problems are and how they cops up with all that problems. Khais Millen had made a decent debut through this film. Even though it does not have anything extra ordinary or anything that we never saw before, it had a something in it which keep us engaged most of the time. The simple narration helped the subject to reach to the mind of the audience and he did good in telling the story without an overdose of emotional scenes.

The screenplay was pretty decent as well. Even though it had many clichéd scenes and situations, it never really made you yawn by sitting in the cinema halls. They told what they have to tell in an honest way without much complication. Vijay Babu had again did a great job as he looks perfect as Akash. His dialogue delivery and all that was very much convinced the character. Kavya Madhavan had also made a good comeback as she had done justice to her talent by playing Vani, giving all justice to that character.

The performances of other actors like Saiju Kuruppu, Lalu Alex, Sreejith Ravi, Sethu Lakshmi, Sandra Thomas, Anjali Aneesh Upasana, Lijo Jose Pellissery was also convincing. Music of the film was created by three people named Anil Gopalan, Anna Katharina Valayil, Rahul Nambeeshan etc and they had done only an average show. DOP was done by Indrajith S and he too had not disappointed us.

Akashvani is a decent family entertainer which gives you some fresh moments and at the same time some forgettable moments as well. It depends on the spectators, how to take it.

It has been a great news for Mollywood film lovers when the news came in that Mohanlal, the most loved star here in Mollywood is teaming up for the first time in his career with Lal Jose, who is now one of the most favorite film makers in Malayalam cinema. Lal Jose had given us plenty of films and Dileep was the hero who acted in most of his films as male lead. He had made films with Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Prithviraj, Kunchacko Boban, Fahad Fazil, Dulquer Salmaan etc in his career, but did not got the chance till now to cast Mohanlal in his films who is undoubtedly the greatest actor living in our country.

Lal Jose expressed his wish to direct Mohanlal many times and this year will witness the union of this fabulous combination. As per reports, Mohanlal will play the character of a college lecturer in this upcoming Lal Jose film. This is not a confirmed report, but a rumor is started doing its round in social medias already. Mohanlal had earlier played ones such role in Priyadarshan film named Cheppu years back.

The film will be produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Ashirvad Cinemas, which is Mohanlal’s home production banner of course. Benny P Nayarambalam is writing the screenplay of this film and it will be his second screenplay for Mohanlal after the super success named Chotta Mumbai which he wrote for Mohanlal-Anwar Rasheed team in 2007. Lal Jose himself said to media that his film with Mohanlal will be a comedy family entertainer and he want to use Mohanlal the actor rather than the stardom of Mohanlal. It is for such a story that he had waited so long.

Earlier Lal Jose had planned a film with Mohanlal and Prithviraj in the lead named Cousins. But, they had certain issues with the story later and the project was shelved. Iqbal Kuttippuram had roped in to write the script of that dropped project. This Lal Jose-Mohanlal film will start once the screenplay is over and Mohanlal get himself free from the current commitments. Let’s wait of the Lal magic in its all sense.

One of the most senior and popular actor in Mollywood, Madhu now doing a Bollywood film and it will be the second Bollywood film in his whole career. The film is directing by Anil and the title of Madhu’s latest Hindi film is Mayya. He is acting in a Bollywood film after very long years and Madhu says that he is very happy to be back to Bollywood again for a film. His first Bollywood film was Sath Hindustani directed by K A Abbas and it was released in the year 1969.

Sath Hindustani was the debut film of Bollywood Legend Amitabh Bachchan as well. Sometime Back Amitabh Bachchan had shared a photo from the shooting days of that film through his twitter account and he not forgot to mention Madhu in it. Madhu had acted in two Tamil film as well named Dharma Durai and Oru Ponnu Oru Payyan. In Dharma Durai, he had played the father character to Super Star Rajinikanth.

He had acted more than 300 films and directed more than 10 films as well. He is produced films as well. In this new Bollywood film of him named Mayya, Asha Putli is playing the lead role.

Nivin Pauly’s latest release named Action Hero Biju directed by Abrid Shine is now running in theaters here in Kerala. The film which released among great hype had received a mixed response from the common audience even though critics had showered praises on the film. Everybody expected it to be a mass action film that gives us a fire brand cop.

But actually, the film was a realistic one which told us the life story of a police officer named Biju Paulose, played by Nivin Pauly. It gave us an insight into how a police station works in real life and what are the emotional situations through which a police officer have to go through every day. But how many people like that way of storytelling when the expectation was to get a mass action film from the young rising star of Mollywood. Now, Nivin Pauly says that some people had really tried to destroy their film using the aid of social media.

He said that both him and director Abrid Shine is aware of the situation and they had realized it on the day of its release. Bad reports were framed against the film and spread through Facebook and whatsapp. It had spread through Facebook comments, posts and some were even insulting and abusing Abrid Shine as well. All that was really looked like someone is hidden somewhere and really playing against them with the intention to destroy their film and through it them as well. Abrid Shine and Nivin Pauly had jointly produced the film.

Nivin Pauly and Abrid Shine says that the pain they had endured, specially, on the first 3 days of the film was terrible. It’s because they can see what is really happening and how they were getting attacked through social Media, but they are sitting helpless as well. But later many people like Sathyan Anthikkad, Anwar Rasheed, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Martin Prakkatt, Aju Varghese etc called them and appreciated them for the work they had done in the film. The collection also improved after the first 3 days and at that time they really had a sigh of relief.

Takeone Short Film Festival 2016 is all set to begin !

Take One short film Festival of the year 2016 is all set to begin and it had invited entries to it. Take One Short film competition is South India’s biggest such event and now this year’s event is started by calling for entries from short film makers to it. This Take One short film competition will be held at NIT Calicut and it is held as a part of their annual cultural festival named Ragam, which held every held every year. This year, it will be held from April 1 to 3, 2016.

The final date to submit our entries are March 6, 2016. The ones who will judge the work of yours will be eminent film personalities like Director/cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, Writer/director and actor P Balachandran and Writer Unni R. Blessey, is considered as one of the best director in Mollywood right now and perhaps the one who gave more number of classic films in a short career of his. He had started off with Kazhcha starring Mammootty in the lead and later done 6 films. Out of the 6 films after Kazhcha, the one who acted in most of his films is none other than Mohanlal. Mohanlal had played the male lead of 3 of his films named Thanmathra, which was his first film with him, then Bhramaram and later Pranayam.

All these films were considered as one of the best in Mollywood and also considered as the best performances of Mohanlal as an actor in the 21st century. All these films took Mohanlal to the final round of National film awards for the best actor as well and it was unfortunate that he misses out on all three occasion. Critics still believes that it was Mohanlal who deserved those awards more than anyone if the judgment was not biased. He says that it was Mohanlal that gave him the confidence and all support while they were doing films like Thanmathra and Bhramaram even when the key people related to the film went against his thoughts and ideas of making those ones. He said that he shares a special bond with Mohanlal and as an actor he is just beyond words of all appreciation.

According to Blessey, only Mohanlal can do those roles and only with him that he can even think about those films. Blessey said that Mohanlal is willing to take any risk and willing to do anything to make the film perfect and in many occasions while filming Thanmathra and Bhramaram, he just bowed down before this acting wonder as he is unbelievable subtle and perfect.

Mammootty-Nithin Renji Panicker film Kasaba starts rolling !

Nithin Renji Panicker, the son of popular writer/director and actor Renji Panicker is making his debut as a film maker in Mollywood and it will be with Megastar Mammootty in the lead. The film is titled as Kasaba and it had already began its filming in Kolar mines in Karnataka state. The film will tell a cop story and Mammootty is playing a police officer’s character in this film.

His character name is said to be Rajan Zakariah who is a circle inspector of Police. He had played many such characters in his career and some of them were become classics as well, like Inspector Balram. Renji Panicker had given Mammootty some fire brand characters in his career and now it is his son’s turn to give the super star another one like his father’s creation for the star.

Renji Panicker had written and directed a cop story with Mammootty named as Roudram. But it was not a well -received one when it comes to its box office performance. But Nithin Renji Panicker is all set to give a spectacular show by making the super star to play the cop again. The female lead of the film will be Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar and reports are coming that Poonam Bajwa will also play important role in this flick.

Mammootty not yet joined the film and as per reports he will join the film the next day. He was undergoing a short period of rest after he had been hospitalized due to high fever and high blood pressure. The film had begun with shooting the scenes with Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar and Tamil actor Sambath at Kolar. It will be Varalakshmi Sarath Kumar’s first outing in Mollywood. Her father Sarath Kumar had acted in many Malayalam films like Pazhassi Raja, Christian Brothers, The Metro, Oridathoru Postman etc. He had a good number of fans here as well and everyone hopes that his daughter will also do well here in Mollywood.

The character of Mammootty in this film is said to be eccentric to a level and at times he is very interesting as well. It will not be an out and out mass character, but will have enough mass elements in him for his fans. The film is produced by Good Will Entertainments.

Fahad Fazil starrer flick Maheshinte Prathikaram is making the positive reviews count at box office as well. The film directed by Dileesh Pothen and produced by director Aashiq Abu is creating waves at Kerala box office. It is after a long time that a Fahad Fazil film is making such a great run in Box office. He was really going through a bad period after the gigantic success of the multi-starrer film Bangalore days in which he played one of the male leads along with Dulquer Salmaan and Nivin Pauly.

He had many failures and forgettable films as well later. But this year seems to have given him a great start with the critically acclaimed film named Monsoon Mangoes and now Maheshinte Prathikaram giving him the much awaited box office success he waited for. As per the latest collection reports, the film had raked in a figure above 6 crore rupees in just 10 days of its theatrical run here.

On its first day it had only done an average business collection around 60 or 70 lakhs. But then it really began to show its strength at box office and now become the best film till now in Mollywood as far as this year’s releases here are concerned. The film got great critical appreciation as well along with its commercial success. It had increased the number of screens from 68 to 88 in one week and as per reports it will increase to more screens by next week.

The film is blessed with a great script from Shyam Pushkaran and Dileesh Pothen had made his debut film a great one. The performances from new faces was one of the real highlights of this flick which reminds us of the vintage Mollywood films.
