Anoop Menon’s tribute to late actress Kalpana

Kalpana, who passed away last day is now a sad memory for the film lovers here in Kerala and for her family and friends, the void she created was intolerable. One of the finest actresses we have ever seen in Mollywood and above all a great human being is what Kalpana was. Everyone in Malyalam film industry is still not out of the shock which the news of her death brought to them. Many are remembering the moments they spent with her with wet eyes. Popular Mollywood Actor Anoop Menon also remembering her and paying his tribute to that great actress and more than that a fantastic human being.

Kalpana played the female lead in the film named Dolphins, which was written by Anoop Menin and directed by Deephan. It had Super Star Suresh Gopi in the lead and her character was named Kochu Vava. She had got great appreciation for her performance as Kochu Vava, who was a dying patient, in that film. Anoop Menon remembering one of the incident while they were shooting the climax part of the film. There was heavy rain and they are near the secretariat building at Trivandrum.

Anoop Menon says that, at that time Kalpana said to him that the character Kochu Vava is very close to her real life. Like Kochu Vava she also expecting death all the time. Kalpana says that like Kochu Vava, she also see the death with the same smile on its face and she also wants to have a walk around with her husband under an umbrella in that heavy rain like Kochu Vava wants in a valentine’s day after her marriage with Sura.

Anoop says that he had never seen Kalpana with such a serious mood as she always seen cracking jokes. After shooting that scene, both Kalpana and Suresh Gopi cried a lot. Anoop says he had no question to ask them and it seems they had no answer either. Later, Once Kalpana told him that she had fears about hotel rooms as she feels that there is someone standing outside her door every moment. Anoop says that the admirer who stood outside her door was indeed a joker as only an idiot like him can burn a great and kind soul like Kalpana.

Premam had once again become the pride of Mollywood by scaling another peak in its theatrical run at Chennai. Yes, the film had crossed 250 days in Chennai and still continuing its run in two screens there. The film has one show at Escape Cinemas and one show at Mayajaal Chennai. The film had created such a great impact in Tamil Nadu that master film makers like Shankar, Selva Raghavan etc were praised the film and Selva Raghavan even said that in Tamil, there is no one now to remake Premam. He said that only Alphonse Puthren and crew can do justice to this film and everyone praised Nivin Pauly as well for his performance in the film.

The film’s impact there become more evident when Kollywood Film lovers who are active in social media started a campaign that they do not want to see the Tamil Remake of Premam as they are already in love with the Malayalam version and they are in love with each and every character of the film. They says that they do not want to replace those characters with any other. The Telugu Version of the film already started filming with the title Majnu and it has Naga Chaithanya in the lead.

Premam’s Success also had given a great fan base to Nivin Pauly there and it had given a new market for Malayalam cinema as a whole in Tamil Nadu. The songs of the film is chartbusters even in Tamil Nadu and every technical aspect of the film had received great appreciation there. The characters such as Malar played by Sai Pallavi and Celine played by Madonna had acquired huge fan following there at Tamil Nadu as well.

Those characters including Anupama Parameshwaran’s Mery had created a sensational fan following for the film in Kerala. But here the film ran only around 150 days due to the leaking of censor copy of the flick. But in Tamil Nadu, the flick showed its real metal and still continuing its run in theaters like in a dream. Even Tamil films are not ran 100 days last year in Tamil Nadu.

Dhanush to make is Hollywood debut

Kollywood young star Dhanush is considered as one of the best young actor in South India and specially in Kollywood he had rated among the top artists in terms his acting skills and success ratio. He had made his presence felt in Bollywood as well through films like Ranjhna and Shamithabh. Both were commercial and critical success and Dhanush had got great appreciation for acting skills as well. For the performance in Ranjhna, he got IIFA award for best male debut and in Shamitabh he got the chance to play the lead in the film along with none other than Amitabh Bachchan. And now as per the latest reports, Dhanush is all set to make his Hollywood debut as well.

Earlier it was a rumor that Dhanush will make his Hollywood debut soon. But now the reports says that it has been almost confirmed that he is going to play the key role in a Hollywood film and that too opposite Uma Thurman who is popular for classics like Pulp Fiction. The film will also have actor Alexandra Daddario who is popular for his character in the Television series True Detective. The film will be directed by Marjane Satrapi, who had earlier given us film like Persepolis.

The name of the film as of now is ‘The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir Who Got Trapped In An Ikea Cupboard’, and Dhanush plays a character named Aja in this film. Aja is a conjurer from an artists colony in India who sent to Paris by his mother. The movie will be shot in locations of India, Paris , Italy and Morocco. Marjane Satrapi is an Iranian writer and director who is quite famous for her films. Her last venture was Voices starring Ryan Reynolds.

Earlier Priyanka Chopra, Irfan Khan, Anil Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Nasurudheen Shah etc from Bollywood had acted in Hollywood films. But it may be for the first time that a South Indian film actor is been playing a key role in a Hollywood movie. Dhanush has a handful of Tamil projects as well named Kodi, Rail, Vada Chennai etc.

Mammootty to do his third character based on Mahabharatha !

Megastar Mammootty is all set to play the epic character named Karnan from Mahabharatha and it will be conceived by popular actor/director Madhupal based on the script written by actor/director P Sreekumar. It is the topic of discussion specially in online medias and social media platforms like Facebook and Whatsapp. The main reason for the discussion is that another film based on the same character of Karnna is announced with Prithvi Raj in lead.

So there are many who believes that only Prithviraj can do justice to this role in Mollywood as he is physically flexible and above all he is young. So there are doubts in the mind of some people that whether Mammootty can do this role or not. But before going to that debate, another interesting aspect of Mammootty’s career had come out. If he plays Karnna as per reports, then it will be the third character he will be playing based on the characters of Mahabharatha. It will be a unique record indeed.

We will explain if you are confused a bit by the above statement. Long years back, Mammootty had acted in a Tamil film named Thalapathy which had Rajinikanth in the lead and directed by Mani Ratnam. Mani Ratnam had conceived that film based on the relationship between Karnna and Duryodhana and the flick also has the characters based on Arjuna and Kunthi. He placed those characters from the epic to the generation of that period. Rajinikanth had played the character based on Karnan and Mammootty had played the character based on Duryodhanan in it who supported Karnan when his mother Kunthi (played by Sree Vidya) and brother Arjuna (Played by Arvind Swamy) despised him.

Years later a Malayalam film directed by Shaji Kailas and scripted by Renjith has been released and it was titled as Valyettan. In that fiilm it is indirectly saying that Mammootty’s character has shades of the character of Yudhishtira from Mahabharatha, who looks after his brothers. Now it is Karnan, that he going to play in Madhupal movie and it will be the 3rd character in his career which is based on the life of a character from Mahabharatha.

Prithviraj now emerged as one of the most bankable stars in Mollywood and it owes much to his attitude towards the Cinema and also his methods to select the films he does eventually. Even in the case of his recent hit Pavada, there are reports that he accepted the script of Pavada after rejecting four other scripts. That makes the things clear that this actor is giving importance to the screenplays that convince him as an actor and also as a film viewer.

It’s not the director, or production banner that attracts him, but the story and screenplay. That is the secret behind all his success. Even though there may be failures he is firm on his stand that even that failed films were impressed him as an actor. Prithviraj says that people now look up to what a cinema deals with rather than the name of a director, screen writer or an Actor. They will accept it if the film gives them something convincing and satisfying. For them now big names, banners and all that not at all a concern and reason to choose a film. That is the base of the so called new generation wave in Mollywood. He says that, with the popularity of social media, now a days films have to be very good to survive in box office as the response of the film will spread instantly from the word go through Facebook, Whatsapp, Twitter etc. So the so called designed films (Dance+ music+ stunts) will not work anymore here. It have to had something in it that really make the audience to merge in it.

Prithviraj said that he really loved some of the Mollywood films released recently. He said that he really feel sad after watching Left Right Left as he only able to see it so late. It was a film that had international standards.

Malayalam actress Kalpana passed away !

Mollywood had suffered a great loss today as one of the best actress here in Malayalam Cinema, named Kalpana, passed away today morning at Hyderabad Appollo Hospital. She had been admitted to Appollo hospital Hyderabad today morning in a critical condition. She had felt some health problems today morning and suddenly taken to Appollo Hospital at Hyderabad, but as per reports she had died before reaching the hospital. Heart attack is reportedly saying as the reason for death and more details about the reason will come very soon. Her dead body is now kept there at the Hospital. Kalpana was 51 years old and she was born in 1965 as the daughter of V P Nair and Vijaya Lakshmi who were popular stage artists.

She had acted in more than 300 films and had made their presence felt in major Indian languages as well. Her sisters Urvashi and Kala Renjini also become the popular actresses in Mollywood and they are still active in South Indian films. Kalpana’s last released film is Dulquer Salmaan starrer film Charlie directed by Martin Prakatt. Kalpana had also won national award for best supporting actress for her performance in the film named Thanichalla Njan.

She has been considered as one of the best actress in Mollywood and played comedy roles more in career. Her association with Jagathy Sreekumar is very popular in Mollywood. She had made her debut through the film named Pokkuveyil by G Aravindan in 1980. She made her entry as a child artist and later become one of the integral part of Malayalam cinema. She had acted in Tamil and Telugu films as well and in Tamil she had acted in some noted films as well. Kalpana was married to Malayalam film Maker Anil of the Anil-Babu duo and later they were divorced in 2012. She had a daughter named Sreemayi and daughter was living with her.

Mammootty starrer Karnan which will be directed by Madhupal is making the news after Prithviraj-RS Vimal’ film based on the same character had become a topic of debates and discussions few days back. There are lots of rumors now going around Madhupal-Mammootty film starting from its title.

There are many criticisms as well against the film as many people said that the choice of Mammootty to play karnan is a wrong one and he is not at all suited to play that role. Madhupal said in a recent media interview that those who are saying against their choice of actor Mammootty to play Karnan, must read Mahabharatham fully before saying such comments against the character and the film.

Madhupal said that the rumor which is spreading regarding the name of the film is also a fake one and they had not titled the film as Dharma Kshetram. They will announce it when the right time comes. He said that it is not an ordinary film but a big film with a great canvas. They can’t start shooting all of a sudden and have to do a lot of homework before the shoot. P Sreekumar is the writer of this Mammootty-Madhupal film and as per reports the greats from our industry already praised the screenplay written by Sreekumar for the film.

On the other hand, Prithviraj- RS Vimal team’s film is already titled as Karnan and that film is in its scripting stage along with the pre-production works.

Mammootty’s Karnan will launch next week !

If the reports coming are to believed, Mammootty-Madhupal team’s much awaited and talked about project based on the life of Karnan will be launched next week. Screen writer of this project, P Sreekumar said that they will announce the title of the film as well along with the official launch. We had earlier reported about the rumors which said that Mammootty-Madhupal film based on Karnan was titled as Dharma Kshethram. Now, P Sreekumar cleared the air around it by saying that all those rumors were fake and they not decided the title yet.

P Sreekumar also said that they will check the matter that whether Kavya Films which producing Prithviraj-RS Vimal film, had already registered the name Karnan or not. They had launched their film a week back with the title Karnan and P Sreekumar says that he is going to check whether they registered the name along with launch of their film or not. If not registered, then Mammootty film can use that title by registering it. But as per reports, Prithviraj-RS Vimal team’s Karnnan which will be produced by Venu Kunnappilly is already registered its title in Film Chamber.

Director Madhupal also alleged that they had registered the name Karnnan even after knowing the fact that another film with the same title is in its pre-production stage. Madhupal said that they never even bothered to ask for the permission of P Sreekumar or any one of the team behind the Mammootty starrer. He said that if RS Vimal’s Karnnan comes out as a better film than his one, then people will accept it. Both the films will be different even though telling about the life and struggle of the same character from Mahabharatha.

When Prithviraj was asked about the two movies, he said that he wants Mammootty-Madhupal team’s Karnan to come out first as it will help him to watch and learn from the acting of Mammootty as Karnan. RS Vimal had begun the scripting of his film and they are preparing big for the film as per reports.
