Between these years the movie got much recognition as it was remade into most of the Indian languages. In the Malayalam version of Manichithrathaazhu, Shobhana played the role of Nagavalli/ Ganga and the sound was said to be dubbed by Bhagyalakshmi alone.

There has always been a discussion on whether who did this effectively. And now it is revealed that both Bhagyalekshmi and Durga were called to dub for the same; as the director found the sound similarity both had they took Durga’s version for Nagavalli and Bhagyalekshmi’s for Ganga both for the leading actress Shobhana. Shobhana, who won the National and State Award for Best Actress for the film also revealed the power of the dubbing work.

Mammootty-Johny Antony team again with Thoppil Joppan

0

As per the latest report coming in, Mega Star Mammootty and popular director Johny Antony is all set to join hands again this year. The news says that they are coming with a film named Thoppil Joppan in which Mammootty plays an ‘Achayan’ character again. The film will be financed by SN Group and it will be a complete comedy entertainer as per reports. Screenplay of this film will be written by Nishad Koya who had wrote popular movies like Ordinary and Madhura Naranga. Deepthi Sathi and Andrea will be the female leads in this film.

Vidya Sagar to tune the songs for this movie and Sunoj Velayudham will crank the camera for the film. The film will be shot at the locations of Thopramkudi, Pala, Thodupuzha and Vagamon and the filming will begin in this coming April as of now after Mammootty completes a project directed by Nithin Renji Panicker as per reports. Johny Antony and Mammootty had done together 3 films before. They are Thuruppu Gulan, Pattanathil Bhootham and Thappana. Among these 3, Thruruppu Gulan was a super success released in 2006. Pattanathil Bhootham was a disaster and Thappana also not raised to the level of expectations.

There were news came earlier that Mammootty and Johny Antony will join for a film named Thiruttu Gramam in which Mammootty playing a thief. It is said to be writing by Benny P Nayarambalam. It seems that Thiruttu Gramam is shelved and now they had landed on this subject of Thoppil Joppan. Mammootty always shined in the Achayan characters he played over these years and the popular one is Kottayam Kunjachan. But the last two Achayan characters he played was not successes. They were Nasrani directed by Joshiey and Praise the Lord directed by Shibu Gangadharan. So Mammootty is also looking for making things right with what happened with the last two outings as ‘Achayan’.

Johny Antony also needs a success as he is going through a bad patch as well with some failures and had face a lot of criticisms as well. Hope Thoppil Joppan will be a terrific comeback of him as well.

Production Biggies : Exclusive chat show with Sandra Thomas

Friday Film House, this name had become the hope of newcomers who are coming to Mollywood now. It has also got the reputation of the production house which gives us films of different range and class. They had already introduced Six new directors before the film lovers here through the Six films that they had financed over these years. Not only the production side, but also the marketing strategies by the team is innovative and refreshing for the people here.

And all the credit of this success belongs to two people. Sandra Thomas and Vijay Babu, who owns and run all activities related to the Friday Film House. They are not just producers, they are popular artists in Mollywood as well and knows the art very well. They know what industry needs, what people wants and in what form they want. That’s what behind the secret of their success. We Onlookers Media, got the opportunity to speak with one of the main pillars of Friday Film House, Sandra Thomas. She is very happy now as their latest production venture Adi Kapyare Koottamani which released on last Christmas had become super success.

First of all congrats for the success you got through Adi Kapyare Koottamani. How your team landed on this project ?

The project had come when we took a break after the release of Aadu Oru Beekara Jeeviyanu. It did not do well in box office. Lots of criticisms also came behind the film to us. So we decided that we will not do films with newcomers anymore and will be doing with experienced directors. But later when the DVD’s of the film Aadu has been released, the film has got great acceptance and people began to appreciate us for the courage we took to finance such a different film. That is the time when we again decided to hear stories from newcomers with the hope that they can give us something new and very fresh.

We heard many stories at that time period and there came John Varghese with the script of Adi Kapyare Koottamani. At first he told me the thread. I found it interesting and later I gave the screen play to Vineeth Mohan who was there. He also found it very interesting and later I found my papa and mamma were reading the script with great enthusiasm. Then I realized that there is something in it to catch the attention of the audience. Then I contacted Vijay Sir and other processes happened very quickly from deciding the artists to the filming. After contacting Vijay Sir, we had an association with Carnival pictures and produced the film in association with them. That’s how Adi Kapyare Koottamani began to roll.

Sandra Thomas, interview with Sandra Thomas, friday film house, producer Sandra Thomas photos,

What is the real motivation behind your policy to support young and new talents who are coming to this industry..? Except Peruchazhi all other film you had produced involved new directors and young stars. So what is that thought process behind that risk which no other financers is ready to take in Mollywood. ?

We had started off with the film Friday, which was directed by a newcomer and also acted by Fahad Fazil who was just a newcomer then. Later came Zakkariyayude Garbhinikal and Philips and the Monkey Pen. All these films not just made profit for us but also brought us Seven state film awards and also got selected to screen in IFFK. So it really motivated us to do more films with newcomers. We started off with them and the fear factor was long gone till the time we really learned about cinema. So the confidence was there that we can give support anyone irrespective of whether he is new or not, if the subject has the potential. That confidence came from the experience we had got through all the films we made.

Sandra Thomas, interview with Sandra Thomas, friday film house, producer Sandra Thomas photos,

Malayalam Cinema is changing now. Once it had revolved around Super Stars and now Young stars is also getting equal importance and at some points youngster films getting a success where the so called super star films fails to attract and impress the audience. What is your take on that ?

I do not think that Super Stars films had failed to stand in front of young star films. But the focus had really shifted from stars to stories. The satellite market went down and that really helped the cause. Because till few years before, if you have a big star and a flat you can do anything and then calls it a movie. Even if the quality is poor you will get a great amount as satellite right owes to the market value of that star. But now it has changed. Now Channels are buying films looking at the directors who can trust, banners who gives minimum guarantee films. In other cases they bought films only after the release of the movie and studying the success rate of the film. So, now the focus is on making good movies rather than on getting the date of a big star. Friday Film House always gets satellite business done even before the release of the film because the channels trusts us. We never cheat them and always explains what really our film is. We always try to increase the production value of our films and make it with quality that never disappoints anyone. We know that if we want to be here for long, we have to be honest and sincere.

Sandra Thomas, interview with Sandra Thomas, friday film house, producer Sandra Thomas photos,

Now-a-Days Malayalam Cinema is following diverse marketing strategies. Some film makers believe in the traditional mouth publicity method and some like Friday Film House uses innovative marketing strategies. So, what you have to tell about the marketing strategies which can come inside the budget level of a Malayalam Cinema as a producer..?

We use only that amount of money what is needed for the innovative strategies that we adopt. Nothing more and nothing less. We never go overboard with our promotions and we really focus on effective marketing than spending a whole lot of money for that. We even get appreciation from many corners regarding our marketing strategies and we have succeeded in making Friday Film House, a trusted brand. So according to me, you have to market a film based on what type of marketing it really needs. More than spending a lot of money, you have to understand what kind of reach your film needs and what kind of expectation it has to generate among the audience before it releases. If you does it successfully, half the battle is won. There are many films which don’t even get enough promotions and only because of that it fails to attract the attention of the audience even after being a good product.

Sandra Thomas, interview with Sandra Thomas, friday film house, producer Sandra Thomas photos,

What really happened to Aadu Oru Bheekara Jeeviyanu..? It may be the first time in Mollywood history that a film that got bad response when it released in theaters got great following when it was released in DVD form. What may be the reason for that ?

When it was released, as you said I had received a lot of criticisms from everywhere and many people said that they did not expect such bad films from Friday Film House. Later we decided that we will never do any film with newcomers. There was nobody really ready to own the video rights of the film and we had released the DVD’s of the film of our own. But the response was tremendous. It had created an all-time record in DVD sales and still going strong. Many people began appreciating the film as well. There may have several reasons for all that. There was difference of opinions while making the film and something like that. But not at all in a bad way though. After the first week of its release we had trimmed the film by cutting some unwanted scenes. But the film got removed from many centers and the bad word of mouth was already spread to a level that we couldn’t do much at that situation.

One last question, Please tell us about the upcoming projects from your Friday Film House.?

We are planning the sequels of both Aadu Oru Bheekara Jeeviyanu and Adi Kapyare Koottamani. Adi Kapyare Koottamani 2 scripting is in progress and will come this year hopefully. We really want to release the second part of Aadu as well this year. The stars are also ready to co-operate. But director Midhun Manuel Thomas is now in the pre-production works of another project of him. So we are trying to make the sequel possible this year itself and if everything goes well, Aadu will come again this year. Apart from that we are hearing scripts from many newcomers as well.

It was really nice talking to you and we really thank you from the bottom of our heart for giving us a part of your valuable time. You are doing a great job indeed by giving support to a lot of newcomers and all the very best for all your future ventures from the team of Onlookers Media.

Tamil people says they do not want Premam Tamil remake !

Premam, the last year Malayalam blockbuster has been a real sensational film as it still making news in social media and still every news related to it is going viral. The film has been a fantastic success all over in Tamil Nadu specially it had ran almost 225 days and still going well. The Telugu remake of the film is already started its filming and Naga Chaithanya playing the lead in the telugu version titled Majnu.

Discussions about Tamil remake is going on and film makers like Selva Raghavn said that Premam can’t be remade to Tamil by anyone as the Malayalam version is just perfect and can’t be remade in Tamil with any existing actors and directors there. Now, a Tamil Facebook page named Awesome Machi had started a campaign titled ‘Say no to Premam Tamil’ They are saying that they are not at all eager to see the film in Tamil and they had given certain reasons for that as well.

The first reason is that the audience is already in love with the character named Malar played by Sai Pallavi and do not want see another one as Malar in the Tamil version. The second reason is that they already knows who really Celin is, in that film and what is Red Velvet Cake. Third reason is that they had already started fans associations for Malar and Celin after watching premam and can’t do it once again. Forth reason says that the film is already completed 200 days in Tamil Nadu and still running there.

5th reason says that they are already in love with the song Malare Ninne and can sing it now very well even though they don’t know Malayalam language. The 6th reason says that half of the movie is already in Tamil language as the character Malar is a Tamilian in the film. Now no need to make it in Tamil again. 7th reason is that the other half of the film which is not in Tamil language is in understandable Malayalam and so a remake is not needed to understand it.

The 8th reason tells that they had already watched the film a lot of time till now and now can’t watch a remake of that as well. The 9th and last reason says that they are not at all dumb enough to watch the same movie remake in the same language.

Anyway this is going viral in social media and once again it proves the impact this film had all around.

No Tamil films ran 100 days in Tamil Nadu last year but Premam crossed 225 days

0

Can we call it a miracle..? Or can we call it a sensational thing..?.. Whatever be the word used to describe, Premam really deserves it. We had already reported to you the news that Premam had completed 222 days of its theatrical run in Chennai. It had ran all these days in Escape Cinemas Chennai and last day Nivin Pauly himself arrived there and watched the film from their with a huge crowd. But this success of Premam becomes all the more sweeter and astonishing when we hear a fact that not a single Tamil Film had ran 100 days there in Tamil Nadu last year. But Premam did it and that too in an amazing way.

There are many good films came in Tamil last year like Thani Oruvan, Maya, Nanum Rowdy Than and many others as well. But no film able to complete 100 days there. Wide release may be called a reason for that but it is for the first time that we are seeing this phenomenon. In 2014 also Malayalam film Drishyam had completed 100 days run in Tamil Nadu. But there were many Tamil releases as well which completed 100 days of theater run easily. But this time Malayalam Cinema went past 200 days run and Tamil cinemas failed to even reach the 100 day barrier.

Many big star films were failed miserably there and that too affected the record of Tamil Cinema last year. Suriya’s Mass, Vijay’s Puli, Vikram’s 10 Ennarudhukkullai and Ai, Kamala Hasan’s Papanasham etc were not able to cross that 100 day barrier last year. Ai and Papanasham failed to do so even after getting mostly positive reviews. As per reports Jayam Ravi Starrer Thani Oruvan was the one which had ran highest number of days in Theaters of Tamil Nadu last year. As per sources it had ran almost 85 days there.

Anyway this is great for Malayalam cinema as a youngster film from Mollywood had got this tremendous reception in Tamil Nadu when their own films were bombed at the box office.

It is always like. Medias always shows great interest in the personal and private life of celebrities, specially, when it comes to the life of film stars or people who works in the film field.

Now Actress Lissy had come out against those medias saying that why they are showing so much interest in her personal life. Some medias reported that Lissy is still living in the house of Priyadarshan even after she got divorce from him. Lissy asks what is the problem of all these medias if she met Priyan or talk to him even after their divorce. She says that medias actually creating some fake reports and mentally torturing her with those fake reports. Lissy said that she and Priyadarshan got divorce because they realized that it will not be smooth if they live together. But there may be a chance that they may start living together again only for the sake of their children.

She said that even though they got divorce, Priyadarshan is still one of her great friends. She says that she sees him and talks with him regularly and he comes to visit her at her place as well. Lissy says that her children also in a lot of pain after hearing all those fake reports about her.

Soubin Shahir to play the hero in Aashiq Abu’s next venture !

Soubin Shahir to play the hero in Aashiq Abu’s next venture !

Popular Young generation Director Aashiq Abu is all set to start his next venture after Rani Padmini which had Manju Warrier and his own wife and actress Rima Kallingal in the lead. Even though the film has got good reviews from critics and lovers of different experiments, it was not a commercial success. In that sense Aashiq Abu is in a bit of dilemma as his last two movies were bombed at box office. Gangster which released in 2014 was one of the biggest disaster ever happened in Malayalam Cinema history and in Mega Star Mammootty’s career as well.

Rani Padmini can be termed as the comeback of the craftsman in Aashiq Abu even though it did not do well in box office. His great directorial skill was very much visible in that film. But failures will not bother brave directors and Aashiq Abu is one among that. He always looks for something new and fresh above all the commercial scheme of things in cinema. That is again evident when the news about is next film had come last day. Because he had chosen actor Soubin Shahir to play the lead in his next venture.

Soubin Shahir came to the film field as an assistant director. He was the associate of Siddique in Chronic Bachelor. Later he acted in Annayum Rasoolum directed by Rajeev Ravi out of friendship with him. But later he become a busy actor in Malayalam. The character of PT Teacher in the blockbuster success Premam was really a turning point in his career. He had acted in films like Chandrettan Evideya with Dileep, Loham with Mohanlal, Charlie with Dulquer Salmaan etc. Soubin Shahir had also acted in Aashiq Abu’s last film Rani Padmini as well. Even though he played only small characters in these films, all of them were quite popular thanks to his great comedy timing and style of acting.

Soubin Shahir and Ashiq Abu shares great friendship and we hope that the film they are going to do together will be a great one for both of them. No other details about the film is reveled to the media as of now.
