Malayalam cinema is now going through a fresh period after some bad time and this summer vacation season had really bring back good times for Mollywood box office cash register. The main reason for that is three people and they are the complete actor Mohanlal, Young sensations Nivin Pauly and Dulquer Salmaan. The films starred by these three had set the money bells ringing at the box office.
Mohanlal is always there at the top of the tree from the last 36 years and he once again proved that there is no one comes near him when the question of box office performance and star value is concerned. But when we take the case of the young generation actors we can see that 3 actors were cruising forward with great successes and they are Prithviraj, Dulquer Salmaan and Nivin Pauly. The above mentioned 3 were emerging as the actors who gives minimum guarantee to the producers and among the three of them Nivin Pauly seems to be the favorite of the producers right now.
As of now the trade guides are saying that if one have 5 crore rupees with them they can easily complete a film with the above mentioned 3 stars and they provides a minimum guarantee at the box office with almost 3 crores satellite right to the film and a good initial collection ans seems to be a safe bet at box office. Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya and Fahad Fazil comes below them in their star values. Jayasurya and Fahad Fazil was raised to the top till 2014 was begun and later their continuous failures pulled them down at the market very badly. Kunchacko Boban also lost value due to his bad selection of films and failures.
If a director had the dates of Nivin Pauly, Prithviraj or Dulquer Salmaan, a producer is always ready to start the film. From last year the satellite right was buying by the channels only if the film is a successful one. Thus almost 90 films released last year is still there without getting the satellite right. To complete a Mammootty, Mohanlal or Dileep film one needs almost 8 crore rupess and they also become very selective as well. So it is not easy to get them. All three of them have no dates for almost 2 years as they were very much committed to many projects. Asif ali, Indrajith, etc has lot of offers but most of their films were not even get completed as they have less market value and producers are not willing to take risk.
