Anthakshari set to stream on Sony Liv; Release date out

We had earlier reported about ‘Mudhugauv’ director Vipin Das’ new film ‘Anthakshari’ gearing up for direct release on Sony Liv. It has now been announced that the film will be having its premiere on April 22.

Earlier, the makers had released a trailer, a highly intriguing one with thrilling elements. The film has Saiju Kurup playing the lead role of a cop. Vijay Babu, Binu Pappu, Sudhi Koppa, Priyanka Nair, Sabareesh Varma, Kottayam Ramesh, Jenny Pallath and many others are part of the cast.

The film has music by Ankit Menon and cinematography by Bablu Aju. Johnkutty handles the edits. Al Jassam Abdul Jabbar is producing the film under the banner of Sulthan Brother’s Entertainments. Filmmaker Jeethu Joseph is presenting the film.

Sony Liv, meanwhile, also has the Mammootty-Parvathy film ‘Puzhu’ set for release. The OTT is fast establishing itself as a streamer that offers quality content. In Malayalam, they have so far directly released films like ‘Thinakalazhcha Nishchayam’, ‘Madhuram’, ‘Churuli’, ‘Salute’ and ‘Bhoothakaalam’.

Beast Mode: Third single from Beast is a smashing hit

The third single from Vijay’s upcoming film ‘Beast’ got released recently and it has turned out to be a big hit already. The song composed by Anirudh is the theme track, which has pulsating lyrics by Vivek. The catchy lines ‘Meaner, Leaner, Stronger’ has already become viral in social medias. Earlier, the makers had released two other singles — ‘Beast’, ‘Arabic Kuthu’ and ‘Jolly O Gymkhana’, which also got tremendous reception from the fans.

‘Beast’, meanwhile, is gearing up for a grand release on April 13. Written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, the film is an invasion-action entertainer made on a lavish scale. Vijay is playing a spy named Veera Raghavan in the film. Pooja Hegde plays the female lead. Director Selvaraghavan is also essaying an important role.

Others in the supporting cast include Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko, Aparna Das, Ankur Ajit Vikal, VTV Ganesh, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley and Liliput Faruqui.

Madhavan and Meera Jasmine to reunite after 20 years

Meera Jasmine, who is making a comeback with the upcoming Sathyan Anthikad-directorial ‘Makal’, is reportedly eyeing a return to Tamil cinema as well. Buzz is that the actress will be teaming up with her ‘Run’ co-star Madhavan and director Lingusamy for a new film. An official confirmation regarding the same is still awaited.

‘Run’ released in 2002 was a huge success at the time of its release. The action-thriller also marked Meera Jasmine’s debut in Tamil. She later starred with the likes of Ajith, Vijay and Vishal in films like ‘Pudhiya Geethai’, ‘Anjaneya’ and ‘Sandakozhi’. Her last Tamil release was ‘Vingyani’ in 2014.

Details regarding the rumoured Madhavan-Meera Jasmine project are expected to be revealed only after the release of Lingusamy’s upcoming film ‘The Warrior’. The Tamil-Telugu bilingual
starring Ram Pothineni is a cop-action film scheduled for theatrical release on 14 July 2022.

The makers of ‘Kaduva’ have released a new poster featuring lead actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film directed by Shaji Kailas promises to be high on action. Earlier, the makers had released a teaser presenting Prithviraj as a larger-than-life character who beats the pulp out of cops in main road. The star hasn’t done a full-fledged action role for a long while, so fans are excited about it.

‘Kaduva’ marks the comeback of Shaji Kailas after a long gap. Jinu V Abraham has scripted the film, which has Prithviraj playing a character named Kaduvakunnel Kuruvachan. Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi will be seen as the antagonist. He plays the role of a senior police officer, a DIG named James Elias Manjiledathu. The face off between Prithviraj and Vivek Oberoi is expected to be the film’s biggest highlight.

Suriya’s Etharkkum Thunindhavan out on Netflix

Suriya-starrer ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ has started streaming on Netflix. The film directed by Pandiraj had hit screens on March 10. Upon its theatrical release, the film fetched mixed response and ended up as an average affair at the box office.

The film inspired from the Pollachi sexual assault case has Suriya as an advocate. Based in a rural setting, the film talks about assaults against women, organized sex rackets and how Suriya’s character saves women from potentially dangerous situations.

‘Doctor’ fame Priyanka Mohan is paired with Suriya in the film and Vinay Rai essays the antagonist’s role. Sathyaraj, Saranya Ponvannan, Jayaprakash, Ilavarasan, Soori, Devadarshini, Subbu Panchu Arunachalam, Saran and many others are part of the cast.

After the film’s release, there were about the possibility of a sequel. However, the makers haven’t yet decided about it.

Aishwarya Lekshmi joins Vishnu Vishal’s Gatta Kusthi

Vishnu Vishal’s new film ‘Gatta Kusthi’ went on floors last day. Directed by Chella Ayyavu, it is a wrestling-based film made as a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. Vishnu Vishal Studio is jointly producing the film along with Telugu actor and Ravi Teja’s RT Teamworks. It has music scored by Justin Prabhakaran, cinematography by Richard M Nathan, and editing by Prasanna GK.

The makers have signed Malayalam actress Aishwarya Lekshmi as the female lead. The ‘Mayaanadhi’ actor was also part of the first day of shoot. Vishnu Vishal shared a few location stills in his social media and welcomed Aishwarya to the team.

Aishwarye made her Tamil debut in 2019 with the Vishal starrer ‘Action’. She also starred in ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ alongside Dhanush and the Amazon anthology ‘Putham Pudhu Kaalai Vidiyathaa’. She is also part of Arya’s ‘Captain’ and the upcoming Mani Ratnam biggie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’.

Venkat Prabhu’s next with Naga Chaitanya launched

Venkat Prabhu’s new film with Telugu star Naga Chaitanya got launched last day. The film is a Tamil-Telugu bilingual produced by Srinivasaa Silver Screen. More details regrading the project are awaited.

Last November, Venkat Prabhu made a smashing comeback after a long gap with ‘Maanaadu’. The film starring Simbu was a political thriller with a fascinating time-loop concept in it. The film became a huge success, both critically and commercially.

Venkat Prabhu followed it up with ‘Manmatha Leelai’, an adult comedy starring Ashok Selvan, Samyuktha Hegde, Riya Suman and Smruthi Venkat. The film, which hit screens on April 1, has garnered mixed response so far.

After the Naga Chaitanya project, Venkat Prabhu is planning to remake ‘Maanaadu’ as Telugu-Hindi bilingual. Interestingly, the films have different heroes for each language but the same villain. Details regarding the casting are not yet out.

New trailer of Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey released!

Shahid Kapoor-starrer ‘Jersey’ is set for theatrical release on April 14, 2022. Last day, the makers unveiled a new trailer of the film. It tells an inspiring and poignant story of a middle-aged family man making his return to cricket.

‘Jersey’ is the official remake of the Telugu film of the same name. Nani played the lead role in the orginal. The Hindi version is directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri, who helmed the original as well. From the trailer, it looks like a faithful remake. Shahid Kapoor seems to have lived up to the role, which was performed brilliantly by Nani. Mrunal Thakur reprises the female lead’s role, played originally by Shraddha Srinath. Shahid’s father Pankaj Kapur also essays a prominent role.

Allu Aravind, Aman Gill, Dil Raju, and S Naga Vamsi are producing the film. Anil Mehta is cranking the camera. Sachet and Parampara are composing the songs while Anirudh Ravichander makes his Bollywood debut by handling the background score.

We had earlier reported about Arya joining hands with his ‘Teddy’ director Shakti Soundar Rajan for a film titled ‘Captain’. Last day, the film’a first look got released, which had Arya as a soldier and behind him is an extraterrestrial creature. The film seems to be an action-packed sci-fi flick. It is produced by Arya’s The Show People along with Think Studios.

‘Captain’ has Malayali actress Aishwarya Lekshmi as the female lead. The ‘Mayanaadhi’ actor had made her Tamil debut in 2019 with the Vishal starrer ‘Action’. She was last seen in Tamil in ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ alongside Dhanush. She is also part of the upcoming Mani Ratnam biggie ‘Ponniyin Selvan’.

Shoot for the film been completed and the post-production work is currently progressing. The makers are planning on releasing it in the second half of this year.
