Ukrainian actor Maria Ryaboshapka to play the female lead in Sivakarthikeyan’s next

Sivakarthikeyan had recently signed a film with Telugu filmmaker Anudeep KV. Touted to be a Tamil-Telugu bilingual, the film is jointly produced by Sree Venkateswara Cinemas LLP, Suresh Productions and Shanthi Talkies. The makers have roped in Ukrainian actress Maria Ryaboshapka to play the female lead in the film. She has earlier acted in the Hindi web series ‘Special Ops 1.5’ and the Polish film ‘Eter’.

‘SK 20’ (tentative title), which also stars Sathyaraj, has music scored by Thaman. The film is expected to be a full-on comedy entertainer. Director Anudeep KV’s last film Jathi Ratnalu with Naveen Polishetty was a huge hit at the box office. Naturally, expectations are high when he teams up with Sivakarthikeyan, who is on a high after the smashing success of ‘Doctor’.

Sivakarthikeyan also has ‘Don’ and the sci-fi film ‘Ayalaan’ coming up. ‘Don’, in which he plays a college student’s role for the first time in his career, is scheduled for theatrical release on May 13, 2022.

The trailer of Ajay Devgn directorial ‘Runway 34’ got released recently. From the trailer, we learn that Ajay Devgn plays a pilot’s role in the film. The trailer shows his flight taking a mysterious course after take-off from an international destination. Rakul Preet Singh plays his co-pilot. Amitabh Bachchan plays Narayan Vedant, who takes the task of unveiling the truth. The trailer is neatly cut and doesn’t give away much about the film.

‘Runway 34’, which was previously titled ‘Mayday’ is said to be inspired by the real incident of a Boeing 737–800 aircraft that had a narrow escape in August 2015, after facing difficulties to land at the Kochi Airport due to bad weather and unclear visibility at the early morning time.

‘Runway 34’ has strong shades of the Hollywood film ‘Sully’, starring Tom Hanks, which was also based on a true incident. Produced by Ajay Devgn Films, the film is set to hit screens on April 29, 2022.

We had recently reported about director Venkat Prabhu, after the smashing success of ‘Maanaadu’, helming an adult-comedy titled ‘Manmatha Leelai’. Ashok Selvan plays the lead role in the film. Its trailer got released recently and is getting attention in social medias. From the trailer, it is learnt that the storyline is centred around an extramarital affair. It will be about major incidents that occur in the life of a young man across 2 timelines. Samyuktha Hegde, ‘Thegidi’ fame Smruthi Venkat and Riya Suman play the female leads.

Venkat Prabhu, who is known for coming up with unique taglines for his films, has used the tagline ‘A Venkat Prabhu quickie’ for ‘Manmatha Leelai’. Reportedly, the film was shot while there was a delay in the shoot of ‘Maanaadu’.

‘Manmatha Leelai’ has Venkat Prabhu’s brother Premgi Amaren as the music director. Thamizh A Azhagan is wielding the camera and Venkat Rajen handles the edits.

‘Manmatha Leelai’ will also be released in Telugu as ‘Manmatha Leela’. The film is produced by Venkat Prabhu’s own banner Black Ticket Company and Rockfort Entertainment. The makers have locked April 1 as the release date.

The much-awaited teaser of Alphonse Puthren’s comeback film ‘Gold’ got released last day. The 3-minute long teaser has the director’s signature all over it and brings back instant memories of his sensational blockbuster, ‘Premam’. The shots, edit patterns, colours and background score.. everything in the teaser is reminiscent of ‘Premam’. Within 13 hours of its release, the teaser has zoomed past 3 million views in YouTube.

While Prithviraj and Nayanthara play the leads in ‘Gold’, the film has an elaborate supporting cast as well. Shammy Thilakan, Ajmal Ameer, Mallika Sukumaran, Jagadeesh, Sudheesh, Abu Salim, Baburaj, Lalu Alex, Shanthi Krishna, Roshan Mathew, Vinay Forrt, Suresh Krishna, Deepti Sati, Shabareesh Varma, Chemban Vinod Jose, Jaffer Idukki, Prem Kumar, and Sabumon are some of them. In the teaser, it is also mentioned that the film will also have guest appearance from many others.

Alphonse is donning multiple hats for the film. Besides scripting and directing, he is also handling the edits, stunts, Visual FX, animation, and colour grading. Cinematography is handled jointly by ‘Premam’ fame Anend C Chandran and Viswajith Odukkathil, who recently made a noteworthy debut with ‘Hridayam’. Alphonse’s regular collaborator Rajesh Murugesan is composing the music.

‘Gold’ is jointly produced by Supriya Menon under the banner of Prithviraj Productions and Listin Stephen of Magic Frames.

After several delays and last minute postponing, the SS Rajamouli biggie ‘RRR’ is all set to hit screens this Friday (March 25). Expectations are humungous for this film across the country thanks to the Rajamouli factor and the stellar pre-release promos. The film is releasing simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.

In Kerala, Shibu Thameens of Thameens Films is releasing ‘RRR’. With no other big release to compete with, ‘RRR’ is expected to take a huge opening in Kerala. Rajamouli’s ‘Baahubali’ series was lapped unanimously by the Malayali audience, ending up as one of the highest grossing films in the state. ‘RRR’ is also expected to have a similar run.

Starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan as the leads, ‘RRR’ is a fictional take on two freedom fighters Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Jr NTR’s Komaram Bheem joining forces to fight the British. Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Olivia Morris, Samuthirakani, Alison Doody, Ray Stevenson, and Shriya Saran also star in it.

The Prithviraj-Suraj Venjaramoodu film ‘Jana Gana Mana’ is gearing up to hit screens on April 28, 2022. The film is directed by Dijo Jose Antony, who made his debut with the youthful entertainer ‘Queen’. It is produced by Supriya Menon and Listin Stephen under the banners of Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames.

Last day, the makers of ‘Jana Gana Mana’ introduced the female characters in the film with a new poster. It features Mamta Mohandas, veteran actor Shari, Vincy Aloshious and ‘June’ fame Vaishnavi Venugopal.

Rajeev Ravi to crank the camera for Driving Licence Hindi remake Selfiee

We had earlier reported about the hit Malayalam film ‘Driving Licence’ getting remade in Hindi with Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi as the leads. The film titled as ‘Selfiee’ is directed by Raj Mehta, who has previously worked with Akshay in ‘Good Newwz’.

Malayalam cinematographer Rajeev Ravi is cranking the camera for ‘Selfiee’. A National award winner, Rajeev is noted for his works in Hindi films like ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’, ‘Dev D’ and ‘Liar’s Dice’. ‘Selfiee’ is Rajeev Ravi’s second successive film with Akshay Kumar after ‘Bell Bottom’.

‘Driving Licence’, directed by Lal Jr, starred Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the main roles. Scripted by the late Sachy, the film is centered around a film star and his once-ardent fan, who is also a driving inspector. In the remake, Akshay Kumar is playing the superstar’s role and Emraan Hashmi essays the cop’s part done by Suraj in the original.

Prithviraj, who had also produced the original, is making his debut as a producer in Hindi with ‘Selfiee’ . He is co-producing the film along with Karan Johar’s Dharma Produtions, Akshay Kumar’s Cape of Good Films and Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames.

CBI 5 director K Madhu assures that the wait will be worth it

Post-production works for ‘CBI 5: The Brain’ is progressing at a brisk pace. The film marks the reunion of Mammootty with script writer SN Swamy and director K Madhu. Expectations are high on the film as it marks the return of Mammootty reprising as the iconic CBI officer Sethurama Iyer.

In a recent Facebook post, director K Madhu assured that the wait will be worth it. Sharing a couple of location stills, the filmmaker wrote,

As I went through the working stills of ‘CBI 5: The Brain’, this image brought a smile to my face. Here, me and Shri. Mammootty can be seen being totally engaged in our shot preparations. Seeing this, my mind raced back three decades to the first shot where we started together. As the latest product of this journey is being prepared, I want to tell all our well wishers that your wait will be answered very soon.

Along with Mammootty, the fifth installment of ‘CBI’ series also has Mukesh and Sai Kumar reprising their characters, Chacko and Sathyadas, respectively. Anoop Menon, Dileesh Pothan, Renji Panicker, Soubin Shahir, Asha Sarath, Ramesh Pisharody, Sudev Nair, Anna Reshma Rajan and many others are also part of the cast.

On the technical front, Jakez Bejoy has been assigned as the music director and Akhil George is the DOP.

Official: Vijay’s Beast release date announced

The makers of Vijay starrer ‘Beast’ have officially announced April 13 as the release date. The announcement was made by releasing a new poster featuring Vijay with a sniper gun. Last day, the film cleared the censors with a U/A certificate.

With ‘Beast’ release date announced, the stage is set for a massive box office clash with ‘KGF: Chapter 2’. The Yash-starrer is scheduled to hit screens on April 14. Both the films have massive pre-release hype and it will be interesting to see which of the two emerge as the winner.

‘Beast’, written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, is touted to be a fun-filled action entertainer made on a lavish scale. Vijay is reportedly playing a con-agent’s role in the film. The cast includes Pooja Hegde as the female lead and ace filmmaker Selvaraghavan in another prominent role. Malayalam actor Shine Tom Chacko, Aparna Das, Ankur Ajit Vikal, VTV Ganesh, Yogi Babu, Redin Kingsley and Liliput Faruqui will be seen in supporting roles.
