Fahadh Faasil to star in Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela director’s next

Fahadh Faasil has signed his next in Malayalam with ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’ fame Althaf Salim. Ashiq Usman, who has backed films like ‘Kali’, and ‘Anjaam Pathiraa’ and is backing this project. More details regarding the same are awaited.

Althaf Salim, who has also done brief roles in films like ‘Premam’ and ‘Operation Java’, made his directorial debut in 2017 with the family drama ‘Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela’. The film turned out to be a success, both critically and commercially. Expectations will be high when he teams up with Fahadh Faasil.

Fahadh, meanwhile, has wrapped up the shoot of Tamil film ‘Vikram’, also starring Kamal Haasan and Vijay Sethupathi. The ‘Joji’ actor has also signed another Tamil film titled ‘Maamannan’. Directed by Mari Selvaraj, the film also stars Udhayanidhi Stalin, Vadivelu, and Keerthy Suresh.

‘Malayankunju’, ‘Thangam’, ‘Paachuvum Athbuthavilakum’ and ‘Paattu’ are Fahadh’s announced projects in Malayalam. He also has the sequel to Telugu blockbuster ‘Pushpa’ lined up.

Kunchacko Boban in Nonsense director’s next

Kunchacko Boban and producer Ashiq Usman are set to reunite. The two have previously collaborated for ‘Shajahanum Pareekuttiyum’, ‘Varnyathil Aashanka’, ‘Allu Ramendran’ and ‘Anjaam Pathiraa’. Their new film will be helmed by MC Jithin, who made his directorial debut with ‘Nonsense’. Along with Ashiq Usman, this upcoming film also has Sameer Thahir and Shyju Khalid as production partners. More details regarding the project are awaited.

Kunchacko Boban currently has a handful of projects lined up. His next release is ‘Pada’, in which he plays the lead alongside Joju George, Dileesh Pothan and Vinayakan. The film directed by Kamal KM is set to hit screens this coming Thursday (March 10).

Kunchacko Boban has also completed the shoot of his Tamil-Malayalam bilingual ‘Ottu’/’Rendagam’, Ajay Vasudev’s ‘Pakalum Paathiraavum’, and the Mahesh Narayanan directorial ‘Ariyippu’. He recently started shooting for ‘Nna, Thaan Case Kodu’ directed by ‘Android Kunjappan’ fame Ratheesh Balakrishnan.

Dhanush and Selvaraghavan to act together in Naane Varuven

As reported earlier, Dhanush is teaming up with his brother Selvaraghavan for a new film titled as ‘Naane Varuven’. Last day on the director’s birthday, the makers released a poster featuring the two brothers. This has confirmed that Selvaraghavan is also acting in the film.

Of late, Selvaraghavan has shown great interest in acting. He is making his acting debut with ‘Saani Kaayidham’, directed by ‘Rocky’ fame Arun Matheswaran. He is also playing a prominent role in the upcoming Vijay-starrer ‘Beast’. Selvaraghavan has also been signed as the lead for ‘Draupadi’ director Mohan G’s next.

‘Naane Varuven’ has high expectations among Tamil cinema audience as it marks the reunion of Dhanush and Selvaraghavan after a long gap. The two have collaborated for many memorable films in the past like ‘Thulluvadho Ilamai’, ‘Kaadhal Kondein’, and ‘Pudhupetta’. Their last film together was ‘Mayakkam Enna’, which got released back in 2011.

After the completion of ‘Naane Varuven’, the brothers will be teaming up for ‘Aayirathil Oruvan 2’, an ambitious big-scale film planned as a 2024 release.

Prithviraj and Guppy director John Paul George to team up for a big budget film

Prithviraj is set to team up with John Paul George of ‘Guppy’ fame for a new film. Ashiq Usman is producing the film, which is planned on a big scale. Our sources within the industry inform that it is a heist thriller that is planned to be shot in Maldives. An official confirmation is awaited. Prithviraj will start shooting for the film once he completes the remaining portions of the ambitious Blessy directorial ‘Aadujeevitham’.

Prithviraj is currently on a break after completing the shoot of three of his upcoming films — ‘Jana Gana Mana’, ‘Kaduva’ and ‘Gold’. The actor will be using the time to get himself ready for ‘Aadujeevitham’, which is set to begin in Algeria soon. The team will also be shooting in Jordan and finally wrap up with a brief schedule in India.

Prithviraj’s next release will be ‘Jana Gana Mana’ directed by ‘Queen’ fame Dijo Jose Antony. Suraj Venjaramoodu also stars in the film, which is said to be a socio-political thriller. ‘Kaduva’ directed by Shaji Kailas and ‘Gold’ by Alphonse Puthren are also expected to hit screens this summer.

Maaran trailer out; Dhanush-starrer looks like a slick thriller

The trailer of Dhanush’s upcoming film ‘Maaran’ has been released online. Directed by Karthick Naren, the film promises to be an action thriller. Karthick has scripted the film with additional screenplay and dialogues by Malayali scenarists Suhas-Sharafu and lyricist Vivek.

From the trailer, we learn that Dhanush and Malavika Mohanan play investigative journalists. ‘Thadam’ fame Smruthi Venkat plays Dhanush’s sister while veteran actor Ramki plays their dad’s role. Samuthirakani, ‘Soorarai Pottru’ fame Krishna Kumar, and Master Mahendran play supporting roles in the film.

On the technical front, GV Prakash Kumar is handling the music and cinematography is by Vivekanand Santhosham.

‘Maaran’ is set to release directly on Disney + Hotstar. This will be Dhanush’s third successive film to get a direct OTT release after ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ and ‘Atrangi Re’.

Shah Rukh Khan’s much-awaited comeback film ‘Pathaan’ has finally got its release date. The makers have announced that the film will be hitting screens on January 25, 2023. The announcement was made they releasing an intriguing teaser featuring the three leads — Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone.

Pathaan is directed by Siddharth Anand, who has previously made ‘War’ and ‘Bang Bang’. The film was shot in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Spain, and other foreign countries. Shah Rukh’a character in the film is said to be a spy. It is reported that the film will have cameos from Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan. It is a part of expanding YRF’s spy universe. Salman Khan will be appearing as Tiger while Hrithik will be reprising his character Kabir from War.

Shah Rukh, whole last release came five years back, also has couple of other projects coming up. He is currently shooting for Atlee’s film co-starring Nayanthara, Priya Mani and Sanya Malhotra. SRK has committed for Rajkumar Hirani’s next.

We had recently reported about the Manju Warrier-Biju Menon starrer ‘Lalitham Sundaram’ getting a direct OTT release. Disney + Hotstar has bagged the streaming rights and the film is set to premiere this month. Manju Warrier’s brother Madhu Wariar is making his directorial with this film.

Madhu’s former classmate Rajiv Raghavan has come up with a sky diving video as part of promotions for ‘Lalitham Sundaram’ ahead of its release. Rajiv, based in Dubai, is the Operations Manager of James Legacy School. In a short video that captures his adventurous jump, Rajiv is seen dedicating his jump to Madhu Wariar and the whole team of ‘Lalitham Sundaram’.

Madhu has shared the video in his social media handle and has written,

‘Lalitham Sundaram’ scripted by Pramod Mohan is touted to be a feel-good, family entertainer. The film has Manju Warrier in an entrepreneur’s role while Biju Menon’s character owns an event management company. Anu Mohan, Deepti Sati, Dileesh Pothan, Reghunath Paleri, Saiju Kurup and Zarina Wahab also star in it.

Manju Warrier is producing the film along with Central Pictures.

The 2.12-minute long trailer promises a complete package of mass-masala entertainment. It has Suriya as an advocate and a villager, who apparently saves women from potentially dangerous situations. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the film is inspired from the Pollachi sexual assault case. The trailer introduces all the main characters in the film, including the female lead Priyanka Mohan and the antagonist Vinay.

Directed by Pandiraj, ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ promises to be an action-packed thriller. The film also stars Sathyaraj, Saranya Ponvannan, Jayaprakash, Ilavarasan, Devadarshini, Subbu Panchu Arunachalam, Saran and many others. Suriya’s ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ is getting ready for a grand theatrical release on March 10. Meanwhile, the makers are planning to release its trailer on March 2nd at 11 AM. Earlier, they had released a 1.07-minute long teaser, which was packed with shots of action and bloodshed.

Directed by Pandiraj, ‘Etharkkum Thunindhavan’ promises to be an action-packed thriller. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the film is inspired from the Pollachi sexual assault case. Priyanka Arul Mohan, who was last seen in ‘Doctor’, is paired with Suriya. Vinay Rai essays the antagonist’s role.

Jagathy Sreekumar shoots for CBI 5: The Brain

Shoot for the fifth installment in the CBI franchise is currently at its last stages. The film which has been titled as ‘CBI 5: The Brain’ marks the reunion of Mammootty, script writer SN Swamy and director K Madhu. All the four films in the series had Mammootty as CBI officer Sethurama Iyer while Mukesh and Jagathy Sreekumar played his colleagues, Chacko and Vikram.

While Mukesh was already confirmed in the cast, it is now learnt that Jagathy Sreekumar will also be making a cameo appearance in the film. The actor, who has been away from movies for nearly a decade since the near-fatal accident in 2012, has shot for the film despite not being in his best self physically. The makers have shared a location still featuring him along with Mammootty, Mukesh, Renji Panicker, SN Swamy and K Madhu.

On the technical front, Jakez Bejoy has been assigned as the music director and Akhil George is the DOP. Swargachitra Appachan is producing the film.
