Narabali: Check out this new song from Nayattu performed by Vedan

As ‘Nayattu’ enters its second week of theatrical run, the makers have released a new song video. Popular rapper Vedan and performed this song titled as ‘Narabali’. The film’s music director Vishnu Vijay has composed, arranged and produced the song.

‘Nayattu’ directed by Martin Prakkat has been rated by many as a hard-hitting and thought-provoking film. It presents a disturbing picture of how dalits are exploited and cops get victimized in a corrupt system. ‘Joseph’ fame Shahi Kabir has scripted this film.

The film is centred around three cops who are on a run after accidentally getting involved in a crime. Kunchacko Boban, Nimisha Sajayan and Joju George play the lead roles. The performances of all the three actors have been equally praised. The film has cinematography by Shyju Khalid and edits handled by Mahesh Narayanan and Rajesh Rajendran.

Veteran filmmaker Ranjith and PM Sasidharan have jointly produced the film under the banners of Gold Coin Motion Picture Company and Martin Prakkat Films.

Vishnu Unnikrishnan’s next titled Shalomon starts rolling

Vishnu Unnikrishnan’s new film ‘Shalomon’ has started rolling. Jithin Padmanabhan is directing the film and it is scripted by Nissam Gaus. Noble Jose is producing the film under the banner of Pepper Corn Studios. It will be presented by Iffaar Media and Raaffi Mathirra. Sujith J Nair and Shaji are the co-producers. Badusha NM is the executive producer.

‘Shalomon’ also stars Dileesh Pothan, Sudhi Koppa, ‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame Kichu Tellus, Sampath Raj, Adil Ibrahim, Soumya Menon, Anjali Nair. The film has cinematography by Pappinu and edits done by Riyas K Badhar. Gokul Harshan handles the music department. BK Harinarayanan and Vinayak Sasikumar are the lyricists.

Vishnu Unnikrishnan meanwhile has couple of other projects coming up. ‘Randu’ directed by Sujith Lal is gearing up to hit screens soon. The film’s teaser got released recently. From the teaser, it looks like a fun entertainer with a commentary on the current political situation.

Suraj Venjaramoodu and Ann Augustine to team up for Auto Rickshawkarante Bharya

M Mukundan’s short story ‘Auto Rickshawkarante Bharya’ is getting made into a film. It is set to be directed by veteran filmmaker Harikumar, who last helmed the film ‘Clint’. Suraj Venjaramoodu and Ann Augustine have been cast to play the lead roles in the film. The two will be seen as couple in the film. M Mukundan himself is penning the screenplay and hence it is expected to be a faithful adaptation.

The story revolves around a lazy auto-rickshaw driver Sajeevan, hailing from Meethalappura in Mahe. He is married to Radhika, a bold and mature woman, who is forced by circumstances to take up the auto-rickshaw for their living.

The film was first planned with Parvathy and Biju Menon in the lead roles but it could not materialize due to various reasons. Later, there were reports shout Manju Warrier doing the female lead’s part. Eventually, the makers have got Ann Augustine on board. The actress will be making her comeback with this film. She was last seen in a full-fledged role in ‘Nee-Na’, released in 2015.

Dulquer Salmaan starts shooting for his next in Kashmir

Dulquer Salmaan has started shooting for his next in Telugu. Hanu Raghavapudi of ‘Padi Padi Leche Manasu’ fame is directing the film. Swapna Cinema is producing the film and Priyanka Dutt of Vyjayanthi Movies will be presenting it. Shoot is currently progressing in Kashmir.

This yet-to-be titled film is a romantic period drama in which Dulquer Salmaan plays the role of an army officer named Lieutenant Ram. It is said to be a love story set in the 1960s. The makers have got Bollywood actress Mrunal Thakur to play the female lead’s role. She is noted for her roles in films like ‘Super 30’, ‘Batla House’ and the Netflix anthology ‘Ghost Stories’.

Vishal Chandrashekhar has been signed as the music director. More details regarding the cast and crew are expected to be out soon.

Dulquer had recently finished shooting for ‘Salute’, a cop film directed by Rosshan Andrrews. The star also has ‘Kurup’ and the Tamil film ‘Hey Sinamika’ gearing up for release.

‘Hridayam’ was fast progressing before the lockdown was announced last year. Since the remaining portions were mostly crowd and demanded outdoor shoot, the makers had to wait around over six months for th pandemic situation to get better. They’ve now managed to wrap up almost the entire shoot.

According to the makers, ‘Hridayam’ is about a group of individuals and their life journey. Vineeth has taken real-life inspirations to script this film. Aju Varghese, Vijayaraghavan, Arun Kurian and several newcomers are part of the cast. On the technical side, the film has Hesham Abdul Wahab as the music director and cinematography by Viswajith Odukkathil. It is jointly produced jointly by Merryland Productions and Big Bang Entertainments.

Prithviraj announces the release date of Kuruthi

‘Kuruthi’, a multi-starrer headlined by Prithviraj Sukumaran is getting ready for release. It has been announced that film will be hitting screens on May 13. The film has also gone through the censor process by getting a U/A certificate.
Though release date has been confirmed, the makers are still wary of the second wave of pandemic and the possibility of things worsening. Announcing the release date, Prithviraj wrote in his Facebook page,

‘Kuruthi’ directed by debutant Manu Warrier and scripted by Anish Pallyal promises to be an intense action thriller. As reported by us earlier, Kunchacko Boban and Arvind Swamy are teaming up for a Tamil-Malayalam film to be directed by Fellini TP of ‘Theevandi’ fame. The Malayalam version has been titled as ‘Ottu’ and the Tamil version, ‘Rendagam’. Recently, on Vishu day, the makers unveiled the first look poster. Arvind Swamy is seen in salt and pepper look in the poster while Kunchacko Boban sports a stylish bearded getup.

‘Ottu’ scripted by by S Sanjeev is said to be a thriller. Since it is a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual, actors from both the languages are part of the cast. Telugu actress Eesha Rebba has been signed as the female lead. She is noted for her roles in films like ‘Awe’ and ‘Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava’.

‘Rendagam’, the Tamil version has Sasikumaran as the co-writer and director. On the technical front, the film has music by AH Kaashif, nephew of maestro AR Rahman. Vijay is the cinematographer and edits are handled by Appu N Bhattathiri. The film is produced by Tamil star Arya’s banner Arya’s The Show People and August Cinema headed by Shaji Nadesan.

Over Speedil: Here’s the success song of Chathur Mukham

‘Chathur Mukham’ starring Manju Warrier and Sunny Wayne is running successfully in theatres. The film directed jointly by Ranjeet Kamala Sankar and Salil V has turned out to be a box office hit already. Popular playback singer Vidhu Prathap along with Midhun Ashokan has composed a success song, which is dedicated to to team ‘Chathur Mukham’ and Manju Warrier. Vidhu has also lent his vocals for the song. Lyrics are penned by Vinayak Sasikumar and rap portions are sung by Indulekha Warrier.

‘Chathur Mukham’ is a horror thriller that has a lot of freshness unlike what we are usually used to seeing in Malayalam cinema. It is a techno-horror thriller, a first of its kind attempt in Malayalam. The film tries to achieve the concept of solving something that’s beyond science using science. Anil Kumar and Abhaya Kumar have jointly penned the script.

‘Chathur Mukham’ had recently released in UAE and GCC region. The film is out in major centres in Dubai, Ajman, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ras Al Khaimah, Ummal Quwain, Fujairah and Oman. The positive response that the film garnered back home is proving to be beneficial during its overseas run.

Prithviraj-Shaji Kailas film Kaduva starts rolling today

Prithviraj Sukumaran’s much talked about film ‘Kaduva’ has gone on floors today. Veteran director Shaji Kailas is making a comeback with this film, which is planned as an action-packed mass entertainer. Prithviraj Productions and Listin Stephen’s Magic Frames are jointly producing the film.

‘Kaduva’ has been in the news ever since a legal battle ensued with the makers of another film that had Suresh Gopi as the lead. Jinu V Abraham, the scenarist of ‘Kaduva’ had approached the court alleging that there were similarities between the two films. Both the films were originally inspired from the real-life story of Kurivanakunnel Kuruvachan, a planter-based in Pala. Following Jinu’s complaint, Kerala high court ordered a stay on the shoot and promotional activities of the Suresh Gopi starrer. The project was later revamped with a new script and got titled as ‘Ottakomban’.

‘Kaduva’, meanwhile, also has some minor changes. The makers had initially signed Ravi K Chandran as the cinematographer and Thaman as the music director. However, they both have now been replaced. Jakes Bejoy will be handling the music department and camera will be cranked by Abinandhan Ramanujam.
