Nazarethin: Here’s a new song from The Priest

As ‘The Priest’ continues its successful theatrical run, the makers have released a new song video online. The song titled ‘Nazarethin’ is more like a Christian prayer. Rahul Raj has composed the song with lyrics penned by BK Harinarayanan. Vocals are lent by Baby Niya Charly, Merin Gregory and Crossroads Acapella band.

‘The Priest’ directed by debutant Jofin T Chacko is a mystery-thriller with supernatural elements in it. Mammootty plays a priest named Father Carmen Benedict, who assists the police in solving crimes. He is also into parapsychology. The film is centred around his encounter with a mysterious girl named Ameya. ‘Kaithi’ fame Baby Monica plays the kid’s role while Nikhila Vimal and Manju Warrier also essay important roles.

‘The Priest’ has had an excellent opening at the box office. Weekend shows in most theatres are showing high occupancy. It is a clear indication that the common audience, mainly comprising of families, are returning back to theatres after a long gap caused due to the pandemic. It is the first major release in Malayalam after over a year and theatre owners are mostly pleased with the film’s performance so far.

Mammootty’s ‘The Priest’ has taken a fabulous opening at the box office. The film already had massive pre-release hype and it has reflected on the collections. Though the makers are yet to reveal the exact numbers, it is said to have fared better than what was expected. Many from within the industry have thanked Mammootty and the film’s makers for reviving theatre business in the state.

Recently, filmmaker Vysakh took to his social media handle to congratulate the makers for the success. He also added that the success of ‘The Priest’ has breathed new life to Malayalam industry in general. The director also hoped that theatres will continue to have such a festive atmosphere and wished luck for the films that are gearing up for release.

‘The Priest’ directed by debutant Jofin T Chacko is a mystery thriller with supernatural elements in it. While Mammootty plays the titular role, ‘Kaithi’ fame Baby Monica, Nikhila Vimal and Manju Warrier essay other important roles.

Jofin has written the film’s story and screenplay is penned by ‘Kunjiramayanam’ fame Deepu Pradeep and Shyam Menon. It is a technically superior film with top-notch cinematography by Akhil George and thrilling background score by Rahul Raj.

The film is being jointly produced by Anto Joseph, B Unnikrishnan and VN Babu

Salman Khan confirms Radhe release date

Salman Khan is continuing the ritual of Eid release as his new ‘Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai’ has been slated to hit screens on May 13. The superstar shared a poster in his Twitter handle and announced the release date. The film will have a grand 4-day extended opening weekend and is expected to have a massive start at the box office.

‘Radhe’ is the spin-off the lead character from Salman’s 2009-released blockbuster film, ‘Wanted’. Prabhu Deva, who directed that film, is helming the new film as well. It has been planned as an action-packed cop flick that follows the lead character Radhe’s mission as an undercover cop.

The film has Disha Patani as the female lead. Jackie Shroff and Randeep Hooda will also be seen in major roles. It is co-produced by Salman Khan, Sohail Khan and Atul Agnihotri under the banners Salman Khan Films, Sohail Khan Productions and Reel Life Productions Private Limited respectively.

Sai Pallavi is one of the leading heroines in South Indian cinema today. The pretty actress has multiple projects lined up with top stars in Tamil and Telugu. After carving a nicher for herself, Pallavi’s sister Pooja Kannan is now set to make her acting debut. She will be seen playing the lead role in stunt choreographer Stunt Silva’s directorial debut.

Director AL Vijay is scripting the film, which is yet to be titled. It is worth a mention that Sai Pallavi has worked with Vijay before in the Tamil-Telugu bilingual ‘Diya’. Pooja had also worked as an assistant to Vijay. That rapport must have paved way for Pooja’s debut film.

Stunt Silva is a renowned action choreographer who has worked in several superstar films. It will be interesting to see what he genre he attempts with his maiden film as a director. He along with Samuthirakani and Stunt Silva will bs seen playing important roles in the film.

We wrapped my portions for ‘Hridayam’ yesterday.

A lot of people don’t know this but what made me want to be a part of cinema growing up , wasn’t really the glamorous life that most people associate with the industry. My vacations were mostly visiting dad on sets.. and I never saw a man that happy… he was constantly joking and laughing around with his best friends. They were the happiest people… It was in those moments watching him work that I formed this dream about being in cinema… I wanted to grow up and have this kind of life.

The last two months, I got the chance to actually live out that exact dream of working like how acha did… with people who felt almost like family.

It’s been some of the happiest days of my life. I’m going to miss to every. single. person. on set.

According to Vineeth Sreenivasan, ‘Hridayam’ is about a group of individuals and their life journey. Vineeth has taken real-life inspirations to script this film. Pranav, Kalyani and Darshana Rajendran play the central characters. Aju Varghese, Vijayaraghavan, Arun Kurian and several newcomers are part of the cast.

Hesham Abdul Wahab is the music director and cinematography is by Viswajith Odukkathil. The film is produced jointly by Merryland Productions and Big Bang Entertainments

The second look poster of Dulquer Salmaan’s ‘Salute’ has been shared online. The star plays a character named Aravind Karunakaran in the film. Directed by Rosshan Andrrews, it is a cop flick that has Dulquer playing a full fledged police role for the first time in his career.

‘Salute’ scripted by Bobby-Sanjay is said to be an investigative thriller. Expectations are high as the writer duo’s previous cop film with director Rosshan Andrrews, ‘Mumbai Police’, is considered as one of the best thrillers made in Malayalam cinema till date.

In the technical side, Aslam K Purayil handles the camera and veteran Sreekar Prasad is in charge of editing. The makers have also signed Santhosh Narayanan, one of Tamil cinema’s most popular composers, to handle the music department.

‘Wild Dog’ is an upcoming Telugu action thriller film written and directed by debutant Ashishor Solomon. The film has Nagarjuna in the lead role of Vijay Varma, a daredevil commando of the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Dia Mirza, ‘Choked’ fame Saiyami Kher, Atul Kulkarni and Ali Reza will be seen in important roles. Its trailer has just been released online.

David Ismalone, who had worked in famous action films like ‘Fast & Furious 7’, ‘A Man Will Rise’ and ‘Ong-Bak: Muay Thai Warrior’, has choreographed the stunt sequences for ‘Wild Dog’. The film is said to be inspired from various real life operations undertaken by the NIA commandos.

Hitting screens last day, Mammootty’s ‘The Priest’ has taken a great opening at the box office. The makers have confirmed that the numbers have exceeded their expectations. Since it is the first major Malayalam film to release post pandemic, the hype was huge and going by the initial response, the film seems to have lived up to the expectations.

Farhan Akhtar’s new film ‘Toofan’ is gearing up for a direct release on Amazon Prime Video. It is directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra of ‘Rang De Basanti’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’ fame. The film’s teaser has just dropped in online. Farhan plays Ajju bhai, a goon who transforms into a boxer with the help of his coach and girlfriend. Mrunal Thakur is paired with Farhan in the film while Paresh Rawal essays the coach’s role. Supriya Pathak Kapur, Hussain Dalal, Mohan Agashe and Darshan Kumaar are part of the supporting cast.

Farhan Akhtar had been working tirelessly for the last couple of years for ‘Toofan’. He had put in a lot of efforts to develop a strong and ripped physique to play the boxer’s role. Ritesh Sidhwani, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Farhan Akhtar are jointly producing the film.

Anjum Rajabali has scripted the film with additional screenplay and dialogue by Vijay Maurya. The trio of Shankar Ehsaan Loy is handling the music department. Meghna Manchanda Sen is the editor and cinematography is by Jay Oza. The film is scheduled for its world premiere on May 21, 2021.

As announced earlier, Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan are teaming up for ‘Adipurush’, a multilingual mega-budget film. Directed by ‘Tanhaji’ fame Om Raut, it is the big screen adaptation of Indian epic, Ramayana. While Prabhas plays the role of Lord Ram, Saif Ali Khan essays the antagonist role named as Lankesh, which is actually Raavan from the mythological epic.

Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh have joined the film’s cast. It is said that Kriti Sanon has been roped in to essay Sita’s role and Sunny Singh is said to be cast in the role of Lakshmana in the film. Prabhas took to his social media handle to welcome them by sharing photos taken with them at the sets. Expectations on ‘Adipurush’ are massive as the film brings together two big stars like Prabhas and Saif Ali Khan for the first time.

Om Raut’s previous film ‘Tanhaji’, starring Saif and Ajay Devgn was a huge commercial blockbuster. So the director is expected to deliver a bigger success this time. ‘Adipurush’ is planned be made completely in 3D format. It will be shot simultaneously in Hindi and Telugu. It will also dubbed and released in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada languages.T Series and Retrophiles production are jointly producing it. The makers have announced that the film will release worldwide on August 11, 2022
