‘Drishyam 2’ is getting loved not just by the Malayali audience but by people outside Kerala also. Thanks to its direct release in Amazon Prime Video, film lovers across the world are able to watch and enjoy the film with English subtitles. Non-Malayalis in social medias have been heaping praising on the film.

Recently, Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin took to his Twitter handle to share how much he enjoyed watching the film. He also recommended people to start watching all over from the first part of ‘Drishyam’.

Ashwin has tweeted,

Talks for ‘Drishyam 2’ remake in multiple languages have already begun. Director Jeethu Joseph has confirmed that he will be helming the Telugu version. Venkatesh, who played the lead in the remake of the first part, will be reprising his role. Shoot is scheduled to begin in March. Ajay Devgn and Tabu are expected to return for the Hindi version.

Here’s the first look of Malayalam anthology film Aanum Pennum; Release date announced

Directors Aashiq Abu, Venu and Jay K are coming together for a new Malayalam anthology film titled ‘Aanum Pennum’. Its first look poster has been released online. The makers have also announced that the film will be hitting screens on March 26.

In ‘Aanum Pennum’, Venu’s segment is the adaptation of Sahitya Akademi Award winning writer Uroob’s popular short story ‘Rachiyamma’. Parvathy and Asif Ali are playing the leads in it. Venu himself had penned the script and done the cinematography. Editing is done by his wife Beena Paul.

Aashiq Abu’s film starring Roshan Mathew and Darshana Rajendran is scripted by Unni R. Cinematographer Shyju Khalid, editor Saiju Surendran and composer Bijibal are part of its technical team.

‘Ezra’ fame Jay K’s film has Samyuktha Menon and Joju George as the leads. Scripted by Santhosh Echikkanam, film is set in the 50s. Rajeev Ravi is releasing the film in Kerala.

Kalyani Priyadarshan to be paired with Tovino Thomas in Thallumala

As reported by us earlier, Tovino Thomas is teaming up with director Khalid Rahman for a film titled ‘Thallumala’. Ashiq Usman, who last produced Khalid’s ‘Love’ is backing this film as well. As per latest reports, the makers have got Kalyani Priyadarshan to play the female lead. If it is true, it will be her fourth film in Malayalam after ‘Varane Avashyamund’, ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ and ‘Hridayam’.

‘Thallumala’ was first announced with Tovino and Soubin Shahir as the leads. Muhsin Parari was supposed to direct the film with Aashiq Abu and Rima Kallingal producing it under the banner of OPM Pictures. But the project later changed hands and producer Ashiq Usman took it up.

Soubin Shahir has opted out and has been replaced by Sharafudheen. Muhsin Parari is still associated with the film as a scenarist. Ashraf Hamza, the director of ‘Thamaasha’, has joined Muhsin in penning the screenplay. The makers had recently released a casting call looking for Malabar based actors.

An official update with full details regarding the cast, crew and when shoot begins are awaited.

The teaser of Dhanush’s hugely hyped film ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ has been released online. It is a power-packed teaser that has the star in full energy. He plays Suruli, a thug based in Madurai who later becomes a gangster in London. The teaser comes with the much popular ‘Rakita Rakita’ song in the background and it makes it even more enjoyable.

‘Jagame Thandhiram’ is written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj. Expectations are high as the actor-director duo are teaming up for the first time. It is a gangster flick in which Dhanush appears in two different looks. Aishwarya Lekshmi and ‘Game Over’ fame Sanchana Natarajan will be seen as the two female leads.

Hollywood actor James Cosmo, who has starred in films like ‘Braveheart’, ‘Troy’ and the popular TV series ‘Game of Thrones’, is essaying a crucial role in the film. Malayali actor Joju George and ‘Madras’ fame Kalaiyarasan are also part of the supporting cast.

Much to disappointment of Dhanush’s fans and a section of cinephiles, ‘Jagame Thandhiram’ is getting directly released in Netflix. It is the biggest of all Tamil Direct OTT releases till date. Dhanush had pinned high hopes on the film and he was disappointed in not getting a theatre release. Barroz to begin in March; Pre-production works progressing

After being delayed for over a year due to the pandemic, Mohanlal’s directorial debut ‘Barroz’ is finally set to begin in March. Final set of pre-production works are currently underway. Antony Perumbavoor, who is producing the film under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas, has shared photos from the pre-production and discussion sessions.

‘Barroz’ is a highly ambitious fantasy film planned to be shot completely in 3D format. Jijo Punnoose, the visionary filmmaker who made India’s first 3D film ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’, is scripting the film. Santosh Sivan will be handling the camera.

‘Barroz’ is set against the backdrop of the maritime history of Portugal, Spain, India and Africa. It is the story of Barroz, a mythical figure who was the gaurdian of Vasco da Gama’s valuable treasures for 400 years until his true heir comes back to protect it.

Mohanlal will be playing the titular role and the supporting cast mostly comprises of foreign actors from US, Spain, Portugal and Ghana. Prathap Pothan is the only Malayalam actor who has been confirmed so far in the cast. Prithviraj, in a recent Facebook post, had hinted that he might also be part of the film, but a confirmation is still awaited.

Telugu actress Anasuya Bharadwaj to make her Malayalam debut with Bheeshma Parvam

Mammootty’s new film ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ directed by Amal Neerad film went on floors today in Ezhupunna. Nazriya and Amal Neerad’s wife Jyothirmayi did the first clap. Scripted jointly by Amal and newcomer Devadath Shaji, it is said to be a gangster flick. Soubin Shahir, Shine Tom Chacko, Sreenath Bhasi, Maala Parvathy and Lena are part of the cast.

Telugu actress Anasuya Bharadwaj, noted for her roles in films like ‘Kshanam’ and ‘Rangasthalam’, is making her Malayalam debut with ‘Bheeshma Parvam’. Though details regarding her character is not yet known, it is said to be a prominent one. It is actually her second outing with Mammootty after sharing screen space with him in the Telugu film, ‘Yatra’.

‘Bheeshma Parvam’ is Mammootty’s first film to go begin shooting post the lockdown. Expectations are huge as the megastar is teaming up with Amal Neerad after a gap of 14 long years. They were supposed to start works on ‘Bilal’, the sequel to ‘Big B’, but it got delayed to the pandemic. It is expected to revived after the completion of ‘Bheeshma Parvam’.

The storyline of ‘Drishyam 2’ is set six years apart from where the first part ended. The narrative once again revolves around Georgekutty and family. The cops are still investigating the murder case against them. Whether they manage to find evidence and arrest the family forms the plot.

Dulquer Salmaan’s new film with director Rosshan Andrrews is currently progressing. Said to be a cop thriller, the film is scripted by Bobby-Sanjay. Bollywood actress Diana Penty of ‘Cocktail’ fame has been signed as the female lead. It is her debut outing in Malayalam. Manoj K Jayan and Lakshmi Gopalaswamy will also be seen in important roles.

Latest to join the cast is Saniya Iyappan, noted for her roles in ‘Queen’ and ‘Lucifer’. She has already started shooting for her portions, which are currently being shot in Thiruvananthapuram. It was director Rosshan Andrrews’ wedding anniversary last day. Saniya, Lakshmi Gopalaswamy and some other crew members got together to wish the couple.

Sharing a photo with Saniya in her social media handle, Lakshmi captioned it as,

“And with Insta sensation Saniya Iyappan who fondly listens and laughs at my Malayalam”.

Dulquer himself is producing this yet-to-be titled film under his banner Wayfarer Films.

‘Chathur Mukham’ is an upcoming film starring Manju Warrier and Sunny Wayne as the leads. The film is directed by Ranjeet Kamala Sankar and Salil V. Its motion poster has just been released through Dulquer Salmaan’s social media handle. According to the makers, it is a techno-horror thriller, which is the first of its kind in Malayalam. It is being produced by Jiss Thomas and Justin Thomas under the banner of Jiss Toms Movies.

Sunny Wayne and Manju Warrier will be seen as business partners in the film. Manju Warrier’s character was Sunny’s senior in college. They later own a CCTV business based in Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Niranjana Anoop and Alencier Ley Lopez will also be seen in major roles in the film.

‘Chathur Mukham’ is jointly scripted by Anil Kurian and Abhayakumar. Abinandan Ramanujam of ‘Amen’ fame is the cinematographer. Manoj is in charge of the edits and Dawn Vincent is handling the music department as well as sound design.
