Mammootty-Amal Neerad film Bheeshma Parvam starts rolling

Shoot for the recently announced Mammootty-Amal Neerad film ‘Bheeshma Parvam’ has commenced today (February 21). Nazriya and Amal Neerad’s wife Jyothirmayi did the first clap. The director himself is producing the film under his banner, Amal Neerad Productions.

‘Bheeshma Parvam’ is scripted by newcomer Devadath Shaji along with Amal Neerad. Ravishankar PT is credited with additional screenplay and RJ Murugan for additional dialogues. Though the makers are yet to confirm, it is said to be a gangster flick. Its cast comprises of actors like Soubin Shahir, Shine Tom Chacko, Sreenath Bhasi, ‘Rangasthalam’ fame Anasuya, Maala Parvathy and Lena.

Recently, Amal Neerad had introduced the film’s crew members through his social media handle. Anend C Chandran of ‘Neram’, ‘Premam’ and ‘Helen’ fame will be cranking the camera. Music is by Sushin Shyam and edits will be handled by Vivek Harshan. Costume designer Sameera Saneesh, sound designer Tapas Nayak, stunt director Supreme Sundar, production designer Sunil Babu, makeup artist Ronex Xavier and production sound mixer Ajeesh Omanakuttan are part of the crew.

Drishyam 2 Telugu remake announced; Shoot to begin in March

Right after the tremendous opening reception for ‘Drishyam 2’, talks about remakes in multiple languages had begun. Director Jeethu Joseph has now confirmed that he will be helming the Telugu version. Venkatesh, who played the lead in the remake of the first part of ‘Drishyam’, will be reprising his role. Meena, Esther Anil and Nadhiya, who essayed major roles in the first part are expected to return in the sequel as well. Shoot is scheduled to begin in March.

‘Drishyam 2’ is set six years apart from the first part. The core plot once again revolves around Georgekutty and family. The cops are still investigating the murder case against them. Whether they manage to find evidence and arrest the family forms the rest of the plot.

The film has opened to unanimously positive reviews. Since it got released directly on Amazon Prime Video, several non-Malayali audience have already watched the film. So it will be interesting to see if the remake versions will have alternate climaxes.

‘Drishyam 2’ is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video and the film has opened to extraordinary response. Since the first part was a massive blockbuster, there were doubts about how well the second part would turn out. But the makers have managed to come up with what could be called as a fitting finale.

Ace filmmaker Priyadarshan feels the same as he has written that ‘Drishyam 2’ is one of the best sequels he has ever seen. His Facebook post reads,

Earlier, celebs like Prithviraj,Vineeth Sreenivasan, B Unnikrishnan, Ajai Vasudev, Kailas Menon, Unni Mukundan, Aashiq Abu and many others showered praise on ‘Drishyam 2′ and the team. Jeethu Joseph has directed the film that has Mohanlal reprising his role of Georgekutty. The story once again revolves around the missing case of Varun Prabhakar and how the family is still under the cops’ scanner.

Jeethu’s brilliant writing coupled with an effortlessly subtle performance by Mohanlal works in the film’s favour. After the stupendous opening, talks are on regarding the remakes in other languages.

Atrangi Re starring Dhanush, Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan gets a release date

‘Atrangi Re’, the upcoming Hindi film starring Dhanush, Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan as the leads has finally got a release date. The makers have announced that the film will be hitting screens on August 6, 2021.

Aanand L Rai, who launched Dhanush actor in Bollywood with ‘Raanjhanaa’, is helming this film as well. Dhanush has already finished shooting for his portions. He is said to be playing a Tamilian’s role in the film. Apart from playing one of the leads, the star has also sung a track under AR Rahman’s composition.

‘Atrangi Re’ is scripted by National award winner Himanshu Sharma. Pankaj Kumar is the cinematographer and Hemal Kothari handles the edits. T-Series, Colour Yellow Productions and Cape of Good Films are jointly producing the film. The makers had originally planned to release the film this month on Valentine’s Day but they could not complete shoot in time due to the pandemic.

‘Operation Java’ continues its good run as the film has successfully entered the second week. More screens have been added thanks to the positive word of mouth among the general public. Words of praise from celebrities have also helped a great deal in publicising the film.

Recently, Vineeth Sreenivasan took to social media to congratulate the makers after being highly impressed by the film. He particularly appreciated editor Nishad Yousef’s work by rating ‘Operation Java’ as the most beautifully edited Malayalam film he has seen in recent times. Vineeth also added that director Tharun Moorthy and team can he can be proud of the film and that they are capable of making many such remarkable films. It is worth a mention that Vineeth had pinned high hopes on the film right after its trailer got released. His post reads,

‘Operation Java’ is an investigative film about cyber crimes. The film has an elaborate cast that includes Balu Varghese, Lukman, Vinayakan, Irshad, Shine Tom Chacko, Binu Pappu, Dhanya Ananya, Mamitha Baiju, Vineetha Koshy, Johny Antony and Prashanth Alexander. Cinematographer Faiz Siddik, music director Jakes Bejoy and editor Nishad Yousef comprise the core technical crew.

Indrajith joins the cast of Vishnu Vishal’s Mohandas

Vishnu Vishal’s upcoming film ‘Mohandas’ has got a new addition to the cast in the form of Malayalam actor Indrajith Sukumaran. Vishnu welcomed Indrajith to the team by tweeting,

Super happy to have the one and only @Indrajith_S onboard #Mohandas ? Your presence will definitely make our film a lot more special sir ?

Indrajith has previously acted in Tamil films like ‘En Mana Vaanil’ and ‘Sarvam’. He had also done a web series recently titled ‘Queen’, in which he essayed the role of MGR. Indrajith is also part of Karthick Naren’s long delayed thriller film ‘Naragasooran’.

‘Mohandas’ is written and directed by Murali Karthick. During its announcement, the makers had released a teaser, which hinted a revenge thriller. Vishnu has undergone a transformation of sorts for the film as he sports a chiselled physique. He is producing the film under his own banner. Aishwarya Rajesh has been signed as the female lead.

The youngster is noted for his work in films like ‘Neram’, ‘Premam’, ‘Aanandam’ and ‘Helen’. Amal Neerad films are usually known for their visual richness and stylishness. It will be interesting to see how his collaboration with Anend works.

Veteran filmmaker TK Rajeev Kumar’s next film will have Shane Nigam as the lead. Sooraj CK, Biju CJ and Badusha NM are jointly producing the film under the banner of 24 Frames. Shane, who has been away from films for over a year now, will be hoping to make a strong comeback.

This yet-to-be titled film is scripted by Krishnadas Panki. Sudeep Elamon of ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ and ‘Finals’ fame will be cranking the camera. Multiple National award winner Sreekar Prasad is the editor and music department will be handled by Pandit Ramesh Narayan. Sound designer Ajith Abraham, visuaall designer Muhammed Razi, costume designer Sameer Saneesh, production designer Rajeev Kovilakam and makeup artist Amal are also part of the technical crew.

TK Rajeev Kumar is also set to co-direct an ambitious muli-starrer film along with Priyadarshan. Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas is producing this Twenty 20-like film which has around 140 artists from Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). TK Rajeev Kumar is scripting the film, which is a crime thriller.

Social medias are abuzz with positive reviews and opinion pieces. Many have appreciated director Jeethu Joseph and Mohanlal for their daring decision to make a fitting sequel. The latter is thrilled with the response that the film has been getting. He took to his social media handle to express his gratitude to fans, the whole team of ‘Drishyam 2’ and the streaming platform, Amazon Prime.

Mohanlal’s much-hyped directorial debut ‘Barroz’ is set to begin by April. It is a highly ambitious film that is planned to be made entirely in 3D format. Shoot was supposed to begin last year but had to be postponed due to the pandemic. With the situation getting slightly better, the makers have decided to begin works.

‘Barroz’ scripted by Jijo Punnoose is a fantasy film set against the backdrop of the maritime history of Portugal, Spain, India and Africa. It is the story of Barroz, a mythical figure who was the gaurdian of Vasco da Gama’s valuable treasures for 400 years until his true heir comes back to protect it. Mohanlal plays the titular role and the supporting cast mostly comprises of foreign actors from US, Spain, Portugal and Ghana.

Interestingly, actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has hinted that he is also part of ‘Barroz’. In a recent Facebook post praising ‘Drishyam 2’, Prithviraj has written that he cannot wait to be directed by Mohanlal. Following this, there have been several reports suggesting that Prithviraj has been roped in to play an important role in the film. If it is true, it will be Mohanlal and Prithviraj’s second outing together after ‘Lucifer’.
