AR Rahman to compose music for Simbu’s next with Gautham Menon

Recently, it was announced that Simbu would be teaming up with director Gautham Menon for a new film. The project, which has tentatively been titled as ‘Silambarasan TR 47’, is produced by Dr Ishari K Ganesh of Vels International. The makers have got AR Rahman to compose music for this film.

The trio of Gautham Menon, Simbu and AR Rahman have earlier worked together in ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’ and ‘Achcham Yenbathu Madamaiyada’. The maestro’s music in both these films were hugely successful and they will hoping to continue the magic again.

During the announcement, Gautham Menon had tweeted that it is a special project and it feels like homecoming to work with Simbu. Last day, he tweeted,

Drishyam 2 post-production completed and all set for release!

Mohanlal’s much-hyped film ‘Drishyam 2’ is gearing up for its premiere on Amazon Prime Video. Director Jeethu Joseph has informed that all post-production works have been completed and then film is now all set for release. Though reports suggest that the film will be out on February 15, the makers are yet to announce it officially.

‘Drishyam 2’ is the sequel to the record-breaking blockbuster, ‘Drishyam’, that got released in 2013. The focus is once again on Georgekutty and family, who are still feeling the guilt of having committed the crime. As per Jeethu Joseph, the sequel will be an intense emotional drama.

Murali Gopy, Ganesh Kumar, Sai Kumar and Anjali Nair are the some of the new additions to the cast. Antony Perumbavoor is producing the film under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Dulquer Salmaan’s new film with director Rosshan Andrrews was launched today in Kollam. Scripted by Bobby-Sanjay, it is a cop film that will have Dulquer playing a full-fledged police role for the first time in his career. The star himself is producing the film under his banner Wayfarer Films. Along with him, the cast also includes Manoj K Jayan and Bollywood actress ‘Diana Penty’.

Dulquer has shared photos of the launch in his social media handle. He has also written,

I get to join hands with the super talented Rosshan Andrrews and the dynamic writing team of Bobby-Sanjay. Gokul Suresh’s new film ‘Gaganachari’ kick-started today with a customary switch on ceremony. The film is directed by Arun Chandu and produced by Vinayaka Films. Anarkali Marikar plays the female lead. Aju Varghese and Ganesh Kumar will also be seen important roles in it.

Earlier in the day, Gokul Suresh took to his social media handle to share his excitement in beginning a new project. He has written,

‘Gaganachari’ is actually Arun Chandu’s third directorial venture. His debut film ‘Sayanna Varthakal’ has Gokul Suresh and Dhyan Sreenivasan playing the lead roles. The film has been delayed for over two years now and there is still no updates regarding its release. Arun then made ‘Saajan Bakery Since 1962’ with Aju Varghese and Lena. The film is now gearing up for theatrical release on February 12.

After the trailer release, expectations have spiked up for ‘Operation Java’, which is scheduled to hit screens on February 12. The makers had shared the film’s trailer recently and it met with excellent response online. Actor-filmmkaer Vineeth Sreenivasan seems to have really loved the trailer. He has written on his Facebook page,

‘Operation Java’ is written and directed by debutant Tharun Moorthy. The film has an elaborate star cast comprising of Vinayakan, Lukman, Irshad, Balu Varghese, Shine Tom Chacko, Binu Pappu, Dhanya Ananya, Mamitha Baiju, Vineetha Koshy, Johny Antony and Prashanth Alexander among others.

From the 2.30-minute long trailer, we can make out that this is an investigative film based on various cyber crimes we happen to see around us. The makers have done a lot of research to gather information about cyber crimes and how the Kerala Police’s cyber department works.

‘Operation Java’ has cinematography by Faiz Siddik, who has also cranked the camera for the upcoming films ‘Aanaparambile World Cup’, ‘The Wolf’ and ‘Adi’. Nishadh Yusuf handles the edits and music is by Jakes Bejoy. The film is produced by V Cinemas International.

Watch: Simbu’s Maanaadu teaser is intriguing

It is actor Simbu’s birthday today and on this special occasion, the makers of his much-anticipated film ‘Maanadu’ have released the teaser online. Besides the original Tamil version, the film is also getting released in Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam. Top celebs from each industry released the teaser through their social media handles. While acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Kashyap shared the Hindi teaser, Prithviraj Sukumaran released the Malayalam version. The Kannada and Telugu versions were shared by Kichcha Sudeep and Ravi Teja, respectively. ‘Maanaadu’ has been renamed as ‘Rewind’ in the other four languages.

Though ‘Maanaadu’ was initially thought to be a regular political thriller, it also seems to have an intriguing time-related concept in it. The film is written and directed by Venkat Prabhu. Kalyani Priyadrashan essays the female lead’s part while SJ Suryah does the antagonist’s role. Vijay’s father SA Chandrasekhar, Bharathiraja, his son Manoj Bharathi, Karunakaran and Premji Amaren will be seen essaying important roles.

Richard M Nathan is the cinematographer and Praveen KL handles the edits. Yuvan Shankar Raja is composing music for the film. It is being produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner of V House Productions.

Ace filmmaker Ranjith is coming up with a new project titled ‘Madhavi’. It is a 37-minute long film that has Namitha Pramod and veteran actress Sreelakshmi as the leads. A first look poster featuring the two actors have been shared by Ranjith in his social media handle. Apparently, the film was shot during the lockdown period with a small team. Ranjith’s own banner Captiol Theatre is backing the film along with Kappa Studios.

‘Madhavi’ is Namitha Pramod’s first work with Ranjith and the young actress is quite excited about it. Along with sharing the first look poster, she also wrote,

Release date announced for Sivakarthikeyan’s Doctor

Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Doctor’ was supposed to release last year but shoot got delayed due to the virus outbreak. The makers finally managed to wrap up the shoot recently. Post-production works are currently progressing at a brisk pace as they have announced that the film will be hitting screens on March 26.

‘Doctor’ is written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar of ‘Kolamaavu Kokila’ fame. Priyanka Arul Mohan, who shot to fame with the hit Telugu film ‘Gang Leader’, is making her Tamil debut with this film. Vinay and Yogi Babu will be also seen playing crucial roles.

Anirudh has composed music for ‘Doctor’. Thanks to the success of the first two singles — ‘Chellamma’ and ‘Nenjame’, the film grabbed managed to attention among the masses. Vijay Karthik Kannan of ‘Aadai’ fame is the cinematographer and R Nirmal is the editor.

Lead actor Sivakarthikeyan himself is producing the film under his own banner SK Productions. KJR Studios will be presenting it.

The teaser of Karthi’s new film ‘Sultan’ got released on Monday. From the teaser, it seems like a mass entertainer with loads of action in it. The film is directed by Bakkiyaraj Kannan of ‘Remo’ fame. Rashmika Mandanna, one of South Indian cinema’s most popular heroines today, is making her Tamil debut with this film.

‘Sultan’ was supposed to release much earlier but it got postponed due to the pandemic. As per the makers, it is an action-oriented family drama with a good dose of romance in it. The film’s cast includes ‘KGF’ fame Garuda Ram, Napoleon, Lal, Hareesh Peradi, Yogi Babu and Mansoor Ali Khan in important roles. Vivek-Mervin duo is composing the music and Ruben is handling the edits. Sathyan Sooryan is the cinematographer.

‘Sultan’ is being produced by SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures. The makers are eyeing for a theatrical release early next year.

Tamil filmmakers Gautham Vasudev Menon, Venkat Prabhu, AL Vijay and Nalan Kumarasamy are teaming up for a new anthology film titled ‘Kutti Story’. The film was shot during the lockdown days and it is now gearing up for theatrical release. Last day, the makers unveiled the first look poster online. Along with that, they also shared an interesting promo video in which the four directors narrate a particular romantic scene from their respective films.

‘Kutty Story’ stars Vijay Sethupathi, Aditi Balan, Amala Paul, Gautham Menon, Megha Akash, Vinoth Kishan, Sakshi Agarwal, Amitash, Sangita Krish and Varun. Nalan Kumarasamy’s segment has Aditi Balan and Vijay Sethupathi as a married couple. Gautham Menon himself is playing the lead in his segment along with Amala Paul. Amitash and Megha Akash are part of AL Vijay’s film while Venkat Prabhu’s film stars Varun and Sakshi Agarwal.

‘Kutti Story’ has cinematography by Manoj Paramahamsa, Arvind Krishna, Shanmugasundaram and Sakthi Saravanan. Music is composed by Karthik, Madhu, Edwin Louis Viswanath and Premgi. Anthony, Sreekar.Prasad and
