Lal-Jr Lal combo’s Tsunami promises to be full on fun and laughter

Lal and his son Lal Jr aka Jean Paul Lal are together directing a film for the first time. Titled as ‘Tsunami’, the film stars Aju Varghese, Balu Varghese, Mukesh, Innocent and many others as part of the cast Scripted by Lal, it is said to be based on a true story. He has promised that the film will be full on fun and laughter with no stress or tension.

‘Tsunami’ shoot started last February but got stalled briefly due to the pandemic. After waiting for nearly three months, the team decided to resume shoot. It was also the first Malayalam film to resume shoot during the lockdown. They shot with a minimal crew adhering to all protocols laid down by the government and managed to wrap up the remaining portions in quick time.

Alex J Pulickal is the DOP and Ratheesh Raj handles the edits. Neha and Yakzan Gary Pereira composes the music. Allan Antony is presenting the film under the banner named Panda Dad Production.

John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan to star in Ayyappanum Koshiyum Hindi remake

Last year’s superhit Malayalam film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ is still hot in the remake circles. The Telugu version starring Pawan Kalyan and Rana Daggubati is already underway. Tamil remake rights have also been sold but the lead cast is yet to be finalized. Meanwhile, reports have emerged that the film’s Hindi version will have John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan as the leads. There is still no confirmation regarding the same but if it turns out to be true, it will mark the ‘Dostana’ duo’s reunion after almost 13 years.

John Abraham’s production house JA Entertainment had bagged the Hindi remake rights of ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’. After acquiring the rights, John had tweeted,

Ayyappanum Koshiyum, a film that strikes a perfect balance between action, thrill and a good story. At JA Entertainment we are keen to bring such appealing stories to our audience..we hope to make a truly engaging film with this remake in Hindi. Really Excited !!!

‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’ directed by late Sachy is a dual hero film that revolves around the conflict between a soon-to-retire policeman and a retired havildar. It tells an intricately woven tale of revenge with some socio-political issues also addressed. Prithviraj and Biju Menon played the lead roles in the original.

It will be very interesting to see how the film gets adapated to different languages to suit the sensibilities of the native audience.

‘Uppena’ is an upcoming Telugu film written and directed by Bucchi Babu Sana, a former assistant of Sukumar. Debutants Panja Vaisshnav Tej and Krithi Shetty play the leads in this romantic drama. Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi is also essaying an important role. Its trailer has just been released online.

From the trailer, it looks like Vijay Sethupathi essays a gangster’s role. Krithi Shetty seems to be playing his daughter with whom Vaisshnav Tej’s character falls in love. Though the story seems outdated, the trailer does look promising. Malayali cinematographer Shamdat Sainudeen has cranked the camera. Music is by Devi Sri Prasad and edits are handled by Naveen Nooli.

One of Telugu industry’s leading filmmakers Sukumar has produced the film in collaboration with Naveen Yerenini and Y Ravi Shankar, under their respective banners Sukumar Writings and Mythri Movie Makers.

IV Sasi-Seema couple’s son Ani IV Sasi is making his directorial debut with a Tamil-Telugu bilingual. In Telugu, the film has been titled as ‘Ninnila Ninnila’ and in Tamil, it is ‘Theeni’. Nithya Menen, Ashok Selvan and Ritu Varma play the lead roles in the film. A new poster featuring the three actors has been released online. The makers have also announced that the trailer will be out on February 5 at 11 AM.

Ani started his journey in cinema by assisting Priyadarshan in films like ‘Geetanjali’, ‘Sila Samayangalil’. He was most recently part of ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’, in which he was credited for penning the epic film’s screenplay along with Priyadarshan.

Ani’s debut film ‘Ninnila Ninnila’ looks like a triangular love story. Divakar Mani, who was the DOP of films like ‘Ranarangam’ and ‘Keshava’, is handling the visuals. ‘Premam’ fame Rajesh Murugesan is the music director. BVSN Prasad ia producing the film.

Tamil stars Vishal and Arya are coming together for a new film directed by Anand Shankar. Titled as ‘Enemy’, the film is said to be a mass, action-packed entertainer. While Vishal plays the lead role, Arya essays the villain’s part. The latter’s look from the film has just been unveiled and he looks meancing in the poster.

Releasing the poster, Vishal tweeted,

My most favourite #ENEMY @arya_offl, I think I will not like you in this film but I love you in real life as always, but be ready to face me with all your power in this particular film. I’m not going to take friendship into stock for this particular film.

Arya and Vishal have earlier played the leads in ‘Avan Ivan’. They were also supposed to act together in ‘Irumbu Thirai’. Arya was initially cast as the antagonist in it but he later opted out as he felt it was not the right time to play a villain role. Later, veteran actor Arjun replaced him in the film.

With Vishal and Arya pitted against each other, ‘Enemy’ is expected to be high on action. Director Anand Shankar has previously helmed hit films like ‘Arima Nambi’ and ‘Irumugan’. His new film has Mirnalini Ravi of ‘Super Deluxe’ fame as the female lead. SS Thaman is handling the music department and cinematography is by RD Rajasekhar.

After the success of ‘Joseph’, Joju George has been getting several meaty projects. He will be next seen as a 75-year-old Alzheimer’s patient in ‘Jillam Peppare’. Joju plays a chenda artiste’s role in the film and the story traverses two phases of his life — from the ages of 35-40 and from 70-75. Needless to say, it is a performance oriented role and Joju is expected to deliver a fine act.

‘Jillam Peppare’ marks the directorial debut of Josh, who was former assistant to Major Ravi. The film is inspired from the real lives of many percussion artistes. The makers have tried to address the reception that each band of artists get. This film is about percussionists, their love for sound and their lives.

Apart from Joju George, the cast also includes Major Ravi, Shehin Siddique, singer Anju Brahmasmi, percussionist Attam Sarath, Sheetal Shyam and Raaga in important roles. Major Ravi is also producing the film along with Santhosh T Kuruvila. The former’s son Arjun Ravi cranks the camera and music is by Manikandan Ayyappa.

The trailer of upcoming Telugu film ‘Check’ got released online on Wednesday. The film is written and directed by National award winning filmmaker Chandra Sekhar Yeleti. From the trailer, this Nithiin-starrer looks an action thriller, major portions of which are set inside a prison. V Ananda Prasad is producing tje film and it will be presented by Bhavya Creations. It set for a theatrical release on theaters February 26.

‘Check’ has Rakul Preeth Singh and Priya Prakash Varrier as the female leads. While the former plays an advocate’s role, it looks like Priya plays the part of Nithiin’s romantic interest. Simran Choudary, Posani Krishna Murali, Sai Chand, Murali Sharma, Harsha Vardhan, Sampath Raj, Rohit Pathak, Virendra Chauhan, Chaitanya Krishna, Gururaj Manepalli, Raina Rao, Karthik Ratnam, Praveen Yendamuri, Krishna Teja, Aziz Nazar, C.V.L. Narasimha Rao and Meka Ramakrishna are part of the supporting cast.

‘Check’ has Rahul Shrivatsav as the cinematographer and Sanal Anirudhan as the editor. Kalyani Malik has composed the music. M Naresh Reddy has penned the additional screenplay and dialogues.

Vetrimaaran’s new film with Soori as the lead is all set to go on floors. Along with Soori, veteran filmmaker Bharathiraja was supposed to play an important role in it. However due to date issues, Bharathiraja has opted out of the project. Interestingly, Vijay Sethupathi has now replaced him. There are reports about Vijay Sethupathi essaying the part of Soori’s father, but the makers are yet to confirm it.

Last day, Ilaiyaraja began composing works on the film. The maestro has set up his own studio in Chennai after his recent fallout with a private studio where he had been composing music for over four decades. Vetrimaaran, Soori, Bharathiraja and Vijay Sethupathi were present for the first composing session.

Expectations are high on this film with Vijay Sethupathi joining the cast. Vetrimaaran had initially planned to cast him in an important role in ‘Vada Chennai’ but it didn’t work out and it was eventuality played by Ameer.

This upcoming film with Soori and Vijay Sethupathi is based on the short story ‘Thunaivan’ written by Jeyamohan. The story was first published in the magazine, Ananda Vikatan in 1992.

Dulquer Salmaan is celebrating his 9th year in the film industry. Social medias are abuzz with fan tributes for the star, who is fast establishing as a pan-Indian actor. Besides acting in multiple language, he is also focussing on production in Malayalam. His banner Wayfarer Films has produced films including ‘Varane Avashyamund’, ‘Maniyarayile Ashokan’ and the upcoming biggie ‘Kurup’. Last day, Dulquer announced their 6th film, ‘Upacharapoorvvam Gunda Jayan’. It is being made in association with My Dreams Entertainment.

‘Upacharapoorvvam Gunda Jayan’ is directed by debutant Arun Vaiga. Rajesh Varma has scripted the film, which promises to be a fun entertainer. The film’s star cast comprises of Saiju Kurup, Siju Wilson, Shabareesh Varma, Johny Antony, Sabu mon, Sudheer Karamana, Jaffer Idukki, Shani Shaki, Biju Sopanam, Vijilesh, Sagar Surya, Vrindha Menon, Parvathy, Nayana, Shailja, Radha Gomati, Uthara among others.

‘Upacharapoorvvam Gunda Jayan’ has cinematography by Eldho Issac, music by Bijibal and edits handled by Kiran Das.

Kurup makers release new poster on the 9th anniversary of Second Show!

It has been 9 years since Dulquer Salmaan made his acting debut with ‘Second Show’. The film also marked the arrival of some other talents like Sunny Wayne and director Srinath Rajendran. The same team is now reuniting for ‘Kurup’, a hugely hyped film that is being made as the biggest project in Dulquer’s career.

On the 9th anniversary of ‘Second Show’, the makers of ‘Kurup’ shared a new poster featuring Dulquer and Sunny Wayne. Interestingly, the poster is reminiscent to the one from ‘Second Show’ and it seems to be a cleverly designed one by the makers.

Sharing the poster, Dulquer wrote,

This day 9 years ago our film Second Show released in cinemas. It marked the debut of a whole lot of new comers including yours truly. Today I embarked on a new film. The jitters and fears are still present but time has helped turn that into something positive. This annual reminder from all of you helps keep the memories of how I began fresh and that in turn always makes me realise how I began and where I came from. For that and for your constant support and love, a huge thank you from the bottom of my heart.
