Kunju Kunjali song from Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham grabs attention

The first single from ‘Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham’ got released on Friday. Titled as ‘Kunju Kunjali’, the song is about an adorable mother-song bonding. While Pranav Mohanlal plays the younger part of Kunjali Marakkar, Suhasini Mani Ratnam essays his mother’s role. Fazil and Siddique also appear in the lyric video. KS Chithra has lent her voice for the song and it is composed by Ronnie Raphael. BK Harinarayanan has written the lyrics.

‘Marakkar’ is an epic historic film made on a whopping budget with top artists and technicians from across the country associated with it. Superstar Mohanlal plays the titular role in the film. Suniel Shetty, Arjun, Keerthy Suresh, Pranav Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Ashok Selvan, Prabhu, Mukesh and many others are part of the cast. Some foreign actors are also playing major roles in the film.

‘Marakkar’ was originally scheduled to hit screens in March 2020 but due to the pandemic outbreak worldwide, the release had to be postponed. Though the makers have announced March 26, 2021 as the new release date, there are reports about the film getting pushed to Onam in August.

Radhe Shyam teaser to be on Valentine’s Day

The makers of Prabhas-Pooja Hegde starrer ‘Radhe Shyam’ have announced that the film’s teaser will be out on February 14 as a Valentine’s Day special. Directed by Radha Krishna Kumar, the film is a period love story set in an European backdrop. Prabhas is usually known for his mass action flicks. It will be interesting to see him in a full-length romantic film.

Prabhas is said to be playing the role of a fortune teller in the film and Pooja Hegde is rumoured to essay the part of a princess. The supporting cast also includes Malayalam actor Jayaram, Sachin Khedekar, Bhagyashree, Sasga Chettri, Priyadarshi Pullikonda, Murli Sharma, Riddhi Kapoor, Sasha Chettri, Sathyan, Kunaal Roy Kapoor and many others.

Just like Prabhas’ recent films ‘Radhe Shyam’ will also have a pan-Indian release. It will be released simultaneously in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi languages. It is jointly produced by UV Creations and T-Series.

Aashirvad Cinemas to produce a Twenty 20-like film with 140 members of AMMA

Superstars Mohanlal and Mammootty inaugurated the new building of Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) on Saturday. The building located at Deshabhimani Road in Kochi is equipped with state of the art facilities including a 150-seat mini-theatre and exclusive cabins for script discussions. The five-storey building has special cabins for the office bearers and other staffs.

During the inauguration function, a surprise announcement was also made. Antony Perumbavoor of Aashirvad Cinemas is producing a Twenty 20-like film featuring around 140 artists from AMMA. Priyadarshan and TK Rajeev Kumar will be jointly directing the film, which is a crime thriller. The latter has also scripted the film.

The project is being made for the welfare of AMMA members. A first look poster was also unveiled at the function. Interestingly, the general public can suggest a suitable title for the film and a contest for the same will be announced soon.

The first look poster of upcoming Malayalam film ‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’ got released on Friday. Directed by Senna Hegde, the film has a bunch of newcomers in the lead roles. The first look poster features a family of six and it seems like the story revolves around their relationship dynamics. The poster has been shared by many celebs including Kannada stars Rakshit Shetty, Diganth Manchale, Bollywood actress Tilottama Shome, Nikhila Vimal etc.

Director Senna Hegde had previously made the hit Kannada rom-com ‘Katheyondu Shuruvagide’. He has also made an indie Malayalam film titled 0-41* that got screened at some international film festivals. ‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’ has also been selected for this year’s International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK). It is among the 12 films picked in the Malayalam Cinema Today section. Its premiere is scheduled to be held on February 10 at Kalabhavan theatre in Thiruvananthapuram.

‘Thinkalazhcha Nishchayam’ is scripted by Senna Hedge along with the film’s cinematographer Sreeraj Raveendran. Music is composed by Mujeeb Majeed and edits are done by Harilal K Rajeev. Vinayak Sasikumar and Nidheesh Nadery have penned the song lyrics. Nixon George is in charge of the sound design.

Vinod Divakar is the executive producer and the film is produced by Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah under the banner of Pushkar Films.

‘Padavettu’, written and directed by debutant Liju Krishna, is said to be a rustic entertainer set in Kannur. Nivin Pauly will be seen playing a very challenging character in the film. The second season of ‘The Family Man’ was scheduled to be out on Amazon Prime Video on February 12. However, the makers have decided to push its release further. As per reports, the backlash faced by Amazon’s recent shows, ‘Tandav’ and ‘Mirzapur’, has forced the makers to postpone the release. The streaming giant has released a statement announcing that the second season will be out only during this summer.

‘The Family Man’, directed by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, is centred around a middle-class man, secretly working for the TASC branch of National Investigation Agency. It is centred around the challenges he faces in his personal and professional life. Manoj Bajpayee plays the lead character in the series.

Malayalam actor Neeraj Madhav, Priya Mani, Sharib Hashmi, Shreya Dhanwanthary Kishore, Sundeep Kishan, Sharad Kelkar, Dinesh Prabhakar and Gul Panag were part of the first season’s cast. The second season has South Indian actress Samantha as the antagonist. It marks her debut in the web series arena and her performance is eagerly awaited by many.

‘The Family Man’ first season was a huge success that garnered positive reviews by the critics as well as the commoners. The makers will be hoping to continue the good run with the second season as well.

Pitta Kathalu: Trailer of Netflix’s first Telugu anthology film out

Streaming giant Netflix’s first Telugu original film ‘Pitta Kathalu’ is gearing up for release. It is a four-part anthology film directed by Tharun Bhascker, BV Nandini Reddy, Nag Ashwin and Sankalp Reddy. The film’s trailer has just been released online.

From the two-minute long trailer, we can make out that it is a female-oriented film with the lead roles played by Shruthi Haasan, Amala Paul, Eesha Rebba and Lakshmi Manchu. It is about the stories of four distinctly bold women, four journeys of love and betrayal. Netflix defines the film as,

“Four different women, four journeys of love and betrayal. The common thread? Their tenacity when it comes to challenging norms”.

Ashima Narwal, Jagapathi Babu, Satya Dev, Saanve Megghana and Sanjith Hegde are also part of the supporting cast. Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies and Ashi Dua Sara’s Flying Unicorn Entertainment are jointly producing the film. It is slated for premiere on 19 February.

As reported earlier, Ani IV Sasi is making his directorial debut with a Tamil-Telugu bilingual film. In Telugu, the film has been titled as ‘Ninnila Ninnila’ and in Tamil, it is ‘Theeni’. Nithya Menen, Ashok Selvan and Ritu Varma play the lead roles in the film. The makers have released the trailer online.

Ashok Selvan and Ritu Varma play chefs in the film, which looks like a quirky love story. Ashok Selvan is also seen in two different looks, one in which he appears oversized and sports a beard. Nasser is also essaying an important role in the film. From the trailer, it is evident that there is an overall freshness to the film.

On the technical side, Divakar Mani, who was the DOP of films like ‘Ranarangam’ and ‘Keshava’, is handling the visuals. ‘Premam’ fame Rajesh Murugesan is the music director. BVSN Prasad ia producing the film. It is scheduled for premiere on Zee Plex on February 26.

Drishyam 2 trailer release date announced

Mohanlal has informed that the film’s trailer will be out on February 8. Last day, director Jeethu Joseph had posted in his Facebook page that all post-production works have been completed. Though reports suggest that the film will be out on February 15, the makers are yet to confirm it. An official announcement is expected to be made alongside the trailer release.

‘Drishyam 2’ is the sequel to the record-breaking blockbuster, ‘Drishyam’, that got released in 2013. The story once again revolves around Georgekutty and family. As per Jeethu Joseph, the sequel will be a more intense emotional drama.

Mohanlal Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Siddique, Asha Sharath, Aneesh Menon and Esther Anil are reprising their roles from the first part. Murali Gopy, Ganesh Kumar, Sai Kumar and Anjali Nair are some of the new additions to the cast.

Antony Perumbavoor is producing the film under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Sivakarthikeyan is teaming up with debutant director Cibi Chakaravarthi for a youthful entertainer titled ‘Don’. From the announcement teaser, it looks like a college-based fun film. The star’s own banner Sivakarthikeyan Productions and Lyca Productions are jointly producing it.

‘Don’ will have Priyanka Arul Mohan as the female lead. The actress is popular for her impressive performance in the Telugu film ‘Gang Leader’. It must be noted that her debut Tamil film ‘Doctor’ is also with Sivakarthikeyan. She has also been signed for ‘Suriya 40’ directed by Pandiraj.

‘Don’ also stars SJ Suryah, Soori and Samuthirakani in important roles. Sivakarthikeyan’s frequent collaborator Anirudh Ravichander will be composing music for this film. Shoot is scheduled to begin this month itself.

Meanwhile, Sivakarthikeyan-Priyanka starrer ‘Doctor’ is gearing up to hit screens. Directed by ‘Kolamavu Kokila’ fame Nelson Dilipkumar, the film is reportedly based on organ trafficking that happens in different parts of the state. The makers are planning to release the film’s teaser on February 17, which happens to be the actor’s birthday. The film is slated to hit screens on March 26.
