Gautham Menon to make a military-based action thriller with Anushka Shetty

For the last few months, there have been reports about Gautham Menon teaming up with Anushka Shetty for a female-centric film. The director finally confirmed this in a recent interview. Interestingly, he is planning to make a military-based action thriller with Anushka. It is learnt that the actress will be performing a lot of stunts in the film.

Anushka is one of those very few top heroines from the South to have proven her skills in performing stunt sequences. She has done extensive action blocks in films like ‘Arundhati’, ‘Rudhramadevi’ and the ‘Baahubali’ series. So it will be exciting to see her back in action in Gautham Menon’s film. Dr Ishari K Ganesh will be producing the film under the banner of Vels Films International.

Anushka has been away from films for nearly two years now. Her last full-length appearance was in the Tamil-Telugu bilingual ‘Bhaagamathie’. She recently played a cameo role in the multi-starrer ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’. The actress is set to make her comeback with a Hollywood Crossover thriller film titled ‘Nishabdham’.

Shoot for Gautham Menon’s film is expected to begin by the end of the year after the director wraps up his other commitments. He is currently working on the Varun starrer ‘Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha’. There is also another schedule pending for his ambitious spy-thriller ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’.

‘Darbar’, written and directed by AR Murugadoss, is a mass action-thriller that has Rajinikanth in a police officer’s role. Nayanthara is paired opposite him and Nivetha Thomas will be seen as his daughter. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty is making his Tamil debut by playing the villain role.

The film produced by Lyca Productions is scheduled for a grand worldwide release on January 9. Since it hitting screens during the Pongal season, the film is certain to take a massive opening at the domestic box office.

Last year, he made ‘Unda’, an unusual cop film based on a real life incident. The Mammootty starrer got widespread acclaim and Khalid Rahman announced himself as a talent to watch out for.

Currently, there is a buzz going around in social medias that the director’s next film will be with Dileep. Gokulam Gopalan is said to be producing the film, but an official confirmation in this regard is still awaited. If such a project materializes, it will be interesting to see what genre Khalid attempts with Dileep.

It must also be noted that Khalid had earlier announced a film with Shane Nigam in the lead. It was supposed to be produced by Aashiq Usman and the makers had even released a casting call looking for female actors. As Shane is currently caught up with issues related to the film producer’s council, there is a possibility that Khalid has shelved the project and moved on. Anway, let’s wait for an official word.

Nithya Menen and Ashok Selvan star in Ani IV Sasi’s directorial debut

Celebrity kids making their way to film industry is not a new thing. In Malayalam, we already have the likes of Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil and Prithviraj Sukumaran ruling the roost. While most are into acting, some are into filmmaking as well like the Sreenivasan brothers and Sathyan Anthikad’s sons Anoop and Akhil Sathyan. Latest entrant to the club is Ani, the son of late IV Sasi.

Ani is making his directorial debut with a Tamil feature film starring Ashok Selvan and Nithya Menen in the leads. It is shot entirely in the UK and filming has already begun. Divakar Mani, who was the DOP of Telugu films like ‘Ranarangam’ and ‘Keshava’, is handling the visuals. Ani and Divakar have been close friends since they started together as assistants in the film industry.

Ani started his journey in cinema by assisting Priyadarshan in his films like ‘Geetanjali’, ‘Sila Samayangalil’ and most recently in ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’. The youngster is also credited for penning the epic film’s screenplay along with Priyadarshan.

Interestingly, Ashok Selvan, the lead actor in Ani’s debut film, was a part of ‘Sila Samayangalil’ and ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’. More details regarding the upcoming Ashok Selvan-Nithya Menen film are expected to be revealed in the coming days.

Last day, after the film got censored with an U/A certificate, the makers confirmed that the film will be hitting screens worldwide on January 9. Along with that, a new promo cut also got released online. Rajini is all about style and swag as he seems to have aced the badass cop’s role.

‘Darbar’, written and directed AR Murugadoss, is a cop action thriller set in Mumbai. Rajinikanth plays a top rank officer and his character is named as Aaditya Arunasalam. He is playing a cop’s role after over two decades and expectations are hence huge. Nayanthara is paired with Rajini and Niveth Thomas plays his daughter. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty plays the villain role. Prateik Babbar, Sriman, Yogi Babu, cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s Yograj Singh and many others are part of the cast.

Kannada star Rakshit Shetty’s new film ‘Avane Srimannarayana’ hit screens on December 27. The film also has also been released in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam languages. The Malayalam version ‘Avan Srimannarayana’ has released in Kerala today. Mulakuppadam Films have distributed the film here.

‘Avan Srimannarayana’ is a cop action flick set in the ’80s in Amaravati, a fictional town. The movie revolves around a missing loot. As a feudal lord dies, there emerges a long lasting clash between his step sons for the throne. In the midst of all this, lands a cop named Narayana who sets out to solve the mystery around the missing treasure. The rest of the plot is about how he succeeds in doing the same.

Director Sachin Ravi has conceived the film as an unusual fantasy-adventure drama. It is an intelligent film with a lot of puzzling action going on. Lead actor Rakshit Shetty, who has also written the story, holds the film together with a fabulous performance. He gets quite a few mass moments that will be celebrated by his fans. Supporting actors Balaji Manohar, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty and Shanvi Srivasatava have also done their parts well.

Multiple screenwriters – Rakshit Shetty, Chandrajith Belliappa, Abhijith Mahesh, Anirudh Kodg, Nagarjun Sharma and Abhilash – have collaborated to come up with a screenplay that engages despite the long run time. Massive production value is another major asset to the film as the film resembles a spaghetti western that gives a wide appeal.

Prithviraj reveals that only 25% of Aadujeevitham has been completed!

Director Blessy and Prithviraj Sukumaran have been working on their ambitious film ‘Aadujeevitham’ for over two years now. However, the star has revealed that only 25% of the film has been shot so far and they still have all the major portions left. He is currently on a three-month long break to reduce weight and undergo a major physical transformation.

The film is based on Benyamin’s award winning novel of the same name. It is the life story of an abused migrant worker, Najeeb Mohammed, who gets stranded in the middle of deserts in Saudi Arabi. The lone man undergoes different experiences from seclusion, emotional conflicts and survival struggles.

The makers had decided to shoot the film in various schedules as Prithviraj needs to be appearing in multiple looks. The actor is now on a strict diet to achieve a malnourished look. He is expected to reduce up to 30 kilos to play the part where Najeeb gets stranded in the desert.

World Famous Lover Teaser: Vijay Deverakonda as a passionate lover once again!

The teaser of Telugu film ‘World Famous Lover’ has been released online. The film stars Vijay Deverakonda in the lead, along with four heroines Raashi Khanna, Catherine Tresa, Izabelle Leite and Aishwarya Rajessh. Kranthi Madhav has written and directed the film, which is said to be an anthology romantic drama.

From the teaser, it looks like four different love stories with Vijay Deverakonda starring in all of them. Courtesy his performance in films like ‘Arjun Reddy’ and ‘Dear Comrade’, the actor has built an image of an angry young man and a passionate lover. ‘World Famous Lover’ also looks like a film on similar lines.

‘World Famous Lover’ is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on Valentine’s Day (February 14). Malayali Gopi Sunder is composing music for the film and cinematography is by Jaya Krishna Gummadi. Kotagiri Venkateswara Rao is handling the edits. KA Vallabha and KA Rama Rao (presenter) are backing the film under the banner of Creative Commercials.

Telugu rights of Vijay’s Master already sold!

Thalapathy Vijay’s new film ‘Master’ is hot in demand in the market. The fact that it is director Lokesh’s immediate next after the blockbuster success of ‘Kaithi’ and the presence of a huge star cast has heightened the expectations on ‘Master’. Even before the completion of shoot, its Telugu rights have been sold for a huge price.

Reports suggest that the distribution rights of ‘Master’ in Andhra Pradesh and Telengana have been acquired by Mahesh Koneru for 8.5 crore rupees. Mahesh had distributed Vijay’s last film, ‘Bigil’ as well. Over the past few years, Vijay has been consistently expanding his fan base in the Telugu states and his last few films had also emerged successful there.

‘Master’ has already done massive pre-release business. While Sony Music India bought the audio rights, Amazon Prime bagged the streaming rights for a new record price. Sun TV has acquired the satellite rights. Besides that, the theatrical rights of Karnataka have also been sold.

‘Master’, as assured by the makers, will be completely different from Vijay’s earlier films. Along with Vijay, the film will see another big star, Vijay Sethupathi, in a major role. He is reportedly playing the antagonist’s part. Malavika Mohanan plays the female lead’s part. ‘Kaithi’ fame Arjun Das, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Gouri Kishan, Ramya Subramaniam, Sriman, Ramesh Thilak and many others are part of the cast.

Young sensation Anirudh Ravichander is trusted with the music department and Sathyan Sooryan handles the cinematography. Xavier Britto is producing the film which is scheduled for an April release next year.
