Thalaivar 168: Kushbhu to star in Rajinikanth’s next with Siva

As officially announced recently, superstar Rajinikanth’s next film, tentatively titled as ‘Thalaivar 168’, will be directed by Siva. Sun Pictures is producing the film. Pre-production works are currently progressing which includes finalizing the cast. Latest buzz is that the makers are in talks with veteran actress Khushbu Sundar for the film.

Khushbu has not been very active in Tamil cinema for the last few years. Except for a few guest appearances in her home production films, it has been a while since she has appeared in full-fledged roles. It remains to be seen if she will be seen as Rajinikanth’s pair or some other important character in the Siva directorial. Notably, the two stars have acted as lead pair in films like ‘Annamalai’, ‘Mannan’ and ‘Pandiyan’.

‘Thalaivar 168’ is said to be a rural-based mass entertainer, something that Rajinikanth has not done of late. On the technical side, the same team of Siva’s last film ‘Viswasam’ has been retained, which includes composer Imman, DOP Vetri and editor Ruben. Shoot is expected to begin early next year.

‘Thalapathy 64’ team has wrapped up the schedule in New Delhi and will be next shooting in Shimoga. They are planning to shoot there from December 1 to January 19. Actors like Vijay Sethupathi, Antony Varghese and Andrea Jeremiah, who were not part of the first two schedules, will be joining the team for this leg of shoot. Lead actor Vijay will also be part of this schedule in which some riveting action sequences have been planned to be shot.

Meanwhile, couple of new stills of Vijay in his new look has gone viral online. The actor looks stylish and young as ever in this get up. The film has him playing a college professor with an untold dark side. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj has assured that this film will be totally different from the star’s regular mass masala entertainers.

Lokesh has scripted the film with additional screenplay by Pon Parthiban and ‘Aadai’ director Rathna Kumar. On the technical front, music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography is by Sathyan Sooryan. Xavier Britto is producing the film, which is slated for summer release in 2020.

Sathyan Anthikad’s next with Mammootty to start rolling in April

As reported by us earlier, veteran director Sathyan Anthikad is set to team up with Mammootty for his next film. Iqbal Kuttipuram, who has penned superhit films like ‘Niram’, ‘4 The People’, ‘Arabikatha’, ‘Diamond Necklace’, is scripting this new film. Central Pictures will be producing the film, which is yet to be titled. The latest we hear is that shoot will be beginning in April and it will hit screens for Onam 2020.

Mammootty and Sathyan Anthikad have previously worked together in films like ‘Sreedharante Onnaam Thirumurivu’, ‘Artham’ and ‘Kalikkalam’. ‘Oraal Mathram’, which got released in the year 1997, was their last film together. Likewise, Sathyan Anthikad and Iqbal Kuttippuram had collaborated previously for ‘Oru Indian Pranayakatha’ and ‘Jomonte Suvisheshangal’. Both the films did well at the box office. So they will be hoping to continue their successful run.

Sathyan Anthikad’s last release was ‘Njan Prakashan, which turned out to be a huge hit. For his new film with Mammootty, the director is expected to stick on to his regular feel-good formula that most often not works with the family audience. Official announcement is expected to be made soon.

Dhanush, Nivin Pauly and Nani to release Avane Srimannarayana trailer

Kannada superstar Rakshit Shetty’s new film ‘Avane Srimannarayana’ is getting ready for release next month. Debutant Sachin Ravi is directing the film. Interestingly, it is being released in five regional Indian languages – Kannada, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam. Meanwhile, the makers have planned to release the film’s trailer online tomorrow (November 28). South cinema’s leading young stars Dhanush, Nivin Pauly and Nani will be releasing the trailers through their respective social media handles.

Rakshit Shetty took to his Twitter handle to inform the same. He has written,

It gives me immense happiness to announce that @dhanushkraja , Actor @NameisNani and @NivinOfficial will be e-releasing the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam trailers of #AvaneSrimannarayana respectively.

‘Avane Srimannarayana’ is a film set in the ’80s in a fictional town called ‘Amaravathi’ in Karnataka. Rakshit, who has also written the story, will be seen essaying the lead role of an ’80s cop. The story is basically centred about this corrupt police officer who lives in Amaravathi. The cast Shanvi Srivastava, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, and Balaji Manohar.

H. K. Prakash and Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah are producing the film.The film is scheduled to hit screens on December 27. Tomichan Mulakuppadam, the producer of blockbuster Malayalam films like ‘Pulimurugan’ and ‘Ramaleela’ will be releasing it in Kerala.

As informed earlier, the much-awaited first single from Rajinikanth’s ‘Darbar’ has been released online. The legendary SP Balasubrahmanyam, who has sung some of superstar’s most memorable opening songs, has rendered this track as well. Young sensation Anirudh Ravichander has composed the song and lyrics are penned by Vivek.

‘Darbar’, written and directed by AR Murugadoss, is a mass action-thriller that has Rajinikanth in a police officer’s role. He is playing a cop’s role after nearly two decades. So naturally, expectations are high on the film. Nayanthara is paired opposite him and Nivetha Thomas will be seen as his daughter. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty is making his Tamil debut by playing the villain role. The supporting cast also comprises of Prateik Babbar, Sriman, Yogi Babu, cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s Yograj Singh and many others.

Post-production works are currently progressing at a brisk pace as the makers are working towards a Pongal release early next year. Lyca Productions is producing the film.

Dhanush’s The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir to be released in 13000 screens in China

Dhanush’s maiden English film ‘The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir’ got released worldwide in June this year. The film did fairly well and earned decent reviews from the critics. It is now set for a grand release in China this Friday (November 29). The film will be releasing in a whopping 13000 screens across the country. This is a massive release for a film that doesn’t boast the presence of a big Hollywood star.

‘The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir’ directed by Ken Scott is based on the novel, ‘The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir Who Got Trapped In An IKEA Wardrobe’, written by Romain Puertolas. The film got screened at the Norwegian International Film Festival and Barcelona Sant-Jordi International Film Festival.

Interestingly, Dhanush has another release this Friday – his long delayed Tamil film ‘Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta’. The Gautham Menon directorial is hitting screens amidst high expectations despite the multiple postponing.

Biju Menon to sport three different looks in Maatti

A new film of veteran actor Biju Menon got announced couple of days back through his official social media handle. Titled as ‘Maatti’, the film is written and directed by Domin D’Silva of ‘Paippin Chuvattile Pranayam’ fame. Emmanuel Joseph and Ajith Thalapilly of Silver Bay Studios are jointly producing the film.

‘Maatti’ is a stylish entertainer that will feature Biju Menon in three different looks. Domin has written the film based on some real life incidents and stories. It is basically a biography of the lead character, Maatti, played by Biju Menon. Details regrading the other cast members will be revealed soon.

On the technical front, Pavi K Pavan will be wielding the camera and music department will be handled by Jakes Bejoy. Shameer Muhammed has been signed as the editor and Supreme Sundar as the stunt choreographer. Besides Kerala, the makers have also planned to shoot the film in Dubai, Delhi and Nainital.

Dinoy Paulose’s next with Thanneer Mathan Dhinangal team is a realistic romantic comedy!

Earlier this year, the teenage-romantic comedy ‘Thanneer Mathan Dinangal’ (TMD) emerged as a sensational hit at the box office. It is easily one of the most profitable films in Malayalam cinema in the past decade. It was the maiden production venture of Plan J Studios, headed by Jomon T John and Shameer Muhammed. Shenin Becker was also part of the production. The film had a bunch of freshers in the cast and crew including its director Girish AD and his co-writer Dinoy Paulose.

Dinoy had also played an important character in the film as Joyson, the brother of protagonist Jaison. The multi-talented youngster is now set to turn a lead actor. Dinoy is also scripting the film, which is a realistic romantic comedy. The same ‘TMD’ team will be coming together once again for this film.

An official announcement with full details comprising the cast and crew will be made very shortly.

Confirmed: Anushka Shetty to star in Gautham Menon’s next

After over two years of low, ace filmmaker Gautham Menon is finally back in fold as his long delayed films are gearing up for release. To start with, the Dhanush starrer ‘Ennai Nokki Paayum Thotta’ will be hitting screens this Friday (November 29). Vels Film International is releasing the film.

Gautham Menon has signed a three-film deal with the production house. He is currently working on a spy-thriller film titled as ‘Joshua’. The film has ‘Puppy’ fame Varun in the lead. After finishing that, his next for Vels banner will have Anushka Shetty in the lead. Producer Ishari K Ganesh himself confirmed this in a recent event.

Buzz is that this female-centric will be an adaptation of noted writer and filmmaker Govind Nihalani’s script. Nihalani is a filmmaker, cinematographer, screenwriter and producer, known for his works in Bollywood. He is a recipient of six National Film Awards. Interestingly, Kamal Hassan’s classic hit ‘Kuruthippunal’ was adapted from one of his scripts. It even went on to become India’s official entry for the 68th Academy Awards Best Foreign Language Film category.

It remains to see how Gautham Menon adapts Nihalani’s script. This is probably the first time the director is making a feature film based on someone else’s script. Anushka, who has also been away from the limelight for the last few months, will be trying to make a strong comeback. She had previously worked with the director in ‘Yennai Arindhaal’ that had Ajith in the lead.

As reported earlier, the ‘Singam’ combo of Suriya and director Hari are set to team up once again. The two are planning to reunite for a film out of the ‘Singam’ franchise. It will be a family entertainer with the regular dose of action and other commercial elements. Leading production house Sun Pictures is most likely to produce the film. An official confirmation is still awaited in this regard.

Suriya has been going through a rough phase for the last few years and he desperately needs a big blockbuster to be back on track. He will be hoping to do so with Hari’s film. Apart from the three-part ‘Singam’ series, Suriya and Hari have also worked together in movies like ‘Aaru and Vel’.

Suriya is currently busy with the dubbing of ‘Soorari Pottru’, an eagerly-awaited film directed by Sudha Kongara. The star was supposed to do a film Siva next but since the director got himself committed for a dream project with Rajinikanth, their film god postponed indefinitely. Suriya is also in talks with Gautham Menon, Lokesh Kanagaraj and Vetrimaaran.
