KGF fame Yash and Abishek Bachchan were the first choices to play Vijay’s villain in Thalapathy 64!

Vijay is currently shooting for his new film with Lokesh Kanagraj, which has been tentatively titled as ‘Thalapathy 64’. The film boasts of an ensemble cast comprising of Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Antony Varghese and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj. Lokesh has scripted the film with additional screenplay by Pon Parthiban and ‘Aadai’ director Rathna Kumar. It is said to be an action-packed gangster flick that will be totally different from Vijay’s regular mass-masala films.

While Vijay is said to be playing the lead role of a college professor, Vijay Sethupathi will be seen as the villain in this film. Interestingly, the makers had first approached couple of other big stars to essay the antagonist role. ‘KGF’ fame Yash and Abhishek Bachchan were the first choices to play Vijay’s villain. Though both the stars were impressed by the script, they could not allot immediate dates due to prior commitments.

It was only later that the makers approached Vijay Sethupathi. The actor squeezed in dates amidst his busy schedule as this was a huge project and he was also a hefty sum as remuneration. It is the first time Vijay and Vijay Sethupathi are acting together and that is one of the biggest attractions of this film.

After wrapping up the forst schedule in Chennai, the team is currently in Delhi for a month long shoot. Xavier Britto is producing the film, which is scheduled for a summer release in 2020.

Three Malayalam films to hit screens this Friday

After a dull couple of weeks, this Friday (November ?, Malayalam cinema will see three promising films hitting screens. Nivin Pauly’s hugely awaited ‘Moothon’, Biju Menon’s ‘Nalpathiyonnu’ and the Suraj-Soubin starrer ‘Android Version 5.25’ are the three films set for release.

‘Moothon’ is the most anticipated film among the lot. After successfully getting screened at Toronto International Film Festival and Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, the film is finally having its theatrical release this Friday. The Geetu Mohandas directorial has been eagerly awaited ever since the great response it received at the festival circuit. Nivin Pauly, Roshan Mathew, Sobhita Dhulipala and Shashank Arora play major roles.

‘Nalpathiyonnu’ is directed by Lal Jose, who has been off colour for some time now. From the trailer and promo cuts released so far, the film looks very promising and it might just be the much needed comeback for the ace filmmaker. Scripted by Prageesh PG, it is a political satire that unravels through hilarious incidents when two people – a strong religious follower and a follower of communist ideologies set out on a piligrimage to Sabarimala. Biju Menon and Nimisha play the lead roles. A bunch of newcomers are also part of the cast.

‘Android Kunjappan Version 5.25’ is a very interesting film. Debutant Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval is directing the films that raised curiosity right from the time of its announcement. It is a film about robot-human interaction, something which has been attempted several times in other languages, but a first in Malayalam. It is a family drama with a science fiction element in it. Soubin Shahir, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Saiju Kurup play the three lead roles.

All the three films have some promising aspects and have the potential to do well. Let’s hope things turn out well and all these films enjoy a good run in theatres.

Forrest Gump remake: Lal Singh Chaddha title logo released

As we already know, Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan is starring in the official remake of classic American film ‘Forrest Gump’. The remake titled as ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ will be directed by Advait Chandan of ‘Secret Superstar’ fame. Veteran ctor Atul Kulkarni has adapted the movie, which has started rolling. The makers have now released a title logo motion poster along with which they have confirmed that the film will be hitting screens for Christmas 2020.

‘Forrest Gump’ starring Tom Hanks is a Hollywood classic that got released in 1994. It is a comedy drama based on the novel of the same name by Winston Groom. The film was directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth. It bagged six Academy Awards for best picture, best director, best actor, best adapted screenplay, best visual effects and best film editing.

Apparently, the Hindi version, ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ has been adapated to suit the sensibilities of the Indian audience. Kareena Kapoor will be seen as the female lead. Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi has also been approached to play a crucial role in the film. Official announcement regarding the cast is yet to be made. Pritam will be handling the music department.

Aamir Khan is producing ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ jointly with Viacom 18 Motion Productions.

The popular ‘Aadu’ franchise is coming back next year. After the blockbuster success of the second part, it was announced that a third installment which will be much on bigger scale. There were even talks about a 3D version, naturally to attract the kids. Now it has been officially announced that ‘Aadu 3’ will be hitting screens for Onam 2020.

Last day, during the pack up of Jayasurya’s upcoming film ‘Thrissur Pooram’, it was revealed that ‘Aadu 3’ will start shooting by April or May next year. Vijay Babu, who is producing both ‘Thrissur Pooram’ and ‘Aadu 3’, made the declaration. Midhun Manuel Thomas, who wrote and directed the first two parts, will be helming the third part as well. He was also present during last day’s announcement.

‘Aadu 3’ will see Jayasurya will be back as Shaji Pappan. Sunny Wayne and Vinayakan will be the other two leads as they will be reprising their characters Sathan Xavier and Dude respectively. Saiju Kurup, Dharmajan, Vijay Babu, Indrans, Bhagath Manuel and Sudhi Koppa are also likely to be part of the cast. More details are expected to be revealed soon.

‘Kaithi’ directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is an action film that’s devoid of the usual formulaic stuff. That no-nonsense approach makes the film unique. Shoot for ‘Thalapathy 64’ is currently progressing in Delhi. Lokesh Kanagaraj, whose latest release ‘Kaithi’, continues to excel all over, is directing this film. While Vijay plays the lead role, the film also boasts of a star-studded supporting cast. Vijay Sethupathi, Antony Varghese, Malavika Mohanan, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj, Andrea Jeremiah and ’96’ fame Gouri G Kishan are part of the film.

Latest reports suggest that Shanthanu Bhagyaraj will be seen in a negative role in the film. Vijay Sethupathi is playing the prime antagonist and it said that Shanthanu’s character is a college student who is also a part of his gang. Vijay is reportedly essaying the part of a college professor. Shanthanu is a huge fan of Vijay and this film with his idol is expected to be a big break for him.

As informed by us earlier, the motion poster of superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Darbar’ will be out on November 7. The latest we hear is that top stars from Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam will be coming together to share the poster through their respective social media handles exactly at 6 PM. The makers are yet to announce the names of the celebrities who will be releasing the motion poster.

‘Darbar’ written and directed by AR Murugadoss is a cop action flick set in Mumbai. Rajinikanth is playing a police officer’s role after nearly two decades. Nayanthara is paired with him and Nivetha Thomas will be seen as his daughter. Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty plays the villain role. The cast also includes Prateik Babbar, Sriman, Yogi Babu, cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s Yograj Singh and many others.

‘Darbar’ also has a strong technical crew headlined by ace DOP Santosh Sivan, composer Anirudh Ravichander and veteran editor Sreekar Prasad. Ram-Laxman duo and Peter Hein are choreographing the stunts. Lyca Productions is producing the film, which is scheduled for Pongal release in January.

After a long gap of 27 years, maestro AR Rahman is returning back Malayalam film industry. He is making his comeback by compose music for director Blessy’s ambitious film ‘Aadujeevitham’. The film starring Prithviraj in the lead is based on Benyamin’s award winning novel of the same name.

Director Blessy roped in AR Rahman as he felt that the film has great scope for music. ‘Aadujeevitham’ is about the life of an abused migrant worker, Najeeb Mohammed, who is stranded in the middle of deserts in Saudi Arabi. The lone man undergoes different experiences from seclusion, emotional conflicts and survival struggles.

Blessy firmly believes that only AR Rahman can bring about the kind of music that can capture the different emotional and spiritual levels of an isolated man. According to him, music has a great role to play in the film than the dialogues. The composer recently recorded a song with Vijay Yesudas’ voice. Earlier, Chinmayi had also sung a track in the film. Apart from the songs, Rahman will also be working on an international quality score with a blend of different genres of music such as Arabic, western and Indian.

‘Aadujeevitham’ has been in the making for nearly two years now. It is being shot over various schedules as Prithviraj needs to be appearing in multiple looks. It is expected to hit screens by the end of next year or early 2021.

As officially announced recently, superstar Rajinikanth’s next film, tentatively titled as ‘Thalaivar 168’, will be directed by Siva. Sun Pictures is producing the film, which marks the banner’s third time collaboration with the star after delivering huge blockbusters with ‘Enthiran’ and ‘Petta’.

Director Siva’s last release ‘Viswasam’ was a huge success that has prompted many other filmmakers in Kollywood to try the rural drama formula, which is proving to be successful to a large extent. Siva’s new film with Rajinikanth is also expected to be on similar lines as it has been a long time since the star has done has a rural family film.

Speculations are running rife that the makers are trying to rope in Keerthy Suresh and Jyothika to play the female leads. While Manju Warrier’s name was also part of discussions initially, it seems like Jyothika has bagged the role. An official announcement regarding the same will be made very shortly.

As we already know, cricketer Irfan Pathan is making his acting debut with Tamil star Vikram’s next. Tentatively titled as ‘Chiyaan Vikram 58’, the film is being directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu. Irfan has already completed shooting for the first schedule of the film. He shared the news to his followers in social media by sharing a shooting spot still.

Irfan reportedly plays a Turkish police officer in the film and it is said to be a very important character. Former Miss Supranational, Srinidhi Shetty, well known for playing the female lead in the Kannada blockbuster ‘KGF’, is also part of this film.

‘Chiyaan Vikram 58’ is touted to be an action thriller that will be made on a huge scale. 7 Screen Studio is producing the film, which has music composed by maestro AR Rahman. Director Ajay Gnanamuthu has previously helmed the horror flick ‘Demonte Colony’ and crime-thriller ‘Imaikka Nodigal’, both of which were hits.

Naturally, Ajay’s film with Vikram has high expectations among the fans. There is also an added buzz going around about Vikram sporting 25 different looks in the film, but the makers have not yet confirmed this.
