Asif Ali to produce Dileep’s next

Several actors in Malayalam film industry have turned producers and Asif Ali is also one of them. So far, he has produced only two films – ‘Kohinoor’ and ‘Kavi Udheshichathu’, both of which had him in the lead roles. For the first time, Asif is set to produce a film without him in the lead role. Dileep will be playing the lead role in the film, which will be directed by master filmmaker Joshiy. Dileep has already allotted dates for Joshiy and if things go as per plans, an official announcement will be made by the end of November.

After a series of duds, Joshiy recently made a strong comeback with ‘Porinju Mariam Jose’. The veteran proved his ability to helm mass entertainers and his upcoming film with Dileep is also expected to be on the similar lines. The two have previously worked together in ‘Lion’, ‘July 4’, ‘Twenty 20’, ‘Runway’ and ‘Avatharam’. While there are talks about ‘Runway’ getting a sequel as ‘Valayar Paramasivam’, a confirmation regarding the same is yet to be made.

Release date confirmed for Karthi-Jeethu Joseph film

Karthi is currently basking in the phenomenal success of ‘Kaithi’. Thanks to the unanimously positive reviews, the film is doing extremely well at the box office. It is most likely to end up as the biggest blockbuster in Karthi’s career. Naturally, expectations will be high on the star’s upcoming films.

As reported by us earlier, Malayali filmmaker Jeethu Joseph is directing his next with Karthi in the lead. This yet-to-be titled film is said to be a family-oriented thriller and shoot for the same has already been wrapped up. Though the makers are yet to officially announce the release date, we hear that the film will be hitting screens on December 20.

Nikhila Vimal is paired with Karthi in the film. Jyothika is also playing a prominent role as his sister. Interestingly, Karthi and Jyothika are acting together for the first time and their rapport on screen will be something exciting to watch out for. Veteran actor Sathyaraj is playing the duo’s father in the film. Anson Paul, Hareesh Peradi, Seetha Sowkar Janaki, Ammu Abhirami and Ilavarasu are also part of the supporting cast.

On the technical front, RD Rajasekhar is the cinematographer and Govind Vasantha handles the music department. Parallel Minds is producing the film and it will be presented by Viacom 18 Motion Pictures.

Release date confirmed for Omar Lulu’s Dhamaka

Director Omar Lulu’s new film ‘Dhamaka’ is gearing up to hit screens. The makers have announced that the film will be releasing on November 28. It has a big star comprising of veterans as well as younger generation actors. Arun Kumar, well known for his performance as a child artist in ‘Olympian Antony Adam’, plays the main lead in ‘Dhamaka’. Popular South Indian actress Nikki Galrani has been paired with him.

‘Dhamaka’ has its story penned by Omar Lulu, while screenplay and dialogues are written jointly by Sarang Jayaprakash, Venu OV and Kiran Lal. As per the makers, it is a full-on comedy entertainer revolving around the hero’s impotency issue. Nikki Galrani plays a a glamorous character in the film.

‘Dhamaka’ has veteran actors Mukesh and Urvashi playing prominent roles. Neha Saxena, Noorin Shereef, Shalin Zoya, Sabumon Abdusamad, Hareesh Kanaran and Dharmajan Bolgatty are also part of the supporting cast. Its technical crew comprises of Sinoj P Ayyappan as the cinematographer, Gopi Sunder as the music director and Dilip Dennis as the editor.

MK Nassar is producing the film under the banner of Good Line Productions.

The cast of ‘Thalapathy 64’ seems to be getting bigger and better. Vijay plays the lead role in the film and he will be locking horns with ‘Makkal Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi. The latest Indian sensation on social medias, Malavika Mohanan plays the female lead. Malayalam actor Antony Varghese, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Andrea Jeremiah are also part of the film.

Latest addition to the cast is Gouri Kishan, who won hearts with her delightful performance in ’96’. Though it has been over a year since the release of ’96’, Gouri had not signed her second Tamil film. It is said that she will be essaying the role of a college student in ‘Thalapathy 64’.

Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is getting unanimous appreciation for his latest release ‘Kaithi’, is directing this film. Naturally, expectations are huge among the audience, which includes both the critics and commoners. Nothing much is known regarding the film or its characters. The makers had recently wrapped up the brief first schedule and will soon be heading to North India.

Rahman and Gautami to be part of Mysskin’s Thupparivalan 2

Mysskin is one of those few filmmakers who command a fan following his own. Despite not working with any of the top league heroes, the director has carved a space for himself with his unique filmmaking style. His 2017 detective thriller film ‘Thupparivalan’ must be the biggest hit of his career. Mysskin is now planning to make a sequel for it with Vishal once again reprising the lead role of detective Kaniyan Poongundran.

Pre-production works have already begun and the director was recently in London to scout locations for the film. Prasanna is expected to be retained in the cast and newcomer Lovely Singh is said to be playing the female lead. Latest addition to the cast is veteran actors Rahman and Gauthami Tadimalla. Both the actors are expected to be seen playing important roles.

Vishal’s own production house Vishal Film Factory is producing ‘Thupparivalan 2’, which is scheduled to start rolling from December.

Tamil superstar Vijay is in that phase of the career where his films are doing phenomenal business worldwide and his stardom is reaching new heights. The extraordinary opening that his latest release ‘Bigil’ has had is a testimony to that. Within six days of its release, the film is closing in on the Rs 200 crore mark and is expected to set new benchmarks at the box office.

Meanwhile, Vijay has already started shooting for his next film, ‘Thalapathy 64’. It is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, one of the most promising new generation filmmakers in Tamil cinema. Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Antony Varghese, Shanthanu Bhagyaraj and Andrea Jeremiah are also part of the film.

Even though only a brief first schedule of ‘Thalapathy 64’ has got over, talks about the star’s next have already started emerging. There is a speculation going around that ‘Thalapathy 64’ will see the reunion of Vijay and director AR Murugadoss for ‘Thuppakki 2’.

‘Thuppakki’ which got released in 2012 was a massive blockbuster that took Vijay to the next level of stardom. Latest talks in social medias suggest that director Murugadoss is working on the idea of a sequel. Recently, its cinematographer Santosh Sivan had also hinted about the possibility of a sequel.

An official word is yet to be made but it will be tremendous if such a project materializes.

As reported by us earlier, Suresh Gopi is set to stage a comeback to Malayalam after a long gap and he is trying to make it a memorable one. He has already started shooting for Sathyan Anthikad’s son Anoop Sathyan’s debut film that also stars Shobhana, Dulquer Salmaan and Kalyani Priyadarshan. He will be also be working on Nithin Renji Panicker’s upcoming film ‘Kaaval’.

‘Kaaval’ scripted by Nithin himself has been planned as an action-packed family drama. The story set in the high ranges of Idukki spans across two different timelines. Suresh Gopi will be appearing in two different looks in the film. Along with him, the film also has Lal in a major role. Others in the cast include Zaya David, Alencier Ley, IM Vijayan, Sujith Shankar, Kichu Tellus, Binu Pappu, Muthumani and Pathamaraj Ratheesh.

On the technical front, National award winner Nikhil S Praveen, noted for his work in Jayaraj’s highly acclaimed films ‘Bhayanakam’, will be cranking the camera. Music department will be handled by Ranjin Raj of ‘Joseph’ fame. Joby George of Goodwill Entertainments is producing the film.

Allu Arjun’s next launched; Vijay Sethupathi to play the villain

Allu Arjun’s new film, tentatively titled as ‘AA 20’, got launched today with a customary pooja ceremony. Hit maker Sukumar is directing the film and Mythri Movie Makers is producing it. South Indian sensation Rashmika Mandanna has been signed as the female lead. Interestingly, the makers have roped in Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi to play the antagonist.

‘AA 20’ will be Vijay Sethupathi’s third outing in Telugu cinema. He debuted in Tollywood recently with the Chiranjeevi starrer ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’. He is also playing the villain role in Vaisshnav Tej’s upcoming love story ‘Uppena’. In his home turf Tamil, Vijay Sethupathi will once again be seen in negative role in ‘Thalapathy 64’.

‘AA 20’ is said to be an action entertainer, which marks the third time collaboration of Allu Arjun with Sukumar. The director is known for helming blockbuster films like ‘Arya’, ‘Arya 2’, ‘100% Love’ and ‘Nannaku Prematho’. He last helmed the Ram Charan starrer ‘Rangasthalam’, which was also a huge hit, both critically and commercially.

Allu Arjun’s next release will be the Trivikram Srinivas directorial ‘Ala Vaikuntapuramlo’. The film has been planned as a Sankranti release in January next year.

Vijay starrer ‘Bigil’ continues to do great business even on working days. Despite releasing amidst high expectations, the film has managed to exceed all that. It is doing extremely well, both in the domestic and overseas box office. All the leading trade analysts have unanimously reported that ‘Bigil’ has emerged as the best opener among the Diwali releases in Indian cinema this year.

Meanwhile, Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar has come out praising Vijay and ‘Bigil’ director Atlee. Karan has tweeted,

Shoot for Tovino Thomas’ new film ‘Forensic’ is currently underway in Palaklad. The film is being directed by ‘7th Day’ scriptwriter Akhil Paul and Anas Khan. The two have also scripted this film based on some real life inspired events. Tovino plays a medico legal advisor who works with the Kerala Police’s Forensic Science Lab. Hia character is named as Samuel John Kaattookaran.

Forensic science is an area least explored in Malayalam cinema. It will be interesting to see what this new film has to offer. Mamta Mohandas has been signed as the female lead and she will be joining the team shortly. The actress, who is known to be selective with her projects, will be sharing screen space with Tovino for the first time.

Saiju Kurup, Giju John, Reba Monica John, Dhanesh Anand, Anil Murali and many others are also part of the supporting cast. DOP Akhil George, music director Jakes Bejoy, editor Shameer Muhammed, art director Dileepnath, costume designer Sameera Saneesh, action director Rajashekar and sound designers Vishnu Govind and Sree Sankar form the film’s core technical crew.

‘Forensic’ is being produced by Navis Xaviour and Siju Mathew under the banner of Juvis Productions and Raju Malliath’s Ragam Movies.
