Bibin George joins the cast of Mammootty’s Shylock

Shoot for Mammootty’s new film ‘Shylock’ is currently progressing at a brisk pace. It is being directed by Ajai Vasudev of ‘Rajadhiraja’ and ‘Masterpiece’ fame. Just like the director’s previous two films, ‘Shylock’ is also shaping up as an action-packed mass entertainer. Along with Mammootty, the movie also has veteran Tamil actor Raj Kiran and Meena in major roles. Latest to join the cast is scriptwriter-turned-actor Bibin George. After acting in supporting and villain roles, Bibin has now done a couple of lead roles. In ‘Shylock’, he is said to be essaying a very important role.

‘Shylock’ is scripted by newcomers Bibin Mohan and Aneesh Hameed. Mammootty plays a financier’s role in the film and his character is said to be a grey shaded one. Raj Kiran, who is making his Malayalam debut, is playing an equally important role. Meena has been paired with him.

‘Shylock’ has been planned as a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual. Even before the completion of shoot, Surya TV have acquired the film’s satellite rights. Though the exact amount for which the rights were sold have not yet been revealed, it is most likely to be quite a hefty amount. Joby George of Goodwill Entertainment is producing the film. If things go as per plans, ‘Shylock’ be hitting screens for this year’s Christmas in December.

The highly anticipated teaser of Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi’s 151st film ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ has just been released in four languages – Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi. Superstar Mohanlal has given voice over for the Malayalam version of this marvelous teaser.

This epic-period film directed by Surender Reddy is based on late freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, who fought the British valiantly much before the Sepoy Mutiny. He was eventually hanged to death by the British government. While Chiranjeevi plays the titular role, the film’s stellar star cast also includes Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Tamannaah, Ravi Kishan, Niharika, Jagapathi Babu, Brahmaji and Kiccha Sudeep.

Noted writer duo Paruchuri Brothers have penned the story and Sai Madhav Burra has written the dialogues. Screenplay is by director Surendar Reddy himself. Cinematography is handled by Rathnavelu and music is composed by Amit Trivedi. Sreekar Prasad is the editor.

‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ is being produced by Chiranjeevi’s son, actor Ram Charan under the banner of Konidela Production Company.

Ratchasan pair Vishnu Vishal and Amala Paul to reunite for Jersey remake

We had recently reporter that actor Vishnu Vishal is in talks for the Tamil remake of superhit Telugu film ‘Jersey’. It seems like the actor has finally given his nod. Amala Paul is being considered to play the female lead. The duo last worked together in last year’s blockbuster crime-thriller ‘Ratchasan’. Nelson Venkatesan of ‘Monster’ and ‘Oru Naal Koothu’ fame is said to be the front runner to direct the Tamil remake of ‘Jersey’. An official announcement is expected to be made soon.

The Tamil rights for ‘Jersey’ has been acquired by Rana Dagguabati. The actor shares a good rapport with Vishnu Vishal as they had worked together in the yet-to-be released ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’, a trilingual directed by Prabhu Solomon. It is worth a mention that Vishnu was a professional cricketer in his younger days. He has also played a cricketer’s role in the hit film ‘Jeeva’. So it seems like a natural choice to cast him in the remake of ‘Jersey’.

‘Jersey’ starring Nani is one of the biggest hits of the year in Telugu cinema. The film written and directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri had Nani in the role of a passionate cricketer. It is the story of a middle-aged player making his return to cricket. The movie has an widely appealing storyline. Besides, the Tamil remake, a Hindi version is also in the planning and Shahid Kapoor is reportedly the first choice.

Lal Singh Chaddha: Vijay Sethupathi to star alongside Aamir Khan in Forrest Gump remake

Bollywood’s Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan is starring in the official remake of classic American film ‘Forrest Gump’. The remake titled as ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ will be helmed by Advait Chandan of ‘Secret Superstar’ fame. Veteran actor Atul Kulkarni has scripted the movie, which is scheduled to start rolling shortly.

Interestingly, Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi has been approached to play a crucial role in the movie. We presume that he will be playing the role of Benjamin Buford Bubba from ‘Forrest Gump’. The character was played by Mykelti Williamson in the original. It is a very prominent role and needless to say, it will be quite exciting to see Aamir and Sethupathi sharing screen space. The two had recently met to discuss about the project. Also, in the IFFM, Sethupathi had confirmed that they will soon be acting together.

‘Forrest Gump’ starring Tom Hanks is a Hollywood classic that got released in 1994. It is a comedy drama based on the novel of the same name by Winston Groom. The movie was directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Eric Roth. It won six Academy Awards including best picture, best director, best actor, best adapted screenplay, best visual effects and best film editing.

Apparently, the Hindi version, ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’ has been adapted to suit the sensibilities of the Indian audience. Aamir Khan is also producing it jointly with Viacom 18 Motion Productions. The makers are planning to start shooting from this October. It will be shot mostly in northern India, in and around the state of Punjab. It has already been announced that the movie will be hitting screens for Christmas 2020.

Joju George-Nimisha Sajayan starrer Chola to be remade in Tamil

Director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan’s ‘Chola’ starring Joju George and Nimisha Sajayan has been eagerly awaited by the cinephiles. It first got noted when the Kerala State awards were announced. Both the lead actors won awards for their performance in the movie. Sanal Kumar Sasidharan also got a special jury mention for direction as well as sound design.

‘Chola’ was then selected for screening at the Venice International Film Festival. It is only the third Malayalam film to be screened at Venice. Adoor Gopalakrishnan’s ‘Mathilukal’ and ‘Nizhalkkuthu’ are the other two films. ‘Chola’ will be competing in the Orizzonti section.

The latest we hear is that ‘Chola’ will have a Tamil version. Joju, who is also one of the producers of the film, revealed this in recent interview. It is not yet sure if the same cast will be retained in the Tamil version as well. The movie is about a couple of teenagers stuck in a nightmare in a hotel room. Director has scripted it jointly with KV Manikandan.

‘Chola’ will be having its world premiere at the Venice Festival, which is scheduled to be held from August 28 to September 6.

Master filmmaker Joshiy’s comeback film ‘Porinju Mariam Jose’ was originally scheduled for release on August 15 but it had to be postponed due to the floods. It is now all set to hit screens this Friday (August 23). One day prior to that, the movie will have its world premiere at Dubai. Starring Joju George, Chemban Vinod and Nyla Usha in the lead roles, this movie is expected to be a commercial mass entertainer. The highly impressive trailer and songs also promised the same.

‘Porinju Mariam Jose’ has Joju, Nyla and Chemban Vinod playing the titular roles. Scripted by Abilash N Chandran, the movie is a Thrissur based mass entertainer that is set in the 80s. Like the yesteryear Joshiy films, it has a huge set of actors and has the vibes of an action packed mass flick. Its elaborate supporting cast comprises of Kalabhavan Niyas, Jayaraj Warrier, Sudhi Koppa, IM Vijayan, Rahul Madhav, Anil Nedumangad, Salim Kumar, Nandu, Sinoj, TG Ravi, Vijayaraghavan, Maala Parvathy, Swasika and Malavika Menon.

On the technical front, Ajai David Kachappilly has cranked the camera and music is by Jakes Bejoy. Shyam Sasidharan has done the edits. Rejimon is producing the movie under the banner of Keerthy Movies.

As Prabhas’ much-awaited ‘Saaho’ gears up to hit screens, the makers have released a new song online. The track titled ‘Bad Boy’ features Prabhas and Jacqueline Fernandez, who is making a guest appearance. The track has been released in all four languages. Badshah has composed the track and he has also rendered it along with Benny Dayal and Sunitha Sarathy. While the lyrics for the Tamil version is penned by Vignesh Shivn, the Malayalam lyrics is written by Vinayak Sasikumar.

‘Saaho’ directed by Sujeeth is a big-budget multilingual film. Made on a whopping budget of over Rs 300 crores, it is said to be one the most expensive South Indian films to have been made till date. Originally made in Telugu, the movie will also be releasing in Malayalam, Tamil and Hindi. Its cast also includes actors from all these languages.

Bollywood actress Shradhha Kapoor is paired with Prabhas. Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mandira Bedi, Prakash Belavadi, Murali Sharma, Evelyn Sharma, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay, Lal, Vennela Kishore and Tinnu Anand are playing other prominent roles.

Vamsi Krishna Reddy and Pramod Uppalapati are jointly producing ‘Saaho’ under the banner of UV Creations. It is scheduled for a grand worldwide release on August 30. In Kerala, the movie will be released by director B Unnikrishnan’s distribution firm RD Illuminations.

As we already know, Nayanthara is returning back to Malayalam after a three-year-long gap with ‘Love Action Drama’ (LAD). The movie which marks the directorial debut of Dhyan Sreenivasan has her starring alongside Nivin Pauly. Nayanthara is currently going through a lean patch. Her last three films – ‘Airaa’, ‘Mr Local’ and ‘Kolaiyuthir Kaalam’ have failed to click, both critically and commercially. So the actress will be hoping to make a strong comeback with ‘Love Action Drama’.

Dhyan has scripted ‘LAD’ as a clean rom-com entertainer. Nivin and Nayanthara are coming together for the first time and that is one of the major attractions of the movie. Aju Varghese, Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhanya Balakrishnan, Vismaya, Sreenivasan, Maya Menon, Basil Joseph and Durga Krishna are also part of the cast. The movie has cinematography by Jomon T John and Roby Varghese Raj. Music is composed by Shaan Rahman and edits are done by Vivek Harshan.

Aju Varghese and Vishak Subramaniam are jointly producing ‘LAD’ under the banner of Funtastic Films. The movie is scheduled to hit screens in September during Onam.

Allu Arjun’s ‘Ala Vaikuntapuramlo’ directed by Trivikram Srinivas has a stellar star cast. Pooja Hegde and Nivetha Pethuraj play the two female leads in the film. Tabu, Sushanth, Navdeep, Jayaram, Sathyaraj, Rajendra Prasad, Vennela Kishore, Brahmaji and Sunil play other major roles. Apparently, it is a romantic-family entertainer that focusses on three generations.

Jayaram is said to be playing the role of Allu Arjun’s father in the film. Veteran actress Tabu is paired with him. Keerthy Suresh and Ajay Devgn team up for Maidaan

We had earlier reported about Keerthy Suresh foraying into Bollywood. The actress is making her Hindi debut with ‘Maidaan’, a football based flick that has started rolling today. Ajay Devgn plays the lead role in the film, that is being directed by ‘Badhaai Ho’ fame Amit Sharma. Boney Kapoor, Akash Chawla and Arunava Joy Sengupta will be jointly producing the movie.

‘Maidaan’ is reportedly based on the life of Syed Abdul Rahim, former Indian football coach, also known as the architect of modern football in India. He had lead Indian football team to the semifinals of 1956 Melbourne Olympics. The film is set in the time period of 1956-62, which was the golden era of Indian football.

Meanwhile offers are flooding in for Keerthy Suresh post her National award win. Besides ‘Maidaan’, she has also signed for a solo lead film in Tamil. Karthik Subbaraj is producing the film, which is said to be an emotional mystery thriller. She also has the multilingual epic film ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ coming up.
