Actor Sunny Wayne is celebrating his birthday today. Wishes are pouring in from fans, well-wishers and colleagues within the industry. The makers of his new film ‘Anugraheethan Antony’ have released a birthday special poster. The movie has a young team behind it; most of them being newcomers. It is directed by debutant Prince Joy and scripted by Naveen T Manilal. Story is penned by Jishnu R Nair and Aswin Prakash.

Gouri G Kishan, who won hearts with her impressive performance in the Tamil blockbuster ’96’, is making her Malayalam debut with ‘Anugraheethan Antony’. As per the makers, it is a film that has emotions, fantasy elements and much more. Gouri is supposedly playing the role of Sunny Wayne’s romantic interest in the film.

Sunny Wayne’s upcoming films include Gauthami Nair’s directorial debut ‘Vriththam’ and the Baburaj directorial ‘Black Coffee’, which is a spin-off of ‘Salt n Pepper’. Sunny is also debuting as a feature film producer this year with ‘Padavettu’, that has Nivin Pauly in the lead.

South Indian superstars come together for Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy

Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi’s 151st film ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ is a highly ambitious project, both in terms of production values and cast. The movie directed by Surender Reddy is a period flick based on late freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy. While Chiranjeevi plays the titular role, the cast also includes Amitabh Bachchan, Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Tamannaah, Ravi Kishan, Niharika, Jagapathi Babu and Sudeep form the movie’s stellar star cast.

The highly anticipated teaser of ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ will be out on August 20. It will be releasing in Telugu, Malayalam, Tamil and Kannada languages. The teaser will have an introductory voice over that has been rendered by leading superstars of respective languages. Pawan Kalyan (Telugu), Mohanlal (Malayalam), Rajinikanth (Tamil) and Yash (Kannada) have done the honours.

‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ is being made as a biopic on Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, who fought the British valiantly much before the Sepoy Mutiny. He was eventually hanged to death by the British government. The movie’s story is by the noted writer duo Paruchuri Brothers, and Sai Madhav Burra has written the dialogues. Director Surendar Reddy has penned the screenplay. It is being produced by Chiranjeevi’s son, actor Ram Charan under the banner of Konidela Production Company.

Dileep and Major Ravi to team up for a rom-com

Recently, it was reported that Dileep will be teaming up with director Major Ravi for a new film. Benny P Nayarambalam is scripting this yet-to-be titled film, which apparently is a planned as a romantic comedy. The movie has Dileep playing the role of a soldier who is posted in the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir. The actor has previously played the role of a soldier twice in ‘Megham’ and ‘War and Love’.

Unlike Major Ravi’s usual army films that focus mostly on the profession and the patriotic side, this one with Dileep will be a fun filled love story. Moreover, this is the first time the director is working on another person’s script. Scenarist Benny P Nayarambalam also shares a great rapport with Dileep. He has penned some of the biggest blockbusters in the actor’s career, namely ‘Kalyanaraman’, ‘Kunjikoonan’, ‘Chanthupottu’ and ‘Marykkundoru Kunjaadu’. So expectations will be on the higher side fort this film. Official announcement is expected to be made soon.

As ‘Ambili’ continues to do well in theatres, the makers have released yet another teaser online. Hitting screens in Kerala on August 9, the film opened to largely positive reviews. Critics as well as common audience lapped up the film rating it as a clean feel good entertainer. Though floods affected the initial collections, the film is slowly picking up at the box office, thanks to the positive word of mouth in social medias. Last Wednesday (August 14), ‘Ambili’ got released in Gulf countries as well. The film has also been released in Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and some other major centres outside Kerala.

‘Ambili’ is written and directed by John Paul George of ‘Guppy’ fame. Soubin plays the titular role of Ambili. Nazriya Nazim’s younger brother Naveen Nazim and debutante Tanvi Ram have essayed the other two major roles. Jaffer Idukki, Vettukili Prakash, Neena Kurup, Binu Pappu and Sreelatha Nampoothiri are also part of the supporting cast.

Just like the director’s debut film, ‘Ambili’ is also a feel-good entertainer, that’s high on emotions.
It is part a road movie as well as its.shot in various locations across the country. The film is powered by a fantastic performance from its lead actor, Soubin Shahir, and excellent music by Vishnu Vijay.

The teaser of Mohanlal’s upcoming film ‘Ittymaani Made in China’ has just been released online. Debutants Jibi and Joju are directing the movie, which is touted to be a fun-filled family entertainer. The teaser also gives vibes of a fun flick as it features Mohanlal and KPAC Lalitha engaging in a banter in Chinese language.

The movie has Mohanlal playing double role as a father-son duo.Reportedly, the father character is a martial arts trainer based in China, while his son, Ittymaani, is a caterer by profession. He owns the company, Ittymaani Catering Service based in Thrissur.

‘Joseph’ fame Madhuri Braganza is paired with the father character and Honey Rose plays the romantic interest of Ittymaani. The cast also includes Radikaa Sarath Kumar, Siddique, Vinu Mohan, Aju Varghese, Kailas, Johny Antony, Hareesh Kanaran, Salim Kumar, Sijoy Varghese, Nandu, Aristo Suresh and Swasika.

‘Ittymaani’ has pretty high expectations among the Malayali audience. The film is scheduled for a grand release during the Onam season in September. Antony Perumbavoor is producing it under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Dulquer Salmaan’s long awaited ‘Kurup’ is finally set to go on floors. Srinath Rajendran of ‘Second Show’ and ‘Koothara’ fame is directing the film. Based on the life of Kerala’s most wanted criminal Sukumara Kurup, the film is scripted by KS Aravind and Daniel Sayooj Nair. Pre-production works are currently progressing with the cast being finalized.

While Dulquer Salmaan plays the titular role of Kurup, the film will also have Sunny Wayne and Shine Tom Chacko in major roles. It must be noted that Sunny was also part of Srinath’s previous two films – ‘Second Show’ and ‘Koothara’. Details regarding the other cast members are expected to be revealed soon. Meanwhile, the makers are conducting an audition on August 21 at Jobys Mall, Palakkad.

It has been over two years since ‘Kurup’ got announced. The script was completed after over five years of research works. All this naturally heightens the expectations on the film. Nimish Ravi of ‘Luca’ fame will be cranking the camera and Sushin Shyam will be handling the music department.

Samuthirakani reveals about his plans to make a film with Mohanlal

Samuthirakani is one of the finest character actors in South cinema. Though he predominantly does Tamil films, the National award winner has also done notable roles in other language films. Besides acting, he is also a well known as a director who has helmed films like ‘Nadodigal’, ‘Appa’ and ‘Nimirndhu Nil’.

In a recent interview, Samuthirakani revealed that he has plans to make a film with Mohanlal. The two had earlier acted together in ‘Shikkar’ and ‘Oppam’. More recently, they both part of the KV Anand directorial ‘Kaappaan’, which is getting ready for release. Samuthirkani, in the interview, was all praise of Mohanlal’s phenomenal acting skills.

He is quoted saying, “I have a few subjects in mind for Mohanlal sir. As a project, it will materialize when things fall in place properly. He is an universal actor, so you can make it in Tamil, Malayalam or any other language. It has been a great experience working with him.”

‘Kaappaan’ has a stellar star cast lead by two of South cinema’s biggest stars – Mohanlal and Suriya. Samuthirakani, Arya, Sayyeshaa, Boman Irani and Shamna Kasim are also part of the cast. The movie is slated to hit screens on September 20.

The first look poster of Lijo Jose Pellissery’s ‘Jallikattu’ has just been released. Starring Antony Varghese in the lead, the movie has been highly anticipated by all cine lovers. ‘Jallikattu’ is set to have its world premiere at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), which will be held from September 5-15.

In the official website of TIFF, ‘Jallikattu’ is described as a film presenting a portrait of a remote village in Kerala where a buffalo escapes and causes a frenzy of ecstatic violence. Some mind-blowing new stills from the movie were also recently shared on the TIFF website.

‘Jallikattu’ is based on S Hareesh’s short story ‘Maoist’. The original story discusses about the Maoist situation and a person’s right to freedom, from the perspective of two buffaloes. According to Lijo, ‘Jallikattu’ is a satire told with lot of humour. Taking the crux out of the short story, the makers of ‘Jallikattu’ have developed a screenplay that explores the beastly side of man.

Along with Antony, the movie also stars Chemban Vinod Jose, Sabumon Abdusamad and Vinayakan in prominent roles. Its technical crew comprises of composer Prashanth Pillai, cinematographer Girish Gangadharan, editor Deepu Joseph and sound designer Renganaath Ravee. It is expected to have a theatrical release in October.

As reported by us earlier, Bollywood star Arbaaz Khan is making his debut in Malayalam with the upcoming Mohanlal starrer ‘Big Brother’. The film directed by Siddique is currently on the floors. Arbaaz plays an IPS officer’s role in the film. The actor has got along well with the team, especially with Mohanlal, with whom he shares most of his scenes. The superstar had recently hosted a party on Arbaaz’s birthday. Besides close family members, actor Prithviraj was also part of the birthday celebrations.

Arbaaz Khan has high regard for Mohanlal and Prithviraj. In a recent interview, he opened up about how impressed he was by the duo’s ‘Lucifer’. He is quoted saying to TOI, “Mohanlal sir has performed brilliantly, but I am equally impressed by how Prithviraj sir has directed it. He has done such a fabulous work for an actor-turned-director, with some amazing shots and presentation.”

‘Big Brother’, according to the makers, is a family entertainer with action, humour and sentiments. Anoop Menon and Sarjano Khalid are also part of the cast.
