Mohanlal’s ‘Ittymaani Made in China’ has entered the post-production phase. A new poster of the movie was unveiled today through the actor’s official social media handle. Debutants Jibi and Joju are directing the movie, which is touted to be a fun-filled entertainer.

Mohanlal plays double role as the father-son duo in the movie. While the father character is a martial arts trainer based in China, his son, Ittymaani, is a caterer by profession. He owns the company, Ittymaani Catering Service based in Thrissur. Honey Rose plays his romantic interest. She essays the role of a nurse based in London. ‘Joseph’ fame Madhuri Braganza is paired with the father character.

The movie also stars Radikaa Sarath Kumar, Siddique, Vinu Mohan, Aju Varghese, Kailas, Johny Antony, Hareesh Kanaran, Salim Kumar, Sijoy Varghese, Nandu, Aristo Suresh, Swasika and many others in the supporting cast. Antony Perumbavoor is producing it under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

‘Ittymaani’ is scheduled for a grand release during the Onam season in September.

Nithya Menen and Shine Tom Chacko team up for Aaram Thirukalpana

Director Ajay Devaloka of ‘Who’ fame is back with another ambitious film. His new film has been titled as ‘Aaram Thirukalpana’ and it will have Nithya Menen and Shine Tom Chacko in the lead roles. As per the makers, it is a crime thriller. The movie will be produced by Corridor 6 Films. Its title poster has been shared online by the makers.

Ajay Devaloka is an editor-turned-filmmaker whose previous film ‘Who’, which belonged to the rarely attempted science-fiction genre, was acclaimed critically. It has its official world premiere at the 71st Cannes film festival’s market section. Having two talented actors like Shine Tom Chacko and Nithya Menen in the leads, it will be interesting to see what the director comes up with. Shine Tom was part of ‘Who’ as well.

More details regarding ‘Aaram Thirukalpana’, which includes its supporting cast, technical crew and when shoot begins is expected to be announced soon.

Shoot for Jayasurya’s new film ‘Thrissur Pooram’ is currently progressing. Rajesh Mohanan is directing the movie and it is being produced by Vijay Babu’s Friday Film House. Composer Ratheesh Vega is debuting as scriptwriter with this movie, which is touted to be an action-packed mass entertainer.

‘Thrissur Pooram’ is shaping up as the most expensive film in Jayasurya’s career. The film is structured just like the real Pooram festival. It is divided into several chapters each signifying the various stages of the festival. Jayasurya plays a larger-than-life character named Pulu Giri. Swathi Reddy to play the female lead. She plays Jayasurya’s wife in the film and hers is said to be a very important character.

Senthil Krishna of ‘Chalakkudikaran Changathi’ fame reportedly plays the villain. Sabumon Abdusamad, Vijay Babu, Gayathri Arun, Mallika Sukumaran and Sreejith Ravi are also part of the supporting cast. The movie has cinematography by veteran RD Rajasekhar and edits by Deepu Joseph. Besides scripting, Ratheesh Vega is handling the music department as well.

Veteran director Joshiy’s comeback film ‘Porinju Mariam Jose’ is gearing up to hit screens on August 15. The movie’s official trailer will be released this coming Friday (August 2). A grand trailer launch event has been planned to be held at Lulu Mall, Kochi. Superstar Mohanlal will be the chief guest at the event. Besides that, the trailer will be released online by almost all the leading stars from Malayalam.

Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan, Prithviraj Sukumaran, Asif Ali, Dileep, Jayasurya, Nivin Pauly, Tovino Thomas, Shane Nigam, Kalidas Jayaram, Manju Warrier, Fahadh Faasil, Vineeth Srinivasan, Vinayakan, Murali Gopy, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Anoop Menon, Soubin Shahir, Antony Varghese, Unni Mukundan, Indrajith Sukumaran, Vinay Forrt, Aju Varghese, Dileesh Pothan Kunchacko Boban, Biju Menon and Nimisha Sajayan will be sharing the trailer simultaneously through their respective social media handles. This is probably the first time that such a big set of actors are coming together for the release of a Malayalam movie’s trailer.

‘Porinju Mariam Jose’ has Joju George, Nyla Usha and Chemban Vinod Jose playing the titular roles. The movie scripted by Abilash N Chandran is a Thrissur-based mass entertainer that is set in the 80s. Rejimon is producing the movie under the banner of Keerthy Movies.

Soubin Shahir’s kitty seems to be growing bigger as offers are pouring in large numbers. He will be starting shooting for his new film ‘Arakkallan Mukkakallan’ from next month. The actor had committed for this project last year itself but it didn’t take off then due to some unknown reasons. Debutant Jithu K Jayan will be directing the film, which has been planned as a comedy entertainer.

‘Arakkallan Mukkakallan’ is scripted by Sajeer Bhava. Soubin along with Dileesh Pothan play the lead roles. The two actors have shared worked together in several films in the past, so they share a great rapport. Hareesh Kanaran and Surabhi Lakshmi are also part of the cast. Haseeb Haneef is jointly producing the film with Shweta Karthik, Yunus Aliyar and VS Haider Ali.

Meanwhile, Soubin has some promising films lined up. ‘Trance’, ‘Android Kunjappan’, ‘Jack and Jill’, ‘Joothan’, ‘Vikruthi’ and an untitled film with Aashiq Abu are his upcoming films.

We hear that the movie has been titled as ‘Helen’ and it will be directed by debutant Mathukutty Xavier. The titular role in the movie will be played by Anna Ben of ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ fame. Noble Babu Thomas, who was one of the producers of ‘Jacobinte Swargarajyam’, has been cast as the male lead. More details regarding the cast and crew members is expected to be revealed today along with the first look poster.

Shooting seems to Ajith’s latest field of interest. Last day, the actor participated at the 45th Tamil Nadu State shooting championship competition, held in Coimbatore. The actor participated in the 10-metre air pistol and 50-metre free pistol competition. He has qualified for the next round in the 10m Air pistol event. As soon as news about him participating in the event broke, huge number fans thronged the venue where the competition was held.

On the professional front, Ajith has his new film ‘Nerkonda Paarvai’ gearing up for release on August 10. The H Vinoth directorial is the official remake of acclaimed Hindi film ‘Pink’. Ajith has also committed his next with H Vinoth, which is scheduled to begin by August end.

After the sensational success of the song ‘Njan Jackson Allada’, the makers of ‘Ambili’ have released the second track online. Titled ‘Aaradhike’, the song is rendered by Sooraj Santhosh & Madhuvanthi Narayan. Vishnu Vijayan has composed it and lyrics is penned by Vinayak Sasikumar.

‘Ambili’ is directed by John Paul George, whose debut film ‘Guppy’ was a critically acclaimed one. As per reports, ‘Ambili’ is a road film that has been shot in various states across the country. Soubin Shahir plays the titular role. Nazriya Nazim’s younger brother Naveen Nazim and debutante Tanvi Ram will be seen in other major roles.

Sharan Velayudhan, a noted cinematographer in the ad film industry, has wielded the camera for this movie. Vishnu Vijay, who won the State award for ‘Guppy’, has been retained for ‘Ambili’ as well. Kiran Das is handling the edits. Mukesh R Mehta, AV Anoop and CV Sarathy are jointly producing the movie under the banner of E4 Entertainment. Release date has not yet been announced.

Apparently, Maala Parvathy was shooting for the Kalidas Jayaram starrer ‘Happy Sardar’, when she complained about the lack of basic facilities in the location. However, the movie’s producer reacted disgracefully in an unethical language. Thanks to the timely intervention of her co-star Siddique and other senior personalities from within the film industry, the issue was resolved quickly. Maala Parvathy has informed that all the issues have been settled and that she doesn’t want to make a big deal out of it.

‘Happy Sardar’ marks the debut of writer-director couple Sudip Joshy and Geethika Sudip. Bollywood actor Javed Jaffrey, Siddique, Sreenath Bhasi, Balu Varghese, Shanthi Krishna, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Siddhi Mahajankatti, Vishak Nair, Ramesh Pisharody, Dharmajan, Praveena, Baiju and many others are part of the cast. It is being produced jointly by Achicha Cinemas and Malayalam Movie Makers.

Rambo actress Paz Vega to star in Mohanlal’s Barroz

Even before going on floors, there is a huge hype surrounding Mohanlal’s directorial debut film ‘Barroz’. As informed by the makers, it is an ambitious fantasy film that has been planned on a grand scale. Mohanlal has announced that Spanish actors Rafael Amargo and Paz Vega will be part of the cast. The latter is an award-winning actress well known her performances in films like credits include Sex and Lucia, Spanglish, 10 Items or Less and All Roads Lead to Rome. She is also part of the upcoming Sylvester Stallone starrer ‘Rambo: Last Blood’.

‘Barroz’ is written by Jijo Punnoose, the visionary filmmaker who made India’s first 3D film ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’. It is the story of Barroz, a mythical figure who was the guardian of Vasco da Gama’s valuable treasures for 400 years. In Mohanlal’s own words, “Barroz is set against the backdrop of the maritime history of Portugal, Spain, India and Africa. It is about the shared heritage that we inherited from our ancestors.”

Besides directing the film, Mohanlal is also playing the titular character. Rafael Amargo will be essaying Vasco Da Gama’s part in the film. Since it is a global story, several other foreign actors are expected to be part of the movie’s cast.

Antony Perumbavoor is producing ‘Barroz’ under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. The makers have signed KU Mohanan signed as the cinematographer and 13-year-old child prodigy Lydian Nadhaswaram to compose music. The movie has been planned to be shot in exotic locations in Goa, Portugal and some other foreign countries. Pre-production works have already commenced and the movie is set to start rolling in October. Apart from Malayalam, it will be dubbed and released in all major Indian languages.
