Here’s the trailer of Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi

As we had reported earlier, Kangana Ranaut is starring in the biopic based on the life of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. The movie titled as Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is gearing up for release next month. The movie’s official trailer was released a while back in social medias. The trailer looks highly promising and has all the elements of an epic war film. Radha Krishna Jagarlamundi is directing the movie and is scripted by KV Vijayendra Prasad, the writer of ‘Baahubali’ series.

The trailer shows how India was a successful nation till the Brtish invasion. As they try to conquer Jhansi, queen Manikarnika, decides to fight for her motherland. The trailer has Kangana as a fierce sword wielding warrior. The two-time National award winning actress has put in lot of efforts for the movie. To play the character of Rani Laxmi Bhai, she had undergone training in horse riding, sword fighting and basic martial arts.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi stars TV actress Ankita Lokhande as Jhalkaribai. The movie has Atul Kulkarni as Tatya Tope, Suresh Oberoi in the role of Peshwa Bajirao and Jisshu Sengupta will essay the character of Gangadhar Rao. Jishu Sengupta, Danny Denzongappa, Zeeshan Ayub and many others are also part of the supporting cast.

Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi is scheduled to hit screens worldwide on 25th Jan 2019, a day before the Republic Day.

Last day, new poster of ‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ was released in social medias. The movie has Asif Ali and Aishwarya Lekshmi in the lead roles. The newly released poster features the lead pair along with actors like Devan, Siddique, Aju Varghese, KPAC Lalitha, Renji Panicker, Shanthi Krishna, Darshana Rajendran, Balu Varghese and Joseph Annamukutty Jose.

‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ marks director Jis Joy’s third successive film with Asif Ali after ‘Bicycles Thieves’ and ‘Sunday Holiday’. According to him, the movie will be socially relevant with a good message in it. He has scripted the movie with prominence to humour, friendship, romance and family sentiments.

‘Vijay Superum Pournamiyum’ technical crew comprises of DOP Renadive of ‘CIA’ fame, editor Ratheesh Raj and debutant music director Prince George. AK Sunil is producing the movie under the banner of New Surya Films. It is slated to hit screens early next year. Exact release date has not yet been announced.

As we already know, director RS Vimal of ‘Ennu Ninte Moideen’ fame is teaming up with Vikram for an ambitious film on the mythological figure Karnan. The movie titled ‘Mahavir Karna’ has been planned as a bilingual in Hindi and Tamil, and will later be dubbed to other languages. The makers are planning to go on floors by January. Prior to that, a global launch has been planned where the cast and crew will be announced. A New York based production house United Film Kingdom is backing this film.

Since it is a mega-budget project, it is most likely to have several top stars from Indian cinema and Hollywood as part of the cast. Latest buzz is that Malayali actor Suresh Gopi has been signed to play a major role in the movie. It is worth a mention that Suresh Gopi had recently acted with Vikram in ‘I’. The former was also present for the pooja ceremony of ‘Mahavir Karna’, which was held in Sree Padmanabha Swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram.

RS Vimal has scripted ‘Mahavir Karna’ based on the Indian epic Mahabharatha. The movie will be a retelling of the Mahabharatha from Karnan’s point of view. The epic has scope for several prominent characters and it will be interesting to see what role Suresh Gopi will be playing. Meanwhile, Vikram is in the process of undergoing a physical transformation for the film. Since his character Karna is a warrior, the actor is developing a ripped physique besides training in horse riding and other related activities.

Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham to be wrapped up in a single schedule of 100 days!

As reported by us earlier, shoot for ‘Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham’ is progressing at a brisk pace in Ramoji Rao Film City, Hyderabad. The period flick helmed by Priyadarshan went on floors earlier this month. Major portions of the movie will be shot in the film city. Lead actor Mohanlal joined the team only recently. As per reports, the makers are planning to wrap up the entire shoot in a single schedule lasting 100 days.

If things go as per plans, entire shoot will be completed by next March. Director Priyadarshan had revealed that the movie will be hitting screens only in 2020 as the movie demands extensive post-production. According to him, maximum attention will be given to the post-production works, which will be mostly done abroad.

Marakkar: Arabikadalinte Simham is an epic movie is based on the life of Kunjali Marakkar IV. Kunjali Marakkar was the title given to the naval chief of Zamorin of Calicut in the 16th century, whose duty was to protect the coast against the invading Portuguese army. Priyadarshan and IV Sasi’s son Ani Sasi have scripted the movie.

Mohanlal plays the lead character of the fourth Marakkar and his son Pranav is essaying the younger part of his character. Though the makers are yet to make an official announcement, reports suggest that the cast comprises of Arjun Sarja, Suniel Shetty, Mukesh, Madhu, Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Manju Warrier and Pooja Kumar. Few British and Chinese actors will also be seen in the movie.

Production designer Sabu Cyril, cinematographer Tirru and editor MS Ayyappan Nair are part of the technical crew. Said to be the biggest Malayalam film in terms of production values, Marakkar.. has been planned to be made on a budget of around Rs 100 crores. Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas, Confident Group and Moonshot Entertainment are coming together for its production.

‘Yatra’ director Mahi Raghav’s next is with Vishal and Nani

Director Mahi V Raghav, who is currently busy with the post-production works of the YSR biopic, ‘Yatra’, will next helm a multi-starrer. If reports are to be believed, the movie will have Nani and Vishal in the lead roles. Both the actors have been impressed by the storyline and have agreed to come together for the film. Reports suggest that the two actors will be appearing in never-before-seen roles in the movie. It has been planned as a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. Prasad V Potluri will be producing the movie under the banner of PVP Cinema.

Mahvi Raghav is well known for helming films like ‘Paathshala’ and ‘Anando Brahma’. His upcoming movie ‘Yatra’ starring Malayalam superstar Mammootty is highly anticipated by the South Indian audience. Shoot for the movie has already been wrapped up. The movie was initially planned for release on December 21, but it could not materialize. The makers recently announced that it will be hitting screens worldwide on February 8.

U certificate for Tovino’s Ente Ummante Peru!

As we had reported earlier, Tovino Thomas starrer ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ is slated for Christmas release. The movie directed by debutant Jose Sebastian has Tovino playing the lead along with veteran actress Urvasi. Last day, the movie was censored with a clean U certificate. Tovino saw the fun side of it and wrote in his social media handle that it is after a long gap that one his films has got a U certificate. He welcomed all families to theatres to watch the movie.

As the title, ‘Ente Ummante Peru’, suggests, the movie explores a heartwarming mother-son relationship. It has Tovino playing Hameed, an average Muslim youngster from Malabar who runs an antique shop. Form the teaser, we could make out that Hameed is on the look out for his mother, whom he has never seen in his entire life. The movie traces his journey to find his mother and from the teaser, we presume it is told in a very enjoyable manner.

‘Ente Ummante Peru’ is scripted jointly by Jose Sebastian and Sarath R Nair. The movie has newcomer Saipriya as Tovino’s pair. Shanthi Krishna, Dileesh Pothan, Hareesh Kanaran, Siddique and Mammukoya are also part of the supporting cast. On the technical front, Spain-born Jordi Plannel Closa is the cinematographer and Gopi Sunder handles the music department. Mahesh Narayanan is the editor.

The movie is being produced jointly by Anto Jospeh Film Company and Al Tari Movies. It is all set to hit screens on December 21. Tovino’s Tamil film, ‘Maari 2’ is also set for release on the same day.

Anoop Menon and director Ranjith have been signed to play the lead roles in VK Prakash’s next. The movie has been titled as ‘King Fish’ and its title poster was shared last day in social medias. Ratheesh Vega, who composed the songs in VKP’s ‘Beautiful’, will be handling the music department in this movie as well. Amjith S Koya is producing the movie under the banner of Texas Film Factory. Shoot is expected to commence early next year.

Anoop Menon and VK Prakash have previously collaborated in the acclaimed ‘Beautiful’ and ‘Trivandrum Lodge’. Both the films were scripted by Anoop Menon. After a brief hiatus, he made his comeback as a writer this year with ‘Ente Mezhuthiri Athazhangal’. The movie was noted and emerged as an average grosser at the box office.

With ‘King Fish’, Ranjith and VK Prakash are teaming up for the first time. Though Ranjith has acted in a few films before, he is a very reluctant actor. He was last seen in a major role in Anjali Menon’s ‘Koode’. His performance in the movie was widely appreciated.

‘Petta’ has an incredible star cast, probably the biggest in Tamil cinema in recent years. Vijay Sethupathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan and Megha Akash are playing major roles alongside Rajinikanth. Guru Somasundaram, Munishkanth Ramdoss, Manikandan Achari, Sanath Reddy, Deepak Paramesh and ‘Aadukalam’ Naren will be seen in supporting roles.

Reportedly, the movie has Rajinikanth playing the role of a hostel warden, who has a lesser known gangster like dark past. Sasikumar’s character appears in the flashback portions. Vijay Sethupathi and Nawazuddin are reportedly playing the antagonists. ‘Petta’ teaser and songs have got tremendous reception and the movie is expected to be a huge blockbuster.

Kalanithi Maran is producing movie under the banner of Sun Pictures. It has been a scheduled for a Pongal release in January, but the exact date has not yet been revealed.

‘Baahubali’ star Prabhas has been working on for his new film, ‘Saaho’ for nearly a year now. The movie directed by Sujeeth is a high octane action thriller made on an international scale. The makers have announced that the movie will be hitting screens on August 15, 2019. With the kind of popularity that Prabhas enjoys nationwide, the movie will be getting a massive release across the world.

‘Saaho’ is being made as a trilingual in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil languages. Bollywood diva Shraddha Kapoor is playing the female lead. In an attempt to give a pan Indian appeal, the movie has actors from various industries as part of its cast. .Jackie Shroff, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Chunky Pandey, Mandira Bedi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Arun Vijay, Lal and Tinnu Anand are playing prominent roles in the movie.

If reports are to be believed, a whopping Rs 300 crore is being invested on ‘Saaho’, of which Rs 90 crore is spent on the action sequences alone. Popular stuntman Kenny Bates, who has worked in several Hollywood films, is choreographing the stunts in this movie. The technical crew includes DOP Madhie, composer trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy and VFX supervisor Kamalakannan.

Dhruv Vikram’s Varma to hit screens on Valentine’s Day

As we already know, Vikram’s son Dhruv is making his acting debut with the remake of the 2017 Telugu blockbuster, ‘Arjun Reddy’. The Tamil version titled ‘Varma’ has debutante Megha Chowdhury playing the female lead. National Award winner Bala is directing the movie. As per latest reports, the makers are planning to release the movie on Valentine’s Day, but an official word is still awaited.

‘Arjun Reddy’ directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga had Vijay Deverakonda and Shalini Pandey in the lead roles. It is the story of an impulsive medical surgeon who falls madly in love with his college junior. He becomes alcoholic post break-up and the rest of the story is about how he redeems himself. Vijay Deverakonda’s stellar performance was widely talked about.

When the movie gets a Tamil version, there is a huge challenge ahead of Dhruv as comparisons are bound to be made with Deverakonda. Director Bala who is known his intense films is trying something different for the first time. The movie’s teaser had also got good reception in social medias.

‘Varma’ is the maiden Tamil production venture of Mollywood’s leading banner, E4 Entertainment.
