Ente Ummante Peru will be one of the finest films in Tovino’s career: Urvashi

Debutant director Jose Sebastian’s ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ is all set to hit screens this Friday (December 21). The movie has Tovino Thomas and veteran actress Urvasi in the lead roles. As the title suggests, the movie traces a beautiful mother-son bonding. Urvashi, who is making a comeback to Malayalam after a brief gap is all praise for her co-star Tovino. She firmly believes that this will be one of the best films in his career.

Jose Sebastian has scripted ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ jointly with Sarath R Nair. It has Tovino playing Hameed, an average Muslim youngster from Malabar who runs an antique shop. The narrative follows the journey of Hameed, who is on the look out for his mother, whom he has never seen in his entire life. Though the subject is very emotional in nature, it is told in a very enjoyable manner.

Both Tovino and Urvashi committed for this film long back but it couldn’t materialize due to various reaons. Despite all that, they have pinned high hopes on the movie as they believe it has the potential to do well, especially among the families. It also stars newcomer Saipriya, Shanthi Krishna, Dileesh Pothan, Hareesh Kanaran, Siddique and Mammukoya.

Music director Gopi Sunder, editor Mahesh Narayanan and Spain-born cinematographer Jordi Plannel Closa form the technical crew. The movie is being produced jointly by Anto Jospeh Film Company and Al Tari Movies.

Vijay Sethupathi and Rajinikanth coming together on screen was a stuff of dreams for Tamil movie lovers and director Karthik Subbaraj has made into a reality. His ‘Petta’ is arguably the most awaited Tamil movie of next year. The movie probably has the biggest star cast that Tamil cinema has seen in the recent past. While Rajinikanth plays the lead role, Vijay Sethupathi is cast opposite him as the villain. Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sasikumar, Bobby Simha, Simran, Trisha, Malavika Mohanan, Sasikumar and Megha Akash, Mahendran will also be seen in major roles.

‘Petta’ has Vijay Sethupathi as Jithu, who is pitted opposite Rajinikanth’s Kaali. About working with the superstar, the former says it was like an acting class. He is quoted saying, “When doing a negative role against someone as big as Rajini, you need to process things fast. You need to understand what he’s doing and react accordingly. Working with him was like a class in acting.”

‘Petta’ is touted to be an action packed mass entertainer. Rajinikanth is said to be playing the role of a college hostel warden who has a dark past as a don. The storyline is highly exciting and fans are expecting to see a full on ‘thalaivar’ show. With the promising teaser and posters, the pre-release buzz has been amazing. Anirudh’s songs have already turned into sensational chartbusters.

Kalanithi Maran is producing Petta under the banner of Sun Pictures. It is scheduled to hit screens for Pongal in January. Exact release date has not yet been announced.

Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’ is set to go on floors next month. Directed by Shankar, the movie is the sequel to the 1996 hit, ‘Indian’. Kamal is reprising his role of Senapathi, a freedom fighter-turned-vigilante, in the sequel. Along with him, Nedumudi Venu is also reprising his role from the first part. Director Shankar confirmed this in a recent interview. Venu played the role of an investigating officer in ‘Indian’ and the veteran’s performance was noted. Actor Nasser dubbed for his character in the movie.

‘Indian 2’ has Kajal Agarwal as the female lead. The actress has already started training in Kalaripayattu for the movie. Though several other names are doing the rounds, the makers are yet to announce the cast officially. Shankar is scripting the movie and dialogues are being penned by Jeyamohan, Kabilan Vairmuthu and Lakshmi Saravanakumar. Production designer Muthuraj, cinematographer Ravi Varman and composer Anirudh are part of the technical crew.

Lyca Productions is funding this big budget movie.

Director Shankar, fondly called as the Spielberg of Indian cinema, has always had the highest regard for Malayalam film industry and its actors. It must be noted that most of his blockbuster films have had a Malayali presence. Vineeth, Nedumudi Venu, Cochin Haneefa, Kalabhavan Mani and Suresh Gopi some of the Malayali actors who have starred in Shankar’s films. More recently, Kalabhavan Shajon had also played a brief cameo role in 2.0.

In a recent interview, director Shankar opened up about his love for Malayalam movies. When asked about the ones he liked recently, the ace filmmaker mentioned ‘Premam’ and ‘Angamaly Diaries’. Apparently, the director was amazed by the craft in these films. It is quite a proud moment to know that such a celebrated filmmaker like him is keeping a track on Malayalam cinema.

Both ‘Premam’ and ‘Angamaly Diaries’ were hugely successful, critically and commercially. The smashing success of these films made heads turn and take notice of the industry. Interestingly, Shankar had recently met Premam’s director Alphonse Puthren during the post-production works of 2.0. They both had a brief chat and Alphonse had also shared a photo taken with his idol.

Vijay Sethupathi’s long delayed ‘Seethakathi’ is all set to hit screens tomorrow. The makers had an exclusive show last day for the press people. The response has been extremely positive with unanimous praise for Vijay Sethupathi’s performance, music and the director’s attempt to come up with something unique. The movie is directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan, who has previously helmed Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom’.

‘Seethakaathi’ is a film about theatre artists and their lives. The movie has Vijay Setupathi playing a legendary actor Ayya, and he appears in multiple looks in the film. Oscar Award-winning make up artist Kevin Haney has designed his looks in the movie. From the trailer, we get to know that Ayya, who is a famous theatre artist and a cine actor. Due to some unknown reasons, he is unwilling to attend shoots of his already committed projects. We will have to wait till tomorrow to know more about the movie.

‘Seethakaathi’ is a special for Vijay Sethupathi as it is his 25th film and Ayya is said to be one of the most challenging roles in his career. After the press show we have come to know that the actor has a screen time of only around 40 minutes in the movie. According to him, that 40 minutes is the film. The rest of the movie will be the reaction to that impact. The subject will be commercial, but not in the same style you’re used to in cinema. Along with Vijay Sethupathi, the cast also includes Archana, J Mahendran, Bagavathy Perumal, Rajkumar, Parvatii Nair and Remya Nambeesan.

Govind Vasantha, best known his work in ’96’, is the music director. Saraskanth is the DOP and R Govindraj, the edior. The movie is being produced jointly by Sudhan Sundaram, Umesh, Jayaram and Arun Vaidyanathan under the banner of Passion Studios.

Yatra, the YSR biopic starring Malayalam superstar Mammootty is eagerly awaited, not just by the Telugu speaking audience, but also Malayalis. It has been a while since Mammootty has played a challenging role of this kind and hence expectations are high. The movie which was initially planned for release in December, is now scheduled for February 8. As part of promotions, a new teaser will be released this Friday (December 21).

YS Rajasekhara Reddy aka YSR is arguably the most popular and revered politician that the state of Andhra Pradesh has ever seen. Even after his demise, he is still regarded as a people’s leader and respected by millions. ‘Yatra’ directed by Mahi V Raghav is not an usual biopic film. It primarily focuses on the time during YSR’s famous three-month-long padayatra in 2003, which was a changing point in his political career.

From the posters and the first teaser, Mammootty looks extremely convincing as the late leader and fans are already excited. Apart from him, the movie also stars Rao Ramesh, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Suhasini Mani Ratnam, Posani Krishna Murali, Vinod Kumar and Sachin Khedekar. Shashi Devi Reddy are jointly producing the movie under their banner of 70MM Entertainments.

After the intriguing teaser that gave glimpses of a heartwarming tale, the makers of ‘Ente Ummante Peru’ have released the lyric video of the first song in social medias. The song titled ‘Neer Kanikayil’ is composed and rendered by Gopi Sunder. BK Harinarayanan has penned the lyrics for this romantic track.

The highly anticipated Nivin Pauly starter Mikhael is gearing up to hit screens in January. Haneef Adeni of ‘The Great Father’ fame is directing the movie, which is touted to be a family oriented thriller. While Nivin plays the lead role of a doctor, Unni Mukundan will be seen as the antagonist. His character is named Marco Jr and it is said to be a very powerful part. The makers have been tight-lipped about the nature of his role, which has naturally raised the curiosity. Unni’s character introduction poster will be released on December 21.

‘Mikhael’ is eagerly awaited as Haneef Adeni’s earlier two works, ‘The Great Father’ and ‘Abrahaminte Santhathikal’ (scriptwriter), were hugely successful at the box office. The director is noted for his stylish filmmaking and from the promos ‘Mikhael’ also promises to be on similar lines. Manjima Mohan, JD Chakravarthy, Siddique, Renji Panicker, Ashokan, Shanthi Krishna, Kalabhavan Shajon and KPAC Lalitha are part of movie’s supporting cast.

Ever since the demise of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, there have been plans to make a biopic on her celebrated life. Already 3 filmmakers – AL Vijay, Bharathiraja and Priyadarshini have announced their projects. While the above mentioned three are feature films, director Gautham Menon has now revealed his plans to make a web series based on the late actress-turned-political leader.

According to reports, the 30-episode-series will have veteran actress Ramya Krishnan as Jayalalithaa. It must be noted that Ramya had earlier expressed her interest to act in Jayalalithaa biopic. She has also worked with Gautham Menon in ‘Kaakha Kaakha’, in which she appears in song sequence. This upcoming project is being planned as a web series as it will be very difficult to capture Jayalalithaa’s illustrious life in a 3 hour long movie. A leading production house is behind the project, and an official announcement is awaited shortly.

Gautham Menon meanwhile has two films to be completed. ‘Enai Nokki Paayum Thotta’ with Dhanush and ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’ with Vikram have been in the making for a long time now. The director has not had a release for over two years now. He will be hoping to finish the pending works soon and move on to his ambitious web series project.

As we had reported earlier, ‘Kismath’ director Shanavas K Bavakutty’s next has Vinayakan in the lead. The movie titled as ‘Thottappan’ is based on the book of the same name by Francis Noronha. First look poster of the movie was released last day in social medias. The movie marks Vinayakan’s debut as a lead actor and he plays a girl child’s godfather (thalathottappan).

After his phenomenal performance in Rajeev Ravi’s ‘Kammattipadam’, for which he also won the State Award, Vinayakan has been very selective with his projects. ‘Thottappan’ looks very promising and director Shanavas firmly believes that Vinayakan has put up his best performance so far. The movie explores the relationship of a godfather and his goddaughter.

PS Rafeeque has written the movie’s screenplay based on Francis Noronha’s story. Along with Vinayakan, the movie also has newcomer Priyamvada, Lal, Roshan Mathew, Manoj K Jayan, Dileesh Pothan, Reghunath Paleri, Kochu Preman and Pauly Valsan as part of the cast.

In the technical crew, Suresh Rajan is handling the camera and Jithin Manohar is in charge of the edits. Leela L Girikkuttan is composing the songs and Justin Varghese is handling the background score. Devadas Kadanjeri and Shailaja Manikandan are producing the movie under the banner of Pattam Cinema Company.
