Dulquer Salmaan plays a local painter in Oru Yamadan Premakatha!

As reported by us recently, Dulquer Salmaan has started shooting for Dulquer Salmaan, who recently upcoming Malayalam movie, Oru Yamandan Premakatha. The movie is being directed by debutant BC Noufal, who has previously helmed many TV shows. Bibin George and Vishnu Unnikrishnan are scripting the movie, which is touted to be a complete commercial entertainer.

Dulquer Salmaan is playing the role of a local painter in this movie. The actor, who in the early days of his career was mostly associated with urban guy-next-door roles, has consciously been doing a variety of roles lately. Taking up the role of a local chap in Oru Yamadan Premakatha (OYP) can be seen as an extension to his efforts to not get typecast.

Just like Vishnu Unnikrishnan-Bibin George duo’s previous films, Amar Akbar Anthony and Kattapanayile Rithwik Roshan, OYP is also said to be a mass comedy entertainer. The story is reportedly set in the familiar terrain of Fort Kochi and Mattanchery. Malayali audience can expect to see an unseen fun side of Dulquer in this movie. Besides scripting, Vishnu and Bibin are also playing crucial roles in the movie.

The makers are currently on the look for a newbie to be cast as Dulquer’s heroine in the movie. Soubin Shahir, Ramesh Pisharody and Salim Kumar are also part of the supporting cast. P Sukumar is cranking the camera and the multi-talented Nadirshah will be handling the music department.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali to remake Pulimurugan in Hindi

Mohanlal’s Pulimurugan, released in 2016, is the highest grossing Malayalam movie of all time. Talks about the movie getting remade in other languages have been doing the rounds for a long time. But nothing seemed to materialize. Latest buzz is that ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali has bagged the movie’s remake rights and is planning to helm the Hindi version.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali, a multiple National award winner, is known for his larger than life films. His last few films like Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmavaat were all epic-period flicks made on huge scale. With the Pulimurugan, the director is stepping out of his comfort zone to attempt something which he has not done before.

Pulimurugan is basically a man versus wild story centred around a wild hunter who is known for killing man-eating tigers. Vysakh directed the movie, which was scripted by Udhayakrishna. Upon its release in 2016, the movie went on to become a massive blockbuster doing a worldwide business of over 100 crores. Pulimurugan is till date the only 100 crore grosser in Malayalam cinema.

As per reports, Bhansali approached Hrithik Roshan to play the lead in the Hindi version but the actor turned it down. The director now is on the lookout for another suitable actor who can play the role. It will be interesting to see who from Bollywood can reprise Mohanlal’s role from the original.

Asif Ali’s next titled Vijay Superum Pournamiyum went on floors last week. Jis Joy is directing this movie, his third with Asif after Bicycle Thieves and Sunday Holidays. Aishwarya Lekshmi, who won hearts with her performance in Mayaanadhi, is paired with Asif in this movie. AK Sunil is producing the movie under the banner of New Surya Films.

According to Jis Joy, Vijay Superum Pournmaiyum, unlike his earlier films, will be a socially reverent one with a strong message in it. The director himself has scripted the movie with good dose of humour, friendship, romance and family sentiments. The movie has Asif playing an engineering graduate while Aishwarya plays his friend, Pournami, an MBA student.

The makers had initially signed Mamta Mohandas to play the female lead but she opted out due to some unknown reason. Aishwarya Lekshmi’s performance in Njandukalude Naatil Oridavela and Mayaanadhi has helped her bag this role. Asif and Aishwarya are teaming up for the first time, so their on-screen chemistry will be a refreshing one.

Vijay Superum Pournmaiyum also stars Siddique, Renji Panicker, Shanthi Krishna and KPAC Lalitha, Balu Varghese, Arjun Ashokan and Aju Varghese in supporting roles. Its technical crew includes cinematographer Ranadive of ‘CIA’ fame, editor Ratheesh and music director Prince. Shoot for the movie is currently progressing in Kochi. Goa is another major location.

Dulquer Salmaan, who recently returned back from the US, has reportedly started shooting for his next movie in Malayalam. The movie titled as Oru Yamandan Pranayakatha is directed by debutant BC Noufal, who has previously helmed many TV shows. The superhit writer duo of Bibin George and Vishnu Unnikrishnan are scripting it. Anto Joseph is producing the movie under his banner Anto Joseph Film Company.

The makers had initially planned to start shooting in February but it had to be pushed due to Dulquer’s packed schedule.

An official announcement with the title and other details regarding the full cast and crew members is expected to be made very soon.

Ever since its release on June 28, the movie has been winning over the critics and commoners alike. Ranbir Kapoor’s stunning performance backed by adept direction from the hit-maker Raj Kumar Hirani has worked wonders for Sanju.

Even before its release, the movie garnered a lot of buzz for Ranbir Kapoor’s striking resemblance to Sanjay Dutt. Since the movie traverses through different timelines, Ranbir appears in multiple looks in the movie. Since Sanjay Dutt is a popular star who is still in the limelight, it was a huge challenge for Ranbir to achieve the various looks.

A 6 minute-long making video of how Ranbir went through the physical transformation has been released today in social medias. In the video, Ranbir Kapoor, Hirani and producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra share their experience working on the movie. Ranbir was initially apprehensive of doing the movie as he felt he could not emulate the charismatic Sanjay Dutt on screen.

The video also features how Ranbir toiled hard in the gym and the prosthetics team working on him to get the aged look right. This making video shows the kind of hardwork and efforts put in, not just by Ranbir but the whole of team Sanju.

As informed earlier in the day by us, the much awaited teaser of Odiyan has been released. Mohanlal, with his moustache less look, features in the one minute long teaser. Through the teaser, the makers have also announced that the movie will hit screens on October 11.

Odiyan is unarguably one of the most awaited Malayalam movies of the year. Ad filmmaker VA Shrikumar Menon is making his directorial debut with the movie. National award winner Harikrishnan has scripted it based on the life of odiyans. People who practice ‘odividya’ are called ‘odiyans’. Odiyans lived in mediveal Kerala and this movie is set in three different timelines from pre-electricty days in the 1950s to 2000.

Mohanlal plays the role of odiyan Manikyan in the movie. Prakash Raj plays the antagonist Ravunni while Manju Warrier is there in a crucial role as Prabha. Narain, Innocent, Kailas, Sana Althaf, Siddique and Nandu are also part of the supporting cast.

Odiyan’s technical crew includes cinematographer Shaji Kumar, editor Johnkutty, action choreographer Peter Hein, art director Prashanth Madhav and composers M Jayachandran and Sam CS (background score). Antony Perumbavoor is producing this big budget movie under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas.

Anjali Menon’s much talked about comeback movie Koode is gearing up to hit screens. The movie which was censored recently is reportedly slated for release on July 14. As the release date is nearing, the makers have released a new song from the movie. Titled as Paranne, this is a fun peppy track set around a campus music concert. Composer Raghu Dixit has sung the track with Benny Dayal and lyrics are written by Rafeeq Ahamed.

Nazriya Nazim, Roshan Mathew, Sidharth Menon and Darshana Rajendran feature in the song video. Koode is an eagerly awaited movie as it marks the comeback of both director Anjali Menon and Nazriya Nazim after a four year long gap. Along with them are Prithviraj and Parvathy which altogether forms a dream team.

According to Anjali Menon, Koode is a heartwarming tale of relationships. Prithviraj and Nazriya play siblings in the movie. Director Ranjith and Maala Parvathy essay their parents’ roles. The movie has a good pre-release buzz in social medias. Earlier, the makers had released two songs, Aararo and Minnaminni, from the movie. Both the songs were well received by music lovers.

M Jayachandran and Rahul Dixit have composed the songs. Littil Swayamp, who made a spendid debut with Parava, is the DOP and Praveen Prabhakar handles the edits. M Renjith’s Rejaputhra Visual Media is producing this movie in association with Little Films India.

Confirmed: Baahubali prequel is on its way!!

Baahubali is a landmark movie in Indian cinema history. The two-part franchise made by SS Rajamouli went on to become hugely successful all across the globe. The popularity enjoyed by the series and its characters is second to none. Though the Baahubali series has ended on big screen, the stories of Mahishmati kingdom continues to be told through various books, games and animation shows.

Online streaming giant Netflix has now announced a huge project based on Baahubali. They are making a three-season show titled Shivagami, which will be the prequel of Baahubali. The show has been planned to be made on a grand scale with a whopping budget of 2 million dollars per episode. It will be co-directed by SS Rajamouli and Deva Katta.

Shivagami, the show is based on Anand Neelakanth’s book ‘The Rise of Sivagami’. Inspired by the Baahubali series, Anand made a spin-off of the same with Shivagami as the central character. Its story is set in the era prior to Baahubali : The Beginning as it traces the journey of queen Shivagami. Ramya Krishnan delivered a majestic performance as Rajamata Shivagami in the movie series.

The Netflix show’s makers have not yet announced who will be playing Shivagami’s role. Needless to say, it will be a big challenge for anyone to emulate Ramya Krishnan’s perfomance from the original. More details regarding the other cast and when the shoot commences are expected to be announced shortly.

As informed by us earlier, the first look poster of Kayamkulam Kochunni has been released today. Nivin Pauly, who plays the titular role, features in the poster. The actor has undergone a remarkable makeover to achieve Kochunni’s look. Rosshan Andrrews is directing this movie and Gokulam Gopalan is producing it under his banner Sri Gokulam Films. The movie has been planned as a grand Onam release in August.

Bobby and Sanjay have scripted the movie based on the life of legendary highwayman Kochunni, who was active in the 18th century in Travancore region. Superstar Mohanlal plays an extended cameo in the movie as Ithikkara Pakki, who is regarded as the first Robin Hood of Kerala. Sunny Wayne, Shine Tom Chacko, Priya Anand, Babu Antony, Aneesh G Menon, Amit Chakalakkal and Kannada actress Ashwini are also part of the cast.

Since it is a period flick set in the pre-independence era, the movie has high production values. Art department led by Vaishnavi Reddy had erected around sets worth 10 crores for the movie. Shoot lasted for for over 161 days in multiple schedules. Kochi, Mangalore, Udupi, Goa, Palakkad and Sri Lanka were the main locations.

The movie’s technical crew boasts of some big wigs like Bollywood cinematographer Binod Pradhan, multiple national award winning editor Sreekar Prasad and renowned sound designer PM Satheesh. Creative Studio, who handled the VFX in films like Baahubali and Enthiran, are on board for Kayamkulam Kochunni as well. Gopi Sunder is in charge of the music department.
