Here’s a new poster from Mammootty’s Uncle!!

The eagerly awaited Mammootty starrer Uncle is reportedly gearing up to hit screens by the end of this month. After the excellent response for the teaser, the makers have released a new poster from the movie. Actor Joy Mathew has scripted Uncle, which marks the directorial debut of Gireesh Damodar, a former associate of Ranjith and Padmakumar.

Uncle is Joy Mathew’s second outing as a scriptwriter after the critically acclaimed ‘Shutter’. Just like his previous movie, Uncle will also be a socially relevant film. It is the story of a 17-year-old girl and her dad’s friend. CIA fame Karthika Muraleedharan and Mammootty play these two lead roles in the movie.

Reportedly, the core plot is set in the journey of Mammootty’s character Krishnakumar aka KK from Ooty to Kozhikode. He is accompanied by his friend’s daugther in this trip. It is about an unusual situation a middle class family is made to face. The social and political setting of Kerala is of much prominence in the movie.

Mammootty will be seen in a different role altogether in the movie. He is sporting a salt and pepper bearded look for his character, which is said to be a grey shaded one. Expectations are high for this movie among the audience since Mammootty is playing such a performance-oriented character after a long gap.

Uncle also stars Joy Mathew, Muthumani, Asha Sharath, Vinay Forrt, Suresh Krishna, Kailash, KPAC Lalitha and Sheela in supporting roles. Its technical crew includes veteran cinematographer Azhagappan, composer Bijibal and editor Shameer Muhammed.

Joy Mathew and Sajai Sebastian are jointly funding the movie under their banners of Abra Films International and SJ Films.

The much hyped Kammara Sambhavam is all set for release on Vishu day (April 14). The movie starring Dileep and Siddharth in the lead roles is gearing up for release amidst tremendous hype created by the teaser and the posters. Murali Gopy has scripted the movie which marks the directorial debut of ad filmmaker Rathish Ambat. This epic film set in three different timelines focuses on historical accounts and how it is depicted by the ones who wrote it.

Murali Gopy, the writer has assured that Kammara Sambhavam will be a never-before-seen cinematic experience for the Malayali audience. According to him, the movie is a mix genre attempt that touches on fiction, period elements, satire and black humour. It is made on a massive scale with high production values and a huge star cast.

Dileep is said to have given his career best for the role of Kammaran Nambiar. Sporting three different looks, including a 90-year-old one, Kammaran is the most challenging role that the actor has done in his two decade long career. Along with him there is the highly talented Siddharth making his Malayalam debut. For his role of Othenan Nambiar, Siddharth took the extra effort of learning the language and dubbed all by himself.

Namita Pramod, Bobby Simha, Shwetha Menon, Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, Indrans and Siddique are also part of the movie. All this makes Kammara Sambhavam an exciting film to watch out for. The movie is certain to take a big opening at the box office as the holiday season has already begun.

As informed easier, the makers of Asif Ali’s upcoming movie ‘B Tech’ released the movie’s trailer today (April 12) evening. As expected, the trailer introduces to a bunch of engineering students from Bangalore. Along with Asif Ali, Sreenath Bhasi, Aparna Balamurali, Shani Shaki, Niranja Anoop, Deepak Parambol and ‘Parava’ fame Arjun Ashokan form the gang.

Mridul Nair, a former associate of director VK Prakash, is making his directorial debut with this movie. Mridul has also penned the story for the movie, while the screenplay and dialogues are written by Ramakrishna J Kulur. The movie promises to be a fun entertainer that shifts to a serious mood towards the latter half when the plot conflict begins.

Anoop Menon, Aju Varghese, Saiju Kurup, Alencier Ley Lopez, Jaffer Idukki, Harish Raj, Jayan Cherthala, Dinesh Prabhakar, Neena Kurup, V K Prakash and Subeesh Sudhi are part of the movie’s supporting cast. Manoj Kumar Khatoi is the cinematographer and Mahesh Narayanan, who recently directed the widely acclaimed Take Off, is editing B Tech. Rahul Raj is handling the music department.

Maqtro Pictures, who produced Asif Ali’s superhit film Sunday Holiday, is funding this upcoming movie as well.

Vineeth Sreenivasan’s Aravindante Athidhikal is getting ready to hit screens on the 27th of this month. The makers have planned to release the movie’s trailer tomorrow and for that some of the most popular Malayali actors in the social media space are coming together. The trailer will be released tomorrow (April 13) evening by Prithviraj, Tovino Thomas, Nivin Pauly and Anoop Menon through their respective social media handles.

Aravindante Athidhikal promises to a clean feel good entertainer aimed at families, who throng theatres in large numbers during this holiday season. M Mohanan, who has given hit films like like Katha Parayumbol and Manikyakallu is directing this movie. Vineeth Sreenivasan plays the lead of Arvaindan and Nikhila Vimal of ‘Love 24×7’ fame is paired opposite him.

Aravindante Athidhikal scripted by newcomer Rajesh Raghavan is set in the premises of the famous Mookambika Temple in Kollur. Vineeth Sreenivasan plays Aravindan, an orphan raised by Madhavan (Sreenivasan), who owns a lodge – Mookambika Vilasam. The movie explores the protagonist Aravindan’s relationship with his guests and his wait for his long lost mother.

Urvashi, Shanthi Krishna, KPAC Lalitha, Vijayaraghavan, Aju Varghese, Biju Kuttan, Salim Kumar, Prem Kumar, Kottayam Nazeer and Baiju form the movie’s supporting cast. Shaan Rahman is composing music for this movie and both his songs have already become hits.

Aravindante Athidhikal is jointly produced by Pradeep Kumar Pathiyara of Pathiyara Entertainment Pvt Ltd and Noble Babu Thomas of Big Bang Entertainments.

Internet sensation Priya Prakash Varrier continues to win hearts and be talked about in social medias. All it required was a casual wink for her to trend globally. Offers have been flowing in for the teenager from several industries including Bollywood. The latest we hear is that Priya has signed her debut Tamil movie with Nalan Kumarasamy of ‘Soodhu Kavvum’ fame.

Nalan Kumarasamy is one of the most promising young filmmakers in Tamil cinema. He made his debut with the Vijay Sethupathi starrer Soodhi Kavvum, a black comedy-crime film that went on to be hugely successful. In his second film Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum, the director introduced ‘Premam’ fame Madonna Sebastian to Kollywood. She was paired opposite Vijay Sethupathi in the rom-com, which was an official remake of the Korean film My Dear Desperado.

Details about his upcoming movie with Priya Prakash Varrier are not yet known. But it will be interesting to see how he launches Priya in Tamil amdist all the hype. It is also good to see the actress taking her time to sign her next with a director who has a good body of work. An official word regarding the project is still awaited.

Meanwhile, we hear that Priya’s sensational debut movie Oru Adaar Love will be released as a multi-lingual in four languages. Apart from Malayalam, the movie will also be released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. It is a good move by the makers to cash in on the huge popularity that they attained with the promo song and teaser. If reports are to be believed, the movie will be hitting screens by the second week of September.

We had earlier reported about ace filmmaker Ranjith’s doing a romantic entertainer titled ‘Bilathikadha’. Maniyanpilla Raju’s son Niranj and Anu Sithara are playing the lead roles in the movie, which also has an extended cameo by superstar Mohanlal. The movie was supposed to go on floors earlier this year but it kept postponing due to various reasons.

As per latest reports, the movie is all set to go on floors next month. Mohanlal has alloted 45 days out of his schedule for this movie. He will be part of Bilathikadha’s team from May 10 to June 25. Though it was initially reported that his is just a guest role, it now looks like a full fledged character role. Interestingly, the other big M, Mammootty was supposed to do this role but he opted out due to his prior commitments.

Ranjith has scripted Bilathikadha jointly with writer Sethu. The movie is touted to be a romantic tale set in London. Kaniha, Jewel Mary, Kalabhavan Shajon, Suresh Krishna, Shalin Zoya, Dileesh Pothan will be seen in supporting roles. Directors Shyamaprasad and Johnny Antony are also part of the cast.

Prashanth Raveendran will be cranking the camera and Vinu Thomas will be handling the music department. The movie is being produced jointly by UK based company Lilypad Motion Pictures and Varnachitra Big Screen. Bilathikadha is slated to hit screens for this year’s Onam in August.

Varun Dhawan is currently one of the most wanted actors in Bollywood. The actor who made his debut in 2012 with Karan Johar’s Student of the Year, has managed to carve a niche for himself in the Hindi film industry with a string of successful films. He is now awaiting the release of October, slated to hit screens tomorrow (April 13).

October is very unlike a Varun Dhawan film. One of Bollywood’s most revered filmmakers, Shoojit Sircar is directing this movie which is touted to be an intense romantic drama starring Varun and newbie Banita Sandhu in the lead roles. For the last few weeks, Varun and team have been busy with the promotions for their movie.

In a recent interview to NIE, Varun opened up about how he wishes to work in the South and his admiration for the Malayalam film industry. He is quoted saying, “I want to work with directors like Shankar and SS Rajamouli. I have always wanted to do a Telugu or Tamil film. Ram Charan is a good friend, and told me to learn Telugu.”

When quizzed about his take on most Bollywood actors playing villain roles in South, he said, “Not me. I want to debut as a hero in Tamil or Telugu cinema. After the first film, I can play whatever character the script demands. I love watching South Indian cinema, and am influenced by their choices. Films like Arjun Reddy or Mercury, for instance. Let’s not even talk about how Malayalam films are the king of content.”

It is worth a mention that Varun had mentioned Mammootty, Vijay, Jr NTR and Allu Arjun as his favorite South Indian stars during a casual interaction with his followers in Twitter. It is always heartening to see the mutual respect and admiration between actors from various industries.

Confirmed: Jeeva to star in the Tamil remake of Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil

We were among the first to report about the recently released Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil getting a Tamil version. Actor Jeeva has been signed for the lead role which was played by Antony Varghese in the original. Tinu Pappachan, who directed the Malayalam version, will be helming the remake as well. The director had recently met Jeeva and the project was officially confirmed. More details are expected to be announced very soon.

Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil was released on March 31 and opened to overwhelming response from the audience, which includes both critics and the commoners. Tinu Pappachan, who is a former associate of Lijo Jose Pellissery, made his directorial debut with this movie.

Newcomer Dileep Kurian scripted the movie as a prison-break thriller, perhaps the first of its kind in Malayalam cinema. Along with Antony, Vinayakan, Chemban Vinod Jose, Tito Wilson, few actors from ‘Angamaly Diaries’ and a bunch of newcomers also played major roles in Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil.

Tinu Pappachan’s uniquely stylish making backed with good performances from the lead actors worked with the audience, especially the youth. It is an edge-of-the-seat thriller with loads of action and mass moments. It will be interesting to see how the makers tweak the movie in order to suit the sensibilities of the Tamil audience.

The teaser of upcoming Malayalam movie Lilli has been getting very good response in social medias. The movie directed by debutant Prasobh Vijayan has a bunch of youngsters in the lead roles. Actor Prithviraj released the teaser on April 9 through his Facebook page and ever since then the makers have been getting positive reviews from the viewers.

Last day, ‘Baahubali’ star Rana Daggubati shared the teaser in his official social media handle and wished the team luck. It is indeed heartening to see a Malayalam movie from a group of newcomers grabbing the attention of such a big star like Rana.

This 1 minute 33 second teaser gives a sneak peak of what’s in store for the audience. The movie is touted to be a hard-hitting thriller and the teaser justifies it with some gripping moments. It is loaded with some raw and violent moments, a kind which is not generally seen in Malayalam cinema.

Samyukhtha Menon, Dhanesh Anand, Kannan Nayar, Sajin Cherukayil and Kevin Jose are playing major roles in the movie. Lilli’s technical crew comprises of debutant cinematographer Sreeraj Raveendran, composer Sushin Shyam and last year’s State award winning editor Appu Bhattathiri.

Lilli is the maiden movie to come out of E4 Entertainment’s newly launched initiative, E4 Experiment. The banner is well known for backing small but quality films. E4 Experiment has been launched with the objective of doing small budget movies with fresh talents. With the impressive motion poster and this tease, cinephiles have pinned high hopes on Lilli, which is gearing up to hit screens in July.

It is already known that Vikram will be playing the mythological character Karna in the upcoming biggie ‘Mahavir Karna’, to be directed by RS Vimal. Pre-production works for the movie is currently going on in full swing. It is slated go on floors this coming October in Hyderabad and is expected to hit screens by December 2019.

Latest buzz is that the makers have roped in this year’s Kerala State Award winner Indrans for a crucial role in the movie. Of late, Indrans has mostly been part of movies that offer him scope for performance. Bagging a role in such a prestigious project like Mahavir Karna is the result of the veteran’s years of hardwork and perseverance.

According to the makers, Mahavir Karna has been planned to be made on an estimated budget of Rs 300 crores. The movie will be shot simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil. It will also be released in all other major languages. Since it is a mythological-fantasy film, it will be appealing to an universal audience. A New York based production house United Film Kingdom is backing this mega project.

Vikram, well known for the efforts he puts in to play a character, will be undergoing another strenuous physical transformation for the role of Karna. Reportedly, he has allotted four months for shoot and three months for his preparations. He has already started working out and will be trained by international action choreographers abroad for the war sequences in the film.

Besides Vikram, the movie will also have other leading stars from industries across the country. Director RS Vimal also revealed that they have roped in a prominent Hollywood actor to play the role of Bhima. Several leading technicians across the globe will be associated in this movie. Hyderabad, Jaipur and Canada have been finalized as the major locations.
