Dulquer Salmaan launches Akhil Akkineni’s new film!

Akhil Akkineni is one of the most promising among the younger generation of actors in Telugu cinema at present. He is the son of Telugu superstar Nagarjuna and yesteryear actress Amala Akkineni. His last release Hello, directed by Vikram Kumar of ’24’ and ‘Manam’ fame was a successful affair at the box office.

Akhil’s new movie was launched earlier this week in Hyderabad with first clap by Nagarjuna and first shot initiated by Malayali star Dulquer Salmaan. The launch ceremony was a silent affair attended by Nagarjuna, Amala Akkineni, Dulquer, Sushanth and the film’s crew.

Dulquer is currently in Hyderabad for the dubbing of his debut Telugu movie Mahanati. The movie directed by Nag Ashwin is the biopic of legendary actress Savitiri. Keerthy Suresh plays the late actress’ role while Dulquer essays the role of popular actor Gemini Ganesan. With Mahanati, Dulquer is set to extend his popularity to the Telugu states as well.

Meanwhile, Akhil’s upcoming movie will be directed by Venky Atluri who made an impressive debut with ‘Tholi Prema’ this year. BVSN Prasad is producing the movie under the banner of SVCC banner. Regular shoot will be commencing only by May as the makers have not yet finalized the whole cast and crew. Composer SS Thaman will be handling the music department for this movie, touted to be a romantic entertainer.

‘Angamaly Diaries’ fame Antony Varghese’s next is ‘Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil’. The movie directed by debutant Tinu Pappachan is all set to hit screens this Saturday (March 31). Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil also starring Vinayakan and Chemban Vinod Jose promises to be a racy action flick.

The recently released trailer of the movie was met with terrific response in social medias. The 1.42 minute trailer is loaded with raw and realistic action scenes. From what we get to see in the trailer, we can make out that a major part of the story happens inside a prison. Trailers and teasers are very essential to create the right kind of pre-release buzz and the makers of Swathanthryam Ardharathriyil have succeeded in doing that.

The movie scripted by newcomer Dileep Kurian has Antony playing Jacob, a Kottayam based youngster who works in a finance company. As the title suggests, the core plot of this movie evolves over certain incidents that occur on a single night which turns the protagonist’s life upside down.

Girish Gangadharan is the cinematographer and Shameer Mohammed is handling the edits. Songs are composed by Jakes Bejoy and Deepak Alexander is in charge of the background score. The movie is being produced by BC Joshi and it will be presented by director B Unnikrishnan. Lijo Jose Pellissery and Chemban Vinod Jose are also part of the team as co-producers.

The third and final schedule of Odiyan was progressing at Palakkad before the team moved to Athirappilly last day for a song shoot. Kala Master is choreographing the song sequence which apparently features Mohanlal and Manju Warrier. From the location stills and Mohanlal’s make-up, we presume that it is not a usual kind of a song.

Odiyan, according to the makers, is shaping up as a mass entertainer with a mix of action, romance and magical realism. National award winner Harikrishnan has scripted the movie, which is primarily about ‘odividya’, a kind of black magic. People who practice it are called ‘odiyans’.

Mohanlal plays odiyan Manikyan in the movie. The story is set in three different timelines starting from the pre-electricty days in the 1950s to 2000. The narrative follows Manikyan’s life from his childhood to his 60s. Prakash Raj plays the villain’s role of Ravunni and Manju Warrier character is named as Prabha.

In this ongoing schedule, the younger portions of these three lead characters are being shot. Narain, Innocent, Sana Althaf, Kailas and Siddique are also part of the movie’s supporting cast. Action choreographer Peter Hein, cinematographer Shaji Kumar, art director Prashanth Madhav, editor Sreekar Prasad, composers M Jayachandran, Sam CS and sound designer Resul Pookkutty form the movie’s technical crew.

Odiyan is funded by Mohanlal’s own production house, Aashirvad Cinemas.

Popular footballer Iain Hume finally got to meet actor Mohanlal last day. Sharing his excitement with his followers, Hume shared a photo taken with superstar Mohanlal in his official social media handle and captioned it as,

Iain Hume, a Canadain born footballer, is the star striker of the State’s football club Kerala Blasters (KBFC) participating in the Indian Super League (ISL). Hume is popularly called Hum’ettan’ by the Malayali football fans. He played for KBFC in the inaugural season in 2014 and helped the team reach the fourth position while also emerging as the top scorer with five goals.

In the following two years, Hume represented Atlético de Kolkata (ATK). He was the top scorer for the club in both the seasons, with a total of 18 goals. In 2016, Hume’s ATK emerged as the champions beating KBFC in the finals. For the last season, Hume returned back to KBFC.

Thalapathy 62 team is currently on a schedule break owing to the ongoing TNFPC strike. Around 40% of shoot has already been completed, which includes a couple of fight scenes and a song. AR Murugadoss is directing this movie which stars Vijay and Keerthy Suresh in the lead roles.

Maestro AR Rahman is composing music for the movie, his second successive Vijay film after the blockbuster Mersal. Latest buzz is that Vijay will be singing a song in AR Rahman’s composition for this movie. Though the news is yet to be confirmed, Vijay fans are already excited about it. The star has previously sung for composers like Ilayaraja, Harris Jayaraj, Devi Sri Prasad, Anirudh, GV Prakash etc. He is yet to lend his voice for an AR Rahman track. If it happens with Thalapathy 62, it will be nothing short of a sensational hit.

Thalapathy 62 marks Vijay’s third outing with director AR Murugadoss. Their previous two films – Thuppakki and Kaththi, were huge blockbusters, so expectations are high for this upcoming movie. AR Murugadoss has scripted the movie and dialogues are by Jeyamohan, who is also the co-writer of 2.0.

Vijay is said to be playing a millionaire’s role in the movie. It is after a long gap that Vijay is playing such a rich and sophisticated character, as he has mostly done roles that are easily relatable to the commoners. Meanwhile, fans are eagerly waiting for the title and first look.

Kammaara Sambhavam is getting ready for release next month. The movie is most likely to hit screens on April as a grand Vishu release. Rathish Ambat is directing the movie which has Dileep and Siddharath in the lead roles. It is said to be an epic set in three different timelines. Murali Gopy has scripted the movie which focuses on historical accounts and how it is depicted by the ones who wrote it.

While Dileep plays Kammaran, Siddharth, who is making his Malayalam debut, plays the role of Othenan Nambiar. Siddharth who recently finished dubbing for his portions said he had a tough time dubbing in Malayalam. The actor has dubbed himself in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi, so he was determined to do it in Malayalam as well. But it was not an easy task.

Murali Gopy’s language made it even more exciting for Siddharth, who feels it would’ve been easier if it was a regular Malayalam film. Inspite of all that, Siddharath managed to finish dubbing and is now looking forward to the release like how a school kid waits for exam results.

Meanwhile, the makers have announced that the much awaited teaser would be releasing on March 28, Wednesday. Siddharth is unarguably one of the most talented and versatile among the younger generation of actors in South cinema. Starting as an assistant director to Mani Ratnam, Siddharth then plunged to acting with Shankar’s Boys. Soon, he made big strides and started bagging roles in Hindi and Telugu films. After 16 years of being in the industry, Siddharth is finally making his Malayalam debut this year with Dileep’s ‘Kammara Sambhavam’.

In a recent interview, when asked why it took him so long to be part of Malayalam industry, Siddharth said that he has always been in talks with filmmakers from Kerala but never got the right script. Interestingly, ‘Ustad Hotel’ might have been his first Malayalam film but he didn’t have the time back then and was unlucky to miss out.

Ustad Hotel directed by Anwar Rasheed is rated as one of the finest Malayalam movies in the past decade or so. Anjali Menon scripted the movie which had Dulquer Salmaan, Thilakan and Nithya Menen in the lead roles. Ustad Hotel gave a massive image makeover for Dulquer, who made a less glamorous outing with Second Show. The movie even won a couple of National awards. Siddharth was indeed unlucky to have missed out on such a movie.

But the wait for the right script proved fruitful as Kammara Sambhavam looks highly promising. The movie directed by Rathish Ambat is an epic set in three different timelines. Vineeth Sreenivasan’s next as a lead actor, ‘Aravindante Athidhikal’ is gearing up for release. The movie is directed by M Mohanan, who is well known for helming movies like Katha Parayumbol and Manikyakkallu. A new poster from Aravindante Athithikal was released today through the movie’s official Facebook page. The lead pair of Vineeth Sreenivasan and Nikhila Vimal feature in this poster.

Aravindante Athithikal marks Nikhila Vimal’s comeback to Malayalam after making her debut as a heroine in 2015 with Love 24×7. She later acted in a few Tamil and Telugu movies. In Arvanindante Athithikal, she plays the character Varada who is the romantic interest of Aravindan, played by Vineeth.

Aravindante Athithikal scripted by newcomer Rajesh Raghavan is tipped to be feel good entertainer. Its story is set in the premises of Mookambika Temple in Kollur. Vineeth Sreenivasan plays Aravindan, an orphan who was raised by Madhavan, the owner of Mookambika Vilasam lodge. The movie explores Aravindan’s relationship with his guests and his wait for his long lost mother.

Sreenivasan, Urvashi, Shanthi Krishna, KPAC Lalitha, Vijayaraghavan, Aju Varghese, Biju Kuttan, Salim Kumar, Prem Kumar, Kottayam Nazeer and Baiju play supporting roles in the movie. Its technical crew includes cinematographer Sawroop Philip, composer Shaan Rahman and veteran editor Ranjan Abraham.

Nazriya Nazim turns producer for Fahadh Faasil’s next with Amal Neerad

As we had reported earlier, Amal Neerad is teaming up with Fahadh Faasil for his next directorial. Aishwarya Lekshmi of ‘Mayaanadhi’ fame has been signed as the female lead. Shoot for the movie officially kick-started today (March 25). Fahadh’s better half, actress Nazriya Nazim is turning a producer with this upcoming movie. She is jointly the funding the movie with Amal Neerad Productions.

Nazriya, who has been away from the industry after tying the knot with Fahadh, is making a comeback with director Anjali Menon’s next. She is playing one of the leads in the movie alongside Prithviraj and Parvathy. Now that she has also taken up production, looks like Nazriya is keen to be active in the industry once again.

Ever since ‘Mahehsinte Prathikaram’, Fahadh Faasil has been very choosy with his movies and has slowed down considerably. Except for a dud in ‘Role Models’, all his other recent movies have been critically acclaimed and won him praise. His next with Amal Neerad already has high expectations among the audience. Their last outing together was for the widely acclaimed ‘Iyobinte Pusthakam’.

Amal Neerad’s movies have always been known for their technical quality. For his next, he has roped in Littil Swayamp to handle the cinematography. Littil made a splendid debut last year with ‘Parava’. More details regarding the genre or other cast and crew have not yet been revealed. Let’s wait for the official announcement.
