Suriya 37: Suriya’s next with KV Anand is an action thriller!

Last day, director KV Anand officially announced his upcoming with Suriya through his Twitter handle. Lyca Productions is funding this film. Suriya and KV Anand have previously worked together in Ayan and Maattrraan. While Ayan was a huge commercial hit, Maattrraan was noted for its ambitious subject and Suriya’s act as the conjoined twins.

Expectations are on the higher side when the duo team once again. In a recent interview, KV Anand said that their upcoming movie will an action thriller. The director did not reveal other details but hinted that it will be a different film for him as well as Suriya. Major portions of the movie will be set in Delhi. The director had recently travelled to China and is now in the national capital for location scouting.

The technical crew of Suriya 37 (working title) was announced last day. Gavemic U Ary, well known for his stellar work in Jigarthanda, will be wielding the camera and Kiran, a regular in KV Anand movies, is handling the production design. Harris Jayaraj has been signed as the music director. Interestingly, the actor-director duo’s previous two films, Ayan and Maattrraan, also had music by the same composer. is penning the dialogues .

KV Anand is scripting this movie jointly with novelist Pattukottai Prabhakar. The director is well known for helming quality commercial entertainers that also have relevant social messages. His next outing with Suriya is also expected to be on similar lines. More details about the title and cast will be revealed very soon.

Meanwhile, Suriya is busy shooting for NGK, directed by Selvaraghavan. The movie produced by Dream Warrior Pictures has Sai Pallavi and Rakul Preet Singh as the female leads. The makers are planning to wrap up the shoot by May and release it for this year’s Diwali in November.

Mohanlal, as always, is busy with a slew of projects lined up in his kitty. He is currently shooting in Palakkad for the final schedule of Odiyan. Latest buzz is that the actor has committed for a Telugu movie to be produced by Mythri Movie Makers. As per reports, the movie is planned to go on floors once Mohanlal wraps up Odiyan.

It must be remembered that Mohanlal worked with the same banner in the 2016 blockbuster film ‘Janatha Garage’. The Kortala Siva directorial had Mohanlal and Jr NTR in the lead roles. Mohanlal’s performance in the movie was considered along with Pulimurugan and Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol for bestowing him the National special jury award.

Mohanlal has a jam-packed schedule ahead of him. So, the possibility of him acting in a Telugu film seem very less. The authenticity of these reports have not yet been confirmed. After Odiyan, Mohanlal is expected to shoot for his cameo roles in ‘Bilathikadha’ and ‘Vaarikuzhiyile Kolapathakam’. He also has the much hyped ‘Lucifer’ and Bhadran’s film in the pipeline.

We had earlier reported that Suriya’s next after the ongoing Selvaraghavan movie is with KV Anand. The movie marks his third outing with the director after ‘Ayan’ and ‘Maattraan’. KV Anand made the movie’s official announcement today through his Twitter handle.

The director has also announced the technical crew of the movie, which is tentatively titled as Suriya 37. Gavemic U Ary will be wielding the camera and Harris Jayaraj has been signed as the music director. Interestingly, the actor-director duo’s previous two films, Ayan and Maattraan, also had music by the same composer. Pattukottai Prabhakar is penning the dialogues and Kiran, a regular in KV Anand movies, will be handing the production design.

Kollywood’s top banner Lyca Productions will be funding the movie. They already have two biggies in Rajinikanth’s 2.0 and Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, coming up. This upcoming movie will mark their first time collaboration with Suriya.

KV Anand and his team is currently busy with the movie’s pre-production works. The director was recently in China for location scouting. The final schedule of Mohanlal’s highly anticipated movie, Odiyan is progressing at a brisk pace in Palakkad. Shrikumar Menon is directing this movie as a mass entertainer with a blend of fantasy and magical realism. A huge crew of around hundred members including the artists and technicians are sweating it out in Palakkad, the movie’s major location. Art department headed by Prashanth Madhav have erected a fictional village Thenkurissi where the team is currently shooting.

Last day, the making video of the movie was released in social medias. Mohanlal, Naren, Prakash Raj and some others can be seen shooting for their scenes. Odiyan scripted by Harikrishnan is primarily about Odividya, a kind of black magic practiced in medieval Kerala. People who practice Odividya are called odiyans.

Mohnalal plays the role of odiyan Manikyan in the movie. Manju Warrier plays the female lead Prabha and Prakash Raj essays the villain role of Ravunni. The story is set in three different timelines starting from the pre-electricty days in the 1950s to 2000. In this ongoing schedule, the younger portions of these three lead characters are being shot. All three of them – Mohanlal, Manju Warrier and Prakash Raj – will be appearing in multiple looks in the movie.

Innocent, Sana Althaf, Kailas and Siddique are also part of the movie’s supporting cast. Action choreographer Peter Hein, cinematographer Shaji Kumar, art director Prashanth Madhav, editor Sreekar Prasad, composers M Jayachandran, Sam CS and sound designer Resul Pookkutty form the movie’s technical crew.

Antony Perumbavoor is producing Odiyan under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas. The movie is expected to hit screens sometime by the end of this year.

Akshay Kumar likely to do RSS biopic with Baahubali writer Vijayendra Prasad

Akshay Kumar is the current poster boy of patriotism and contemporary social issues. Lately, there has been a conspicuous shift in the way he has chosen his movies. While his recent choice Airlift and Rustom speak volumes of his patriotic inclination, his other films like Toilet Ek Prem Katha and Padman preach about relevant social issues. Akshay, who is alleged to be a BJP sympathiser, is now in talks for a biopic on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

KV Vijayendra Prasad, the man behind the Baahubali series, has been doing research works for the biopic for the past few months. He along with his team are collecting information about the RSS and life of its chiefs including Dr KB Hedgewar and Madhav Sadashiv Golwalkar among others. The movie will be produced jointly by Karnataka BJP leader and Lahari Recording Company owner, Lahari Velu and his brother Manohar Naidu.

The makers are planning to shoot the movie in Hindi and later dubbed into Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and other regional languages. Vijayendra Prasad will soon be meeting RSS incumbent chief Mohan Bhagwat and other top leaders to gather details for the film. Reportedly, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah have extended their full support to the movie.

As per reports, Akshay Kumar has already given his nod and if things turn out well, the movie will start rolling by the end of this year. Many other leading actors and technicians are expected to be signed for the film. Official announcement will be made very soon.

Mammootty’s Parole is gearing up to hit screens by the end of this month. The movie directed by noted ad filmmaker Sharrath Sandith is eagerly awaited after the intriguing teaser and posters. Mammootty plays the role of sakhav Alex in the movie. The narrative travels through three different phases of his life.

Ajith Poojappura, a jailer in real life, has scripted Parole based on some real life incidents. The movie has Ineya and Miya George as the two female leads. While Ineya plays Mammootty’s wife, Miya will be seen in his sister’s role. Telugu actor Prabhakar is also playing a significant part in the movie.

Prabhakar is well known for his role as the Kalakeya king in SS Rajamouli’s action epic drama Baahubali: The Beginning. His role was hugely popular for the ruthlessness of the Kalakeya tribe and their Kiliki language. His performance in the movie earned him solid roles in many big projects in Tamil and Telugu.

Parole marks his debut appearance in a Malayalam movie. He is playing ‘Bullet Raghavan’, a very prominent character in the movie. It is said to be a negative role and we can expect to the another powerful performance from him.

Parole stars Suraj Venjaramoodu, Krishna Kumar, Irshad, Sijoy Varghese, Sohan Seenulal, Lalu Alex, Sudheer Karamana, Alencier Ley, Muthumani and many other noted actors in supporting roles. The movie is being produced under the banner of Antony D’Cruz Entertainment.

Speculations have been rife for a long time about close buddies Nadirshah and Dileep teaming up for a movie titled ‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Nadhan’. Sajeev Pazhoor of ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ (TD) fame is scripting this movie.

As per latest reports, Dileep and Urvashi will be playing the lead roles in the movie, which is said to be a family entertainer. The former will be undergoing a physical makeover as he is playing a 60-year-old man’s role in the movie.

Dileep and Nadrishah have been close friends from their mimicry days and have also acted together in several movies. Both of them enjoy good popularity among the families. So, it is ideal that they chose to team up for a family entertainer.

More details the movie are not yet known as scripting is still in its early stages. Sajeev Pazhoor recently won the Kerala State Award for best script for TD, so the audience will be expecting a quality subject from him this time as well.

Dileep is currently busy with the final schedule of his big budget flick Kammara Sambhavam, after which he will be joining the sets of Professor Dinkan. Nadrishah meanwhile is directing his debut Tamil film ‘Ajith from Arupukottai’ which is the remake of his own superhit film ‘Kattappanayile Rithwik Roshan’. Their first joint outing ‘Keshu Ee Veedinte Nadhan’ is expected to go on floors only after they wrap up their prior commitments.

We were among the first to report about Dulquer Salmaan signing for the movie adaptation of Anuja Chauhan’s novel ‘The Zoya Factor’. The movie’s official announcement was made today by Dulquer in his social media handle. Dulquer is playing the lead in the movie along with Sonam Kapoor.

Anuja Chauhan’s novel revolves around a PR executive Zoya Singh Solanki, who was born on the exact moment when Indian cricket team had lifted the 1983 World Cup. Zoya is considered as a lucky charm by the Indian team as well as the media. But, the team’s captain, Nikhil Khoda doesn’t believe in luck and relies on performance. Zoya keeps clashing with the Indian skipper, and what follows is a love-hate relationship.

While Sonam Kapoor plays Zoya’s role, Dulquer essays the role of Nikhil Khoda in the movie. Reportedly, the actor is planning to take a month long training for playing the cricketer’s role. Abhishek Sharma will be directing the movie, which is to be jointly funded by Fox Star Studios and Adlabs Films. The movie is slated to hit screens on April 5, 2019.

Zoya Factor is Dulquer’s second Hindi movie. His debut film ‘Karwaan’, which also stars Irrfan Khan and Mithila Palkar is due for release on June 1.

Megastar Mammootty’s The Great Father (TGF) is one of the biggest blockbusters in Malayalam cinema in recent times. Releasing last March, the movie emerged as Mammootty’s highest grossing film ever. Debutant Haneef Adeni directed the movie as a stylish revenge thriller.

Reports are doing the rounds about the movie getting remade in Tamil and Telugu languages. As we had reported earlier, Telugu star Venkatesh has expressed his interest to remake the movie. Latest development is that Chiyaan Vikram has also agreed to do the movie, in Tamil. The authenticity of these reports have not yet been confirmed but it would be great if they do the movie.

The Great Father was a neatly packaged revenge drama with an endearing father-daughter relationship. The issue discussed in the movie can be placed in any milieu, so it will certainly appeal to the Tamil and Telugu audience. Mammootty, Arya, Baby Anikha, Sneha and Malavika Mohanan played major roles in TGF.

Lately, Venkatesh has been doing a lot of remakes. He remade Mohanlal’s blockbuster film Drishyam in Telugu as Drushyam. Last year, he also starred in Guru, the Telugu version of Madhavan’s Tamil film Irudhi Suttru. Reportedly, Venkatesh is mighty impressed with TGF and is already in talks with a couple of directors for remaking the movie.

Vikram meanwhile is busy shooting for his cop-action flick Saamy Square. His next release will be the Gautham Menon directorial ‘Dhruva Natchathiram’. He has also signed for ‘Thoongavanam’ fame Rajesh M Selva’s untitled movie, to be produced by Kamal Haasan, and the Mahabaratha based epic film ‘Mahavir Karna’ with director RS Vimal.

Lijo Jose Pellissery’s films are known for their out of the box themes and uniqueness in treatment. His last release ‘Angamaly Diaries’ was a huge sensation that was talked about nationally. His next, ‘Ee Ma Yau’ is yet to be released but the movie has already won him prestigious Kerala State Award for best director.

National award winner PF Mathews has penned the dialogues and screenplay of this movie. The title Ee Ma Yau itself is a very peculiar one, which is the acronym of Eesho Maryam Ouseph. The movie shot in Chellanam is based on the lives of people in the coastal area. The narrative is primarily centred around a death. Shoot for the movie was completed in just 18 days time.

After winning the State Award, Lijo Jose Pellissery said that he is comparatively more satisfied with Ee Ma Yau than the other movies he has made so far. Ee Ma Yau won a total of three awards at the State level. Poly Valsan won the best supporting actress award and Renganaath Ravee won the award for best sound designer.

Ee Ma Yau was initially supposed to hit screens on December 1 and a preview show for industry insiders was also held a couple of days (November 29) before that in Kochi. Celebrities heaped extremely positive reviews after the show. However, the release got pushed much to the disappointment of the audience.

Apparently, the makers are looking for a film festival to hold its premiere before making a mainstream release. It is now expected to hit theatres only by May or June. The movie stars Chemban Vinod Jose, Vinayakan, Dileesh Pothan and a bunch of newcomers in major roles. Technical crew includes cinematographer Shyju Khalid, composer Prashanth Pillai and editor Deepu Joseph. The movie is produced by Rajesh George Kulangara’s RGK Cinemas.
