Arjun Reddy fame Vijay Devarakonda in Dulquer Salmaan’s upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual

Vijay Devarakonda is a popular name among the South Indian cinephiles after his stunning performance in this year’s superhit Telugu movie Arjun Reddy. Though Vijay has acted in a few other hit films like Yevade Subramanyam and Pelli Choopulu, it was his performance in Arjun Reddy that made him hugely popular. The actor is now shooting for Mahanati, directed by his Yevade Subramanyam director Nag Ashwin.

Mahanati is a biopic on legendary actress Savithri. While Keerthy Suresh plays Savithri’s role, Malayalam actor Dulquer Salmaan will be seen as yesteryear actor Gemini Ganesan in the movie. Mahanti is Dulquer’s debut movie in Telugu and he is playing a very challenging character straightway.

Gemini Ganesan was briefly married to Savithri and the movie will showcase more about their relationship. Dulquer is playing the different phases of the late actor, for which he will be seen in multiple looks. Samantha and Vijay Devarakonda are playing journalists in the movie. The story evolves as the two set out to piece together the story of Savithri’s life. Rajendra Prasad, Mohan Babu and Prakash Raj are also part of the supporting cast.

Mahanati is being produced by Vyjayanthi Movies. It is currently nearing the final stages of shooting and the makers are planning to wrap it up before the first week of January. As announced recently, the movie will be hitting screens worldwide on March 29. It is also a being made simultaneously in Tamil as ‘Nadigayar Thilagam’. A dubbed version in Malayalam is also planned to be released on the same day.

Mammootty’s Parole to release in March!

Mammootty fans are currently awaiting the release of his highly anticipated movie Masterpiece. The movie is releasing amid tremendous hype this Friday and is expected to take a huge opening at the box office. Meanwhile, the actor has taken a short break from his busy schedule and is enjoying a brief holiday with family.

The coming year, Mammootty has a handful of films lined up for release. Ad filmmaker Sharrath Sandith’s debut outing Parole is one of the most exciting among them. The movie has very less hype and hence not much is known about it. That has naturally piqued the curiosity among the audience.

Parole’s shoot was completed in two different schedules in Bangalore and Kerala. Scripted by Ajith Poojappura, the movie is reportedly based on some real life incidents. It is a family drama cum thriller in which Mammootty plays the role of a prisoner, a performance oriented one as per reports. Ineya and Miya George will be seen in prominent roles in the movie.

While Ineya plays Mammootty’s wife in the movie, Miya will be seen in his sister’s role. Telugu actor Prabhakar is also playing a pivotal part in Parole. He is popular for his role as the Kalakeya king in SS Rajamouli’s action epic drama Baahubali: The Beginning. Siddique and Suraj Venjaramoodu are also part of the supporting cast.

Parole is being produced by Jude Sudheer and Juby Ninan under the banner of J&J Productions. Shoot for the movie was wrapped up in Kochi earlier this month and is expected to hit screens by the end of March or April beginning.

Last month, actor Dileep finished shooting for the Chennai schedule of his upcoming movie Kammara Sambhavam. After a small break, the actor is set to resume shooting for the final schedule of the movie. Photos of the actor in an all new handsome getup has been trending across all social media platforms. It is presumably the new look that he will be sporting in the last schedule of Kammara Sambhavam.

Directed by ad filmmaker-turned-director Rathish Ambat, Kammara Sambhavam is an epic film set in three different timelines. Actor/writer Murali Gopy has scripted this film and he is also playing a prominent role in it. Along with Dileep, Tamil actor Sidharth is playing the other lead role in Kammara Sambhavam. He has already finished shooting for his portions.

Dileep will be seen in multiple looks in the movie which also includes a 90-year-old getup. Kammara Sambhavam is said to be the biggest film in his career and the actor is putting in his best of efforts for it. Namitha Pramod plays the female lead in the movie which also stars National award winner Bobby Simha, Shwetha Menon, Siddique, Vijayaraghavan, Indrans, Manikuttan, Siddique, Vinay Forrt, Sudheer Karamana and Santhosh Keezhattoor among others.

Gokulam Gopalan is funding this big budget movie under the banner of Sree Gokulam Movies. The film’s much awaited first look poster will be unveiled very soon.The makers are planning to release the movie for the next Vishu season.

The much awaited Sivakarthikeyan-Fahadh Faasil starrer Velaikkaran is finally releasing this Friday. Written and directed by Mohan Raja, the movie has its music by Anirudh Ravichander and is produced by RD Raja of 24 AM Studios. Expectations are high among the audience for Velaikkaran thanks to its stellar star cast, the highly impressive promos and the fact that the director’s last film Thani Oruvan was a widely acclaimed one.

Sivakarthikeyan has pinned high hopes on the film. Trade experts believe that Velaikkaran will be a game changer in his career. With his lovable guy-next-door image, the actor has mostly done roles which offer him scope for humour. But, Velaikkaran is in total contrast as it follows a very serious mood and speaks about a very relevant social issue.

In a recent interview, Sivakarthikeyan opened about more about the movie. He said, “Usually, my characters become serious only towards the climax. Velaikkaran is different. It’s an emotional journey of Arivu and his struggles. I’m not the hero of the film; the content is. Right after Remo, I wanted to do a film that would be in contrast and I’m glad I got Velaikkaran. The film has given me confidence that good content can bring out more nuanced performances from me. No other film I’ve done has had me emote so much.”

Along with Sivakarthikeyan, Malayalam actor Fahadh Faasil also plays a very prominent role in the movie. Nayanthara, Sneha, Prakash Raj, Rohini, RJ Balaji and many others are also part of the supporting cast. All eyes on December 22 for the movie’s release.

Last day, we had reported about Kunchacko Boban’s upcoming release Shikkari Shambu getting remade in Tamil. The movie directed by Sugeeth is a fun filled entertainer. Kunchacko Boban, Vishnu Unnikrishnan, Sshivada and debutante Alphonsa play the lead roles in the movie. If reports are to be believed, Vishal and Nayanthara are being considered for the Tamil remake.

Popular producer RK Suresh, who is playing the villain’s role in Shikkari Shambu, has reportedly acquired the movie’s Tamil remake rights. He decide to remake the movie after being impressed with the script written by Nishad Koya. He felt that the subject will appeal to the Tamil audience as well and hence has approached Vishal with the offer. An official confirmation regarding the same is yet to be given.

Shikkari Shambu marks the reunion of Kunchacko Boban with director Sugeeth and writer Nishad Koya after hit films like Ordinary and Madhura Naranga. Hareesh Kanaran, Krishna Kumar, Salim Kumar and, directors Aji John, Johnny Antony and MA Noushad are also part of the supporting cast.

Shoot for Shikkari Shambu has already been wrapped up and the team is currently busy with post-production works. Lawrence Angel Maria Films is producing this movie which is expected to hit screens early next year.

Renji Panicker, Kalabhavan Shajon, Hareesh Kanaran, Nirmal Palazhi, Thesni Khan and many others are part of the supporting cast. Shoot for the movie is progressing at a brisk pace in Kochi.

2017 has been a good year for Biju Menon with four releases till now – Rakshadhikari Baiju, Lakshyam, Sherlock Toms and Lavakusha. Rakshadhikari Baiju was a super hit success while Lakshyam was an average grosser. He will be hoping to continue the successful run next year as well. His next release is Rosapoo, directed by Vinu Joseph, a former associate of Rajeev Ravi.

Megastar Mammootty’s Masterpiece is arguably the most awaited among the Christmas films. The movie directed by Ajai Vasudev is a campus based entertainer. Mammootty plays the role of Eddy, a stylish college professor. Masterpiece is writer Udhayakrishna’s next after the all time blockbuster Pulimurugan, so naturally, expectations are on the higher side.

Mammootty fans are very much excited about the movie’s release. A record number of fans shows are being planned in centers across the state including a ladies only show, which is probably the first of its kind in the country. A massive opening is definitely on the cards for Masterpiece. The makers will be hoping to break the opening day collection record in the state.

As the release date is nearing, the makers have released the lyric video of ‘Idhayane’, a beautiful romantic track from the movie. This song is penned by Madhan Karky and rendered by composer Anirudh and Neeti Mohan. The lead pair Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara feature in the video.

Velaikkaran, directed by Mohan Raja is a commercial entertainer with a very relevant social message in it. While the director’s previous film Thani Oruvan was about medical mafia, Velaikaaran is said to be about food adulteration and how a slum dweller fights against the corrupt system. The makers have dedicated this movie to the working class people.

Mohanlal’s fit new avatar that he achieved for his upcoming movie Odiyan is the latest talk of M-Town. The 57-year-superstar’s trim and young new look was unveiled recently with a teaser which took social medias by storm. Mohanlal has been under a strict diet regime for over 50 days to reduce his weight and it is reported that he has shed around 18 kgs for the movie. With the fit new look, Mohanlal is set to join the final schedule of Odiyan from January first week in Palakkad.

Odiyan scripted by Harikrishnan and directed by Shirkumar Menon is primarily about Odividya, a black magic practice. People who used to practice are called odiyans and Mohanlal plays odiyan Manikyan in the movie. He is said to be the last living odiyan in the world. The movie follows his life from childhood to his 60s. Hence the actor will be seen in multiple looks in the movie.

Mohanlal trimmed down his weight as he will be shooting for the younger part of Manikyan in this upcoming schedule. It is said to be a challenging one month of shoot and Mohanlal is all excited about it. In the recently released teaser, he had said that the real game starts now, heightening the expectation levels further. In a monumental career extending over four decades, this is the is the first time Mohanlal is taking such an effort and that itself speaks volumes about his hopes on the movie.

Odiyan also stars Manju Warrier, Kailas, Narain, Siddique, Sana Althaf and Inncoent in prominent roles. This big budget movie is funded by Mohanlal’s own production house Aashirvad Cinemas.

Sivakarthikeyan is currently shooting for director Ponram’s upcoming rom-com entertainer. This is his third film with the director after superhit films Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajini Murugan. Samantha is paired opposite Sivakarthikeyan for the first time with this upcoming movie. It is a very refreshing pair and their on-screen chemistry is something the audience are eagerly looking forward to.

Another interesting thing is, Simran, one of the leading heroines of her time, is playing the villain role in the movie. It is a full fledged negative role and Sivakarthikeyan in a recent interview said that she is essayed it effortlessly. Post her marriage, Simran has been part of only a very few films and this one is expected to provide a big break for her.

This upcoming movie has a solid supporting cast which includes Malayali actor Lal, Napoleon, Soori, Motta Rajendran, Yogi Babu and Manobala among others. Samantha has trained in Tamil Nadu’s traditional martial arts form Silambam for her character in the movie.

Director Ponram has retained the same set of technicians for his new movie also. D Imman will be handling the music department and Balasubramaniem is cranking the camera for this rom-com, set in a rural backdrop.
