Vineeth Sreenivasan has taken a break from direction and is concentrating more on acting. After Aby and Oru Cinemakkaran, the multi-talented Vineeth will be next seen in Aana Alaralodalaral, a movie that mostly comprises of newcomers in the technical crew.

The title poster of the movie was released today through Vineeth’s official Facebook page. As the name suggests, an elephant is playing a major part in this upcoming movie. Anu Sithara is has been roped in as the female lead.

Aana Alaralodalaral is said to be a village based social satire in which Vineeth will be seen as a naadan guy. The movie, scripted by newbie Sarath Balan also stars Vijayaraghavan, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Harish Perady, Mamukkoya and Aanandam fame Vishak Nair in supporting characters.

Director Dileep Menon was a former assistant of G Prajith in Oru Vadakkan Selfie. Incidentally, Vineeth Sreenivasan had scripted and also starred in Oru Vadakkan Selfie. Newcomer Deepu S Unni will be cranking the camera and Shaan Rahman is handling the music department.

Aana Alaralodalaral is being produced jointly by Siby Thottupuram and Navis Xaviour under the banner of Poetry Film House. The movie is all set to go on floors tomorrow (August 22).

Last day, the audio launch event of Vijay’s upcoming movie Mersal held in Chennai. The event was made special with the presence of many celebrities, thousands of fans and a live performance from the maestro AR Rahman. Mersal’s audio launch function was celebrated in such a grand manner for three major reasons- this year marks the 25th anniversary of both AR Rahman and Vijay’s entry to the film industry. Mersal is also the 100th venture of Sri Thenandal Films, one of the most prestigious banners in Kollywood.

Director Sundar C was one of the special invitees for the launch. While speaking at the event, Sundar C revealed that Vijay was one of the reasons why Sangamithra actually happened.

He said, “Eventhough I’ve not worked with Vijay sir, he is the reason for many of my successes. We have had discussions in the past but nothing could materialize due to one reason or the other. I write almost all my scripts keeping Vijay in mind. Even my next big project Sangamithra is happening thanks to Vijay.

He is one of the main reasons for Sangamithra to happen. I went to narrate some ideas to Vijay, he liked one of them and asked me to develop the script. That is Sangamithra. I could not do it then due to the budget and technical constraints. But I’m now doing it with the backing of Sri Thenandal Films.”

Sangamithra, written and directed by Sundar C, was supposed to have Shruti Haasan in the titular role. However, the actress opted out of the project after they had a high profile launch in the Cannes Film Festival.

Jayam Ravi and Arya are playing the male leads in the movie. It is an epic-period film set in the 8th century AD and both the actors are tipped to be playing warriors in the film.

Sangamithra is being planned as the most expensive Tamil movie ever. Sri Thenandal Films is reportedly investing over Rs 250 crores for this massive project. The movie is expected to go on floors by the end of this year.

Lal Jose-Dulquer Salmaan-Unni R trio’s Oru Bhayankara Kamukan to commence soon

Last year, director Lal Jose had announced that he will be teaming up with Mollywood’s young sensation Dulquer Salmaan. Unni R has scripted this movie titled as Oru Bhayankara Kamukan. Shoot for this movie was initially scheduled to start early this year but got postponed as both Dulquer and Lal Jose got busy with other commitments.

Dulquer went on to do Bejoy Nambiar’s bilingual movie Solo, which got delayed and in between that he also shot worked in Soubin Shahir’s Parava. Lal Jose meanwhile committed for Velipadinte Pusthakam with Mohanlal in the lead. Now that both of them are free from other projects, we hear that they are planning to start Oru Bhayankara Kamukan’s shoot very soon.

Dulquer will be seen as a ‘naadan’ guy in Lal Jose’s Oru Bhayankara Kamukan. He will be seen in a lungi clad rustic guy-next-door character. According to reports coming in from sources close to the unit, the movie is set in a small town near a forest. Dulquer will be playing a resident of that village. More details regarding the other cast and crew members is expected to be announced in the coming days.

Oru Bhayankara Kamukan marks the Dulquer’s second film with Lal Jose after the superhit movie Vikramadithyan, which was released in 2014. Unni R has also worked with Dulquer previously in Charlie and Kullante Bharya, in the anthology 5 Sundharikal.

Meanwhile, Lal Jose’s Velipadinte Pusthakam and Parava, in which Dulquer has played an extended cameo, are gearing up to lock horns this Onam sesaon. The bilingual Solo starring Dulquer as multiple protagonists is slated to hit screens by September end for the Pooja holidays.

A foreign actress to play the female lead in Tovino’s upcoming movie

Riding high on the success of his last few releases, Tovino Thomas has been grabbing some big projects. His next release will be Tharangam, a black-comedy funded by Dhansuh’s Wunderbar Studios. The Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Abi & Anu, Aashiq Abu’s Mayaanadhi and debutant Vishnu Narayanan’s Maradona are some of the other films in his kitty.

As per latest reports, Tovino Thomas has committed for a new movie with director Jeo Baby, with whom he has worked in 2 Penkuttikal. E4 Entertainment is producing this movie, which according to the makers is a very unusual love story. The director has scripted this movie along with newcomer Deepu Pradeep.

Reportedly, it is a travel movie which is being planned to be shot across the country. The makers are currently on the look for a foreign actress. The lead lady of this movie is someone who arrives from the US to visit India. Tovino will be seen as a ‘naadan’ youth who upholds his family values. Casting for other characters is still on and more details will be revealed soon.

Shaan Rahman will be handling the music department and Godha fame Vishnu Sarma has been roped in to crank the camera. Shoot for this movie will kick-start in December and is scheduled to hit screens in May next year.

Meanwhile, Tovino Thomas has two of his movies getting ready for release. Debutant Arun Dominic’s Tharangam and BR Vijayalakshmi’s Tamil-Malayalam bilingual Abi & Anu are scheduled to hit screens next month.

Prithviraj Sukumaran heads to US for his next film’s shoot

Prithviraj recently finished shooting for his upcoming movie Vimaanam. The actor will next join the team of Ranam, directed by debutant Nirmal Sahadev. The movie was earlier named as Detroit Crossing but later the makers opted for a title change. Prithviraj has left to the US for the movie’s shoot.

Majority of the portions will be shot in Detroit, Michigan. The movie will showcase the lives of the immigrant community. Prithviraj plays the role of a Tamil street gang member in the movie, which is inspired by real-life incidents. The actor will be portraying a grey shaded role. Mamta Mohandas has been roped in as the female lead and she will be seen in an equally important role. Her’s is a very a strong and mature character that also has several shades and layers.

Rana falls under the category of a dark neo-noir thriller. The city of Detroit will have paramount importance in the plot. Since the movie is based on Tamil street gangs, some noted Tamil actors like Ashwin Kumar and Sampath Raj will also be seen in pivotal roles.

The team will be shooting for nearly 50 days for the film. Ranam has most of its crew from the US. Cinematography will be handled by Lukasz Pruchnik, who previously worked in Fahadh Faasil’s Monsoon Mangoes. D16 fame Jakes Bejoy has been roped in to handle the music department. The movie is being produced by Anand Kumar Payyanur under the banner of Yes Cinema Company.

As we already know, promising actor Tovino Thomas is foraying into Kollywood this year with a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual movie. Tamil version has been titled as Abhiyum Anuvum and Malayalam as Abhiyude Kadha Anuvinteyum. Popular filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon has released the motion poster of the movie today through his official Facebook page.

Noted woman cinematographer BR Vijayalakshmi is directing this movie. Lead actors Tovino and Pia Bajapi feature in the motion poster. This is a romantic film based on a real life incident that occured in Latin America. Udayabanu Maheshwaran has penned the story and screenplay for this movie.

Shoot for the movie has already been completed and it was shot extensively in various parts of Kerala and Chennai. Veteran actors Prabhu, Suhasini Mani Ratnam and Rohini are playing prominent roles. Dharan has handled the music department and Agilan has cranked the camera.

Vikram Mehra and BR Vijayalakshmi are jointly funding this movie under the banner of Yoodlee Films. Ace cinematographer-turned-filmmaker Santhosh Sivan is serving as an executive producer. The movie is slated to hit screens on September 22.

The audio launch event of Vijay’s upcoming movie Mersal was one of the biggest events in Tamil cinema history. The event was made special the presence of many celebrities, thousands of fans and a live performance from the maestro AR Rahman. Vijay’s short but powerful speech was the icing on the cake.

Mersal’s audio launch function was celebrated in such a grand manner for three major reasons- this year marks the 25th anniversary of both AR Rahman and Vijay’s entry to the film industry. Mersal is also the 100th venture of Sri Thenandal Films, one of the most prestigious banners in Kollywood.

Actor Dhanush was the chief guest of the event. His entry came as a big surprise to the fans present as it was not publicised before the event started. While talking in the event he remarked about how Vijay has inspired him with a successful career that has lasted for 25 long years.

“Today is indeed a very significant day. Thenandal’s 100th film, Vijay sir’s and Rahman sir’s 25th year in the film industry. With all these milestones, such a grand event is inevitable. I’m very happy to be a part of this event. I have come here today as Vijay sir’s friend. It’s taken 25 years of hard-work to reach where he’s now. I really admire his cool composure. Silence is a very lethal weapon and I have learned the power of silence from him. He has always been an inspiration. I’m waiting for Mersal and will definitely watch it on the first-day first show itself”, said Dhanush.

Mersal marks the reunion of Vijay and director Atlee after the massive success of Theri. Kajal Agarwal, Samantha and Nithya Menen play the female leads. The movie is slated for a grand release this October, during the Diwali season.

Mollywood’s young star Fahadh Faasil is making his entry to Kollywood this year with director Mohan Raja’s upcoming movie titled as Velaikkaran. Sivakarthikeyan, Fahadh, Nayanthara and Sneha play major roles in the movie. Velaikkaran is being produced by RD Raja’s 24 AM Studios.

Fahadh is playing a very prominent role in the movie. Interestingly, he is also dubbing for himself in Tamil. Producer RD Raja recently shared a photo of him with Fahadh from the dubbing studio. Along with that he has also tweeted that he feels proud working with Fahadh. He also assured that Fahadh is going to surprise the audience with his perfomance in Velaikkaran.

Fahadh Faasil is playing a full length character in the film. His character named as Aadhi is an unique role that has several shades. There are different layers to the relationship between the lead characters played by Fahahdh and Sivakarthikeyan. It begins as a friendship; there is also a guru-sishya element and it also has a clash of personalities.

Velikaaran is a clean commercial entertainer which will be dealing with a very relevant social issue. While the director’s last release Thani Oruvan was about medical mafia, Velaikaaran will be about food adulteration and how a slum dweller fights against the corrupt system.

The movie also stars Prakash Raj, RJ Balaji, Rohini and Sathish in supporting roles. Music department is handled by young sensation Anirudh Ravichander. The movie is slated to hit screens worldwide by the end of September.

It is the introduction poster of Tovino’s character. He is playing the role of Pappan aka Padmanabhan, a sub-inspector. Tharangam, directed by debutant Arun Dominic is a black comedy. Tovino’s Padamanabhan is always accompanied by Balu Varghese’s character Joy. Both of them are suspended from the police force for being part of an unauthorised mission that lead to the death of a police officer.

Director Arun Dominc has previously worked on the screenplay of Style starring Unni Mukundan and Tovino Thomas. Arun has scripted Tharangam along with Anil Narayanan. Newcomer Neha Iyer and Santhy Balachandran are playing the female leads in Tharangam. Veteran actor Manoj K Jayan, Dileesh Pothan, Vijayaraghavan, Alencier Ley Lopez and Shammy Thilakan are also part of the cast.

Deepak D Menon is cranking the camera and Ashwin Renju is handling the music department. Sreenath S is in charge of the edits. Popular Tamil actor Dhanush is making his entry to Mollywood by producing this movie under the banner Wunderbar Films along with Mini Studio.

Madhavan is currently on a high after the success of his latest outing Vikram Vedha. The actor’s performance as a ruthless cop in the movie has been getting appreciation from all corners. Post Vikram Vedha, there were reports about Madhavan doing a Hindi film.

According to latest talks in the Bollywood media, Madhavan has been paired opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in the upcoming movie titled as Fanney Khan. Veteran star Anil Kapoor is playing a very prominent role in the movie.

Fanney Khan marks the directorial debut of Athul Manjarekar. Reportedly, the movie is about the story of a 17-year-old aspiring singer, whose career takes off once her unemployed father kidnaps the top singer of the country. The film is the remake of a Dutch film Everybody’s Famous.

Anil Kapoor will be playing the father’s part and Aishwarya Rai will be seen as the famous singer who inspires the teenager. Madhavan has been roped in to play Aishwarya’s romantic interest. The duo have previously worked together in Mani Ratnam’s 2007 film Guru, however, there was no on-screen romance there.

Fanney Khan will be produced by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and KriArj Entertainment. The movie is set to go on floors by early September and will hit screens worldwide in April next year.
