Here’s another new poster of Dulquer Salmaan’s Parava

Actor-turned-filmmaker Soubin Shahir’s debut directorial Parava is gearing up for a September release. The movie’s latest poster featuring Dulquer Salmaan and Shane Nigam was released today by the former through his official Facebook page. Along with unveiling the poster, Dulquer has also written about how Soubin is going to surpise us with a never-before-seen kind of movie.

He has written,

Parava ! I guarantee you that this is gonna be unlike anything you’ve all seen before ! Cannot wait for it to come out Soubin Shahir is gonna surprise all of you

The movie, as the title Parava suggests, has a connection to birds. It is reportedly centred around the pigeon racing practiced in the Fort Kochi, Mattanchery regions in Kochi. Dulquer has played an extended cameo in the movie. He is seen sporting a new look with a moustache-less beard. Though it’s a cameo role, his character will be of great prominence in the storyline.

Parava stars Kismath fame Shane Nigam and some newcomers in major roles. Harisree Ashokan’s son Arjun Ashokan and late actor Sainudeen’s son Dhinil Sainudeen are making their acting debut with this movie. Parava is jointly scripted by Soubin Shahir and Muneer Ali.

Little Swayamp, noted for his works for the popular music band Thaikkudam Bridge’s Navarasa series, is cranking the camera for this movie. Rex Vijayan is handling the music department. Filmmaker Anwar Rasheed and Shyju Unni are producing this movie under the banner of Anwar Rasheed Entertainments.

Aashirvad Cinemas to release Dhanush’s VIP 2 in over 200 screens in Kerala

One of the most anticipated Tamil movies of the year, VIP 2 is all set to hit screens this Friday (August 11). This Dhanush starrer is the sequel for his 2014 superhit movie Velai Illa Pattadhari aka VIP. The movie is directed by Dhanush’s sister-in-law and filmmaker Soundarya Rajinikanth.

We had earlier told you about Mohanlal’s Aashirvad Cinemas acquiring the distribution rights of VIP 2 in Kerala. Dhanush, director Soundarya Rajinikanth and Amala Paul were in Oberon Mall, Kochi last day for the movie’s promotions. During the event it was announced that Aashirvad Cinemas will be releasing the movie in over 200 screens all over Kerala.

Dhanush enjoys great popularity in Kerala and the first part VIP was a massive success in the state. So it is indeed a great decision by the makers to release the movie in such large number of screens. A good opening is garaunteed in the Kerala box office.

Bollywood actress Kajol is making a comeback to Kollywood after a long gap of nearly two decades with VIP 2. She is playing the role of Vasundhara Parameshwar, a rich and influential industrialist who is pitted against Dhanush’s Raghuvaran. Amala Paul plays Dhanush’s pair and she is reprising her character, Shalini from the first part. Samuthirakani, Vivek, Cell Murugan and Hrishikesh are also part of the cast.

Dhanush himself has written the story and dialogues for VIP 2. Sean Rolden has replaced Anirudh to handle the music department. Malayali cinematographer turned filmmaker Sameer Thahir is the DOP and Sathyaraj Natarajan is in charge of editing. The movie is bankrolled by Kalaippuli S Thanu’s V Creations.

After Suriya, its Sivakarthikeyan

Suriya is currently shooting for Thaana Serntha Koottam (TSK) directed by Vignesh Shivan. The movie is in the final stages of production and is expected to hit screens sometime by the end of the year. Post the completion of TSK, director Vignesh Shivan will be teaming up with Sivakarthikeyan for a typical commercial entertainer.

KE Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, who is producing TSK, will also be funding this upcoming Sivakarthikeyan starrer. Leading Tamil TV channel Sun TV has bagged the satellite rights of both these movies for a huge amount. The news was confirmed by popular trade analysts Ramesh Bala and Sreedhar Pillai via their Twitter pages.

Vignesh Shivan’s debut outing as a director was the rom-com Poda Podi starring Simbu and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in the lead roles. His next directorial Naanum Rowdy Dhaan, a black comedy featuring Vijay Sethupathy and Nayanthara was a big commercial success. TSK starring Suriya and Keerthy Suresh is tipped to be an entertainer with a relevant social message.

Sivakarthikeyan, meanwhile has a long list of projects waiting in the pipeline. He is currently shooting for director Ponram’s untitled movie starring Samantha as the female lead. He has also committed for a movie with Indru Netru Naalai fame Ravikumar.

Sivakarthikeyan is expected to join Vignesh Shivn’s team after wrapping up Ponram’s movie. His next release will be Mohan Raja’s Velaikkaran which also stars Nayanthara and Fahadh Faasil in major roles. The movie is set to hit screens worldwide on September 29.

The movie, which marks reunion of Vijay with Theri director Atlee, is slated to hit screens in October as a Diwali release. The single track ‘Aalaporan Tamizhan’ from Mersal will be released tomorrow (August 10). Oscar Award winner AR Rahman is composing the music for Mersal. He is composing for a Vijay starrer after 10 long years and its also been a while since the he has scored for a pucca commercial entertainer. As reported by us earlier, the musical album of Mersal will be unveiled on August 20 and the makers are planning to organize a grand audio launch function. Mersal marks the 100th film of the famous production house Sri Thenandral Films, so apparently they are planning a posh launch event.

Mersal is one one of the most awaited Tamil films of this year. Vijay is playing a triple role in the film, a first in his career. The movie has a stellar star cast that includes three female leads in Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Kajal Aggarwal and Nithya Menen. SJ Suriyah, Sathyaraj, Kovai Sarala and Vadivelu are part of it’s supporting cast.

Kajal is one of the most sought after female actors in South Indian cinema. She has some highly exciting projects in her kitty, mainly in Kollywood. The pretty actress is simultaneously working with superstars Vijay and Ajith in Mersal and Vivegam. The actress in a recent interview to TOI opened up on her experience working with both these stars. She is quoted saying, “Vivgeam is my first film with Ajith and I’m completely in awe of him. He is a fabulous actor and an equally warm person. He’s effortless and sincere, and I’m absolutely delighted to have got the opportunity to work with him.”

About working with Vijay, Kajal said, “I’ve already done films with Vijay and Mersal is my third outing with him. I enjoyed shooting with him; his energy is infectious and he’s a lovely person as an individual. He is hard-working and spontaneous, and I admire his work ethics and his style of working.”

Vijay’s Mersal has three female leads since he is playing a triple role in the movie. Apart from Kajal, Samantha and Nithya Menen are also paired opposite Vijay. In Vivegam, Kajal is reportedly playing Ajith’s wife. She will be seen in a different makeover as a homely wife and the actress reveals that she has never played a role like this in her career. Vivgeam is slated to hit screens on August 24 and Mersal is scheduled for a Diwali release.

Few days back, Onlookers Media had exclusively informed about Dulquer Salmaan’s high profile Bollywood entry. Apart from Dulquer, a superstar from Hindi cinema was tipped to be playing a major role in the movie. Now we get reports that the other big star with whom Dulquer will get to share sceeen space is none other than Irrfan Khan.

According to reports, the movie will be shot majorly in Kerala. The crew members have been in Kochi for sometime now for the pre-production works. More details regarding the director and banner under which Dulquer will be launched in Bollywood is expected to be announced very soon.

Dulquer is already a popular star in Tamil cinema and is currently acting in his Telugu debut Mahanadi. Now, with his Bollywood entry, Dulquer has once again proved why he is the most wanted among the current genaration of actors in Malayalam cinema.

His next release is Solo, a Tamil-Malayalam bilingual directed by Bollywood filmmaker Bejoy Nambiar. He has also signed for two other Tamil films, again with newcomers – Desingh Periyasamy and Ra Karthik.

Soubin Shahir’s debut directorial Parava, in which Dulquer has played an extended cameo, is slated for a September release. He has also committed for Lal Jose- Unni R team’s Oru Bhayangara Kamukan, Srinath Rajendran’s untitled movie based on Sukumara Kurup and a film each with Vysakh and debutant Salaam Bukhari.

Fahadh Faasil celebrates his 35th birthday today and wishes are pouring in from all corners for this immensely talented actor. Dulquer Salmaan, Sivakarthikeyan and many others wished the actor. Earlier in the day, the makers of his debut Tamil film Velikaaran revealed his character poster.

Fahadh Faasil is playing the antagonist in the film which stars Sivakarthikeyan and Nayanthara in the lead roles. Velaikaaran is directed by Mohan Raja, whose last film Thani Oruvan was a massive success. The team of Velaikaaran celebrated Fahadh’s birthday on the sets of Trance, his upcoming movie directed by Anwar Rasheed. RD Raja, the head of 24 AM Studios, Amal Neerad, Sreenath Bhasi, Anwar Rasheed, Salam Bukhari and many other crew members were also present.


Velaikaaran features Fahadh Faasil as Adi, the movie’s prime antagonist. His character has several shades and will be seen throughout the movie with Sivakarthikeyan. Their relationship begins as a friendship; there is also a guru-sishya element and it also has a clash of personalities.

According to trustworthy reports, Velaikaaran will be dealing with a very relevant social issue. The movie also stars Sneha, Prakash Raj, Vijay Vasanth, Thambi Ramiah, Charlie RJ Balaji, Rohini, Robo Shankar, Yogi Babu and Sathish in supporting roles. It is slated to hit screens worldwide on September 29.

Asif Ali starrer Sunday Holiday continues to get pretty good response from the audience, including the families. The movie, which was released on July 14, opened to positive reports from all the centres. Critics rated it as a clean feel good entertainer that is worth a watch with families.

Sunday Holiday, directed by Jis Joy of Bicycle Thieves fame has successfully crossed three weeks of theatrical run without many major setback. According to collection reports, the movie has managed to gross Rs 10.70 crores from the Kerala box office alone.

Thie is a decent figure considering Asif Ali’s mixed run post delivering the successful Anuraga Karikkin Vellam. Another great news is that the remake rights for the Tamil and Telugu versions of Sunday Holiday were sold within a week of its release. The movie, scripted by director Jis Joy himself, has a two layered narrative. One is about an incident that happens on a particular Sunday, while the other one explores the life of a band set master and his son.

Alencier Ley Lopez plays Asif Ali’s father in the movie. Sreenivasan, Asha Sharath, Pretham fame Shruthi Ramachandran, Siddique, KPAC Lalitha, Sudheer Karamana, Nirmal Palazhy, director Lal Jose, Dharmajan Bolgatty and Bhagath Manuel have essayed supporting roles in the movie.

Action Hero Biju fame Alex J Pulickal has cranked the camera and Ratheesh Raj has edited the movie. Music department is handled by Deepak Dev. The movie is produced by Sheen Helen under the banner of Maqtro Pictures.

The highly talented Fahadh Faasil is turning 35 today and the actor celebrated this occasion with his friends and family members. Fahadh’s wife Nazriya Nazim and her parents had reached the sets of his upcoming movie Trance to celebrate the birthday.

Trance’s director Anwar Rasheed, Soubin Shahir, Salam Bukhari and many others were present for the customary cake cutting. Photos were shared by Nazriya and Soubin on Instagram, a photo sharing social media platform.

Trance marks the comeback of director Anwar Rasheed after a gap of four years. The movie went on floors only recently and shoot is currently underway in Kanyakumari. Besides Fahadh, Trance has a big star cast, which includes Vinayakan, Soubin Shahir, Sreenath Bhasi, director Alphonse Puthren and Chemban Vinod Jose.

The movie is scripted by newbie Vincent Vadakkan and debutant Jackson Vijayan is in charge of the music department. Fahadh has remarked that Trance will be the biggest film in his career and he had pinned high hopes on it. The movie has some big names associated with it like Oscar award winner Resul Pookkutty and Amal Neerad.

The former is handling the sound design while Amal Neerad is wielding the camera. The director is also producing this movie under his banner Anwar Rasheed Entertainment.

Suriya’s Singam 3 to be remade in Hindi with Sunny Deol in the lead

Suriya’s Singam series is very popular among the Tamil audience. The first two parts were commercially successful but the third part released in February this year failed to create any impact in the box office. Despite that, the movie is getting a Hindi version.

While the first two parts featured Ajay Devgn in the lead, the upcoming movie will have Sunny Deol as the protagonist. However, the remake of Singam 3 aka Si3 will have no connection with Ajay Devgn-Rohit Shetty team’s Singham franchise.

The Hindi version of Si3 will be directed by ace cinematographer Ravi K Chandran. He made his directorial debut in 2014 with the Jiiva starrer Yaan and this remake is just his second film as a director.

The veteran is renowned for his works in films like Kannathil Muthamittal, Black, Ghajini, My Name Is Khan etc. His upcoming movie with Sunny Deol will be produced by Jayantilal Gada.

Singam 3, released on February 9 met with largely mediocre reviews from the critics. The tried and tested commercial formula and the lack of novelty in the script backfired for the movie. Let’s wait and see how Ravi K Chandran presents it before the Hindi audience.
